magrat I'm Envy of your massage! I'm in bed again...this time with pukey toddler. Poor little thing.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 09/03/2016 09:30

Oh noes!!! Book a massage next time your Dp has the kids they are amazing!!! Hope toddler feels better soon x

CraftyPenguin · 09/03/2016 18:15

Huge hugs random. I can't even begin to comprehend what you and your family are going through. You sound very strong. Do you have a lot of support from family and friends?

Can I/how do I, join the fb group please?

Coconut0il · 09/03/2016 19:24

Do you think that's where everyone has gone crafty? Bar Mugabe seems to be closing! Am I too new to join the fb group?

Very jealous of the meal and massage magrat Not so jealous of the 1am screams!

Oh no fatty Are you feeling better yourself?

Flowersrandoms You are coping brilliantly. Hope that you get some rl support now you are telling a few people. I wouldn't think twice about things like the formula and the cleaner you need to do whatever gets you through this difficult time.

Hope the slide is up now loves. Think I may have done something to DP in that situation! I'm the maker in this house... flat pack, lego, playmobil... it's all me! Hope your DD had a lovely birthday. Age 3 is one of my favourite ages, such little characters by then! Smile

DS is so frustrated at the moment, trying so hard to crawl but it's just not happening. Bit of backwards movement but not much else!

FattyNinjaOwl · 09/03/2016 19:48

I don't know how to do the fb group. Confused
I am still here though, just trying to stay off my phone at night times. I'm better now thanks coconut
DD seems to have perked up before bed too so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

DS2 cut a new tooth yesterday. He's also outgrown size 4+ nappies so I have put him in 5s...that's the same as my 2 year old!

Coconut0il · 09/03/2016 20:08

Glad you and your DD are feeling better fatty. I try not to look at my phone at night too, read that the light it gives off can make it harder to sleep and I need all the sleep I can get!

I've got a chunky monkey in size 5's too. DS1 was such a slim little thing don't know how DS2 has got so bigShock I do like his chubby arms and legs though! Good for cuddlesSmile

FattyNinjaOwl · 09/03/2016 20:15

He is really good for squeezing. And he likes being squeezed so I'm happy Grin
DD is my skinny little thing.
DS2 is almost as tall as DD, but is fatter so he's heavier!

Tindel · 09/03/2016 20:59

I'm still here, MN keeps eating my posts. After getting majorly stressed about waking J when we move him from sleeping on our bed to his cot, have pledged to put him down in his cot straight after his feed. He's now been feeding for almost an hour. Am really hoping he falls asleep soon, would quite like to see DH this evening...

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 09/03/2016 21:44

I'm still here! Just had a busy few days, down in London on Monday and at the weekend we had to travel to pick up our new van so that obliterated most of the weekend.

Hope everyone had a good Mothers Day Smile

I usually use cloth nappies but I bought grumpy2 a load of disposables in size 3 when we went away for half term. They definitely should have fitted according to the weight guide on the packet but they are quite snug so I am busy using them up now. Not a problem, gives me a chance to catch up on the holiday washing before the nappies start again!

We had a great night last night just at the point where we thought we would never sleep again. They are monkeys these babies...

Anyway, over the hump now and nearly the weekend. I have a reflexology appointment tomorrow. I can't wait - so relaxing!

loveandsmiles · 10/03/2016 07:29

Morning all🙂

💐 random

mcgrat your Mother's Day sounded lush

coconut. DH built the slide but instead of putting it outside as instructed he left it in middle of playroom and now I can't put it out as DCs enjoying playing on it so much - another lump of plastic taking up whole room!

fatty & coconut can't believe your DC in size 5 nappies already - babyloves still in size 2!!

Off to Mumafit again today even though my legs and stomach muscles aching from yesterday's session - hopefully they will loosen up once I get started!

Getting excited to see my boy tomorrow - he returns from his week away with school. They have posted pics online - he looks very dirty but happy🙂 A giant bag of washing will be heading my way although did tell him if things really dirty just to bin them 😂

randomsabreuse · 10/03/2016 08:27

Thanks everyone.

We're in 3s when we go disposable but probably should be in 2s but for mega capacity issues.

Would post more if they didn't keep getting eaten!

On capacity issues last night DH and I had a long chat we should have had when this all started, our communication has been fairly pants due to overtiredness causing lack of clarity. Faith decided our attention was not enough on her and we had mega weaning poonami complete with evidence. By some miracle only DH's clothes suffered! Probably improved the quality of the chat...

We don't have local parents - mine are in France and DH's aren't local and are starting to have health issues. I also had a nightmare with MIL right when this all started so part of the stress is them needing to stay to visit but driving me insane when they do. Last time they were on orders to "behave" which was more uncomfortable as they just ignored me and Faith when they were supposed to be here to get to know her so I could go into appointments easier. DH has more plans for a "better" chat with them. We do have good friends but the best help is that we seem to have found how to get F to sleep 6 hours again. Although the 5am mystery crossed lines call hopefully to emergency services was surreal and unhelpful - phone rang, was someone speaking about chest pains and someone responding - no idea how that rand our landline!

Would love a mumafit class. Definitely going to start couch to 5k with my eye on a pretty muddy race for life in July! At least I should have childcare options!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 10/03/2016 19:56

Nggguuuuhhhhh. Teething. Separation anxiety. Nguuhhhh!

Coconut0il · 10/03/2016 21:36

Oh no magrat. I'll add nngguuuhhh frustrated can't crawl moaning! Stop rolling over DS, then you won't be stuck on your tummy like a beached whale Grin Almost turned to WineWineat about 4... Good job DP was back from work at 6 to give me a break from the moaning!
Had to get out of the house today so went and got DS2 a toothbrush and DS1 some new school trousers, he's only 12 and taller than me now Shock

Good work on the 6 hours sleep baby random . Shame about your PIL, the last thing you need is more stress.

Really missed DS1 when he went on his residential loves. It's so strange when they're not there. Hope your DS had a fab time and doesn't bring home too much dirt.
Grinat the indoor slide. Our back garden is like a mud pit after all the rain so think I'd keep it inside if I had space!

How was the reflexology slow? Had it with DS1 when I went over, was hoping to get it again with DS2 but it wasn't offered Sad. Didn't start my labour but was very relaxing! Is it a caravan you've picked up? DPIL have one and we love caravan holidays.

Hope you got some time with your DH tindel. DP does a range of shifts and some days we've gone to bed before he gets in. I do miss him but we try to do something in the day if he's off. Went out for lunch on Tues which was nice. Evenings together are a bit non existent as DS has to go upstairs about 7, he gets so grumpy downstairs, and he only wants me.

Love chunky baby cuddles fatty. DS2 is definitely my last so cuddling him as much as I can!

Hope you've had a good day crafty .

Night all!

EffinIneffable · 10/03/2016 21:56

I'm still here. Just been lazy. Ds, normally a 40-min max napper, has today rocked out 3 hour and a half naps...!?!? WTF? No idea why or whether this means we're in for a better or worse night than usual...

In other news, does anyone have a sleepyhead? Trying to decide whether to get the bigger version now ds is rather tightly squeezed in, or whether to just get him used to sleeping on the mattress.

random hope that plan-making was productive and well done F for giving you a bit more sleep. You sound like you're coping so well, but allow yourself time too.

fatty and coconut ds is also a big squeezable chunk though not quite in size 5s yet. I love it!

magrat and slo ooh I so need to book in reflexology and / or a massage! I have a pass for a baby-free couple of hours next Friday, sounds like a plan!

crafty sounds like a really difficult situation, not helped by lack of sleep, well done for keeping it together.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 10/03/2016 22:48

coconut, effin definitely recommend reflexology. So relaxing, always makes me feel so much better afterwards mentally and physically. I think it's the combined effect of the treatment and also having an hour to myself where I can't do anything else other than relax totally. It's awesome.

It was a camper van we picked up. Our old one has finally become just too rusty which is very sad because we've had some great holidays in him. Having said that the new one is beautiful so I think we'll cope okay with the change Wink

Grumpy 2 is my last baby too so lots and lots of squishy cuddles here. I don't know whether to place too much credence on it but she is a much more relaxed baby than her big sister was, I wonder if it's cuddle related??

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/03/2016 03:17

DD was supposed to be my last. DS2 was a surprise

Tindel · 11/03/2016 08:46

Morning all! Got back from my dance class last night to a frazzled DH, as J hadn't settled until about 5 minutes before I got back and he'd had a lot of screaming. Rushed to bed to get as much sleep before his normal 2am feed... He slept through til 730! Just cannot work this baby's sleep pattern out - he clearly can go through the night, it would be lovely if we could have it a bit more often.

slow reflexology sounds lovely - have been trying to book a massage in for ages now. Its the one thing I would have done regularly if I had the money. Must get more organised!

Right, time to move sleeping baby and get stuff done before he's up for the day - happy Friday everyone

CraftyPenguin · 11/03/2016 09:59

Waves Good morning everyone!

Coconut I did wonder if fb was where everyone had gone (and I also wondered if I too was too new to join!) but it seems to be busier here again now.

Fatty & Coconut your babies are in size 5 nappies already? 😱 I've only just bought size 4s for DD this week (so I'm trying to use up all her size 3s now).

Loves I hope you have a lovely mini reunion with you ds today and hope that he had a great time away :)

Wow Tindel that sounds like a great night!

Sleep is still rubbish here, although saying that, last night was slightly better. We decided to try putting DD in her own room. She went down about 11.15 so we waited for the 12ish feed that's suddenly made an appearance the last week or so. At 12.30 she niggled but got herself back to sleep. If she had been in our room, dh would have got up. She then lasted another hour until 1.30. Then she went back in her cot until 3am and she screamed a blood curling awful scream. It's like she knew she was alone. Dh then fed her and I told him to bring her in with me to Co sleep (as she won't go in her cot from about 4am onwards) and next thing I know he was waking me up at 6.15 to have her. She lasted 2.5 hours co sleeping with him. I can't believe I'm saying 2.5 hours is good 😂 I remember when 2.5 hours was bad as she used to be able to do 3.5/4 hours! Oh well, I can't complain as I got some sleep so the terrible mood I was in yesterday has lifted a bit.

Nothing else new to report here. We went to our music group on Wednesday which was nice. Still not getting anywhere with houses/jobs.

Happy (nearly) weekend all!

kbro79 · 11/03/2016 10:32

Hello we are still here. Just had a busy week.

Popped into my office to start the 'part time' chat. Got to work on my case for this weekend.

We popped to baby sensory yesterday. Was so nice. DS really enjoyed it. Was just a trail but hoping we can get on to the class.

Saw a friend yesterday who's baby was wakings every 2 hours. They did gradual withdrawal method of sleep training and now he sleeps 11 hours. Still not sure sleep training is for us but 11 hours!! Made me think. Does involve crying though which I don't tend have the stomach for.

crafty I keep debating putting DS into his own room but can't face spending all night popping back and forth. My mum thinks he might sleep better on his own and it would be nice to have our room back. But can't decide. His cot doesn't fit through the door way so every time we move it we have to take it down and rebuild.

Hurray for Friday. DS is having a nice lap nap whilst I catch up on last nights double Enders.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 11/03/2016 10:49

Ooh that enders was good! Just chillin with a happy DS who slept til 10 this morning??! Typical as DH is off so he's super well behaved not complaining though! Decided to try spacing feeds better as I think I was trying to feed DS too often and was annoying him. Not sure how to fit in three meals plus all the milk.

I would really recommend massage. It physically helps me and totally relaxes me. Just having that hour to myself lifts me so much.

Went to the launch of a new group yesterday but the difference us its aimed more at moms. So you can take baby and there's toys etc but the actual talks are about creative or interesting professional / academic topics. Felt great to use my brain again. I came home and made a pro con list of applying for this new job at my work that's basically my job. Still can't decide what to do. Anyhoo we're off to a wedding this weekend so wish us luck!!

randomsabreuse · 11/03/2016 10:59

Had to do one of the most frustrating things in parenting last night. Change a nappy on a peacefully sleeping baby. My mum ears heard the unmistakable sounds of a poo as we were sleeping at 3.30 am, considered ignoring it but decided better not. Had bloody mucus so off to docs this pm.

As a result have started a food diary - S Health app doesn't have a breastfeeding setting so will go over the suggested calories for my weight but step counter will be interesting. Also food diary for F.

Enough drama from me...

I'd post more if the stoopid tab didn't keep crashing. Am also trying not to post/read on my phone at night to minimise insomnia.

Can't face putting F in here own room. She settles herself unless she needs something and we don't wake her up even when we're having a fairly involved discussion so it would just make dealing harder. Plus the 2nd spare room is rather handy at the moment! I know I'm lucky on that score!

Coconut0il · 11/03/2016 11:20

Smile Lots to read this morning!

Will try to post more later when DS2 is asleep but actually going out tonight for a few hours so really looking forward to that! Will only be for a bit as DS will not really settle for DP. He either has to swing him in the car seat, but he's so heavy now, or keep pushing him in the pushchair. Sorry DP!

DS2 doesn't even have a room to move into Shock We only have 2 bedrooms and can't really make DS1 share, the age gap is too big so DS2 will be in with us for a while. Long term plan is to partition off downstairs extension and make that a room for DS1 but not yet. Feel a bit guilty as DS1 had a lovely room all decorated with matching curtains and bedding and poor DS2 has a corner of our room!

Have a good Friday everyone Smile

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 11/03/2016 18:53

Ah don't worry coconut DS2 is never going to remember / care about his sleeping arrangements at this age. I've come to the conclusion that most of the things we feel guilty about as parents entirely pass our babies by...

EffinIneffable · 11/03/2016 20:43

We went book shopping today! It was hard not to come home with a massive library! I used to work in children's publishing and I do love a good picture book. There are such brilliant creative writers and illustrators working now, although we did come home with a few classics - Inc Meg and Mog and We're Going on a Bear Hunt. I also had a small cry reading While the World Was Waiting For You, a beautiful book.

Enjoy your night out coconut. Good practice for DH.

I hope F is feeling better, random. You have enough on your plate just now.

I can't face putting ds in his own room either. DH is keen to have our room back and the cats in the bed, but it's so much easier for night feeds and to be honest I just really like him near me. We've just painted his room but we're going to put new carpet down too (DH's idea!) so I have a wee while yet.

magrat that group sounds great, to be honest half the groups are really for the mums benefit anyway, so might as well do something adult focused. I've seen a bring your baby art gallery tour soon I might go to.

crafty I caught myself saying to my neighbour the other day how sleep was not too bad at all - waking only every 2-3 hours - and it was only the look on his face that made me realise how crazy it sounded! But it is good when you've been up every hour or less!

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/03/2016 23:18

Argh! MN keeps eating my posts. Angry
Anyways...
effin my house is basically a library. We have hundreds of books. Literally. Over 400 children's books at last count. Then there's a 3 or 4 hundred books of mine... and I wonder why I have no storage space

Nathan will be in with me until I've saved up enough money to redecorate the back bedroom. It hasn't been decorated at all since I moved in as it wasn't needed until DD came along, and as I got pregnant so quickly I never got round to it, so I'm going to decorate it for both of them. I'm thinking Dino's. DD loves Dino's, and its not too babyish so I won't have to re do it in a year or two.
