Cookies glad you managed to get it sorted so early on! It's been a nightmare with Harry, I asked paediatrician to check postnatally for tongue tie as his latch felt really weird when BF but he said he was fine but it's really common for it to be missed if it's a posterior tongue tie apparently.

Cookiesandcoffee · 24/08/2016 23:07

Ahh deleted post thanks to a thrashing little arm!
hopes I really wish as mums we were listened to more! I'm annoyed for you . I was very persistent in hospital despite being told there wasn't one. A mixture of that and the fact I know someone who works on the post natal ward snd she was luckily on duty when my paperwork was being completed

dolly really sorry to hear you're in the same camp. Not fun. He's 7+3. Worse in the last few days. I don't understand :( my main reasons for BF are wind & colic related as my first suffered so awfully when FF. I feel like I've been conned. I haven't changed my diet or anything. When did you last see your HV? I've not got my 8 week app for a few more weeks as she's on holiday. That and the fact there's no BF support group - do they not realise people have babies in summer?! How old is DD now?

dollydaydream84 · 24/08/2016 23:17

Cookies she is 9 weeks today I went today to the clinic. I have no clue what's going on. Also saw GP who is at a loss. I can kind of understand wind more for DD as she does have bottles of breast milk but all they ever blame wind on in a "proper" BF baby is poor latch. Are you suffering with pain when you feed? I am constantly covered in sick :(

AnnaT45 · 24/08/2016 23:32

Hello,

Thanks for your continued lovely messages. So kind of you. I'm trying to grieve I just don't have time to brush my hair let alone do that at the moment! When things settle down I'll probably get chance. I do cry everyday for her though so I'm not holding it in.

To those with vomitting / unsettled/ crying babies. Please read about reflux and silent reflux. Dd1 had it and it was horrendous. Got some meds from dr and was a different child! Have a Google and see if it fits. If so go to the dr. You have my sympathies it's awful when they're crying a lot!

Love seeing all the babies pics! flossie indians/ love the hair on your babies!!! Crying out for a bow Grin

juflin jasper is so cute!! I hope you have a lovely break! Weather looks good for this week so plenty of beach time for you

Anyone else really hot??? I took the girls to the park today and had to feed Grace whilst supervising dd1 I was so sweaty!!! And I'm now boiling feeding her as there is little breeze coming in.

I'm pleased to say her feeding has calmed down! Back to every two /three hours so it must have just been a mega growth spurt! I was giving her a little bit of formula during it and planned to do a bottle at 10 to tank her up but I think it's irritated her tummy a bit as she was in a lot of pain last night and did a lot of pooing!

I didn't watch bake off as went to sleep to try get a few hours whilst I could! I love it though but makes me need cake!!!

3+ 2 Smile

AnnaT45 · 24/08/2016 23:33

dolly the more you say the more I think you should look at reflux x

AnnaT45 · 24/08/2016 23:38

Sorry last post! I also think it's BS that 'BF babies don't need winding* everyone I know and mine have need it! I find popping over the shoulder for a rub then moving into a seated position and holding the chin and a back rub helps move it around and out quickly

Bluebell20 · 25/08/2016 00:21

Indians - had to laugh at you paranoid-poking Hallie awake! Yes I am amazed tongue tie isn't checked properly as a matter of course. I think it depends where you go - a friend of mine says that her daughter was checked three times in the first 48 hrs of her life!

Julfi. - really reassuring to hear that Jasper relearned his latch quite late on. Baby massage was great - we did tummy and chest this week, and a lot of it was techniques for easing wind and aiding digestion. I watched while I fed and we've already had a go at home! To be honest i just like the fact thst it's something positive to do with Ruben that isn't waving a tinkly toy above his head or singing him 'pookie doodle puppy' for the ninetieth time!

Sunday - I can't get over how long people have to wait for the tt snip once diagnosed! Feeling very lucky I only had three days to wait!

Primary - what is a puppy pad? Like an incontinence mat for puppies? I might use my left over maternity mats (that I still have due to my waters refusing to EVER BREAK) for nappy free time! Usually I leave him on the changing mat with a dry flannel over his willy in case of accidents!

Bluebell20 · 25/08/2016 00:41

Julf - have a gorgeous holiday. We've not been brave enough for even a one-night b&b adventure yet so I am in awe of you getting on a ferry!

Indians - hope the birthday party goes well! I can't wait to throw Ru birthday parties, which I think prob goes to show how horrendously naive I am. Like I think it's going to be all magic and cake decorations, whereas in actuality it's probably more about vomit and e-numbers. Also, I have been going to bed at 8.30pm most nights. Only way I am getting enough sleep!

Cookies - I feel for you! 'Open your eyes Mummy' would make me weep at 7am at the moment! Boob Guru came from the lactation consultants of Great Britain - www.lcgb.org

Hopes - another tongue tie! I can't believe that when it is so common it's not checked for after birth as routine! Hope the snip helps you.

Dolly - afraid I'm not sure about the feeding issues but I would get in touch with the health visitor pronto and tell them your concerns. I would imagine they might send a breastfeeding specialist out to help you (eventually - one got in touch with me yesterday, five days after I first asked for help!)

Indians I change Ms nappy after each feed. I don't do many changes in between unless a clearly heavy nappy or a poop.

Cheery I start baby massage next week. Can't wait to take him.

Sunday I give M a little nappy free time late afternoon. It's a time he doesn't normally poop and also near bath time so I'm not too worried if he pees.

Primary hope your DH recovers soon. Mine had a drink last night and is snoring next to me. I'm kind of looking forward to getting into a routine on my own. Although not looking forward to school runs.

Julfin that picture is adorable. I love the colour he is wearing.

Cookies sounds tough. Hugs. Could you try adding a couple of bottle feeds a day to give you a break. Either expressed or formula. I was giving two bottles of formula a day from two weeks and had no problems at all with supply.

Birch lovely to hear from you. I love bake off too. Although I have to admit that I'm a complete loser and have been enjoying Celeb Big Brother too Grin

Hopes here's hoping things improve dramatically for you now Harry's tongue tie is sorted.

Anna I'm really hot and sweaty. I think it's the pregnancy/ feeding hormones settling down. I'm having two showers a day.

For those asking about my secret to the long stretch of sleep it's really nothing complicated. I just have a routine set in place. Of an evening I bath M then feed him a 9oz bottle of hungrier baby milk (he's on regular formula in the day). I tickle his feet or open clothes up or anything I can to ensure he takes the full 9oz. Then he goes in the Moses basket with this on

It seems to be working well. Tonight he has slept from 6pm until now.

The health visitor is coming tomorrow. Six week check is a little late. I dread to think what this chunky monkey weighs.

6+6 weeks.

birchybaby2 · 25/08/2016 02:14

Oops fell asleep during bake off. Just caught up with it and a feed. Both had 4 plus hours downstairs but hey ho sleep is sleep.
Like the look of the elephant Beauticians.

Bluebell20 · 25/08/2016 03:33

Beaut - how are you going to cope with your husband away for 8 weeks? Do you have any plans for people to help you? I can't imagine being alone with one child for that amount of time, let alone four!!!

Cheery - Mo is so cute! That little face! I kind of thought all the babies looked quite similar to begin with but they are really starting to develop individual little faces now. So exciting!

Anna - I am SO hot! We are staying in the in-laws' stone built house tonight though which is a bit cooler. Glad I'm not still pregnant! Imagine the swelling!!!

Cookies - Ru is often s bit windy after a BF. Will be interesting to see if that changes with the tt - I suspect not!

Beaut - we are having our six week HV visit next week at 7+1, haha!

Birchy - I am so excited for bake off. I'm going to save it up as a special night feed treat at home!

Just made a tiredness induced error. Took top and bra off in order to feed, then remembered I ought to change his nappy first. Didn't put bra back on. Pissed milk all over in-laws' bathroom. Then Ru actually pissed everywhere to add to the fun!

My left nipple is mashed and bleeding again despite the shield. Tongue tie appointment in less than eight hours!

Oh cookies how the blooming hell do you manage with more than one?! Funny thing is I know I'm broody again already Blush and this is my first child.. I just love being a mum. At the same time looking after a baby and a toddler, well done you!!
flossy It was the sweetest thing ever, she has so much hair, none of it has fallen out, it just keeps growing thicker. Also my monkeys a big girl too, what was Rose at birth? Lily was 9lb 2!
dollydaydream I'm BF too and I can't express at all. I can hand express a bit, but not enough to fill a bottle at all. How old is your daughter? Lilys a month old feeds every few hours, and comfort feeds a lot too. I'm loving it?, it's tiring but the bond I feel I already have with her is amazing.
Indians know the feeling with sick. Madam cluster fed for eight hours the other day then proceeded to vomit all over Daddy. He has a strong stomach! 😄

Btw... Sorry if this is TMI but has anyone resumed any sort of intimacy with their other halfs yet? I feel like I will never be normal down there again. We tried last night with lube for like a few minutes and it hurt so much, had to stop. I had quite bad swelling after having her, and internal stitches. I've been feeling pretty physically well. Just miss that special time between me and hubs. Was probably just too early, due my 6 week check up soon. Anyone with more than one, how did you find sex PP? Hope I don't have an infection :(

Btw on baby front. Lily just gave me her first social smile!! I was cuddling her, telling her how much I love her and she proper grinned at me! These times are so precious.

These photos are so cute - i also thought that babies looked largely identical but can't believe how individual they are! Also how much they develop a little personality so quickly.. I miss A being so teeny tiny but I love how much I know her now and the smiles that I don't mind.

Annie is also a heffer, she was 7lb 6 at birth and 11lb 14 at her 7 week check Shock

cheese we dtd at 5 weeks pp ish and omg the pain. Not done it since mainly because I'm not on anything yet, we have no condoms and dp is poorly. Also the fear in the back of my mind that A would wake up and I would definitely stop and go to her which I think would piss dp off Grin

AnnaT45 · 25/08/2016 08:31

Re sex... I had a c section with dd1 so I can't say for sure. But my friend told me your cervix is really tender when you're BF. I found sex ok lots of lube and a wine before helped me relax but I remember having a smear test about 6 months after and it was really painful. I think you're advised to wait 6 weeks if you can for things to heal.

also I know you'll all know but be careful with protection. I feel pregnant as soon as I stopped BF Blush you're really fertile after having a baby so just don't get carried away like I did unless you want a small age gap!

Flossiesmummy · 25/08/2016 09:27

Cwtches she was 9lb 10oz but we had a big weight loss early on as we struggled to establish breastfeeding. All fine now though.

Flossiesmummy · 25/08/2016 09:30

Oh and a big fat no to DTD. My section incision is healed and I'd happily bump uglies with DH. However, Rose won't be put down to sleep unless it's night time and I'm still there right next to her. I'm just not comfortable having sexy time with her in the same room. Blush

Aaaaarrrgh!!
6 week old baby + no mains water for second day + covered in baby vom at 5am + painful nipple = stressed me!!

Currently sitting on my friends' sofa, feeding baby in the hope that he'll sleep long enough for me to shower and wondering if I can face going back home today...

Will reply to others later, but desperately need to ask a couple of bf questions (found a support group, but they're not back until a week on Monday):
Firstly, suddenly his latch keeps slipping when he first starts feeding (both sides), why would this happen now?!
Secondly, feeding on the (always dodgy, but been fine for the last few weeks) right side has become uncomfortable and, more painfully, he keeps refusing to unlatch when done/asleep and is clamping down on said sore nipple or literally dragging himself off - it's making my toes curl just writing that.

ANY ideas???

dollydaydream84 · 25/08/2016 10:45

Quick message for cookies Dd has been put back on ranitidine and being tested for water infection to rule it out. Will keep you posted with how she gets on

MrsRolly · 25/08/2016 11:38

Grr just written and lost a massive post!! Will try and get back on later, hooray for all those with bf woes hopefully nearly behind them!

Here is a picture of my giant boy measuring in yesterday at 5+3 at 12lbs8!!!!
Not sure when he's going to slow down his weight gain nearly a lb a week crazy.

dolly yes keep us updated. No I'm not in pain thank goodness. Sorry to hear there's a lot of sick.. Reflux maybe? We don't have much sick but a bit of curdled sometimes?
We often have a burp but still continue to cry? Will be thinking of you I really hope things improve

ruby you're handling that all a lot better than I am ! Hope you got your shower?! Your feeding troubles don't sound fun. This is what bugs me when they start having latch problems. I'm still not convinced our technique is great but I'm luckily not in pain . I hope your friend also bought you tea and biscuits Grin

Yey indians so happy for you and your holiday ! I bet her passport picture is so cute!!

cwtches I think we did after 5ish weeks? No pain at all. I'm just really struggling to be in the mood and G always feeds 10-11 ish. If he hasn't had his feed yet my boobs are tender and I can't switch off from baby thoughts ! I wouldn't pressure yourself there's no rush.

yep I have a 7 and 3 year old- I can promise you I'm not broody! Do you have a breast pump? Couldn't be without my electric one. Aw the first smiles are just the best! Lily is beautiful

anna I'm a sweaty mess! Always am during pregnancy and post. Not fun BF in this heat for sure. I'm the same with the cake - I was such a greedy pig last night and put myself in a 'sugar coma'

bluebell chuckles at milk and wee flying all over bathroom! Thank you for the link I'm definitely going to investigate. I think DH might resuggest formula when he hears the cost implication. So nearly snip time so keep going lovely - you're such a trooper!

Thanks beaut but I'm already giving one bottle of expressed a day. Just for when we are out and about incase we are in a busy restaurant and it's a bit much with the other children. I thought st first this might be the cause of the wind but it doesn't correlate. Can't believe MB can manage 9oz!! That's amazing. What i would give to have my evening back too with that long sleep must be amazing. I NEED that time back to unwind from the older ones.

mrsrolly what a gorgeous chunk! I'm starting to worry about weight gain here he's only gained just under 2lbs in 7 weeks! What a lovely squidgy boy you have

socktastic · 25/08/2016 16:43

Re the windy/hard to poo/colicky babies... I was speaking with someone whose 5 month old had all the same symptoms as Adam seems to have at the moment. She said she switched to comfort milk so I'm going to try it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Feeling pretty down at the moment, 2 nights in a row followed but some shitty news. Best friends dp has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and just had months left. He is 33. It's not fair - she lost her mum to cancer in just February. The fact there's nothing I can do is so upsetting and she seems to have gone totally off radar. Totally understandable but I'm so worried for her.

primarynoodle · 25/08/2016 17:38

Oh my god sock that's awful. Hugs for you and your friend + her dp :( life can be so cruel

Flossiesmummy · 25/08/2016 21:37

Sock Sad that's awful.
