Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

My shitty blocked duct is back for a third time, it seems to clear for a day or so and then it reappears! So not happy to discover that this morningConfused

Jcandy · 29/01/2016 11:14

Hi everyone I've been feeling decidedly sorry for myself for the past few days. Think the whole mastitis, thrush, poorly guinea pig, G's very sore bum has just got on top of me and I've felt like I'm not coping and doing everything wrong. DP is off today and the weekend so I feel a bit better knowing that he can help too. But do need to try and get on top of these feelings as I'm starting to spiral again.

My guinea pig is still in the hospital but after the phone call yesterday where the vet said we might have to look at stopping it was nice to get a phone call this morning to say they've seen a small improvement in him. Going this afternoon to see him.

toast that is so crap about your duct. Is there a reason for reoccurring blocked ducts or is it just one of those really shitty annoying things? Hope you manage to get more sleep soon too.

He'll get used to it purple it must be very strange to have just had milk all your life and suddenly be given something thicker that tastes different.

Interesting combination of foods there dulcet Smile I can imagine they go quite concrete like after a while

popz hope the house of lurg is feeling better this morning. I'm rubbish when I'm ill so not looking forward to the first cold I get whilst still having to look after G, though I guess I managed with the mastitis. We mums are great aren't we!

Hobbit19 · 29/01/2016 11:39

Yes JC, we Mums are fricken amazeballs. P and I are planning to spend all day on the sofa in blankets watching The Good Wife, that's fine, right?!

Sorry to hear about the blocked duck Toast, that's a shitter. Maybe continue with blocked duct care even when it looks as though it has gone?

JC you poor old bean. :-( Not surprised it is all getting on top of you! Be kind to yourself, you are doing great in very crappy circumstances. Hope your DH looks after you lots this weekend.

Oh, and the cat is asleep in the moses basket.

Again.

Toast85 · 29/01/2016 11:41

I managed to get a cancellation at the GP today and she said just keep using heat, massage, feeding and it's one of those things. But go back if it feels lumpy when not so engorged, or if it turns into mastitis. So just have to live with it for now!

Jc So sorry you've had/are having such a tough time. Glad your dp is off for a few days, hope you get a nice cuddle with your piggy.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 29/01/2016 14:03

Hi viroids. Sorry for radio silence. Had some seriously shite nights this week. Last night he was up at least every hour tearing at his ear and crying so I took him to gp today who said ear looks fine and thinks it's teething. The copious green frothy nappies seem to have gone back to normal now though. He seems fine through the day, it all goes to shit at night! I'm utterly knackered but have a quiet weekend ahead thank goodness. What's everyone else up to?

jc so sorry to hear your guinea is still unwell. Poor thing. Hope you see some improvement when you visit. Sounds like you've got a lot to deal with at the mo. You are doing brilliantly. It's hard enough even when it's all going fairly to plan.

toast that's crappy about your blocked duct. No advice I'm afraid only huge amounts of sympathy!

pud what is it about the moses basket? My cat left everything else alone but was obsessed with that even when I turned it upside down he slept on it!

I'm having a crisis about swimming. I'd signed ds up for swimming lessons and DH goes in with him. DS doesn't love it but doesn't hate it but I'm not wild about the dunking under part. It seems a bit brutal and he always cries and doesn't enjoy the rest of the session as much as the pre dunk bit. Last week we decided not to do that bit and the teacher made a bit of a scene about it and made us feel as though we were being pathetic. It just seems counter productive to do something which upsets him when we're just trying to give him a nice positive water experience? He's only 22 weeks old. We're meant to be going tomorrow and now I know his ear is ok we could still go but I'm not keen.

Hobbit19 · 29/01/2016 14:35

Hi Essie, sorry to hear about your lack of sleep! I would go swimming but stick to your guns about not dunking. You know your baby and you will know when they are comfortable or not, trust your instincts! The instructor sounds like a tool should respect that. Maybe speak to them about it before hand so you can then relax and enjoy the class.

RPopz · 29/01/2016 14:48

Chin up jc - this shit is hard even without poorly boobs and poorly pigs! Hope you get a bit of time to chill with MrJC being off for a couple of days.

I've heard a couple of people say their baby wasn't keen on the dunking bit essie - just do what you're comfortable with. He might be more amenable to it once he's had a few more lessons and feels a bit more at ease. Ignore the cuntspangle instructor. How did you get on at the sling library?

Mr P is a work in progress Dulcet!! Grin Better than he was. Though still far too attached to his phone.

I think our house buyer is about to pull out and we're going to lose our dream house. Fucksticks Sad

RPopz · 29/01/2016 14:49

Our cat is OBSESSED with getting in the bloody cot/ pushchair.... Git.

Hobbit19 · 29/01/2016 16:28

Noooooooo to losing the house Rpopz! (Excellent swear words though).

Glad my cat isn't the only delinquent.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 29/01/2016 18:05

Haha popz I remember my cousin wowing me with swear words I hadn't heard before when I was about 10, today is the first time it's happened since. Grin

We're not going swimming now cos since I posted earlier DS has become awash with snot and I've had to break out the calpol again. Arse.

pud I've emailed the instructor to tell her we can't make it tomorrow and I mentioned the dunking as well and said we were going to leave that bit out for now until DS seems a bit more able to cope with it as I feel its a bit brutal at the moment. Hopefully she will accept that.

Didn't make it to the sling library either cos of snot and general crapness today. I have tried a friends tula though which was really fab and I think much easier for a back carry especially, but they are so frigging expensive.

My DH is too friendly with his phone as well. Really pees me off. He doesn't take criticism well either so not sure how to handle it. He just bathed DS and is now reading him a story and there's no histrionics though so I will save the phone convo for another year day and just enjoy a few mins peace.

Fingers crossed for your house buyer too.

RPopz · 29/01/2016 18:14

Haha, if there's one thing I can do, it's swearing Grin

Hope littleessie feels better soon.

Minipopz hasn't vommed since this morning and has just demolished a banana... Hopefully that means he's over the worst!

Devastated about the house. Cross your fingers for me viroids. Hopefully I'm being overdramatic but things don't seem good right now.... Will also put the kibosh on ttc since we can barely breathe in this house as it is.

DulcetMoans · 29/01/2016 18:35

Oh no popz! When will you know if they have pulled out or not?

Rubbish news about the cold essie but at least it helped you decide about the swimming. The teacher should really take your views in account.

You're having a shit time jc and it does all get too much at the best of times. Make the most of DP being home and get some rest. (J didn't eat all that in one meal. I just don't clean anymore! Haha.)

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 29/01/2016 20:15

I've got a potty mouth too popz but I'm not as imaginative as you! Grin

Keeping everything crossed re the house. When will you get news? Do you have to wait til Monday to hear anything?

The swimming teacher has emailed back and seems quite understanding.

RPopz · 29/01/2016 21:46

Not really sure tbh. Apparently he wants to have the weekend to "think things over" .... I mean WTAF he needs to think over at this late stage I do not know. Just sounds like excuses to me. He's been a bit flakey from the start Sad I just wish he could have said outright instead of keeping us hanging on over the weekend!! Angry

LaLaLaaaa · 30/01/2016 01:30

Popz fucking wankbadgers!!!! Tell them in zyla red witch fashion that no they cannot bloody pull out! Arsebandits.

Essie another one in cold misery here! DS pulls ear when teething and when tired also. He's exhausted just now because he's had a cold for a week now and has been left with a hacking dry cough that wakes him up every hour. We are all zombies in the La house from tiredness. DM still here helping, she's a legend.

Dunking - B doesn't mind it too much but I think it's utterly unfair to do it when they have a cold or don't feel 100%. It's not her frigging baby, stick to your guns gal. It's not essential so what does it matter if they don't do it?

You can get 2nd hand Tula on the affordable slings Facebook page for £60 ish.

JC have you caught the La bad luck bug? You need a bit of luck lovely I think you're due some soon! Break it down into manageable chunks. Guiney pig is hopefully improving, you now have medicine hopefully to help with the thrush. What's with the sore bum? I missed that post. Have you tried metanium? Hugs to you.

Dulcet get you with your posh baby nosh! B is getting better at taking food and I've stopped worrying if he doesn't take it perfectly. He's now done all the first tastes and I'm starting him on combinations of things. He's not keen on finger foods which I think a lot is to do with him feeling crappy and coldy so he's always a bit tired and crabby when we try. He loves porridge which I make with EBM. I'm trying not to give him much of solids though and remember milk is meant to be his main source of nutrition for a while yet.

Purple give him a chance - it's a whole new sensation and taste for him. He will get there! Remember it's not vital they eat solids just yet, it's just about exploring food.

We tried him with an Ella's kitchen pouch today. Wow! He likes those! Trying not to feel insulted that my cooking is obviously substandard in comparison Grin

I went to first Sing and Sign class yesterday. It was good. It was a taster so we've signed up for summer term. My friend goes abc her baby is same age. She started weaning 2 weeks before us and yesterday we were in the class and she's giving her baby those baby biscuits that melt in the mouth. I was a bit Confused

Do they need snacks this young!?! I'd have thought no way as milk is main nutrition and solids are just being introduced? I obviously didn't say anything but it made me a bit sad. She's from the same crowd I've told you guys about before who like to tell me I should be giving B formula and solids to make him sleep through.

Spoke to Mr La. He took it really well and said he's been a dick and that we will make 2016 the year that's all about our family. We will see if it happens but at least he's trying.

Right best put this baby back down. I've been holding him until he is fast asleep as otherwise he just wakes up coughing. Poor sausage.

Still struggling with left boob (one with lump) being rejected. Hell feed off it when sleepy but not at all during day. I'm wondering if latch is the issue as he doesn't seem to latch onto left very well. Have left message to ask LC Jillto come and see us. She's away this weekend though. Good old Jill!

Oh and we get no sleep in this house. Ever. I've come to terms with that this is just my life now.

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 30/01/2016 02:06

Half an hour. That's how long my baby sleeps for just now. He's back up. It's soul destroying

Brew and Cake La, hope B feels better soon poor bean. Glad DH admitted he was on the wrong though.

ZylaB · 30/01/2016 09:15

la H is a year old in just over a week and I was up 8 times with her last night... We don't sleep in this house either, good job they're worth it eh?!

RPopz · 30/01/2016 09:23

BrewBrewBrew to you La and Zyla!

I'm going to sound like a total asshole now but minipopz slept 8-8 in his own bed in his own room!!! Boobed at 11 and 3. Vast improvement on 2 hourly wakings.... He is generally Not A Good Sleeper though so I can sympathise with you sleepless viroids!!

Good on MrLa for taking it on the chin. Hopefully he'll stick to his word.

Retail therapy for me today!!

LaLaLaaaa · 30/01/2016 09:36

Not an asshole Popz I think you deserve that one after all the shite!

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 30/01/2016 09:38

Left boob has no milk today :( I think it's done. I know I wanted to give up slowly but I still feel like crying.

OP posts:
Hobbit19 · 30/01/2016 11:14

RPopz that's awesome! Take the wins while you can!

Commiserations on left boob La, I worry that I underfeed from right boob due to pain and it is going to end up knackered. You can still keep feeding from your right boob though? As he is weaning now that might be okay? Eep, you might end up with wonky boobs for a bit though?! .

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 30/01/2016 12:16

Hang in there with the one sided boobness viroids. I had a broken right boob back in October and didn't feed off it for a good couple of weeks, thought it was over and then it recovered and gradually started working again. I think it needed a rest to heal. I had nerve damage in it and it was agony to feed off and got horribly engorged but nothing came out for ages, I ended up with mastitis, then it eventually settled down, I still get weird sensations around my rib cage, they said the nerve damage would take months to heal, but it doesn't hurt now and actually seems to be DS 'favourite' side if that's a thing?

Been to a second hand baby clothes sale this morning. Got a v cute frugi tractor fleece for £2.50 so quite chuffed, they also had amazing cake.

Also the dishwasher man came and mended the dishwasher. I am elated!

Last night was a bit bollocks on the sleep front but DS seems happier this morning. We've ditched swimming today cos of his cold though.

Popz sorry about the nobber house buyer. Hope he gets his shit together and stops messing you about. Grin at wankbadger. Amazing word. Not sure I could say it in conversation without laughing at myself though. My Gran always says swearing in conversation isn't as bad as writing it down.

DulcetMoans · 30/01/2016 12:51

That's great popz! Take it, none of us would begrudge you a sleep. He's really taken to being in his room now then. Do you think the guy could just be playing a game to see if he can get a lower price? By making it look like he will pull out.

A year old zyla, wow! Are you going to do anything to celebrate?

Glad you enjoyed sing and sign la, and good news that MrLa seems to have seen a bit of sense but still a rough week with the boob. It doesn't have to mean an end if you aren't ready, but it is still emotional if you did want to give up. That's perfectly normal to feel that way. Get through the weekend and see what Jill says.

Love a second hand sale essie, most his wardrobe is pre loved but means you can buy more. Haha.

I did text DH one day last week to say I was worried I was making the baby middle class la - when he had cous cous, mango and something else posh (can't even remember!). I bought an avocado for him this week, I've never eaten a bloody avocado! I have to say I did buy some of those baby snack things on offer this week too but for meals, not as snacks. So he has some different texture. There's little banana rice cakes and sweetcorn ring things. Is stuff I can't really make and thought it could add a new sensation for him but maybe it is too soon... Confused
