Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hope your easters have been better than ours. We're full of lurgey Easter Sad. Been lucky to get away with it for so long, but man it sucks looking after a baby when you're sick yourself. No wallowing allowed here! Poor ds is dealing with a temperature, cough, urine infection, sore excema on his face and has been constipated. Seemed a bit better today, though getting medicine in him is a right palaver. And dh is little use at the moment, and away next week. So we stumble on. Problem with so little sleep for so long is I just don't have the reserves to deal with shit like this.

Date night kbro and magrat! Woo hoo! I've still not been out after 7pm since ds was born Blush

Absolutely no sign of mobility here yet, thank God, as I'm totally unprepared. Ds's only movement skill is clockwise roll from tummy to back.

coconut sounds like your ds is having a bit of a tricky phase - maybe a growth / development leap? You're right though, you just can't compare babies.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 01/04/2016 21:54

rocks up and orders a milkshake over ice

Effin we have colds too! Fatty that sounds like tough work with the languages! Hope mugabes is still open for business!

Coconut0il · 01/04/2016 22:27

Just a milkshake MaGrat? Just had a Baileys coffee in bed in my work travel cup Shock What a Friday night! DS2 has a snotty nose and has woken everytime I've tried to slip away so emergency text down to DP got my drink up to me.

DS2 still not crawling forwards but has mastered a kind of spin and sit back up so can get from one end of a room to the other. Funny how you never notice how many sharp corners you have till you see a head about to spin into one! Haven't really done any baby proofing but going to get a cheap travel cot for downstairs to contain him if I have to pop out of the room.

How are you and your DS Effin? Hope you're both feeling better. Awful when you're ill, awful when they're ill but worst of all is when you're both ill at the same time. Not good.

Have you been to the zoo yet fatty? Or is it next week? I know what you mean about the souvenirs, always tried to persuade DS1 to have a pencil or magnet but he'd pick up some teddy or cup that cost a fortune!

Randoms are you still about? How are things going?
Have you left for fb crafty?

Think Mugabes needs an offer on 2 for 1 cocktails or a happy hour to get everyone back! Wine

CraftyPenguin · 02/04/2016 18:18

Hiii Nope, I've not left for fb. I don't know how to find the group! It seems like that's where everyone else is though - it's sooo quiet on here.

Sorry for my absence! Had a bit of a stressful time with the job hunt, but it paid off as dh now has a new job to go to!! We just need a house now. We have had to put the search on hold as I've been so poorly for over a week now. First trip out of the house in a week today. We only went to the park but it was so nice to be out.

How is everyone?

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/04/2016 19:50

I'm here. Zoo was today. Was a fantastic day, apart from DD falling and splitting her lip. The zoo have us a free ticket to go again to make it up to her though, which is fantastic.
The big cats were a hit Grin

Coconut0il · 03/04/2016 13:39

Good news about the job craftySmile DP was made redundant in July and I found the job search stressful and it wasn't even mine! I'm sure the right house is out there somewhere. Hope you're feeling better today.

Glad you had a good day fatty. Apart from the split lip Sad Hope your DD still enjoyed the day. We're off tomorrow, have packed a bag for DS2 that looks more like we're going on holiday than a day out!

Hope DS2 learns to forward crawl soon, have had 2 terrible nights and I'm holding on to the thought that when he works out how to crawl he will sleep probably not though .

Tindel · 03/04/2016 19:59

I'm here - phone has been playing up, so struggling to post. Not much to say really - sleep is slowly improving (although still can take 2 hours to settle) and food slowly going in (although not much, as we're doing blw). I've been fairly ill for a while now, test results have come back and my Crohn's is back, so just waiting for a consultant appointment to come through. Feeling tired, grotty and a bit sorry for myself. I might have to go for many cocktails at bar Mugabes, as IRL all drinks other than water, peppermint tea and weak squash make my stomach hurt at the moment.

FattyNinjaOwl · 03/04/2016 20:09

It is amazing what you need to take for just one day isn't it? Grin
I remember posting on a thread about what I keep in my changing bag. Someone went mental because all they needed for two under 1 and a half was a nappy and a pack of wipes. I was Hmm well done you but not everyone has the money to buy a complete new outfit when one of them does a poonami or leaks through their nappy.
tindel hope things get better for you. Have a cocktail on me, it us virtual so won't hurt you 🍸

CraftyPenguin · 03/04/2016 21:05

Ouch Fatty, sounds nasty! Is your dd ok now? Glad you had a good time other than the accident!

I'm hoping DD will learn to crawl soon too. She can get absolutely everything/everywhere she wants by rolling, but yet not crawling is frustrating her. She gets up on her knees and rocks back and forth moaning, lol.

We've had rubbish sleep here too. She was awake every 30 mins last night until 4am when dh co slept with her and she went through until 7. Quick feed, and they both went back to bed until 9am. We're still an hour behind in the penguin household, we really need to catch up with the real world!

Tindel I hope you feel better soon.

We're staying at my mums overnight tomorrow and I can guarantee once we get there she's going to make lots of comments about how much stuff we have. Whether we go out for a day or overnight, we always end up needing loads to cover all the "what if" senarios! I have scaled back the changing bag but it's still bulging at times.

Coconut0il · 03/04/2016 21:24

A virtual cocktail from me too tindel. Don't know much about Crohn's, what will you have to do now? Do you manage it yourself or is it medication?

I have everything I can think of in the changing bagGrinI like to be prepared... But it always seems to be the one thing you forget that you need!

What is up with this rubbish sleep crafty Think DS is worse than ever! Next door have a September baby and I used to hear him through the wall... I never hear him now and DS2 always seems to be waking. It did start when the clocks changed. Please, please be crawling related. He's so close.

Also fingers crossed for a dry day tomorrow. This will be our first proper day out as a 4 (plus DS1 friend!) And it will be such nicer if it's dry.

Equimum · 05/04/2016 13:48

Sorry, after 'delurking', I seem to have managed to lose every post I have tried to make Confused.

Gosh, that's not what you need Tindel. I don't know much about Crohns, but I hope that the consultant appointment is productive and that you are able to come up with an effective management regime very quickly.

Sorry for all those of you having rubbish sleep (again)! We're getting by here, but DS still spends the majority of the night in our bed, and still wakes a bit more often than I would like.

I hope baby coconut and baby crafty master crawling soon. DS was so frustrated for the few weeks that he could only fathom leg-hand-face. Luckily, he seems to have finally cracked it and is much happier.

I hope you enjoy your day out Coconut. Where did you go?

I'm another one who packs the kitchen sink for a day out. Mind you, it paid off yesterday when we went out with friends. I always take spare clothes for both children if we're not able to get home easily. My friend mocked about me carrying a small backpack, but then needed to borrow DS1s trousers when her daughter's 'tree-wee' went wrong 😀. I also find that, as they get bigger, always having snacks, drink, a small book etc tends to get you out of all sorts of problems.

FattyNinjaOwl · 05/04/2016 14:28

DD is fine now. I'm running off an hour and 15 minutes sleep today. It's not good. Sad
DS2 has decided today is the day he's going to attempt to walk without holding on. He can only do two steps holding on, so why he thinks he can do it without I don't bloody know!

Coconut0il · 05/04/2016 18:43

He's done it! Forward crawling into the dog's room, tipped the water bowl over, everything soaking wet but this must mean he will sleep all night tonight right?!

We went to Drayton Manor, was fab in the morning, lovely sun and not too busy. At 4 it started to throw it down but DS1 had done most of the rides so we called it a day.

Oh no fatty. Coffee or full fat coke is my go to when we've had a bad night. And CakeandChocolateof course.

Equimum · 05/04/2016 18:51

Wow Fatty, you must be exhausted! I hope you get more sleep tonight.

Lol coconut. Glad you had a nice day, despite the rain. We are planning a weekend trip to Drayton Manor in the summer, as DS1 is Thomas mad.

FattyNinjaOwl · 05/04/2016 19:04

coconut yay! Glad you had a good day. I think I figured out why we had such a bad night. All four front top teeth have come through at the same time. Poor boy.

Coconut0il · 05/04/2016 21:00

We really enjoyed it, it was quite quiet too which was good. DS2 was asleep from when we arrived at 10 till 1 but he had a go on the train and a look round the zoo. I even braved the Ben 10 ride with DS1. Thomas land is really good, will definitely take DS again when he's older.

Awww poor Nathan fatty. Four teeth in one go sounds really painful Sad Hope he has a better night tonight now they're out.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 05/04/2016 21:31

Hi all. Ouch to teeth fatty. Yay to crawling coconut. DS is rocking on all fours and can go backwards. He's getting another tooth joy! Poor little man. Started my proofreading course today. Feels good to have made decisions about work but scary going freelance! Exciting too though.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 07/04/2016 13:39

Teething. Hell. Argggghhhhh. Line up the shorts!!

Coconut0il · 07/04/2016 15:07

DS2 and the dog seem to have done a trade... The dog is trying to rip apart a
Fisher Price bear and DS2 is sitting next to the dog bed playing with a dog ropeConfused
Yay for the proofreading course magrat Boo for the teeth. DS2 still dribbling like mad with his.

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/04/2016 15:13

magrat exciting! Boo to teeth though.
coconut DS2 is obsessed with the cats toys at the minute. They both chase them round. Grin
I've got 3 poorly DC today. D and V.

Ugh.

Tindel · 07/04/2016 17:27

Am so grateful there's no sign of any teeth yet for us. Still feeling awful, DH picked up a stomach bug, so he is out of action as well (although he was well enough to go to his meeting today). Am trying not to feel too resentful as he is currently kipping on the sofa, something I haven't been able to do with J all day! Still, our night time sleep has improved, so at least that's something

kbro79 · 07/04/2016 19:46

Hello! Sorry for radio silence. We've had friends staying. There little boy is 21 months and still doesn't sleep through. Gulp. He is very cute though and was nice to have someone to talk too IRL who 'gets' sleep issues. We braved central London - went to picadilly circus like proper tourists.

Sleep is very very very slowly improving. Although he does seem to enjoy a 2 hour baby rave every now and then now. Find that more annoying than the frequent wakings.

Little photo of DS enjoying the bright lights

August 2015: Mugabe Nights better be getting quieter as our babies hopefully learn to sleep better
Coconut0il · 08/04/2016 10:13

I'm there at the baby rave with you kbro DS has never slept through but it used to be wake, feed, sleep.. half an hour and he was back down. About 4 times now he's been up for an hour or two at night. Have to admit I'm not at my best when he decides 1am is the time to get up. He did it last night, I was so tired I propped the iPad up in his cot and put nursery rhymes on YouTube Blush Can't get back to sleep properly but trying to get him to sleep involves crying and wriggling and more crying and I really don't want him to wake DS1 up. He only seems to do it when DP at work the next day so he can't even take him for a bit. He went downstairs to sleep on settee...DP off tomorrow so can take DS down if he wakes but bet he won't.

Love the yellow Silver Cross. Lots for your DS to look at in LondonSmile

Sorry you're still feeling poorly tindel. It's so hard looking after a little one when all you want to do is pull the duvet over your head and rest.

Hope you're DC are feeling a bit better today fatty.

FattyNinjaOwl · 08/04/2016 15:32

DC are still poorly. Last night was hell. I had both boys in bed with me. Luckily DD wanted to stay put in her own bed, but was still up and down all night.
Dp will be here in about 2 hours then he can take over

Equimum · 12/04/2016 09:42

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that these babies decided to sleep, at least a little. DS is also still to sleep through and I think we are actually a long way off achieving that. I generally try not to look at the clock when he wakes, but I do know that he had woken up three time between 11pm and 2am last night! Luckily, though, he's not a raver!

We had a busy weekend as it was DSs christening. That all went well, and it was nice to see friends we don't see very often.

I hope your little ones are feeling better Fatty
