Jelley · 13/02/2007 08:36

Ah, I've got similar, but I'm making the dds carry their own drinks/snack and book/toy for on the train

Chloe55 · 13/02/2007 11:54

DH is coughing away upstairs and intermittantly throwing up Ds is also in a very grumpy mood, hey ho.

Hope everyone meeting up today has a really lovely time.

Frizbe · 13/02/2007 15:56

Chloe, sorry to hear dh and ds are both on the rough side today

Hope the rest of you are having a great time

just pootling along here today, spot of cleaning done, spot of accounting done, been to twisting tots, dd now napping, will crack on with tea shortly I guess!

Chloe55 · 13/02/2007 17:55

Bloody hell - you can tell the chatter boxes are out for the day, can't you?!

mustrunmore · 13/02/2007 18:54

I'm back. So there

Jelley · 13/02/2007 18:56

Me too

2boysmacca · 13/02/2007 20:47

Good day, any casualties, funny stories? Flame, did you manage to get up or did your feet stay firmly on solid ground?

If the weather is OK tomorrow we're taking the kids to Twycross Zoo!!!!

Need a really realy early night. Ds2 woke at 2am, my mum took him at 4.45 as he was still not sleeping. She brought him back at 5.30 just as ds1 woke. I hissed at him to go back to sleep, then as soon as I heard my sisters kids were up, encouraged him to go downstairs and get Auntie macca to sort out breakfast. I think I managed about an hours sleep between 2 and 7.15 this morning. Yawwwwwn. G'night

mustrunmore · 13/02/2007 21:00

She did it!

Has to be said, taking a toddler on a down escalator whilst pushing a buggy is a great way of getting a good looking man to help you

BTW ladies... dh came to meet me at the station (although couldnt help me up the steps as he've been charged to get through the barrier!!). He was a bit early, so looking in shop windows to kill time... and got questioned by the police, as they'd had reports of a dodgy character and though it was him They asked if he had a black wooly hat, which he does, but didnt have it with him. He reckons if he'd had the hat he'd have been arrested!!!

CanSleepWontStarve · 13/02/2007 21:05

We're back. At last. Journey from hell.

PhoenixGirl · 13/02/2007 21:07

You're only just getting back? It must have been a good day (unless u set off home hours ago)

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2007 21:08

mrm... did he bring coffee?

One of us will tell our story in a min... just eating dinner and drinking a lot of wine!!

mustrunmore · 13/02/2007 21:26

Yep, he brought my coffee

Pgirl, I got in 6pm, and managed to stop ds1 falling asleep on the tube, so a job well done. And I was even told what 'lovely children' I had by a woman sitting opposite us If only she knew.

CanSleepWontStarve · 13/02/2007 21:32

Well we got back about 7:45 maybe?

Were supposed to catch 6pm train from St Pancras, but they had some carriages break down, so there were 4 instead of 8, which surprise surprise got very full, and we couldn't fit on with our buggies (or even without them tbh!). Man who worked there tried to sort out something for us, but it would take them half an hour to organise taxi to Luton, plus prob another half hour if we wanted car seats, so would be no better off than with 7pm train. In the end we made him walk us to Kings Cross Thameslink carrying flame's bag, whilst she had Emrys in sling and B in pushchair, as she was very tired by then. No lift at Kings Cross, so he had to go up and down with us carrying all the pushchairs, and we got to platform just in time to jump on another very busy train.

We were side by side with buggies blocking door, and every one of the thousand stops was on our side, so flame kept getting out and we made people squeeze down the side of the buggies. Pippa screamed/shouted a lot of the way because she didn't want to be in buggy. I couldn't even get round the front of her to take her out or remove some clothing (it was v hot), but she was intermittently pacified with food (see, you took the piss about my sweetcorn patties, but they kept everyone going!). Emrys was similarly unhappy, as he was tired, but had been ousted from his pushchair slumber by B. So we had a chorus of screaming, which continued all the way home in the car as well.

Girls happy once home and free to walk about. Emrys bum all sore as had been ages since we'd been able to change his nappy, but flame washed that, bfed him and got him off to bed, whilst I bathed the girls.

All then went to sleep quickly, so then flame and I had to clear up from breakfast, make grown up dinner (had pasta sauce cooking in slow cooker all day!), and open wine!

Now chilling .

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2007 21:33

She was probably insane like you and thinking B is adorable

CanSleepWontStarve · 13/02/2007 21:33

Ahhh - they are lovely mrm.

Going to see what pics I took now.

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2007 21:37

Just been through the bag - I love the stripey shirt!!!!

Going to a birthday party on Saturday... he will be wearing that !

CanSleepWontStarve · 13/02/2007 21:44

I love it too - told flame we want pics of him in it, and she said that that will be no problem, as he'll be living in it!!

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 13/02/2007 21:51

Glad you like it. There was no way I'd have ironed it for you though ds1 has one the same, by sheer fluke of being given to us, so they wore them on xmas eve together. I cant stand matching clothing (like anything else matching!), but it was quite funny as a one off. They also have matching hand knitted mustard coloured Val Doonican jumpers Thanks, MIL.

You poor things on the train. Can see you off to kings x though I thought it was bad enough getting help from the general public on the escalators. ds1 loved the man who helped too. In the space of one escalator, he'd told him we'd been on the big wheel with mummy's friends and 'those girls, you know' and had dinner in a cafe with ice cream and he couldnt manage the climbing frame but he just squeezed his body through and he'd been a good boy but it was hard work

PhoenixGirl · 13/02/2007 21:59

Dh has just got home from work and he's poorly now too. Man flu. He always takes the dog for a walk when he gets home so just walked out of the door muttering something about getting pneumonia (sp?) (it's raining here)

Jelley · 13/02/2007 22:06

Love you ds' description of the day mrm
Sorry you both had a nightmare journey home. We were back by 6.30, girls in bed by 7.30, and ds has been flat out since 8

We all had a lovely day out. Thankyou all (and your lovely children)
Even dp is coming round to the idea that maybe not everyone on the internet is a hairy handed trucker or pervert.
He had also chilled about the fact that I left the backdoor open when I left this morning, and didn't make a big fuss

I'm really tired, so I'm having one more cup of tea, then off to bed. We've got another day out tomorrow.

Oh, after carting their bags around all day, dd2 left hers either on the train, or in the taxi home, so I'm going to have to buy dd1 a Dr Who now to replace the Captain Jack that was in the bag.

PhoenixGirl · 13/02/2007 22:11

Glad you all had a good day

Flamesparrow · 13/02/2007 22:26

You wanted a DrWho anyway

DD has announced that we will be seeing you again, but staying with Jelley next time

Good day even with the hellish journeying.... and the big wheel that you can feel move

CanSleepWontStarve · 13/02/2007 22:29

Oh yes I forgot to say that it was a great day apart from the journeys. I described it to dh (or was it to flame ) as a fun sandwich, the journeys being the bread!

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 13/02/2007 22:31

Which is exactly why I told ds1 he couldnt bring his own bag today...

Both boys in bed by 7.15, but ds2 took a while to settle, esp after the initial shock of being 6 inches lower thanks to dh while we were out (had to lower it, as he's nearly flung himself out a few times. ds2 that is, not dh).

Right, ideas for Thursday please. Not too far from me, but with friend with car... the magic word!!!

Lucky kids are having a trip to the supermarket tomorrow

And, csws, thank you so much for lunch. You really are so kind and thoughtful. And I'm so glad ds1 actually ate his for a change instead of ignoring it(albeit from under the table whilst playing giraffe!!)

Er, no one has told the others about how little flameboy was viciously strapped to the chair by his dungarees

Frizbe · 13/02/2007 22:33

hurrah for having a good day girls, even if the journey home was a mare for some, is the wine nice, I could really drink some at the mo

Phoenix boo for man flu, raining here also.
Which brings me to tomorrows forecast for Macca, tis rain...booo....so maybe no Twycross tomorrow?? would be a shame tho as its nice there one of the monkeys (I think it was a baboon??) had a baby when we were there last year, and my friends and I stood there cooing with our little ones as the mum swung above our heads with the little one clinging on
