Our babies are teething, screaming and generally not sleeping, but we're still JS-ing - it's Just Mumming 10!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Essie if you PM me your name and a description of your profile pic, I can add you to the fb group x

Hobbit19 · 07/01/2016 19:01

Love that this forum is busier between the hours of midnight and four than it is during the day!

Good news: nipple pain is much better. I no longer have to bite on a wooden spoon for latching on.

Really, really shit news: MIL has bowel cancer. They are not sure if it is a new bowel cancer or if it is something that has appeared from the kidney cancer she had 5 years ago, so we don't know the prognosis yet. Totally gutted as we are all very close. Really need a massive fuck off glass of wine but think P might be a bit too small to be metabolising alcohol. Therefore eating a whole bar of chocolate instead. V sad.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 07/01/2016 19:17

pud I'm so sorry about your MIL. How long before she will get a prognosis?

popz I'll pm you.

Toast85 · 07/01/2016 19:29

Oh gosh you lot have been busy today! Hi ga!

We had a nice day with friend and her lo, went for a walk and coffee and lots of chat. Melba is mid-leap so lots of boobing needed too. When she's not screaming at my nipple, that's new and not nice!

So can someone tell me why she will sleep happily on the sofa during the day but not in her carrycot? I don't want to leave her on the sofa but the second she touches the carrycot mattress her eyes ping open and she cries if I try to take my hands away. Whereas if I put her down asleep next to me on the sofa, she'll stay asleep. What's the difference?

Pud that's really sad news, sorry. I hope your mil gets better news about prognosis at least. Do you live nearby?

Hobbit19 · 07/01/2016 19:37

MIL sees another surgeon tomorrow so may get more news then but won't get a CT scan until the 21st to check to see if it has spread. Then the cancer team meet on Thursdays to discuss treatment so we will know a treatment plan by the end of the month. If it is 'just' early stage bowel cancer then the prognosis is very good so fingers crossed for that. Toast we live around the corner from them!

No advice re the sofa I'm afraid. Babies are weird! Have you tried warming it up with a hot water bottle first maybe?

purplewhale · 07/01/2016 19:53

Pud I hope your mil is ok. My grandad had it twice, both times it was successfully removed and he lived to 93. I know everyone is different but if caught early the prognosis is good.

B is much better today, still not sure whether to go swimming tomorrow. He doesn't have a temp, just a cough but it's not that bad now

Hobbit19 · 07/01/2016 21:16

Thanks Purple, glad your wee man is doing better.

RPopz · 07/01/2016 21:49

Really sorry about your MIL Pud - fingers crossed they've caught it nice and early x

Hobbit19 · 08/01/2016 00:30

Thanks RPopz. Currently in hour 5 of non stop cluster feeding....

DulcetMoans · 08/01/2016 00:52

That's very sad news pud. How has she been about it? I bet 21st seems like an age away when it's something like this

I was going to suggest something similar about the hot water bottle toast - could it be the temp change?

Glad B is feeling better purple. Do you think he is strong enough to enjoy swimming? If you think he is up to it then give it a go? Fresh air and change of scene might help - is it drop in so you can leave straight away if needed?

Jcandy · 08/01/2016 03:18

I'm sorry to hear that pud how is your dh taking it?
Did your cluster feed stop in the end?

Glad B is feeling a bit better purple Smile

Could just be sods law toast! But I hope the hot water bottle thing works. We've been putting the moses basket mattress on the radiator for a minute to warm it up before G goes in it.

Ah she slept through her crazy time this evening which means I've already had 2 hours sleep tonight! Hoping she goes down for another couple of hours now like she has been doing recently. I've probably jinxed it now haven't I!

Hobbit19 · 08/01/2016 05:18

MIL and DH both very positive. DH thinks his DM is invincible which worries me slightly but it is good to be positive.

P finished cluster feed after 5 hours. Nipples had stopped hurting yesterday but are unsurprisingly a little sore again. Now back on the boob.

Toast85 · 08/01/2016 05:47

I'm sure your MIL will be glad you guys are nearby and that babypud will provide a welcome distraction for her pud.

I'll try to warm the mattress! We have our first baby sensory today so I think she'll be knackered and need a decent sleep this afternoon here's hoping so fingers crossed.

Hobbit19 · 08/01/2016 05:50

Toast could you also try putting rolled up towels on the carry cot to make it smaller so baby feels 'held'?

LaLaLaaaa · 08/01/2016 06:30

Morning! Another hideous night here. No idea when wake ups were it all mushes together.

Every morning now at 5am he's wide awake and does poo so needs nappy change. How long should I leave it before going to Dr about his increased pooing? It's one an hour. Or is it normal? They don't seem green, just plentiful. He's not dehydrated.

Essie hooray for mot and sleeping!

Pud I'm really sorry to hear about your mil. It's lovely that you have such a good relationship with her . Good to hear about latch improving too. Have you seen a lactation consultant? They can check latch and help. Mine was invaluable! She is a volunteer with nct so available for hell if needed.

Toast - because babies are cunning little fuckers who can sense a transfer a mile off! B will sleep on me and not stir an inch even if I were to dangle him by a foot I don't by the way by if I gently pace him in sleepyhead his eyes snap open and he flails like an octopus

Also try hugging to keep her in position as you put her down and the. Keep pressure on for a minute or two when you put her down, to make her feel she's still being held. She'll relax after a minute or so and you can then let go. I hold Bs legs down!

Jcandy · 08/01/2016 06:32

We've been awake since 5 over here. She's just settling down again after 2 feeds and 2 nappy changes.

It's amazing how quickly they get sore after cluster feeding isn't it!

LaLaLaaaa · 08/01/2016 06:35

Purple I think fresh air is best thing for babies after cold. If it's not in his chest and he's otherwise fine I'd take him.

Cluster feeding is a bitch but it doesn't last forever. Grit your teeth and get the box set on. I found once I mentally gave myself up to it it got a lot easier.

Met up with Before yesterday - you'll have seen from Facebook. She's lovely. Nice to chat to a viroid in RL and we had a giggle

B went swimming yesterday, first time since before hip splint went on so he was a lot bigger. He loved it! His little face was a picture!

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 08/01/2016 06:43

I just want to put something g out there. I can't stand pictures of babies or other kids with faces covered in food! I find it utterly gross !

All my mates are weaning their babies and exert time I log on there's a pic of a face smeared in pasta sauce, or spaghetti, or purée! YUck!

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 08/01/2016 07:06

Apologies if any of you have done this. Your babies are, of course, exempt because they are fabulous

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 08/01/2016 07:58

Ok night. Fed a few times but it all merges together. Got up at 6am so early but acceptable.

Trying to do my tax return and I can't find my p60. Hmm

Hang in there with the cluster feeding. I found that it came and went a bit in the first 8 weeks but once I was through the first 3 weeks it got more manageable.

La I'm not wild about the food smeared faces either! though when ds gets to that stage no doubt I'll find it cute

gaggiagirl · 08/01/2016 08:31

pixie Ragnar is soooooo beautiful I agree. Last night I watched Vikings, the strain and modern family to keep me occupied. I've sent cross ginger for time out again because I'm sick of her OCD and I didn't let her tap her toothbrush this morning so hysterics all round.

RPopz · 08/01/2016 10:33

I actually miss clusterfeeding Blush It was a good excuse to sit on my arse in front of the telly all day! Grin Its frustrating at first though, especially the night time ones.... Definitely find yourself a nice boxset and a thermal mug! And don't worry about housework etc. You're building a human Smile

Hope you enjoy baby sensory toast - fingers crossed for a mega nap.

I'd go swimming if B seems better today purple. Might do you both good to get out of the house.

We're meant to be going to songtime at the library this morning but I'm still sat on my arse on the sofa and we're both still in PJs. Minipopz has got ANOTHER cold Angry He's like a snot fountain!

Got to go to stepMIL's surprise birthday party tonight so the semblance of a bedtime routine I've managed to claw back after all the Christmas shenanigans is going to be buggered up again!

RPopz · 08/01/2016 10:34

I think I might be guilty of food smeared baby pictures La!! Blush

What does she want to do with her toothbrush ga??

LaLaLaaaa · 08/01/2016 13:41

She taps her toothbrush? I used to do stuff like this!

Don't worry popz your baby is exempt because he's a viroid baby and viroids are cool. The person I'm talking about is same one I ranted about the other day, who thinks I should just put B on solids. She's been weaning 3 days and there's been a picture a day of food smeared baby.

Got a text from her today asking when I'm weaning B. Also asking where he's going to nursery. This is the person I told you all about ages ago, who turns up to same baby groups as me and it irritates the fuck out of me because she irritates people and everyone always thinks she's my friend and that we come as a pair. I didn't tell her where B is signed up for nursery but she's going to look there. I'm going to have to move away aren't I?
