Gosh, busy night!

Bluebell - I don't dry Jasper's bottom after using water wipes, I just slap on some cream.

Indians - I think if it's wee and it's not bothering them, it's fine to leave their nappy for a bit if you don't want to wake them. If it's pooey J normally wakes.

Beaut - great news about the long sleep!

For anyone worrying about babies re-learning how to latch properly, jasper did it successfully (more or less) after 5 weeks.

Bluebell/Cheery - I'm starting baby massage soon. Aside from sitting on the reserve benches, were your classes good?

Sock - sorry about your MIL. She sounds well intentioned...!

All these babies are gorgeous!

Cheery1 · 24/08/2016 05:03

Thanks Indians I'm uming and ahing about whether to try to find the money to get the procedure done privately as it's likely a 2 week wait here for NHS and not sure my sanity can hold up for that much longer!

julf massage was lovely. Tbh it's an outing which is great and also bits of it I'm using lots to help with his constipation. Go for it! Xx

Cheery1 · 24/08/2016 05:05

sock so tricky the MIL sitch - mine was trying so hard not to tread on toes etc, she didn't actually help at all but came from her trying to be respectful. Such a hard relationship to navigate. I guess with the moving stuff you could gently suggest that baby brain means you need everything left where it is else you've got no hope of finding anything?! Might be a non confrontational way of avoiding that. Xx

cwtchesandcheese · 24/08/2016 07:46

Hey ladies hope you and your cherubs are doing well. I am a zombie this morning. My daughter has worked out not to pull her own hair! Still has the grasp reflex and got very distressed this morning when she realised pulling your own hair hurts. Oh bless her. Had to ungrasp her hand for her so she could let go! Would reply individually but my vision is blurry. Happy Wednesday xx

socktastic · 24/08/2016 07:51

Thanks, maybe I need to be more tolerant.

Little guy was so out of sorts last night, heavy crying verging on screaming from 5 o'clock until finally getting him down at 9. Dh reckoned he had a sore wee tummy - nothing would settle him! still was a bit odd during his nighttime feed but seems better this morning. I, however, am utterly knackered!!

beaut what's your secret?! I'd love 7.5 hours!

Flossiesmummy · 24/08/2016 10:40

Cwtches we had the same issue with Rose pulling her own hair Sad

My little beast weighs 11lb 8oz now at 6 weeks old.

The longest sleep I'm getting is 3 hours but Rose is great at feeding quickly and going straight back to sleep at night time. Small mercies!

beckslovestimmy · 24/08/2016 14:10

Indians I change Bens nappy between 9-10pm and then he usually wakes between 5-6. Sometimes I change it then other times I leave it until we get up at 8. It's usually not that wet at 5-6 because he's not fed since the nappy change. I wouldn't wake them overnight to change it.

beckslovestimmy · 24/08/2016 14:13

Unless they've pooed.

sundaysunday · 24/08/2016 14:13

Glad you have a potential solution bluebell and its really good you've got appointment for snip so soon, my friend had to wait 4 weeks to have her DD done. I'm using water wipes for nappy changing and tend to have a quick dry off with cotton wool after. Haven't really been doing any 'nappy free time' yet, is anyone else? I'm sure E would just pee everywhere! Indians I leave nappy changing until he wakes if it's just a wee.

Beaut you deserve that long sleep with 4 to look after! We all want to know the secret too!

Hi cwtches, very cute pic of your bubs. My boy has a strong grasp and likes to grab my hair, I can see myself having to get a drastic haircut soon Confused

Sympathies sock. Sleep deprivation is horrible, you can see why it's used as torture. I've had a bad 48 hours too with E not sleeping and crying constantly when awake. Think he had a slight upset stomach and seems a bit better today.

primarynoodle · 24/08/2016 17:18

Indians - I do a nappy change at 9ish, 2.30ish and 8ish (maybe 5ish if it's quite wet but that's unusual) but if she slept through a night feed I'd just change at the next one tbh.

Beaut - glad you're doing ok, I'm stressed enough with one! I can very slightly sympathise with the dh troubles though, mine has been diagnosed with a damaged nerve and is on painkillers which completely wipe him out. He basically sleeps or is at work :/ not sure I'd survive if I had more kids to run round after too

Sunday - I do nappy free time after a bath, I dry her off then lie her on a blanket with a puppy pad under her bum and do a little massage with some oil, if she's still chilled by that point I sometimes do a bit of tummy time before the nappy goes back on. Deffo recommend the puppy pad though - she always wees!

julfin · 24/08/2016 17:35

Primary - not sure puppy pads would do the job for Jasper and his fountains! Wink

We've just arrived in the Isle of Wight for a week. Here's a picture of Jasper on the ferry, "reading" his ferry book Grin He's been either asleep or chatting/playing all day despite the blazing heat in the car - amazing!

Trying to check in and catch up on posts but having a difficult time of it, very sorry ladies. Will try and catch up at last.

We have constant windy screams from 6-11 and after then a final feed I crash out. Two feeds in the night, and then a 3 year old abouts in my face at 7am to 'get up and open your eyes mummy!!!', then starts a day of 3 children and trying to entertain the older ones.

I have never known a breast fed baby have such bad wind? Been using gripe water, massaging him and his tummy.. But I just don't know. He's not feeding as much either as a result of it?
It's really starting to take its toll now :(

julfin · 24/08/2016 20:11

Cookies - I find cycling his legs works an absolute treat for the wind - gets all the farts out! And he seems more comfortable while I'm doing it too.

Is it socially acceptable to go to bed at 8pm? Blush Can't quite bring myself to watch the great British bake-off with my parents... Cabin-fever is starting to kick in - I think I need to get back to London soon and get some sort of social life back! Looking forward to starting the various baby groups as well as catching up with friends.

Happy 5th birthday, Master Lobby!

Big day tomorrow: Jasper's 6-week birthday Grin

birchybaby2 · 24/08/2016 20:51

Yay really excited that bake off has started. One program of mine to watch each week. Got it on live pause as been doing bedtime for 7 year old then chores.
Can't remember who was worried last week about immunisation's and taking calpol to dr's. Think this is now protocol. Health visitor said they like babies to have calpol as soon as had meningitis vaccination due to risk of fever. Had letter from practise today and paracetamol instructions for afterwards. Eeck scary but I know they needs them.
Sorry I try and keep up but rarely post. Manic during school holidays. Daniel is doing well though. He's a porker and loves his gold top (breast milk)!!!

Really feel for you all struggling with lack of sleep/feeding problems. Think by number 2 and usually working shifts I'm so used to minimal sleep that it's not as bad. Xx

SpeakNoWords · 24/08/2016 20:56

I totally didn't know about the instructions for calpol with the first set of jabs, and the nurse looked a bit horrified. I promised that I'd administer as soon as I got home but then subsequently forgot... Doesn't seem to have caused any issues as Corin seemed fine! Bad second-time-around slack mum!

HopesAndDreams15 · 24/08/2016 21:04

Sorry for being such an erratic poster popping up once in a blue moon but I am following ladies. Cookies even though Harry is FF we've been experiencing exactly the same issues as you. He's gained weight really well but so colicky and windy, screaming most evenings...tried all colic remedies to no avail. HV came round last week to try and help and she suspected a tongue tie, we went to the tongue tie clinic today and it turns out he did have a definite tongue tie which they snipped there and then. Worth looking into, if you haven't already. Hope things improve for you.

Sophiesausage · 24/08/2016 21:13

Anyone used staydown formula milk? Health visitor recommended it today as sophie brings milk up during and after feeding. But making the bottles up seems like such a faff especially as sophie goes from 0-hungry within about 10 seconds if waking. The sick doesn't seem to bother her, it's more that it's unpredictable as will happen anytime. I've heard the staydown can cause constipation- anyone had this? I don't want to replace one issue with another!

bluebell so sorry to hear of all your feeding troubles, and so overly happy for you things are on the up. Amazing boobie lady!! I second getting a second opinion for TTs, I've been told all of mine didn't.. Only to discover they all did. Really really hope the snip makes the difference. Can't believe you've been soldiering on for all this time! You're a queen. Do you mind saying where you heard of this boobie hero? I'm tempted for some help with latch - stupid summer holidays and nothing running!

anna be kind to yourself. It's a tough time for anyone never mind with grief thrown ok the mix. A close friend of mine had a very similar situation and she found it very tough. Sending virtual hugs

julfin you're such a superstar. Great that you gave the support you need. Always here on the thread! Jasper sounds just lovely and I'm glad you're both being well looked after. Can I borrow your parents?! Mine have been crap

primary I do sometimes leave him if he's asleep . Constantly check and not for long. With other DCs I often have no choice!

Indians Hallie is the strawberry blonde princess! Her little face is the cutest thing! I can't believe it hasn't fallen out either?! George has an odd looking moat round the back of his head Confused

Also to add - gorgeous babies all round ladies!! Love seeing their updates. Anyone else scoffed their faces in front of the Bake Off Blush ?!

Cookiesandcoffee · 24/08/2016 21:57

hopes thank you - but tongue tie was snipped when he was a few days old. I'm so glad for you yours got sorted. Incredible what problems they cause! And how many go unnoticed or undiagnosed. I'm very lucky I know someone who works on the post natal word and she fought for me.

sophie I've never heard of it! Do keep us posted

Impressive sick indians/hallie !!

dollydaydream84 · 24/08/2016 22:11

Hi All,
Not popped on for a few weeks, having a lot of issues with DD not wanting milk, throwing up the milk she does have like a good ounce or two and crying with wind in tummy more than she used to (not excessive though). She is also starting to drop off her growth curve. I have been BF more than giving expressed bottles as i thought she was finally latching well (after TT snip) but seems as though she isn't. A few weeks ago she was having 30oz a day plus breast feeds, feeding every 2-3 hours.
Today I've managed to get a total of 15oz plus a breastfeed down her (in 24 hours). She smiles and coos when she is awake, she just doesn't cry for milk like she used to every couple of hours. Poos are down to one or none a day. The less she poos the more she behaves like she doesn't want milk. No one is bothered by it as she is mostly happy when awake. Anyone had anything similar?

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

dollydaydream84 · 24/08/2016 22:13

Cookies just read back, do we have the same child?! I could have written your post except she is generally more happy when awake than screaming. when did it all start for you? ours has been week 8-9 :(
