siani I know what you mean. DH managed to settle J really easily last night when I was out - I've been trying for over an hour and a half now. I'm tired, cold and starving. DH is out tonight and not back till later. He gave me this smug little spiel about not just feeding him when he stirs, but its the only way I can settle him. Too much of a wimp to let him cry for long, so stuck with him latched on until he passes out completely...

MaGratgarlik1983 · 20/03/2016 14:52

Oh noes has mugabe's mn branch gone into administration?! I'm still here. We had cold and teething woes this week but enjoying the sunshine today! Hope anyone who's left at the bar is ok. The sleep thing is so tough.

FattyNinjaOwl · 20/03/2016 14:56

I'm still here! I am struggling to get on MN still. It refuses to load, it eats posts. It's pissing me off!
Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend.

Tindel · 20/03/2016 15:55

I'm still here - thought I'd killed the thread! Nice weekend so far, J and DH currently both fast asleep after a day in town. Finally put J in the pushchair bit of our travel system, he's a bit small for it still, but he's much happier being able to see more

Tindel DP has got DS to sleep once, by pushing the pram about the garden for an hour. He almost never wakes when DS does, and he's taken him in the morning let me sleep in exactly three times. He's managed to give DS a bottle twice, when I went out for a haircut, but I don't feel like I could go out at night because he's never dealt with any nighttime stuff. :/ I would so love to look forward to a weekend lie in again!

FattyNinjaOwl · 20/03/2016 20:48

He does look very happy in there tindel
DP can get Nathan to sleep, but not without his dummy. He only has the dummy for sleeping and I'm trying to get him used to settling without then I can hopefully get rid of them soon. I don't think it will happen though. DP keeps shoving it in his gob for no reason. He can be happily playing and he poos the dummy in! Argh!

Coconut0il · 22/03/2016 07:10

Morning Augmums!
DS2 has been waking loads at night and really fighting day sleep. Yesterday he had an hour in the morning and only 20 minutes Confused in the afternoon. DP was on night shifts at work last week so he was gone at night and in bed all day, didn't seem to have a minute. My days are pretty much spent listening to DS2 get frustrated because he can't crawl forwards. He can move backwards and bum shuffles forward so also have to keep stopping him bumping into things! We had tears twice yesterday, once when he scratched his face and then when he bit his own fingersShock

J looks very cute tindel. DS2 prefers forward facing and mainly use our lightweight stroller now, especially for walks from home as can get him ready inside and wheel it out the door. The travel system is a bit too big.

FlowersandCakefor you siani. I haven't been out loads but have managed a few hours out and it is nice to spend some time not doing baby jobs. DS will not take a bottle so DP has to distract as much as he can, it is easier now DS having a bit of food as he'd rather wait till I get back than have any other milk. DP can only get him to sleep by swinging him in the car seatShock Not ideal but every now and then doesn't hurt. Sometimes if I've had a bad night I just change DS nappy in the morning and tell DP to take him down early. He also doesn't wake in the night so only fair he has the early wake up!

I'm with you in the teething hell too magrat

Good luck with the dummy fatty!

Have a good Tuesday all Smile

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/03/2016 12:36

Where is everyone?
DS2 pulled himself up to stand today. He attempted to cruise but fell over. He wasn't very happy.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 24/03/2016 13:31

I was wondering that too fatty! I'm here :) not much to report really aside from me finally making some decisions about work! Am going to go freelance editing and proofreading am applying for a course to formalise what I've been doing for people informally for years. Also audio typing and rewriting English lit critical guides for this publisher so busy busy! Scary but exciting times!

DS is seven months already and teething seems to come in waves. He still has a cough from his bug and yesterday I started feeling coldy urggh! So much doing the rounds. Wow at your DS pulling himself up Fatty! DS is still trying to crawl here. He's got himself onto his hands and knees now but just sort of rocks when he's there. This also displeases him!

What's everyone up to for easter? DH has the bank holiday off yay and I think we might go to this steam train place at some point. Food shopping etc. Ooh and we have a date night on sat - first one for months!! Hopefully go for thai :) off into town in a bit for nappies. Oh the glamour!

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/03/2016 13:34

Rocking on hands and knees means it won't be long before crawling starts!
I'm making Easter eggs in a bit, tomorrow we are going g to decorate some boiled eggs then the park over the weekend me thinks.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 24/03/2016 13:44

Eeeeekkk! Good because not crawling is annoying him but I need to baby proof everything!! Aww egg decorating sounds lovely.

kbro79 · 24/03/2016 15:12

We have a date night tonight!!! Good luck grandma. DS is a massive PITA in the evenings at the moment. Super tired but refusing to sleep.

Easter we are heading back to London. Currently at my mum and dads but heading back down on good Friday. Having a lovely time up north and enjoying the help. We've been swimming nice and had a lovely time wondering round newcastle yesterday.

Hope other augmums and augbabies are well!

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/03/2016 20:08

Nathan has a bump on his head from his climbing antics....
magrat any crawling yet?

Coconut0il · 26/03/2016 20:48

DS2 also has a bump, still not crawling but managing to move by a lean forward/sit back up shuffle. Leant too far forward and landed on a toy.

Wow fatty! Go Nathan, trying to cruise and pulling himself up! He'll soon be on his way! Need to swap the jumperoo for a travel cot to contain DS2 before that happensGrin

Having a hard time with DS2 at the moment. If we stay in and have a quiet day he's very easy. If we stick to a routine he's quite content. But if we try to do anything that involves going out or other people it is sooo stressful. Took him to see a friend who has just had a baby and he cried the whole time, took him into work and he cried everytime someone spoke to him, took him to clinic and he cried at the HV. He cries if Dfil or Dmil speak to him. Have said to DP it's just too much hassle to go out.. I try not to compare but one of my good friends has a slightly older baby and he is so smiley, I am a bit jealous. There never seems to be a reason either. He's not hungry or tired, putting him down or holding him close makes no difference. I know it's just his way but it is hard going.

Freelancing sounds exciting MaGrat Smile

Hope you enjoyed your date night kbro! The way DS2 is at the moment can't imagine ever leaving him with anyone other than DP . No chance of getting out together.

Happy Easter AugmumsEaster Smile DS1 has few eggs for the morning, DS2 has an outfit and an egg... going to take a photo then eat the egg myself! Sorry DS2 sugar is no good for youEaster Wink

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/03/2016 21:22

Haha coconut definitely eat the egg yourself. It sounds like you deserve it.

Coconut0il · 26/03/2016 21:41

Easter Grinfatty I will!
Did you decorate your eggs the other day? DS1 too old and DS2 too little so no decorating for us this year. Our best attempt at decorating was when DS1 was about 5 and he used a whole tub of glitter to decorate one egg.. it was everywhere. DP almost fainted, he hates glitter!

FattyNinjaOwl · 26/03/2016 21:48

No, we've been so busy we will have to do it tomorrow instead. I made one with my DB once, completely covered it in black crepe paper, added black pipe cleaners and googly eyes and he had a spider. He loved it and kept it for weeks Easter Grin

MaGratgarlik1983 · 27/03/2016 19:21

No crawling yet but he's so close! On all fours rocking still but trying to put his arms out. We had a date night last night which was good. Went out to the river and a cafe today. DS sat for the first time!

FattyNinjaOwl · 27/03/2016 19:32

Date night sounds awesome.
I decorated eggs today. A full tub of glitter got poured over my floor!

Coconut0il · 27/03/2016 19:42

GrinGlitter! You'll have a sparkly floor forever fatty!

We haven't had a proper date night for sooo long. I'm jealous MaGrat! Well done your sitting DS Smile

No date night but had a bacon and egg sandwich with DP at the market today. DS2 was there, he's quite happy to be out and about in his pushchair, as long as no strangers talk to him it's fine!

He seemed to know the clocks went forward today and woke an hour earlier... fast asleep now though and it's still lovely and light outside. Makes me feel more cheerful!

FattyNinjaOwl · 27/03/2016 19:49

coconut I'm glittery, never mind my floor!
I didn't realise until we had started how low on craft supplies we are, then remembered I haven't bought any for around 3 years! (I stock up, I have a mahoosive box full usually) so I need to buy more crafty stuff soon, but not until after we've been to the zoo next week!

Coconut0il · 27/03/2016 20:09

I love a sparkly glitter faceGrin. DP hates it but it's a craft box essential. Can't wait for DS2 to get into making things. Loved doing it with DS1, have a massive box in the loft of his creations. Don't know why I'm keeping it but didn't have the heart to throw it out!

What Zoo are you going to? I've only been to Twycross. Booked Drayton Manor today for me, DP, DS1 and his friend and DS2. DS1 can do rides while we do zoo. Don't think we'll do much more this hol as that was £92Shock

FattyNinjaOwl · 27/03/2016 20:14

I'm off to Blackpool zoo. Closest one to me so travel is a lot cheaper (don't drive) and it only cost £40 for the tickets. It will be food and souvenirs that skint me!

PerpetualSummer · 27/03/2016 21:09

Arghh just wrote a massive post and lost it. Grrrr.

Hope everyone is having a nice Easter. We are in France! Returning to London tomorrow and I return to work on Tuesday - not looking forward to it.

Effin - love books and so excited to be reading to my daughter but have decided that going forward we would borrow English books from the library (it's literally a two minute walk away) and buy French books so my husband can read.

MaGrat - sounds like a lovely date night. Have you started baby proofing?

FattyNinjaOwl · 27/03/2016 21:15

Perpetual that happens to me with MN eating posts. Ice started copying them before posting so if it gets eaten I can paste and try again!
I presume your DD will be bilingual? How does that work? You speak only English and dad speak only French?
I met a woman who was teaching her DD to speak in 3 languages, English, Spanish and another one which eludes me now. She was constantly saying the same thing 3 times over, once in each different language. The dad was away for work, so she was trying to teach her alone.
