fleur - I think that we have the same baby! Either that or they are secretly on touch with each other and plotting against us.....

Toast85 · 01/11/2015 02:42

Eurgh I feel crap, I ache and hurt all over. FFS. BFing through the night is not fun with a cold. DH tried to give a bottle of EBM when she wanted feeding at 11pm so I could get a longer block of sleep but she only had a little and then started screaming at him so he had to come and wake me anyway so I could fill her up.
And someone down the road is having a Halloween party that is STILL going.

purplewhale · 01/11/2015 03:17

Toast I think we have the same baby. I can't get him to nap during the day unless we're out in pram or car seat. If I go out in the morning and he gets a nap we have a much better day. But I can't go out every morning. I need to work on this. Mum suggested bringing pram in the house but there's really no room, it has to live in the car. Think I'll try the sling tomorrow

Toast85 · 01/11/2015 04:39

Yes purple ! Getting up and moving and going out in the morning definitely helps. But if they are the same don't worry about not having the pram indoors, she only likes to sleep in it whilst it's moving. We take the carrycot off and try to use that as her downstairs bed, she's usually not amused.

Aaw little melbas getting so big now, it's getting awkward to get her into BF position and maintain it. Used to just tuck her in to my chest with one arm. My little dinky baby is growing!

mountaingirl01 · 01/11/2015 09:15

Just read all your messages, made us feel v.loved :) it was so horrible to have my baby in hospital, poor little mite. I'm so pleased she seems to be feeling better! X

RPopz · 01/11/2015 09:52

Great news mountain Smile

Jinxed myself. Minipopz woke up a bajillion times last night!!

purplewhale · 01/11/2015 18:33

Today's achievement is I have finally written the thank you cards. I've only got 4 left so hopefully I haven't missed too many people!

Fleurchamp · 01/11/2015 19:18

Well done purple!

I am embracing the napping in a sling/ moving pram/ car - I am now back in my pre pregnancy skinny jeans but I bloody well should be as my app tells me I have walked over 60 miles in the last week Shock

I made DH and MIL tow the new routine and they were pretty amazed at the difference in S if he has regular naps.

Still doesn't help him sleep at night though and I am knackered.

Minion · 01/11/2015 20:20

Hi gals
Sorry been mia this weekend, been at mums/in laws as we needed a bit of help with R, she's been a mess this week, sick everywhere. Pretty sure she has a touch of tonsillitis.
Refusing food, milk, borking on her medicine and dummies.. Honestly I've never seen so much vom.
And because she's poorly and hungry she's been waking up all hours. Managed 3 hours sleep last night.
So tired and she missed out on about 4 so had spent all day whinging cause she's tired.

mountain how's littly?

popz sssh don't jinx it.
cookie is E any better?

Can't remember who asked but yes I'm back at work sadly, though cause R was ill I've only done 2 days.. Oops.

Oh and I've injured my back so all in all a pretty crappy week.

Night girls, it's Downton and bed for this one tonight.

cookielove · 01/11/2015 21:15

Hi min yes E is fine, it seemed to be a one off thank God!!

He is back to his usual tricks now.

Took him to his first firework display last night he tolerated it and I got lots of snuggles :)

Dh is ill and annoying :(

Pisghetti · 01/11/2015 21:17

Evening. Hope poorly babies are on the mend Sad

We went to see some fireworks tonight. BabyPis seemed to enjoy and wasn't bothered by the noise. More interested watching kids running round with neon swords than the fireworks. Predictably we got stuck in the traffic queue from hell and she screamed for the whole hour it took us to make our way home. Fun!

LaLaLaaaa · 02/11/2015 09:33

Morning!!!

Fleur that's brilliant that your routine is going well! Do you rock him to sleep during day? I have to rock B to sleep otherwise he wouldn't go down. He sleeps about an hour in the morning which is lovely as that's when I get chores done and have breakfast. He sleeps about 45 min in afternoon but more if I let him sleep on me.

Toast she's still v little as she was preemie but she will get into her own routine as time goes on. B is quite predictable now and at nights he generally does 11, 1, 4, although last night he slept through the 11pm feed which was a nice surprise.

I'm really worried about my baby - he has a dry barking cough :(. I pulled up his mattress and found its covered in mould underneath! I'm so upset, how could I not have noticed!!! Our house is tiny so we have to keep windows open to let out condensation to prevent mould. But we had new double glazed windows put in recently and I wonder if they are making it worse because they are so insulating.

Ive got him a Dr appointment for this afternoon. I really hope it's not asthma or anything :(. Feeling pretty down about it as there's not much more I can do in the house to prevent damp.

Purple you're lucky getting extra sleep time at night when your dh does feed! That sounds like bliss! I'm so used to feeding with dh snoring next to me :(

Those of you struggling to get babies to sleep during day - what do you do to get them to sleep and where are they in the house? We whack on music loudly during day so that nothing we do wakes him up, I rock him to sleep and he goes down in the sleepyhead which is on the coffee table. Normally takes 10 mins or so of rocking to get him down but then he's asleep for about an hour.

Poor miniminion I hope she gets well soon xx

Fleurchamp · 02/11/2015 19:03

Nope, rocking worked for about two days and now he won't have any of it.

Naps in the house are pretty much exclusively in the sling.

How long do you rock B for? He must be pretty heavy now.

No nap was had this afternoon :-( my own fault, I went to my mum's without the sling and she wouldn't let me take him for a walk (she lives on a huge hill and can't walk far because of an old injury) as "nanny can rock you to sleep". She couldn't but wouldn't give it up.

So, he has screamed since 3pm, briefly stopping for food and now is so overtired I can't get him to feed.

I think I am going to contact a sleep consultant as we can't go on like this.

Pisghetti · 02/11/2015 20:13

Oh dear Fleur - that must have been really frustrating for you. Why do people assume they know a baby better than his mum?

And eeek La!! That's worrying. Can you air the mattress during the day? Do you know how it got wet?

BabyPis has been a fractious sod this evening. I brought her up to change her ready for bed and her poor bottom and lady bits are raw Sad don't know how that happened so quickly after her last nappy change. She's done a poo and the redness was everywhere that had been so it must have been a particularly burny poo. Poor wee soul. She's asleep now after a dose of calpol but I'm debating waking her up when I come to bed to change her and reapply sudocreme again Confused

Fleurchamp · 02/11/2015 21:39

Poor baby pis - have you tried metanium? It has worked wonders on S's poor diarrhoea ravaged derrière.

Sorry la I missed the bit about the mould- how awful! My house is a bugger to keep well ventilated too, I must check S's crib Confused

LaLaLaaaa · 03/11/2015 04:59

Fleur I've heard great things about sleep consultants. Definitely worth a shot. I can't understand why babies won't sleep - why don't they get that sleep is so good! Id love some sleep!

Been up with B most of the night as he has this horrible barking cough. Dr said his chest is clear, but that we need to keep eye on him in case it turns into croup. He is fine when awake but as soon as he falls asleep he coughs, so he's knackered poor sausage. Dh is currently rocking him back to sleep

Poor babypis that sounds very sore! What has she been eating?

LaLaLaaaa · 03/11/2015 06:36

Wrote a post earlier but it's not sent.

Fleur I've heard sleep consultants can be marvellous definitely worth a shot!

Poor babypis that sounds very sore

Been sitting up all night with B who is exhausted. If he falls asleep he coughs

LaLaLaaaa · 03/11/2015 06:37

Oh. There it is.

purplewhale · 03/11/2015 07:49

Ouch poor Babypis, we also used metanium and it got rid of it in a day or so

Poor minila too, hope his cough goes quickly.

My cold is hanging around and I'm coughing loads, so far B has escaped it.

He's 8 weeks old today...I can't believe it! To celebrate he's in a 3-6 month sleepsuit Smile
We haven't got loads of them - maybe 10 but loads of proper clothes so I'm going to start dressing him now. He's not a newborn and he doesn't look like one so its time for clothes I think.

The Colief is definitely working, I'm going to get some on prescription as its so expensive. The writhing has pretty much stopped, he still has a bit of wind after a feed but it comes up quickly now. He's also throwing up less too, which adds to my theory of it being the milk sat on the air bubble that was coming up.

Toast85 · 03/11/2015 08:20

Oh Pis I hope minipis' bum is better soon.

La i once found a shed load of mould in a flat we lived in. All up the back of the sofa, bookcase and on loads of stuff we stored behind the sofa. We had a huge condensation problem despite keeping windows open and literally soaking up the condensation every day with cloths. It was horrible. Apparently washing fabrics with vinegar in the machine destroys the mould spores.
Hope B's cough goes soon.

Purple just for comparison, MelbaToast is 8 weeks tomorrow. She still wears tiny baby or newborn sleep suits! She has a few tiny outfits but will be a while before she fits most of what she has. I really hope it's she's big enough for the lovely winter clothes and hats she received as gifts whilst it's still actually winter!

purplewhale · 03/11/2015 09:16

La there was bits of mould round the window in our house. I got rid with Lakeland mould remover. I have those pound shop damp traps now in the bedrooms and they do the trick. They sell them in Asda living too

DulcetMoans · 03/11/2015 09:34

Sorry, been a bit absent but have been reading!

Such a shame about the damp la, it's a shit to get rid of. Will it hurry your move back to Scotland? I guess it can't actually if you need to go back to work. I don't have any good tips for getting damp out of fabric. Hope B is feeling better today.

One of my NCT girls got a sleep consultant in this week fleur, she's found it really helpful. She is passing the tips on to us (I haven't read it yet!). Will pass on anything helpful that I learn. The main thing we talked about at the weekend was that she is treating daytime naps like nightime to teach him how to sleep. They take him upstairs, put him in a sleep bag, read to him etc to put him down. She had two hour naps out of him that way! Apparently half an hour or less is not a nap as they are not deep sleeping so all my success at getting him to sleep for half an hour is worthless!

Poor baby pis! What would make such acidic poos!? Hope it's better this morning.

3-6 already purple?! Good stuff! We are just moving up now and it's a bit sad in some ways. I haven't quite put all his 3-6 stuff in the drawers as seems to certain! It is cute when they get little outfits though.

This was a while back but toffee apples for work popz?! Thats not fair! Didn't you even get one?!

We might be having a trip to the doctors this week. Haven't quite decided but both mummy and baby are having poo problems. He's had a week of horrible poos and gone from one every couple of days to about 8 a day. Green and stinky. Had his weight checked and that's ok so don't think it's milk. Think it's a tummy issue.

RPopz · 03/11/2015 10:52

Eeek La. We have a mould prone house too. I have the upstairs windows open all year round to minimise condensation. Not ideal, luckily minip is a very warm baby. We have to close the bedroom window on a night for him though. Baby's coughs always sound so dramatic and they linger for ages.... It's probably viral though, Minip has had a couple this year. I think he will have asthma as MrP has. GP told me they don't diagnose asthma in babies though as there's so many reasons they could be chesty. Hope B feels better soon!

Poor mini Pis's bum! Xxx

So fricking irritating when people don't believe you know your own baby best fleur!! I get this all the time from the ILs. Glad the routine seems to be working out for you though!

Hiya dulce! I don't really like toffee apples tbh Wink He was doing toffee apple roulette anyway - the mean bugger. 4 red apples and one red onion!! Grin

Pisghetti · 03/11/2015 11:18

Toffee onions! Amazing Grin

She hadn't been having anything different food wise. I'm guessing it's teething. Doesn't that make poo more acidic? She looked much better this morning then did a poo and is back to square one. I'll nip out for some metanium later. Sudocreme has usually always done the trick but it's not touching it.

That's interesting Dulcet. We rarely get more than 30 mins in the daytime. But when we do, she sleeps better at night too. Might try resettling her instead of getting her up when she has a short nap.

Happy birthdays mini purple and Melba Smile I'm in the process of weeding out the last of her 3-6 months stuff. Her 6-9 clothes are still comically large on her. We keep losing legs at night so we have floppy empty sleep suit legs in the morning and her actual legs are tucked up foetal style.

Fleurchamp · 03/11/2015 11:54

Ooh yes, any tips you can pass on will be great dulcet

S also has poo issues. He is currently passing green slime about 8 times a day! The dr and hv don't seem to care Confused

He is still putting on weight and seems generally happy.
