Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Hello all, its so hard to keep up when I am at work.

Re those who are weaning, my only advice of using Ella (which we love in this house ) is to not use too many of the 6+ or 7+ as almost all the savoury ones have fruit in them!

Re Sleeping, it does get better up until E was 9 months almost every single nap (excluding car and pushchair naps) was on me.

Re Broody, yup definitely broody!!

PixieChops · 02/02/2016 14:03

Am I still allowed in? no idea wtf is going on but love you lot too much to end up speaking to a bunch of women I don't know all that well. Plus who the fuck can I whinge at about my irritating mil?!

RPopz · 02/02/2016 14:18

Welcome to the dark side jelly! Grin How's it going? As already suggested - swaddling/ rolled up towels/ hot water bottle in the crib will all make her feel "held". But its pretty normal that she won't be put down. Try and get some zzzz's in the day BrewCake

I am also broody and proud!! No fricking clue what's going on with my cycles but we JSed last night anyway. Though technically shouldn't be until we find out what's going on with the house.... Still not heard anything from the cockwomble who is meant to be buying our house AngryAngry

February is turning out to be a shower of shite so far Sad

WilHarlot · 02/02/2016 14:54

Oh God am I going to have to reignite my MN addiction just to get a bit of Tee love now? Sorry, you flounced Tee but understand your need for no extra drama in your life Wink.

Dare I say it, even I am broody with all the new babies. I know in my sensible head we couldn't cope with another one though so hoping it passes. Plus it's nice to get to know the emerging personality of the almost-toddler without having the distraction of a new baby I guess desperately searches for silver lining.

Hi to anyone I don't know. Not sure how often I'll post as my phone hasn't enough memory space to re download the app!

RM00054 · 02/02/2016 15:46

Alrighty, I'm going to see if I can keep up with the Fred now!
(Place marking)

Trurouge · 02/02/2016 16:03

Same here RM00054. I'd totally lost rack of everything on here and took forever to find it!

ZylaB · 02/02/2016 17:30

I'm completely confused about Fb but have been busy with grandparents here. I luffs you all!! And I'm broody too!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 02/02/2016 17:52

There's an app????!! I've always gone onto chrome on my phone to come on here. Blush

No idea wtf is going on either since I'm only recently back from being mia, but I'm sad there is crap happening on the fb page, and sad it's lost some really lovely people who have been an immense help to me.

I'm now going to post all my questions here instead since then I can continue to access the combined wisdom that is the viroids.

So... my next question is, thermometers? I have been fannying about with a digital one which I have told hold in DS's armpit, so the reading I get off it is vague at best since he is usually squirming about. What sort do other people have? Should I get one of those fancy ear ones the Dr uses? They seem v expensive? I've only ever worried about the temperature of my horse when he's unwell in the past and shoving a thermometer up his arse to take his temp is a damn sight easier than trying to get one from the arm pit of a 20 week old baby. (I have two thermometers incase anyone was wondering). Last night DS definitely had a temperature following his jabs so it made me think I really ought to get my act together and get a better thermometer.

As for broody, hell yes, I'd love to do all this again. Grin My body needs a bit of time to recover though I think, not to mention there is no way I can even contemplate jsing right now.

Popz have you heard anything?

FrenchLetter · 02/02/2016 17:53

Evenin' all! Couldn't risk losing you lot so I am here at your service for all things boobing related or attachment parenting related. These last few weeks of being with sprog and my disappointment in my birth have led me to realise I am a fucking hippy and I love it. So, if you need advice on cloth from birth or someone to chat to about natural term weaning then I'm your viroid. (I also do a nice line in wine, French and profanity.)

As you were.

teejayem · 02/02/2016 18:30

Oh god it's like broody anonymous! I am too. Still no AF PP tho. I managed to convince mr tee that if we start about this time next year then we have enough time to aim for a 2 1/2 year gap which is what I'm after ideally.

The other part of me just thinks, fuck it, let's just have another one now. And then I remember we are fucking skint.

purplewhale · 02/02/2016 18:40

I'm thinking next year. I don't have buckets of time due to my age but I'd like a 2 year gap. MrPurple refuses to discuss!

Fleurchamp · 02/02/2016 18:42

I had a KIT day, nothing like a bit of office politics to make you broody just for another round of Mat leave....

I have one of those in ear thermometers, it was a present so I am not sure about the cost. I kind of figure that they must be good if the dr uses them but I am not sure if they are that accurate for tiny ones as the probe but doesn't go in far enough to their ear.

It worked on me though Smile

Fleurchamp · 02/02/2016 18:44

purple I am thinking next year too - think we will start ttc next Jan. DH doesn't want another summer baby Hmm

We can JS together Grin

Fleurchamp · 02/02/2016 18:45

Oh and toast I hated all of the nurseries. None of them are good enough for my precious snowflake. None of them.... Angry

kbb23 · 02/02/2016 18:54

essies we also have an ear thermometer it seems quite accurate i think. our baby monitor has broken and we just get a refund not a replacement so thinking of getting a video one anyone have any recommendations?

purplewhale · 02/02/2016 18:59

We had a no contact one that you hold 3-5cm from their forehead. I found it varied wildly.
I've just got an ear one from tesco direct using club card boost

We got some 6m+ dummies. I asked MrP what to do with the others - chuck or keep for no 2, he said keep for no 2. I don't know if that's the best idea re the dummies but he's obviously not averse

LaLaLaaaa · 02/02/2016 19:21

Thank fuck you're all here!

Where've you been all my life?

Will catch up later. Baby just fell asleep on bad boob for first time in a month after a feed on it!! Result!

As you were...

Toast85 · 02/02/2016 19:48

Hooray for you, your boob and for Jill la! Perseverance is paying off Smile

cookielove · 02/02/2016 20:40

We have a Braun ear thermometer, we have the latest model. I really rate them are previous one stopped working (kept saying err or giving us really high readings 41+) they sent a replacement out to me and I recieved it within a week and I didn't need to provide a proof of purchase.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 02/02/2016 21:26

Thanks all. Ear thermometer it is then. Yay for your functional boob la!

PixieChops · 02/02/2016 21:45

Well
Nobody's said I can't come in so I'm bloody here now.
Hope everyone's alright after the "incident".
Nothing to report here really apart from Rivers trying to walk and I don't want him to. I mean which one do I run after when they go in opposite directions? Think I'll go for the one that hasn't pissed me off the most that day!

PixieChops · 02/02/2016 21:46

Hooray for boob juice La!
Think we have a Philips ear thermometer. It's a bit weird. Sure it records previous temps but not sure how to get rid of them. I need to find the manual really.

RPopz · 02/02/2016 21:48

Why wouldn't we let you in pixie?? Grin

DulcetMoans · 02/02/2016 21:51

Well it looks like it is going to get a lot busier in here, which will be nice in the early hours. Although keeping up with this, the FB group, 9 games of scrabble and my ebay shopping might mean I don't have time to do the nightime feeds!

Sounds like there will be a new litter of JSing babies next year as well. I'm still too shell shocked!

Seconding. third-ing the rolled up towel, hot water bottle jelly. We did it for weeks. But still held him a lot. It will pass, but that is hard to imagine at 3am on the 5th day of being awake!

Thank god for the boob relief la! Hopefully the start of things getting better.

I need to get a thermometer as well Essie. HV and GP have asked about his temp before and I never know! GP suggested I invest last visit.

We only saw three nurseries toast, which I suppose isn't too bad. A lot of it was just based on a 'feeling'. And then price, that shit be £££!

Will update you all on the CO tomorrow. I have already decided it won't work, which isn't good. I know what it is, but I kind of don't know either. I am looking at it a it like the acupuncture when TTC - I decided that would only work if I believed in it and I already don't believe in CO. But I am desperate!

Hobbit19 · 03/02/2016 02:00

Morning shaggers!

Pixie, you absolutely have to post here, I love your rants!

Jelly, I'm SURE that you can figure this out for yourself so please forgive me for being super patronising but it is not clear in the posts above and I presume you are in newborn fug but when we say put a hot water bottle in the crib, that is just to warn the crib and you take it out before you put the baby in! (Told you it was patronising - sorry!!)

Yey for 2 sided boobing La!

Tee my cactus is still spiky. FFS. '6 week' obgyn check up is not until 29th Feb (more like 10 weeks PP). If I am still spiky
