Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Hi all. This newborn shiz is ruddy hard! He was a dream in hospital. Change feed sleep for three hours. Not so much when at home it would seem

Not fb and didn't realise my milk would still come on. Ouuuuuch. Don't get me wrong they look amazing but dear god. I also look a bit like an uncooked sausage with a case that's too big. Anyone else. No? Just me then

CountryGal4 · 06/03/2016 07:44

Ergh not fb ..... Bf

DulcetMoans · 06/03/2016 09:46

Happy Mother's Day viroids! Thanks

Welcome country! They make up the rules as they go! We haven't really mastered sleep either but I did notice that J is more tired if we have had a light show of some kind at sensory. I have been looking for something that does a little light show on the ceiling but doesn't play music. Not sure how practical a suggestion that is!

Good nights sleep there then carrot! Hope it can be repeats tonight for you.

Aw, the NCT reunion will be fun in sure jelly. Try get a photo of the babies! We missed the opportunity at ours and still regret it.

Great news on the PPI payment la! What sort of clothes you going for? Thinking I might need a new work wardrobe soon but hate trying on clothes!

Watch out cookie, I think broodiness is contagious!

RPopz · 06/03/2016 10:11

Starting to feel a little more human today Smile

Happy Mothers day girls!

Country - newborns are pretty sleepy for the first couple of days after birth as it tires them out. They kind of lull you into a false sense of security with it. Newborns are generally "upside down" / nocturnal for a while, won't be put down, feed all night etc etc.... It's all normal but it won't be forever. All they really want at this point is you. How come you're not trying breastfeeding? (Curiousity, not trying to convert you Wink Feel free to tell me to bugger off)

CarrotPuff · 06/03/2016 10:30

Thanks La, don't think it's birth related, I had the same issues with DS. Same side too. I'm sure it will just get better on its own, right side has pretty much healed and feeding is pain free, still working on left, but it was more damaged at the start so will probably take a bit longer.

Ouch Country, it should settle down in a couple days, I think the advice if you're not planning to BF is to not touch them at all. Not sure how realistic is that...

We've got family coming today to meet O, I should probably get out of bed...

LaLaLaaaa · 06/03/2016 10:42

Country I think it might hurt for a few days but it should then get better. I will ask my mate who didn't bf. Try not to let shower go on them at all as that stimulates them.

I got a card from B (and bizarrely Dh - don't think he knows how this works!). Nothing else. Bit disappointed as I would've liked a silly trinket like a 'mum' mug or something but hey there are more important things to worry about in life. Off to Guildford shopping for clothes :)

not posted in a while but been trying to keep up and reading through. country im a bottle feeder and when my milk came in they were quite tender for about 3 days and really swollen and they did leak quite a lot at night but then they settled down. one boob did leak on and off for about 3 or 4 weeks though but not much. hope that helps

Hobbit19 · 06/03/2016 14:33

Ouch Country, that sounds sore. I believe cabbage leaves are the shiz ford this. Cabbage in the fridge, leaf on each boob, change every few hours. Oh yeah and the lulling you in to a false sense of security thing with their newborn sleeping is mean! Roll with the crazy feeding and need for constant cuddles, it doesn't last too long.

Had a lovely Mother's Day with lots of family here. Total chaos with babies, toddlers and cats but it is the best kind of chaos!

Lalathelastdinosaur · 06/03/2016 17:42

Such a good day shopping. I have actual nice bras again, like not nursing ones. Going to wear them to work as I'll only be feeding when at home. From Bravissimo - they were lovely! Let me feed B in the changing rooms too.

Got boots too and some clothes for work, had Mexican for lunch and B was an angel all day.

No MD pressie - got a card weirdly signed from 'dh and B' - do you think my dh thinks I'm his mum? It would explain a lot.

Lalathelastdinosaur · 06/03/2016 17:43

PS thought it was about time for a name change - wipe slate clean n all that

RPopz · 06/03/2016 19:11

Lol, I like the new name La Smile I keep toying with the idea of a new name but what would it be!?

I think you might have to hand express off the tiniest amount of milk so that you don't get mastitis? But other than that obviously avoid stimulating them to avoid milk production. Better to go slowly slowly with these things than get infected norks.... Can't they prescribe something to dry milk up?

CarrotPuff · 06/03/2016 19:44

I think Sudafed can reduce your milk supply.

purplewhale · 06/03/2016 20:10

I also want a new name. I was a whale when heavily pregnant. I feel less whale-like now. Not sure what to be instead

purpleporpoise · 06/03/2016 20:11

Testing name change

Lalathelastdinosaur · 06/03/2016 20:37

Rpoopz? Grin

Lalathelastdinosaur · 06/03/2016 20:38

Purplesveltegorgeousmum

purpleporpoise · 06/03/2016 20:41

BlushBlushBlushBlushLa thanks

honeysucklejasmine · 06/03/2016 22:54

Apparently peppermint tea can reduce your supply?

CarrotPuff · 06/03/2016 23:04

Yes I've heard that too.

DulcetMoans · 07/03/2016 01:59

Argh, not name changing! That's too much for my tiny brain! At least they are similar enough to work it out.

I've heard that about peppermint tea as well honey. Not sure why!

Hi kbb. Good to see you're still around.

Whats the house situation popz? Are we on the move?!

Not sure about the thinking behind card from DH la, did you ask him? Silly sausage! Maybe he didn't when Ben to get all the credit!

honeysucklejasmine · 07/03/2016 02:24

Today I am trying the night feeds on my own. So far so good... A is fed and burped and sleeping on my lap whilst I pump. As she is indeed capable of sleeping through the noise of it. Odd child. DH back at work today (!) so thought I'd give him some sleep. A is pretty good at napping so I can catch up during the day. Don't worry, I will totally wake him up if I need to. No martyr's here.

CountryGal4 · 07/03/2016 02:43

Thanks viroids. Mw said yesterday basically don't touch! They're not quite as painful today but have started to leak a bit at night. Will try the tea and sudafed.

Combo of really shite joints and massively restricted diet were the main reasons for ff. it's going well and working for us so happy to carry on as is. It's been hugely helpful and nice for dh to be so involved with feeding too

Thanks for all the advice re sleep stealer. Nice to know everyone else had the same. I will continue to tell myself ... This will not last forever!

CarrotPuff · 07/03/2016 05:20

That's great you have DH's support Country. I wish mine could give O a boob sometimes... Getting nipple shields today!

Had great time with DP's family visiting yesterday. SIL had a baby almost 4 weeks ago, but she was born weighing only 5lbs and a bit, and was still smaller than O! Was fun comparing their sizes... And then DS went a bit berserk at bedtime after they left, poor DP had to deal with tired tantruming child.

Not sure whether to allow O just sleep on my chest till the morning or attempt putting her in a crib. She was grizzling there all night...

Lalathelastdinosaur · 07/03/2016 06:12

Carrot I feel your pain! I spend a lot of my nights holding a sleeping child who will only wake and grizzle if I put him in his cot. At least I get peace if I hold him to check MN

Country newborns are hard work! Hope you're doing ok? It gets easier

Honey how come you're expressing as well as feeding A? Do you have to do it? It's a lot of work on top of caring for a baby

jellypi3 · 07/03/2016 08:40

I also feel your pain carrot, R is a velcro baby at night. But i do cherish the cuddles because she's growing up so fast.

country R has just realised night time is mainly for sleep! So it does get better I promise!

My nan sat with R last night while I got some sleep. She rocked her to sleep each time I fed her! Life saver!
