cruisemum1 · 16/03/2007 20:05

MunkiBaby · 17/03/2007 08:24

Cruise! sounds like your lo is well on his way to sitting up alone! woohoo! i'm loving all these milestones, but at the same time, its becoming more and more work, eh? and the grabbing out thing while holding...oh wow, it is like holding a wriggle worm! always wanting to turn around in the opposite directino you hold them, always grabbing out for things...

I want to say thanks agian for the advice and i'm getting the ncss book to read through today...i'm having my broadband turned off tomorrow ((moving house, to wales)) and it will take a week to get them out there to set up the new bits n bobs...so take care everyone...i'll catch up soon!

;)

cruisemum1 · 17/03/2007 13:27

munki - you cd be describing my lo with the wriggling! feel knackered just carrying him around! he sat up for 5 mins unaided today!

cruisemum1 · 17/03/2007 13:27

homemama - how you feeling today?

cruisemum1 · 17/03/2007 17:08

crikey! where is everyone?

compo · 17/03/2007 17:23

waves at cruisemum Everyone must be enjoying the last day of sunshiney weather I think.
What's everyone doing for Mother's Day? I don't think dh has anything planned... seems to think it's all just a marketing ploy

cruisemum1 · 17/03/2007 19:31

compo - i am very specific about my expectations of mothers day! . i send dd and dh out shopping the day before and insist taht I get taken for lunch on the day! Actually with dd Mothers day is more about her than me . This year she is really excited as the big sister as she had to choose two presents! Enjoy your day. Nice to be back on Sept thread though still having the need to visit various sleep threads ...

calvemjoe · 18/03/2007 18:36

Hello everyone, Elizabeth is 6 months old today! I've had a horrible weekend, had to rush ds to hospital yesterday with breathing difficulties, he's asthmatic and had been wheezing all night, anyway, he suddenly got worse on at about 5am, and dh is away so had to find babysitter for dd and get ds there asap. Turns out he has a nasty chest infection. They wanted to admit him but they put him on the nebuliser 1st of all and he improved quite a bit so they sent him home with antibio's and steroids. Didn't even remember it was mothersday till a friend rang at 10 this am to see if I was having a good day (dh forgot last year, grrrr). He didn't even have any other symptoms, no temp, eating fine, just a bit of a wheeze. It's hit him now though, a very chesty cough, no appetite and a white little face. It's his birthday in 1 week, I just hope he's well enough to enjoy his skiing lesson my sister has brought for him.
Anyway, enough of that, hope your lo's are all well.
Cori, we have a clock for ds, it has 24hrs on it, half yellow and half blue with just an hour hand on it. You set the blue bit for bedtime and ds knows he must not leave his room till the star is in the yellow. It is a lifesaver, we even took it on holiday with us
Cruisemum, so to hear about your sleep problems. DS was awful (I'm up with him more even now than I am with dd) but he did improve with time. I know drs can prescribe a sedative sometimes or your hv can advise with different sleep methods. HTH.

compo · 18/03/2007 18:41

Cal - so sorry to hear about ds being ill. It must have been awful to be all on your own with the 2 of them as well.
That clock sounds fab - I don't suppose you have an Internet link to it at all?
Well had a really nice day today (probably due to expecting nothing!!). Woke up and dh had put flowers and a card downstairs. Then we went shopping and out for dinner. Although didn't get anything for me but ds got a Noddy balloon so he was very happy.

calvemjoe · 18/03/2007 18:46

the clock

calvemjoe · 18/03/2007 18:47

ok, that doesnt work trying again!

calvemjoe · 18/03/2007 18:49

try again

calvemjoe · 18/03/2007 18:53

Compo, it was hard, I'm glad we're over the worst.

bristols · 18/03/2007 19:04

Hi all. LO and I have been in France for the past week visiting my parents. We all had a lovely time. I managed to read a whole book as DS was taken off my hands for most of the time. My Nan was there too so there were four generations which was lovely. We took lots of photos. LO didn't sleep particularly well over there. The house is much colder so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. He was also in a strange room and we were in together so I think I may have been disturbing him. He ended up in with me a few times which we have never done before. I actually quite enjoyed it But I really don't want it to get into a habit so I'm not going to do it anymore now we're home.

DS now has a terrible cold. He's so snuffly and has a dreadful cough. Hope he gets better soon. I hate seeing him so poorly. I can't imagine how it was for you this weekend, Calvemjoe.

Hope you've all had a lovely day. Its kind of been the same as normal here but I did get some lovely pressies this morning DS is a good shopper. He must get it from me!

cruisemum1 · 18/03/2007 21:15

calvemejo - so sorry to hear about your lo's chest infection etc. Must be so scary. My Goddaughter has bad asthma and has been hospitalised a couple of times. Usually nebulised and then sent home but still a terrible worry. I love the look of that clock! I will defo get one for ds when he is bigger. What sleep probs did you have wtih your ds specifically? How old is he now? Did you do anything? ds needs me to get him back to sleep as he falls asleep on the boob at night (not during the day though). Last nigth was dreadful. He woke around 1.5 - 2 hourly so I am shattered beyond belief today (just a sneaky post before I hit the hay!). The ohly way round it, from what I can ascertain, is cc or simliar. Bit of a shock to the system for me as dd was a dream sleeper - so to speak - still is and she is 9 now!
Must go to bed....
Sleep well all. Nice to be back!

Coriander73 · 19/03/2007 08:23

Hello! I'm back from my reunion...& what fun, laughter & tears! It was so good to just have no one to look after other than myself but boy did I miss the children!!!! Didn't think I would so much but just couldn't wait to get back to them. Anyway, we're hoping to catch up every year if we can...

Jack has now dropped his 11pm feed!! He's refused it for the past 3 nights so that's that....7 till 7..hurrah!!! Still not much interest in solids...threw up his banana yday & much prefers his milk but hey we're getting there gradually...maybe some sweet pot today

Myrtle1 · 19/03/2007 10:08

Hello,

Just doing the food shop online and I wondered if any of your LO's are on stage 2 or follow on formula? DS is still on Hipp Newborn milk and I wasn't sure if I should move on to next stage now he is 6 months?? I'd heard they were just a marketing ploy.
DS hasn't been well. Hes had a cold and diarrhoea for a few days and was off food but yesterday he was downing 8oz bottles so I guess he got his appetite back. He was up every 2.5 to 3 hrs last night and having an 8oz bottle each time. Exhausting

PavlovtheCat · 19/03/2007 10:13

cruise, sorry to hijack this thread, but can you geve me the link to the sleep thread? I lsot it?! Doh.
Thanks, and hope your well btw.

liquidclocks · 19/03/2007 13:56

Hi everybody - just a quickie (I'm at work) to let you all know I'm still alive! We've been cut off from our internet as we're trying to switch providers and they've effed it up as usual grr.

Hope everyone's well - my catch up's taking a long time - so far I've read up to Calvemjoe's return - hi btw!

Claire - don't know how the eczema's going but we use cetraben (sp?) emollient and same brand bath additive availabe on prescription. As long as DS2 gets a daily bath with that and smothered in cream 2/3 times a day he's fine.

We're just coming up t 6 months here and planning on starting solids next monday - wish us luck!

I've finally got back into my size 10 jeans (with no bulges!) too just in time for my best friend's wedding this weekend - will post piccies of the dress I had to slim into next week

liquidclocks · 19/03/2007 14:00

Cori - we've just ordered this clock for DS1 after our morning waking time has moved with the dawn (SO tired right now!) - will let you know if it works.

cruisemum1 · 19/03/2007 16:07

pavlov - dont know how to do a link but it is New Sleep is For the Weak and on Sleep category. Is that what you meant?

Coriander73 · 19/03/2007 17:48

Myrtle, FWIW Jack (27 weeks on Sat)is on HIPP 1st stage still but I will change him over to stage 2 - the blue box when I've run out of the pink box..which is probably tm or Wed!! I did the same with DD too..

Liquid / Calvemjoe, thanks for the tip re clocks..

PavlovtheCat · 19/03/2007 17:51

yes cuirse thats it...cant seem to find it, I did not watch it, as I have not been on for a few days, I seem to have lost it..., along with some others!!! I will go looksie this evening and say hi to all...thanks for the hijack!!

tassis · 19/03/2007 17:56

Hi everyone!

Not checked in for a while, but have just tried to catch up with you all and the LOs.

Lucy was 6 months last Thursday and we're almost 3 weeks into solids. She went straight to massive amounts which was quite nice in a way not to be piddling about with tiny bits for weeks and weeks. The last few weeks of just BFing had got a bit ridiculous with her wanting to be fed about every 90 mins and I decided enough was enough!! It's quite nice to be back to just feeding 4 times a day or thereabouts!

Poor lamb does still have to fit in with everyone else. It was a mad weekend here and she had so many of her meals out and about (cold cauli and brocolli - yuck!!).

How's the sitting up? Lucy's still very wobbly. What's everyone else's LOs into? L loves her bumbo, her blanket, anything to chew on (wooden spoon a favourite!), her door bouncer (when we think to put her in it, only door in this house that it fits in is the kitchen cupboard!) and, of course, her big brother. Oh and she adores TV, but don't tell!!

She's starting babbling too which is very cute.

We've booked 2 weeks in the south of france in May and I'm really, really hoping she's not moving by then!
