Kbb not at all. Good sleeping babies give us hope! Welcome to the thread by the way. Think I forgot to say that on my last post.

Fanby was someone saying you need to feed on every waking? Rather funnily I had the opposite yesterday. Someone telling me off for lobbing a boob at DS too much in the night and that I need to settle him properly. And was not impressed we are co sleeping. You can't do right for doing wrong. Can people just trust that we all know what's best for our babies and ourselves?

Mzzzf love the buzzfeed peice. I look forward to seeing mini mzzzf cure cancer before her 21st. If Aidan's current sleep pattern continues he'll be in the lab next to her.

We are now up north for christmas. In laws 3 nights then my folks. Am trying to find my inner zen to stop me snapping at FIL. It's hard to find zen on 3 hours sleep.

Frolic your boy sounds back in the zone. Good stuff. After your war on sickness, shit and snot and pleased the war on sleep has resulted in a peace treaty.

Fanby hope you are ok. I tend to find I have a few low days every so often when everything just feels overwhelming. Did your DH manage to settle DD in the end? I need to let go of inner control freak and let DH settle DS more. It's not good for anyone if only I can do it (esp as I often bloody can't)

Clstow arrrgg about the mouse. Think that's the joy of city living. Every house in London i have lived in ends up with bloody mice.

Oh people that have a star snug can we have some solidarity? My friend was very rude about it saying DS looked like a hippy in it. Personally quite like the hippy baby look! Check him out!

How bloody dare they!? Star snugs are for winners 😀

She might be an arse to get to sleep but she rocks a star snug. Especially in the sling with DH.

Kbro - he looks gorge!

Sorry for the constant little posts but am bent over the cot holding hands. I'm not spamming honest!

Dozygirl · 20/12/2015 22:22

Heehe fanby no worries. It made me a little bit mad so tried to think of a diplomatic way of putting it. I'm very good at putting my foot in it and just saying what I think so I tried hard to come across ok. Not sure i achieved that but I tried. I personally think you're doing the right thing with molly and even if you weren't it's not harming her and you're not ignoring her needs. The answer isn't always that a baby needs feeding Unlike what some people seem to think.

Frolic whoohoo on the sleep! Hopefully he's cracked it

Took dd to a carol service. Haven't been to church in a few years. Used to be a regular attender. I really miss it tbh but dp isn't interested in it and the one I used to go to is all different and not many people my age. Dd loved it and was trying to sing a long.

Mzzf I most definitely think you're daughter is going to be the most intelligent child out of all of us 😉

Clstow agree try not to think about work but I can imagine that must be hard to ignore with it looming ever closer. I don't want to go back ever but I know I have to.

I love mulled wine. Dp bought me a bottle from lidl. Can't wait to crack it open. I could drink the whole bottle quite easily.

I've just scoffed a dominoes pizza :( I was going to be good today but it was dps suggestion and i was hungry. Oh well.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 20/12/2015 22:23

Evening all,

Don't worry about being chucked out of Mugabe Nights kbb, it's like Hotel California here, you can check out any time you like but you can never leave...

mzzf and fanby we have one of these www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Fabric-Bath-Support/651707,default,pd.html which is good as it is quite long so lasts a bit longer than some of the more moulded ones. Once grumpy 1 grew out of this then we just got in the bath with her and will do the same with grumpy 2.

everything we got a cleaner when I went back to work after my first mat leave. Definitely saved our marriage! DH wont subcontract anything out regarding DIY or vehicle maintenance so we do all of that ourselves. Buying in cleaning means that we have at least some time to spend together as a family (and one less thing to bitch constructively chat to each other about.)

On the mulled wine front we make this stuff www.kitchenparade.com/2009/12/gloggi-mulled-wine.php Finns shove cardamom in everything including our Christmas beverages.

nolonger all three kids (not including grumpy 2 who just sat with her 'whatevs' face on - see previous photo) hated Santa but the four grown ups thought he was fab. The walk around the deer park was lovely though and the kids loved stomping the mud. I haven't been to Quarry Bank yet, but it is on the list. We just renewed our NT membership today so will hopefully get there soon. love fortunately they liked their present (cuddly toy deer) though, can totally see why your brood were miffed!

giraffes there is 6.5 years between me and my sister and the same between DH and his. He gets on really well with his, I don't with mine. Nothing to do with the age gap, entirely down to our personalities. I am a great believer in the fact that just because you are related it doesn't mean you have to like each other. It's just luck of the draw. I hope my girls who have a 4.25 year gap enjoy each others company when they are older but equally I wont lose sleep over it if they don't.

I can't even bear it if grumpy 2 smells of my perfume so I haven't worn any since she was born. It makes me feel weird if she smells of anything other than 'baby'. lily you were very patient, I would definitely have had a word about the glitter! Although I did find quite a lot on grumpy 2 after grumpy 1 had been crafting the other day Shock!

frolic hooray for the good sleep! However, veggie sausages for Chrimbo dinner might be thoughtful of your DH but I agree not a patch on a pig in a blanket. DH has decided to make a sausage pie (which is what he ends up doing every year) out of that godawful granose stuff wrapped in pastry. Shudder.

fanby are you out of hiding yet??

kbro79 · 20/12/2015 22:28

Oh mzzzf that colour snug is gorgeous. Love it.

Ok it's a weird one but we always have to have cheeselets at christmas. My mum always buys them at Christmas and I really associate them with christmas.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 20/12/2015 22:30

Bollox to star snugs being for hippies!

Unless that makes us hippies.

Hmm, we drive a camper van, does that make us hippies??

Okay I am embracing my inner hippy and going with it... too tired to consider other options.

Regardless, baby kbro, minimzzf and of course grumpy 2 looking effing awesome in their snugs Grin so ignore your 'friend'.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 20/12/2015 22:31

kbro I see your cheeselets and raise you onion rings. Its not Christmas in the dwarf house without onion rings!

Dozygirl · 20/12/2015 22:35

Cross posts with loads of u then heehee.

Kbro i definitely agree u should do what u want to do. Noone knows your baby better than u do. And you definitely can't do right for doing wrong lol. I was saying that I've seen someone learn the hard way about overfeeding at night time but that was just her baby and it isn't the same for everyone.

My cat brings me lots of mice. I sat and watch him eat one the other night because I was feeding dd and couldn't move. So gross.

Star snug for the win! I got a medium which was too big so got a small pea green one second hand. Wasn't keen on the colour originally but dd pulls out off nicely and she looks a bit like a xma tree so fits in nicely with this time of year.

Oops wanted to crop that photo of me haha!!

Frolicacid · 20/12/2015 22:45

Peach is a great name for a cat everything! Out old boy used to be a prolific hunter. I don't miss standing on mice guts of a morning.
I hope Dd is good for granny tomorrow.

I love home alone fanby. Gutted we used it today. It's taken a while, but I'm definitely feeling more festive today.
I was thinking the other day that maybe I should join the Facebook group. Maybe i'll leave it then 😉

You are both looking at the same seat! I have also been looking at that one! Ds has a support thing, but is trying to sit up more now so it might be time for a change.

Christmas food chez frolic =
Mulled wine / cider
LOTS of smelly cheese with a vast amount of biscuits and chutneys.
Tangerines
Walnuts
Matchmakers
Frozen party food
Chocolate coins
Christmas cake
Mince pies & brandy butter
Gingerbread
Buck's Fizz
And a big, fat Christmas dinner obviously!

Sleeping babies are very welcome here kbb. We're all for sharing the highs and the lows 🙂

Go mt giraffes! Hopefully the dtd won't be as fast as the preparation!

Thanks kbro, I'm hoping for a long lasting peace treaty.
Ds looks amazing in his star snug. I am a big fan of hippy babies! Our Ds has a vast array of hand knitted colourful stuff that the crusties would be proud of.

Keep spamming with lovely pictures like that mzzf 😍

Oh dozy, I love a good carol service! Midnight mass after the pub was always the best as well.

Ewwww to granose sausage pie loves. Why oh why would anyone chose not to have pigs in blankets?
Glad you had a good day, even if Santa wasn't such a hit!

I love the star snug! Ds not so much judging by his expression. I wouldn't mind being considered a hippy mum but there are too many disposable nappies and primark babygrows in this house.

Right wrapping done. Phew. off to bed

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 21/12/2015 02:08

We're awake and feeding here! Only got to bed at 1 having had to finish the wrapping tonight as doing early Christmas with my folks tomorrow before heading to the in laws to bite my tongue for a week!

I feel very left out that I don't have a star snug buy agree all the babies look gorgeous in them.

We were also talking about getting one of the bath seats that are more like a Bumbo today as DS is wriggling so much he is nearly falling in the bath. How funny we all thought it at the same time.

Slow, we have NT membership too. There are so many amazing places in the NW but I think Dunham might just be my favourite. Have you been to Red House Farm just down the road from Dunham? Great for the kids and the Ploughman's is delicious.

Had a great afternoon with our friends having mulled wine and mince pies. Then spent the evening writing our cards to the kids and each other as well as finishing the wrapping. Feel really Christmassy now.

Right, stealth transfer ahoy. No 45 min waking this time please ds.

Tindel · 21/12/2015 05:59

Woop, woop, first wakeup for feed of the night! Am hoping this continues, as I was like a zombie these past few days with the reappearance of more night feeds!

Frolic J seems to have got fussy about taking a bottle of ebm recently. Am off to my parents today for a few days, so am going to use my mum as a trial run again - she's so keen to help with J when she can.

All these babies doing stuff - we keep kidding ourselves J is about to roll, but I think he's just fidgeting with more intent at the moment! He's more interested in grabbing toys though now, so maybe he will get a bit more mobile soon.

Loving all the star snugs - so cute! We don't have one and don't think J counts as a hippy baby, but he did tolerate being dressed up on Friday, so I have a pic of that instead.

sianihedgehog · 21/12/2015 07:00

Boo to the starsnug haters! I LOVE them. Loving all the gorgeous pictures of the babies in them, too! Everyone squeals when they see DS in his, looking like Maggie Simpson in her snowsuit.

DS was rocking his in his first trip out in the pushchair instead of the pram yesterday. He was terribly overtired, but seems to like being able to look about more while awake!

Has anyone else had a sudden change in pooping? Up until a week or so ago DS was going around 3x per day minimum, but over the past week it's dropped to once, and he didn't poop at all yesterday. Am I being a bit PFB worrying because he didn't poop for a day?

Bath supports: we don't use one at all. We had one of those sponge things at first, then we've been using the bath on the changing unit I got off eBay which has a kind of pyramid in it. But he's massively outgrown that now so we're just laying him in shallow water in the bathtub. Is there actually any reason for the supports? He seems really content just lying in the water...

Giraffescandance1 · 21/12/2015 07:42

I love all the baby pics! As we're all raising our babies as hippies do you think they should get the memo and start chilling out and SLEEPING at night Grin baby giraffe woke most hours of last night, I know not why...teeth?cold?random?

I'm off to m&s to brave the crowds now as apparently they have the best nut roast this year, I'm a veggie too. I'm sure I can pick up some Yule logs or six while I'm there too...

everythingispeachy · 21/12/2015 08:03

Siani we just pop ds2 in shallow water too and suppirt his head.I think ds1 was about 7 months before he could sit up in the bath so I'm not going to get a support now.
Ds2 usually poos once a day about mid morning. I think they go less as they get older so nothing to worry about.

Can I ask if/ what you have for starter on christmas day? Looking for some inspiration. I am going to get my cookery books out today and plan my menu, the best bit about christmas in my opinion closely followed by circling tv to watch in the radio times!

Joskar · 21/12/2015 08:13

We've got it in that green too, dozy. Love the stars! This is from when she was only about a month old.

We've got a baby bath with a support bit in it. It's the tippitoes one. Dd1 loves bathing her sister so I'm glad we have it. Both girls have been mad splashers so it's lovely to be able to let them get on with it. After the bath got too wee we have an inflatable duck which dd1 loved. It was to avoid having to run a big bath but I should think dd2 will just go into the bath with her sister so we might not need it this time.

Dd2 is a once a day pooper but I have a friend whose (bf) baby only went once a week. Apparently very common with bf babies not to poo very often. The hv told me it was because there isn't any waste as that bmilk is perfectly designed for that baby. That could be totally wrong of course but that's what she said.

Christmas food:

My mother's mince pies. She makes top class mincemeat and the best pastry.
Cheese. Smelly and delicious.
Smoked salmon.
Big tin of roses/quality street. Yet to buy. Too close to Christmas and all that's left are the green triangles.
Roast parsnips (with every meal. Dh is addicted)
Smil makes lovely sweets and excellent pate so looking forward to that on CD.

Laughing at Mr Giraffe! Nothing like a bit of motivation!

Merry Monday!

LOVING all these beautiful baby pictures! I have no need for a star snug, but I want one now ⭐️

Ds did good again last night. 8:30-4 and then awake at 6 and 8. I hope that means things are on the turn. I hope his jabs on Wednesday don't break the progress.

Good luck with trying the bottles tindel. I think I might get some bigger teats to try.

I love your rainbow pram siani. There is one around town here and I think of you every time I see it.
We don't have any poo pattern here. Sometimes it's multiple times a day and sometimes there is a gap of days. Like jockstar says, it's pretty common in bf babies not to go often. I'm not sure about ff and can't remember what you're doing sorry. Call you hv if you're worried.

Happy Monday everyone. I really am going to finish the cards and wrapping today!

Clstow · 21/12/2015 08:43

Argh all these starsnug babies are just too cute, I can't pick my favourite, well done all of us for having such ridiculously adorable babies 😆

No sign of the mouse again as yet... Trying to convince myself that it was a one off and he's gone now, but having lived in London for a while now I know deep down that it's never just one! We don't have a cat but the neighbours have loads and I've never minded about them pooing in our garden because I figured they were keeping our place rodent free but now they're not keeping up their end of the deal I might start spraying them with super soakers Xmas Grin

Loving the DH motivation tactics Giraffes, good to know that they can move quickly when they want to!

So happy for you that Mini M is coming out of the regression MzzF. Hurrah for sleep all round in fact, and extra chocolate orange for anyone feeling nackered.

Fanby I don't know the full story of the FB chat but just wanted to say that you know your baby and what's best for her and please don't let others let you feel judged. We're all doing our best and that's all we can do I reckon.

After being preggers last year I'm more excited about Christmas booze than food - Buck's Fizz for breakfast, wine with lunch, baileys in the evening, yum.

Quick question for the formula feeders, DS only BF overnight now (found dropping feeds 1 week at a time worked really well) - how many actual bottles do you have? We have 2 and I feel like I'm forever washing them, thinking it would be better to have more and do one big wash and sterilise a day. Just wondering what other people do?

mzzzf · 21/12/2015 08:55

Send the green triangles my way Joskar they're my favourite!!!!

And yes to matchmakers! But only if eaten in high speed chomps so you look like a beaver Smile

For starters we're having mini breaded Camembert pieces and tangy dip, cheese overload on Christmas Day!! I also do a tartiflette on Christmas Eve, so carbs overload also 😁

DD was a monster to get down last night, the night was OK by our standards - awful by anyone else's but such is life! Today is Monday, DH is off and for once it's not raining in Glasgow (yet!).

Fanby · 21/12/2015 09:19

Look at a the lovey baby photos!!! Oh a wonderful way to start the day!! Can't remember everything but here goeS...

Mzzf - Yep it's the same one (bath seat)! Cool will have a hunt and see if it's cheaper anywhere ;). I'm so excited I bought a bottle of premade mulled cider from Aldi last yr but didn't drink it because I found out I was preggers and ive just found if HURRRRAHH!!

Giraffes - that's hysterical! I wonder if I tell DH the same in lieu of him doing the hoovering??

Kbro - he is just GORGE!!! Look how happy he is!! Love your yellow pram too!! I'm a big fan of the star snugs but molly is deprived alas...
I used to feed everytime but since Thursday we're trying to settle her without as she's up 6/7 times atm so cannot be hungry and basically I got told by some other people on FB that I was starving her...ah well! I haven't taken it to heart at all. If they'd been up for the last two months that many times I reckon they'd be up for trying a different tactic too!! Good luck at the inlaws, we're not off to mine until Christmas Eve day!

Dozy - bloody love a domino's hope you enjoyed every mouthful! You were very diplomatic on FB have no fear! As I say it was much appreciated! Glad the carols went down well with Piper!!

Tindel - J looks bloody terrific in his Chrisrmas get up!! Too cute - he has loads of hair too!!

Siani - we had a change in poo which started two weeks ago and is just getting back to normal. She was the other way though and went back to poo'ing after every feed!! Glad DS liked his pram ride!!

Clstow - I express and reckon I have about 5 bottles. Thank you for the Buck's Fizz reminder!!!!!! Hope the mouse has gone, squeak squeak!

Peachy - we have charcuterie, pate or soup!

I totally want cheeselets and onion rings for breakfast!

Joskar · 21/12/2015 09:26

Tartiflette! LOVE!

We're having macaroni cheese and chips.

Dozygirl · 21/12/2015 09:59

Awwww so many cute baby photos with or without star snugs.

My dd has never been a big pooper . She generally goes every 3 days. Poor thing actually pooped in the night though last night and I didn't know because the little lambs hide the smell so she'd prob been sat in it for ages haha.
Also I totally read the time wrong when she woke up today....Thought it was 3 am so I was trying not to feed her but it was actually nearly 6 o'clock which is a perfectly acceptable time to be up for a feed haha.

Lol the Facebook group is actually really good and supportive, it's just the odd comment that gets my back up but it's just different styles of parenting.

Hope it's working out for u fanby. How is she doing?
