Over £250 for the MOT I had £150 saved for it... will have to borrow money from the children to cover the rest.

ABS light was on when FIL gave it to us - that is what has cost all the money. So far we have ended up with a car I don't like, that is costing us loads to repair, and I have to be eternally grateful and grovelling to them. Back in the situation where I know it sounds sooo ungrateful, but I would rather have had to spend a bit more and got a car on my terms, that I like, that I know is up together for at least 12 months.

damewashalot · 16/02/2007 15:59

hugs flame
I am hiding from my children as have turned into terrible shouting mother, why can't they just do one little thing that they are told??????? and as don't like the cross shouty me.

2boysmacca · 16/02/2007 19:19

Not that it helps, but I don't really like what I have become either. I just find myself yelling all the time. If I ask nicely, I can ask 'til I'm blue in the face but shouting gets results, faster!

Flame. Sorry to hear about the car. Can sympathise, as car had first service on Wednesday, £180.00. How can they warrant that sort of price when there is nothing wrong with it?

I fell asleep on the sofa earlier on. I woke at 3.10 both boys were still snoring. I'm hoping they'll sleep longer in the morning.

Nice bottle of wine chilling in the fridge.

2boysmacca · 16/02/2007 21:13

Where is everyone?

CanSleepWontStarve · 16/02/2007 21:23

I'm here at last. Been out with dd most of day - to toddler group this am followed by lunch in town and then to b'day party of one of dd's friends. She didn't get her nap until 4:15!

Poor thing is really suffering with her teeth at the moment. Even whilst bf'ing she is ramming her hand in her mouth. Took her a loooong while to settle tonight, even with calpol.

for car flame, and for shouty grumpy mummies. Sometimes it's just hard to avoid.

Yay for holiday plans. Still no nearer to deciding what to do for hols here.

Got anything exciting planned for the weekend?

Frizbe · 16/02/2007 21:47

CSWS have you tried ambersol on her gums as well, my friends ds was really, really teethy and she swore by it.

Flame for the MOT costs and for the nappy order falling thru, princes trust also do business loans for under 30's, worth looking into

Dame and Macca, I know what you mean, poor dd1 got a right mouthful just before we had to go and get ss this afternoon, mind you she had in the two seconds I left her alone in the kitchen coloured in my lino (luckily in wipeable pen!) good job we're changing it for tiles soon tho.......naughty step central today, and for the last few days really, I can tell its pre school half term

CanSleepWontStarve · 16/02/2007 22:00

We're going out tomorrow night, after we've put dd to bed. Going to see Music & Lyrics at the cinema. The cost of this is to have the in-laws to dinner first and have them stay over!

We've also got a Christening to go to on Sunday morning, and I've forgotten to get a present so far, so will have to go and find something tomorrow.

How about you?

Friz - had forgotten you'd recommended that. Not entirely sure how I'd get it onto her gums, as she never lets me put my finger in her mouth, but will try and get some tomorrow and then worry about that!

Hellooooooooo

How are we all?

Lew is sleeping through again now after his few days of been sniffly and coughy, he's still got it a bit but sleeping which is fine by me

Flame - you've added the tots wraps now after i've put my order in Oh well i might have to look at ordering more nappies dh will kill me but i aren't bothered. I'm getting the urge to buy another pushchair but he's having none of it so i've told him i have to feed one addiction so what would he prefer nappies or pushchairs

Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 08:20

Sorry PG - I did it as soon as I could... you got too enthusiastic. You only have 5 liners in your first parcel, the second one is going out today with 7 in it... I forgot to put the 6th one in the bundle after doing the photos ... Blame Jas

I found a site that lists a whole load of grants and loans, so I need to get on to that. At the moment I'd like to try and avoid a loan - we have so many debts already I can't face it right now. I'm at this torn stage of knowing I need to take a few risks to make this a success, but also not wanting to completely wreck our finances if it all falls through.

Did people get the newsletter? I was playin...

CSWS - hope Pippa is feeling a little happier. I found a little tiny pair of girls socks in my washing yesterday, and I know I didn't shrink em I remember picking them up and meaning to check who's they were... now I know!

I woke at 6.30 all pleased that it was the first time DS had woken... turns out he was up for an hour at 3am but I slept through the lot .

for your service costs Macca - I was enough at spending £100 for a service last summer!

We decided to accept the settlement money from Barclays (not as much as we wanted, but it is easier than court filing etc, and it is now iyswim), so at least we can use that for the car... just means we still can't pay a chunk off debts.

This weekend - My friend's DS's 1st birthday party today... its a late one - kids in afternoon then a glass of wine or 5 in the evening - not taking DH so I think I'll walk em there and he can collect us Tomorrow - playin at my dad's - which I think I will take DH to (or I'll give him the option of joining us later today - he is seeing us at some point!)

Forgotten everything else

Soupy's gone awol again. Oh, and not seen Dew for a little bit either.

3K - If you're lurking then just to let you know I hope everything is improving

CanSleepWontStarve · 17/02/2007 09:05

lol at not shrinking the socks. I also gained a bright pink shower scrungie!

Soupy was on the rather long blw thread the other day, where she did actually say that she was supposed to be on an MN break.

More night waking here, but it didn't quash her appetite for breakfast at least.

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 09:15

Oh bum!

I stuck my head in there to tell her to step away from the thread, but at that stage she hadn't made it on

DS refused all breakfast, so you're one up on me.

Jelley · 17/02/2007 09:33

Morning.

We had a lovely day out at Madame Tussauds yesterday. Glad I took my parents though, as I didn't know you can't take buggy round. It would have been awful carrying ds on my own all day.
DD1 learnt loads as we went round (she is a 7 year old knowledge sponge, and my mother is a teascher/history buff), while dd1 wandered round stroking all the costumes and copying the poses!
The card will be posted this morning mrm Thankyou again

Dew has posted on her antenatal thread this month (I did a search) but not recently. We are being abandoned for the pregnant talk!

I got the newsletter Flame.
Very professional.

Our car is due its mot soon, and it needs new tyres. They are very expensive new, so I'm hoping dp can find some second hand ones. I'd love to sell the car, but no one wants to buy it

No plans for the weekend here. We've been very busy all week and need a bit of quiet time before school starts on Tuesday.

DS cried himself to sleep last night After an hour of being wide awake but happy in his cot, I left him to make a cup of tea and he started to scream. By the time I was done he was calming down. I can't leave him to cry at all, but dp can, so I went to the corner shop for milk, and when I got back he had just stopped and was asleep. No idea what we will do tonight if he dosn't go off early.

Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 09:56

Thank god we didn't go there as well then!! That would have been a nightmare! Did you see my Cap'n?

Jelley · 17/02/2007 11:10

Of course
The pics of him aren't that good though Well, tbh, he looks great, it's just me and the dds that don't look good!

Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 13:38

The Cap'n is buying a house and looking at schools in Lymington I can be a fully fledged stalker!!

PhoenixGirl · 17/02/2007 14:32

Don't worry about the tots wraps flame i think i've bought enough to be going on with for now My first parcel hasn't come today so they might both come together on Monday so i'll have loads to play with all at once . Very impressed that the second one has been sent already

Oh yeah and i got a newsletter thanks

Glad you enjoyed your day out Jelley

Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 14:38

Tryin to make up for the appalling delay on the last one

Flamesparrow · 17/02/2007 14:39

You'll learn...

PhoenixGirl · 17/02/2007 14:39

lol u weren't home it couldn't be helped

PhoenixGirl · 17/02/2007 14:43

I still haven't told dh i've spent another £40 on them i ordered yesterday and he probably won't even know cos he aint gota clue wot i ordered first time and he's working earlys next week so will never know they came as 2 separate parcels

2boysmacca · 17/02/2007 18:56

I love the fact that men can be so oblivious to the obvious, and then I also find it so frustrating too

mustrunmore · 17/02/2007 19:51

Glad you got use of the card Jas; now we can get it topped back up to 40!

Survived ds2's birthday open day!!!

Might post a pic on here later.

mustrunmore · 17/02/2007 20:00

here's a couple of pics of posh boy in his suit!

BTW, did anyone see that thread about getting a £40 Verbaudet ready bed for £4.44? I've done it, so lets see if it gets delivered unnoticed by them!!

PhoenixGirl · 17/02/2007 20:05

yes i saw it mrm but dh works for them so i can't run the catalogue anyway
