Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Good luck today la. Hope you get answers quickly.

If you're organised enough to take the sweet potato purple, and you'll be somewhere you can feed him then have a go. Sweet potato was a massive hit here! How did the first night in the other room go?

Ouch! Bad day essie! How's your arse today? Did someone tell you about your separated muscles? Someone mentioned it the other day and I hadn't heard it before. Oh and there are two bottle refuses in my antenatal group - one is taking it now but the other not. They were syringing but the bigger they get, the more the need and the less suitable that might be.

Feeling better today popz? Heard anything about house?!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 01/02/2016 14:11

OMG, not only did he defrost the freezer but he buggered off to work leaving me with a buggy with a puncture! He took DS out for a walk yesterday pm and got a puncture, didn't mend it and didn't bother to mention it to me either. Seriously, who's patio can I use?

la thinking of you today.

popz hoping you get good house news.

dulcet, arse is a lot better thanks! They diagnosed my stomach muscles straight after delivery. I'd been complaining a lot about pain at the front of my bump for about 3 weeks before DS was born and it was even worse after delivery. I couldn't get out of bed on my own because the pain was so bad (and that's after a 10lb baby via forceps delivery and an epi - the stomach pain was still worse!). I had 4cm of separation from top to bottom, not a pretty sight! When I coughed or sneezed I had to hold a towel across my tummy for the first couple of weeks to stop my insides poking out. It was gross. However, it's apparently very common, but I just had an extreme case apparently. It's much better now and I'm not in any discomfort.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 01/02/2016 14:12

Here's how you can check your stomach muscles.

Forgot the idea of taking sweet potato out, will give him some for tea.

He was fine in his room, he woke up with a smile this morning, totally none the wiser Smile

Toast85 · 01/02/2016 17:53

Howdy all.
La hope you're doing ok and not too sore.
Purple how did the sweet potato go down? Hope you all slept ok in separate rooms! I can't imagine how I'll sleep without Melba in the room at the moment!
Essie bad times! Hope there wasn't too much boob juice in the freezer!

Nights are going pretty well here once I can finally get Melba off my boob. She literally wants it in her mouth for hours. Not drinking, just for comfort. I'm glad I can provide it for her but really struggling to get her down for naps or bedtime. Once she's gone to bed she sleeps well but it's been taking 2/3 hours to get her into her crib for bedtime lately. And forget about naps in her crib! She's only slept for half an hour on dh and half an hour in the sling today. She's now catnapping on the boob. She gets around 12 hours in total overnight so I know she does sleep an ok amount I suppose. I would just like her to have at least one decent nap in her crib during the day too. Guess I can't have it all!

Good news about the sippy cup Essie! We didn't have much success with bottles and gave up. We tried a doidy cup today and I wouldn't say she drank much but seemed to enjoy the experience at least. We'll try a basic sippy cup tomorrow and probably try the bottle again the next day and then keep practicing with whichever one seems most successful, I would like to crack it now! Dh's birthday is in just under 2 months so it'd be nice to think we could go for a grown up meal out and leave Melba with her grandparents for a few hours.

Jc hope the BCG went ok. How come G has to have that one?

Toast85 · 01/02/2016 17:54

Sorry, xpost purple!

Jcandy · 01/02/2016 18:52

Bcg was fine Smile she cried but settled quickly. Her dad is Chinese so it falls under the risk factors for TB as apparently it can lie dormant in the system for ages

ZylaB · 01/02/2016 20:20

H is poorly again! Temps of over 39 degrees and she's hard to get calpol into! Took her to the docs who said her cough wasn't a chest infection but that she'd probably got a cold on top of her cough...sigh. I hate feeling useless not being able to pick her up :(

purplewhale · 01/02/2016 20:29

Sweet potato went well too. Apple tomorrow Smile

Toast have you tried a dummy? I know they aren't the best thing in the world but it sounds like she's using your nipple as one. We only use one for soothing when he's tired. He needs it to go to sleep then spits it out when he falls asleep.

DulcetMoans · 01/02/2016 23:14

Sounds pretty grim essie, thanks for the link though. Will take a look, although mine were sawed through so probably not the same! I hadn't considered their being boob juice in your freezer - please say there wasn't?! I'd be so angry!

Sleep in general is shit here toast, so might not be the best comparison but we only get half hour naps at a time still. Sometimes pushed to an hour but rate lately. At some point I guess they are meant to move to more standard naps! Night one sounding good to make up for it though.

When do you get the results jc? I'm glad it went well for you.

I'm sure you feel a bit useless zyla but you're totally not ! it's all temporary and you can still give her all the cuddles she needs, just gently. Have you got lots of people there to help?

I have booked a cranial oesteopath for Weds. One last attempt to fix the sleep in some way. Getting so desperate! Not really expecting much but need to try something. Not telling DH though!

Hobbit19 · 02/02/2016 02:28

Catch up needed!!

Essie, 4cm stomach gap?! Eesh! Personally, I would work on repairing it before future pregnancies in order to minimise further damage. (But that's just me!) Thanks for the video link too, very interesting! I am doing my exercises at the mo while DH does bath time. I reckon I could do most of the exercises with P in a sling though if I got desperate.

Re the freezer, is it raw food of cooked? If raw you can cook it and refreeze it. If it is a pre cooked meal stash then you have my sympathies, I would cry!! (We have a patio you can borrow). Grin

Nappy change....

Hobbit19 · 02/02/2016 02:43

Zyla Flowers for you. Be kind to yourself you are dealing with a lot at the moment!

Purple, well done on the food and the own rooming! Star Star Star A good week.at chez purple!

JC glad the jab was okay, not looking forward to our first set at 8 weeks
Sad

Toast, no sleep advice here, P is very random.with naps and bed time. I am also tracking her feeds/sleep to see if there is a pattern developing.

La, hope boob scan was okay I've heard they can be quite uncomfortable. Wine

Hobbit19 · 02/02/2016 02:58

Good luck with the CO Dulcet.

All okay here, I finally had success with the sling (I had advice from the lesser spotted Lemon!) And P slept in it for 2 hours!! I made a cake!! Grin My lower back was a bit sore after 2 hours though, I think partly because I was tensing a bit to hold P up as I am not trusting the sling, and partly because my core is fooked!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 02/02/2016 03:37

pud I was chatting to my mum about core this week, shes had problems with organ prolapse poor thing and does loads of pilates to help. I was saying it's only in the last week or two that I've really felt like my strength is properly coming back and I can carry ds in the sling for any length of time without really noticing. He's 22 weeks. I definitely thought about 12 weeks in I was feeling fairly recovered but looking back I wasn't! I want to be sure I'm doing the right exercises for my stomach gap too.

The freezer stash was a combo of pre cooked and raw. I salvaged what I could. Sadly the ice cream was a goner. Sad fortunately there wasn't any boob juice. DS is too crap with the bottle for me to have bothered expressing any great quantity.

dulcet let us know how osteopath goes. It definitely helped a bit with ds evening colic. I hadn't thought of trying it to fix our broken sleep.

LaLaLaaaa · 02/02/2016 05:17

Will catch up soon but esseie have a look at the hypopressive method. I did a mummy rebuild course when B was 10 weeks. They recommend all mums do them regardless of birth. It lifts everything back up and restored your core. Takes a bit of practice but it really works.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 02/02/2016 08:12

Thanks la Smile I'll take a look today.

ZylaB · 02/02/2016 09:52

I've got either my mum of DH's parents here, so never alone! I know I can't lift her, a box of porridge oats hurt yesterday! But still. Hospital tomorrow so I'll get a look at it properly :)

jellypi3 · 02/02/2016 11:13

Hi everyone hope there's room for one more :)

Night 1 at home was ok, R fed well but didn't really sleep, she didn't settle in her Next to Me so I was awake with her in my arms. Going to look into to other co-sleeping options so any suggestions appreciated!

I'll have a proper read of this Fred soon, never thought I would be here!

Jcandy · 02/02/2016 11:25

Hi jelly! I had to pretty much hold G constantly for the first week! Me and dp took it in turns overnight. Then she would only settle in her carrycot so I put that in the bednest next to my bed. She's been in the bednest since about 4 weeks old now. It was just too big for her to start with and I think she felt lost with all the space

Hobbit19 · 02/02/2016 12:02

JELLY!! You're a grad grad, so fab to see you here! R is still used to being all snuggly and warm tucked up inside you and is not used to being alone so don't worry if she wants to be held lots, she will get more used to being on her own. Having said that you do need some sleep though! In the early days we found swaddling helpful (until about 2 weeks then she was all 'piss off with your swaddle, I want to just hit self in the face repeatedly'). And also the sleepyhead was a godsend. You can make an equivalent out of towels I believe? There must be a video somewhere that shows how to do it safely so that baby feels 'held' whilst asleep. Enjoy the snuggles!

teejayem · 02/02/2016 12:09

Couldn't be without you for too long :) and thank god the app is better than it used to be!

Hobbit19 · 02/02/2016 12:37

TEE!! Yey we can still take about arse-fanjos. Grin The Fred is filling up nicely, just need Pretz now!

teejayem · 02/02/2016 12:43

Oh I'm here. For all your arse cactus needs.

Just to be clear, nobody upset me directly, so I'm not sobbing into my gin or anything. I just don't tolerate certain behaviours. :)

How is the cactus anyway pud?

Fleurchamp · 02/02/2016 12:56

tee! You have brought me back here.

I can't do both here and FB.

I don't know what it was all about but understand your decision.

Welcome to all new grads.

Dare I say it, I am BROODY Shock those baby pics... The smell... Ahh good times totally forgetting the hell that was the first 3 months

I was never broody before but I totally want all the babies now Grin

Toast85 · 02/02/2016 13:29

Hello jelly, tee, fleur! (Autocorrect still changing fleur to flour then, good job I noticed.)

Went to see a nursery today. Didn't like it. But not entirely sure I am ever going to like a nursery because they will have my pfb and I will be at work. Humph. Maybe by the summer I'll feel more ready for that!

Fleur I found myself wondering what the age gap would be if we got pregnant in the next few months... I am already missing the teeny tiny new baby days! But no, no, not yet. I just keep telling myself that it would be veeeeery different having a new baby with a 1 yr old around!
