Sorry short message earlier oops! Clstow hope you get home ok! Frolic well done on the baking - I still need to do my mince pies and gingerbread house eek. Ooh poas!! Could you imagine!

Mzzf yay for sleep!

Dozy how odd to get different sizes! And yay about your cat siani! Someone let fireworks off earlier and our cat was very unhappy.

DS is.moving his bedtime forward again
Seems to be 6pm now! The problem is the early waking!

I got the last of my presents today and all wrapped up now. Tried to do DS's passport for but I've put the date wrong so I have to go and get it certified again and they want info about my grandparents?!

Just need to buy all the nice food now and then just hunker down is the plan!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 21/12/2015 22:27

joskar I hear you on the gift front. I have received not one but two snowsuits for grumpy 2 in enormous sizes that aren't going to fit until next summer! I get that people think they are being helpful by buying bigger, but when the babies are this small and growing so fast it doesn't really work as a concept Hmm. My Aunt lives near you, she probably had all the Quality Street. I apologise on her behalf.

clstow sorry to hear that you are on a breakdown truck, it happens to us a lot (grumpy 1 went through a phase of thinking that all holidays ended with a lift home on a truck). I get through the irritation by thinking of the money we are saving on fuel. Silver linings and all that.

frolic a pregnancy test Shock just the thought is terrifying! Good work on the fudge though, I love the stuff but have always assumed it would be complicated to make, was it?

fanby I think you are being very brave and sensible to try and help Molls learn to sleep. It's part of your job as her Mum to teach her important life skills like this, and bollox to anyone who questions your judgement. My Mum knitted the cardigan - we have a good stash of home-brew knitwear here at the dwarf house.

Dozy well done on the quick thinking response to potential present embarrassment!

nolonger thanks for the tip about Red House Farm, we have not been but shall go as it sounds great.

On the poo front grumpy 2 used to go every other day. Then she went through a phase of storing it for about a week and then having a day of mega poo. Now she is back to about one every other day or so. I think she has a bit of a funny tummy today though as we have been a bit sick after each feed (which she had stopped doing) and some slightly greeny poo. She seems well in herself though so I am not concerned.

On the Christmas front I took the dwarfs to Waitress to buy the Christmas cheeseboard. It was a middle-class armageddon in there. Absolute hell on earth. The queue for the free tea and coffee stretched halfway around the store and I actually got elbowed out of the way by a middle aged gentleman whilst reaching for a camembert. We were lucky to make it out in one piece!

I'll be propping up the bar later, hopefully by myself Smile

Mugabe evening ladies!

Been off the grid as DH decided to drop my phone yesterday afternoon and broke the screen so it wasn't even functioning!! Only got it back late afternoon but it's fixed thank god! Was getting withdrawal symptoms!

Briefly on what I can remember....

Frolic have you poas??? That would be scary! I had to do one when I had my coil fitted as I hadn't had a period then and I was so nervous even though I knew it would be negative!

All the star snug pictures are adorable! I've been meaning to get one for DS I think I'll go for the green as its my fave colour! Loving the pushchair pics too we converted ours yesterday and although I've not took him out in it yet i sat him in it and he was beaming! Looks so comfy with his footmuff on too!

Xmas starters here are usually soup, garlic mushrooms on toast or prawn cocktail. Mushrooms are my fave!!

Thank you for the mulled wine tips!

Poos here have done the opposite- DS is usually 1 a day but yesterday did 3 and 2 today!! He has been guzzling milk down like a loon though so that's probably why. I do worry when he doesn't pop for a day though because he arms I comfy with it too.

6 bottles here- that's 6 to drink from we also have probably about 8/10 bottles that we use for cooled boiled water- I make them up as I go so half hot water from flask then powder then half cooled water so it's ready to drink straight away. Works as we had to switch bottles so all the old bottles we had hardly used still get used this way to transport cooled water! We do a wash and sterilise of all bottles before bed and then they are ready to go the next day and we don't need to wash again until the next evening. Although have had to do some ad hoc washing lately as DS has been having an extra bottle or two the greedy pig!

He was really suffering with his teeth tonight bless him proper pained screams despite bojnjela and calpol for about an hour and then it stopped and he was smiling as quickly as it had started! So weird! Hoping for only feed wake ups again tonight as its the first night he's in his room and I'm in mine so don't want to be back and forth too much. I am quite nervous about it too, I didn't want him alone in his room just yet but my back is killing after the last 3 weeks on a thin mattress on the floor and we did our big clean today so put the mattress back in the spare room with fresh bedding ready for my dad coming on Wednesday. I'm really going to miss falling asleep listening to DS breathing tonight Sad it's become abit like white noise for me!!

Can't remember much else except yay for the cat coming home and giggling at the pj return story! DH's aunt bought DS a cute top from boots with matching hat saying 'Santa's little helper' on it but in size 6-9 month so far too big for him! I was a bit confused as he's 5 months so how the hell would it fit him now and obviously he can't wear that in feb/ march time! Tried to exchange for the right size the other day but nothing at all in boots in 3-6 month! Going to try another branch tomorrow hopefully as its well cute!

Here's to a good night with tumble weed rolling through Mugabe!

Dozygirl · 21/12/2015 23:40

Wow lily that is some post there heeheehee.

Magrat it's baby's grandparents that they need the information for on the passport eg your parents and your partners parents. It's very strange information they need too like when they got married.

Fanby love the fact you found a rafiki meme haha. Really really hope you're having some beautiful long and refreshing sleep zzzzzzzz. I'll get a pic of the pj's tomorrow and see if u can guess. It was the way she was looking at them in confusion and wondering why they were in the boot haha. I was like oh crap oh crap oh crap! I'm terrible at lying. Matt can tell when I'm telling porkies even over the phone.

People really don't think when buying clothes do they when it comes to seasons. Lucky dresses can be paired with tights and long sleeve vests but no idea why u do for boys outfits. But a lot look summery. I took a lot back but too late so things were in the sale and not worth much. 2 quid to spend on something I need is better than not using the thing that was bought. Next time I'll be quicker to take things back haha.

Frolic fudge is my fav . Send some my way pretty please. I was thinking of getting a slow cooker and joined a Facebook group but everyone keeps sharing fudge made in their slow cookers so I don't think it would be a good idea for me haha. The after 8 and chocolate orange versions looked particularly tasty.

Ooh lily good luck with the own room . I'm sort of looking forward to having dd in her own room. Means I can go watch TV in bed while dp is watching things I don't want to watch haha.

Clstow hope u make it home safe and sound. How annoying for u! And with a baby in tow.

Middle class armargeddon haha. I can just imagine it. Supermarket shopping at Xmas is a nightmare. I'm dreading going in to return those pyjamas lol. Was meant to go today but never made it. Have a friend coming tomorrow and I haven't got her a present yet so need to panic buy something in the morning. I thought having a baby would mean I'd be up and ready early in the mornings but I still manage to get away with lounging around in bed till mid morning. I'm sure that will all change as she gets older though and more active. Managed to watch a movie and everything this morning.

Lol at the pregnancy test frolic. Have u actually managing to dtd therefore requiring a test? Well done to you if u have!

Joskar no quality streets? We opened a box on Sunday and I've practically eaten the whole box 🙊🐷🐷🐷 I'm such a little piggy wiggy. I burned off a fair few calories today though at a children's soft play area bring dragged around by my friends nearly 2 year old. We've got all that to come with our little ones.

Fanby · 22/12/2015 00:27

AHHHHHHHH I'm so sick of this not sleeping malarkey!!! I thought the calpol we gave her just after 7 was going to sort all my problems :( AGHHHHHHHHHHH!

She's woken at 10 and then 11:20 and ive been trying to settle her and now I've just given boob. Shall I just go back to boobing her to sleep. I wish someone would give me the magic answer I'm so tired :(. We have 10 days left on this leap. Thinking that when it finishes it'll be better has been the only thing getting me through and now I'm even losing the faith at that :( x

mzzzf · 22/12/2015 01:40

Oh Fanby I completely hear what you're saying. No sleep is shitter than shit and the ONLY advice I got that worked was to do whatever it takes to get you through. So if that means boob then boob! You can restart teaching her about sleep when she's more herself, she's just in a mental shit storm of development right now. It will calm down! I can totally see why you don't want to give her boob all the time and if you grizz this out by not doing that then you're blooming awesome but I think this regression/teething/big leap perfect storm thing means you're 'allowed' to chuck out the rule book for a bit. It's hard on you anyway and you don't necessarily need to make it harder. With mini mzzzf she didn't want food to sleep she wanted rocking, something I was trying to wean her off but fuck that shit during the leap of that meant sleep I did it. Now she's free and clear of it, I'm back to titrating down the rocking action and it's going ok. Molls will be fine with/out boob but why not help yourself for a bit?

Clstow - hope you're home ok!
Frolic - have you poas yet? Literally a nightmare scenario for me at the moment. Fuuuuuuck! 😔

Dozy & Joskar - love this present buying folks but my god isn't it a relief when they've left the tags on for an easy return!! 😀😄

Lily - you're super brave for going solo. I dread it yet can't wait in equal measure. I like the reassurance of having her close but will not miss waking her unnecessarily and having to settle her because our bed creaks something rotten if you dare to move once laid down! Hope you've not had too many cross landing trips!

DH is snoring next to me. I still am agog when he asks each morning "how did the night go?" Argh you're in the same effing room with me you cloth eared git!! 😁

Going to brave the main food shop tomorrow morning! I need sleep so I can use my elbows to bedt effect and I shall actually lay on the floor and sob should the chocs be sold out!!!!

Hope good sleep is being had all round x

Tindel · 22/12/2015 04:18

So many posts! Can't remember who said what, but DH has to ask me how often J wakes at night as he sleeps through night feeds Hmm Am seeing the batty side of my family later today and they didn't want to post presents for J when he was born, so am expecting to have a load of tat and too-small clothes, so will have to try and return it all after Xmas. Have got quite ruthless about it all, J didn't need 5 winter coats and he has more comforters than we know what to do with!

Sleep wise, we're not doing too badly, considering we're away from home, no DH and J appears to be mid-leap and sleep regression! He wouldn't sleep this afternoon for more than 20 minutes, so was in a foul mood. My current trick of feeding him to sleep took a bit longer than expected, fortunately my parents have been very understanding. Although my dad kept saying J couldn't possibly be hungry again and kept trying to take him. Although J loves his grandpa, he was just cross at being tired and boob seems to be the way to go.

Right, think he's asleep after first feed, hopefully he will sleep now until a sensible time ...

Fanby · 22/12/2015 04:40

Thanks mzzzf, think I might kick DH back into the spare room and go back to co sleeping so she can have food on tap until the end of this leap or something so I don't have to keep getting up and down. She did go down again after last feed (and I had a cry and a rant) and when she next woke he did settle her but as my eyeballs are bleeding I didn't see the time. 4:30 and we're up again anyway for food. Think we might skip yoga tomorrow as ive done my exercise now Smile

Thanks Mumsnet for posting that 4 times Hmm

Dozygirl · 22/12/2015 06:40

Lol fanby , like a parrot then. Sorry that your night didn't go any better. It's all just so tough. Sending u hugs as that's all I know how to do to help.

My dp doesn't sleep through the night feeds but he does go back to sleep while I'm feeding her. I'd prefer it if he slept through though so that I could have a good excuse to tell him to get up with baby in the morning while I go back to bed for a bit but because he's awake too he's tired too. Hopefully at some point over this Xmas period I'll get a lie in. I miss that the most I think since having a baby.

Frolicacid · 22/12/2015 06:48

Morning all!
Didn't post last night as I went to bed at 8pm feeling fed up and sorry for myself. My womb was very sore after the dr's prodding. It just feels like one thing after another at the moment. I hate that I'm wishing the time away, instead of enjoying Ds I've been waiting for the dog to get better, the cold to pass, the sleep to come etc, etc, etc.
Anyway, we both slept from 8pm until 6am apart from a quick feed at 12 and 3, so hopefully today will be better.
I haven't poas yet as I though I'd got a test but don't. I'm very tempted to dig out the positive test from Ds (I know it's gross but I've still got it) and give Dh a proper fright. I'm not that mean though. Gp said 99% sure I'm not due to bf and condoms, but worth checking just in case. Can you imagine! I'm pretty sure it would mean 2 under 1 😮

Loads of posts overnight! Sorry so many of you were at the bar. Father Christmas definitely needs to bring us all some sleep and good health.

I hope you got home safe clstow. Nightmare at this time of year with a baby.

The fudge was an 'easy' recipie slow. That's why I tried it. It's not set though ☹️ - that was the final straw that sent me to bed sulking at 8pm. Dh is very happy not to take it to work and eat it all with a spoon, so at lest it won't go to waste!
I've often complained about not having a waitrose locally, but maybe that's not a bad thing after hearing your description.

I hope you managed some sleep in your own bed lily.

fanby, I second what mzzf said about doing whatever it takes to get through, co-sleeping, boob etc. It won't be forever and you need to sleep. Poor Molly, I hope she feels better soon.

Fanby · 22/12/2015 07:03

Me again. Just double/triple checked the wonder weeks app. We're at week 18, does anyone else remember this as a horrific week?

Frolic - sorry about your tummy and the prodding. Hope you feel better soon. I'd totally eat the non stick fudge with a spoon!! Mmmmm

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 22/12/2015 07:46

Morning all,

We've finally had some sleep. Woo hoo! Just one short feed at 2am and that was it. Thank god. And she's fast asleep again now, but I can't go back to bed because grumpy 1 is up and being suspiciously quiet in her bedroom Hmm...

Hang in there fanby, if we can do it so can you and in the meantime do whatever it takes to get through (I must confess to shamelessly feeding to sleep still on grounds of my own mental health) x

mzzzf · 22/12/2015 09:01

Maybe I'm biased on the 'do what it wakes thing' as I'm still struggling to get decent consistent sleeps at night. Yes week 18 was a shocker for us but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be for you. Hopefully she'll be back on track tonight.

I got my usual 2hr gaps between wake ups so I can't massively complain as this is her 'normal' but my goodness I'd love her to go a bit longer between wake ups. I guess it could be worse though and be shorter gaps so hey ho and pass me the coffee! 😁

Going to brave the BIG shop this morning!

Fanby · 22/12/2015 09:45

Thanks for all the love ladies, got me through the night! Tonight DH is in the spare room and I'm gonna feed the beast next to me!

We were supposed to be going to yoga today and then off to the southbank and borough market...instead we're going to IKEA.

Good luck with the shop Mzzf! xx

FattySantaRobin · 22/12/2015 09:46

3 wake ups last night. Luckily only quick ones.
Fudge: I use as sauce on cake if it doesn't set Wink
Poas: my worst nightmare, I can't go through with another pregnancy but I would feel guilty if I had to have an abortion.

kbro79 · 22/12/2015 10:02

Fanby we are on week 18 and having a right old time. Have stopped counting night wakings there is so many. I am soooooo tired. I am in the mzzzf do whatever it takes camp. We are co sleeping and feeding to sleep all the time. My theory is that once this 'leap' is over we can try and get his sleep back on track but for now I can't face resettling every single hour!! Do whatever you think will get you through it.

Laughing a lot at grumpy 1 being up and sneaking around.

Dozy yes am the same. Thought we'd be up and at em each day but instead DS and I lol around in bed like a pair of teenagers.

Must go. My boob monster is calling

Dozygirl · 22/12/2015 10:29

Sorry fanby no help for you. Dd hasn't really followed that wonder weeks thing. I have never noticed a stormy period or a happy period, she's kind of been consistent. It's more that on the odd occasion she'll stress out with feeding but apart from that she's fine. And it's not all day, it's just a part of the day and then she'll be fine again. So from my view I don't really rate the wonder weeks thing but I know it's different type different babies and some have a rougher time than others.

loveandsmiles · 22/12/2015 10:33

I have read but can't remember everything!!

fanby & kbro. I am feeding to sleep with boob constantly in DDs mouth - we co-sleep. I know I need to stop doing it constantly in the night as she can't possibly need fed that much and is using it as a comforter but when I don't give boob to her she just cries - tiredness wins and I give in - it does get better!

Can't remember who recommended the book - The Book of You - downloaded it last week and finished last night whilst feeding - really enjoyed it - thanks!!

Love all the cute baby pics Xmas Smile

I have made chocolate orange fudge this morning - will have to hide from DC - it's all for me Xmas Grin

DCs are totally hyper - the excitement is building by the hour. DS has eaten too many Xmas sweeties and is feeling sick and DD4 has got hold of glitter and it is everywhere - baby even had glittery poo earlier?!?[santa]

MaGratgarlik1983 · 22/12/2015 10:35

Haha would love a lie in but DS is having none if it! Once he's up he's up! Just watching this Carlos acosta thing, very good. I love ballet though! We are braving the big shop tomorrow eek.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 22/12/2015 10:36

X posts love - glittery poo? Sounds interesting!! Please chuck some fudge down to East anglia for me!

Clstow · 22/12/2015 14:13

Well we made it home... Truck dropped us and the car off at 11 last night and my mum is kindly lending us her car so we can still go away for Christmas. Will worry about fixing the car in the new year, such horrendous timing but our Christmas spirit will not be quashed!*

Love the idea of glittery poo! Would make the nappy changes much prettier.

Omg to poas frolic... Must admit I also have the positive test from when we found out about DS. Can't bring myself to throw it away but don't know what to do with it so have just left it under the bed Xmas Blush

Yes yes to just doing whatever it takes... I still feed DS to sleep during the night and don't worry about it. It'll all sort itself out eventually.

Love the quick thinking Dozy - v impressive.

Good luck with ikea Fanby. I'm on the bus to Westfield right now... I must be mad.

Have a fab afternoon all.
