Add your stats Viroids (or don't bother). I feel like there's something I'm supposed to write here but don't know what it is... Confused

Morning all.

Chook HELLO how the devil are you? I thought everyone had ran away and left me Sad

I'm quite tired this morning. I'm lucky that DD sleeps through without needing a feed but she wriggles and thrashes about in her sleep (then let's out almighty farts) that she wakes me anyway.

Now I am ff so no help really as although we did feed overnight DD gradually stopped waking for bottles as we got enough in to her during the day. Also tried dream feeding (more like how much can I spill feeding).

la have you tried baby massage for little-uns wind? SIL swore by it for her bairns. Bit hit n miss for my DD.

Off to visit parents this afternoon. They want to go a walk to park with other grandchild. I just want to curl up on sofa and doze. But I will go out. Fresh air awaits Grin

purplewhale · 16/09/2015 10:34

Thanks la the MW said that as I'm only getting 30ml when I pump for an hour and he's on 100ml formula feeds I need to BF for as long as he will then top up. He's now only getting 70ml formula after his BF. I can't get him to stay on more than 20 mins and tbh sometimes it's a bit sore.

She said that I must BF or pump every 3 hours and we will get bigger quantities within a day or so - and I've done this since she came yesterday. She's coming back tomorrow afternoon to see how we are doing
I'm going out to buy more nipple shields now - 2 is not enough!

I was wondering about not bothering with the formula and see how long he lasts - might try that this afternoon when we get back.

I'm so grateful for all the advice, thank you Smile

LaLaLaaaa · 16/09/2015 10:37

purple aside from feeding how are you getting on? I saw your photo shoot - gorgeous!

LaLaLaaaa · 16/09/2015 10:40

fudge - thank you! I have tried massage but I think I'm doing it all wrong so I'm going to go on a course. I do lots of leg bicycling and lifting legs up and down which lets out farts for him, but he still seems very sore bless him. I'm hoping it's a phase and will just disappear as he grows up a bit.

I'm sad - my little newborn no longer tucks his legs under him - awwww.... I've been cuddling him all morning sniffing his head as much as possible in case that bit disappears soon too! loser Grin

fudge - yes to fresh air! I love it for babies, it knocks them out!

LaLaLaaaa · 16/09/2015 10:41

Purple - x posted! It sounds like you're doing everything you can then - it will get easier and the bf will be much more natural once established. It's so hard at the start x

purplewhale · 16/09/2015 12:47

Yeah I'm really chuffed with the photo shoot. My friend is very talented Smile

Can't wait for the rest of the photos

He's just fed for 20 mins, 5 mins later screamed for more. DH now giving him a bottle. Think it's going to take a while to get enough supply for him.
Although in hindsight I should have put him on the other side first!
Oh well it's a learning curve

purplewhale · 16/09/2015 12:52

As for me I'll be glad when the lochia stops.
My scar is healing well, I'm getting more mobile every day. I feel like I could, drive but I'm not going to yet. MW just said if I can fasten the seatbelt and do an emergency stop then I can drive. Insurance company said when doctor says I can.
I'm crying constantly but I don't feel like I can't cope so I think it's just hormones.
The trapped wind is an arse, I've got peppermint oil capsules, and peppermint tea now

B just took 40mls which is an improvement. I think the 20 min feed hopefully gave him more today than before

Fleurchamp · 16/09/2015 13:01

Why won't he sleeeeeeep??? He has been awake since 6.30am and barely a blink.

So fed up. Sleep damn you.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 16/09/2015 13:54

Hi all, welcome Fudge and Chook.

Purple sounds like you're doing a grand job, if you can take it a day at time, or even a feed at a time, you will get there for sure!

Hope you had a great holiday, Mini, and it didn't tire you out even more than being at home!

Fleur, La, the dream feed didn't work for P - he was too sleepy. I don't think it suits all babies and for some it disrupts their long sleep stretch leading to more frequent wake ups afterwards.

I have the opposite problem. Mini Snap doesn't feed enough and sleeps too much. Saw a different GP yesterday - he's been taken off Gaviscon which gave him hard little pebble poos, back on the Carobel. GP wants weekly weighings and said next step is to try different formula but that need to get advice from HV re which one - she thinks Apamil Pepti is 'supposed to be good' for reflux but GPs 'don't know very much about baby milk'. HVs say they can't advise on formulas, I need to decide which is the right one and that I need to feed him every two hours in the day and wake him every three hours at night.

Thought I'd try Aptamil Pepti as can't get any sense out of anyone, only to find it's only available on prescription.

I think I am about to lose the plot.

LaLaLaaaa · 16/09/2015 14:00

purple first of all - sending you a hug! The first few weeks are the toughest! Crying is absolutely normal - and about the daftest things sometimes.

I cried because I didn't think my cats loved me anymore.
Every day.
At 4pm.

Hang on in there - the hormones will calm down. Yes to driving - I was signed off early by mw to drive as I felt able to do the emergency stop (I was carrying a heavy child around all day so what's the difference!?!)

The lochia is yuck - mine stopped at around 5-6 weeks. You do sort of feel like you're leaking from everywhere at first - bit like being pregnant!

The trapped wind is a bitch and no one told me to expect it - so I thought I was dying.... drama queen

fleur - stick him in the sling for a bit, whack on the radio and dance around the living room? That's what I do (or just hold him) - our particular favourite is Panic by The Smiths, it's got a nice sway-y bass-line that he likes a lot.

B just took a bottle of expressed milk - hooray! We've been having no joy with the Avent bottles so I took Kato's advice and used the Mam one I got free at baby show. Worked like a dream! One step closer to being able to leave him for an evening out...

Chookford · 16/09/2015 14:11

fudge I was around thought everyone had moved to fb too! Hope you are doing ok?! Mabel is growing so fast it's scary! As la says cherishing this baby baby bit as she is my last!

purple you sound like you are getting there with the bf as others have said it takes a while to get the hang of, it's also totally normal to be incredibly hormonal it's sound like you are doing a great job take each feed at a time and before you know it you will be a pro!

fleur I'm sure you have tried everything but thought I would mentioned my eldest dd would always fall asleep to the sound of running water Hmm so we used to turn on the shower for a minute and she would drop right off... Don't know if that may be worth a shot..

Chookford · 16/09/2015 14:12

Oh and la hooray for the expressed bottle massive achievement! Grin

purplewhale · 16/09/2015 15:35

Thanks lovelies Smile

Hurray for bottles la

PixieChops · 16/09/2015 17:05

Welcome Fudge, Chook and Purple!

Purple you sound like you're doin a fab job, I know bugger all about breast feeding as I didn't ever do it. Well apart from 1 day with my first.
Pis whatever you do don't do what I did and have 2 within 13 months of each other. I am so so so so so tired!
Last night for example P went down at the normal time of 7:30- she woke up at 10pm and stayed awake for 5 hours! She was really hot all over so I had to strip her down, give her water and nurofen (think it's her teeth as she's been fine today) anyway I got to bed at 12:30pm today for 2.5 hours. Then amongst that I've had a 12 week old to look after. To say it's not been fun is an understatement.
My house is a mess, I cleaned it a bit yesterday but if I'm not about nobody gives a shit and just leaves crap everywhere so I'll have to tidy up again tonight once the kids are in bed.
I'll catch up properly (probably next week at this rate) later on.
Overall feeing in this house today is seriously fucked off with a pinch of can I really be that arsed anymore

PixieChops · 16/09/2015 17:07

Fleur with Dream feeding P loved it and it really helped her but with R he just doesn't entertain it whatsoever and sticks his lips out (like Jay Z) so I can't get the bottle in there!

LaLaLaaaa · 16/09/2015 17:50

We are in hospital. B choked feeding and stopped breathing. Utterly terrifying. He's ok now x

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/09/2015 18:44

Oh gawd la how scary Flowers,
Glad he's okay now. Hope you ok ((hugs are allowed for this I feel, so please have a huge bear hug))

purple I was crying for no reason the other day. DD is 14wo tomorrow. Think it was because she wouldn't stop crying so I just joined in! It's so overwhelming this baby lark. Anyhow, I was driving at about 2 weeks after an episiotomy. But only if I really really needed to.

Thanks for the welcome pixie. Also, cleaning? What's that?!!! Ha ha ha. I'm trying to clear one area a day. It's not going well Grin

chook we are good. DD is coming along well. Glad you and mabel are well

Is anyone's mil (or own parents) getting on your wick? My mil seems to think it's ok to text the day she wants to see my dd or the night before (as in 10pm) then gets all PA and huffy when I say I already have plans! Gah. Irrational annoyance but it makes me feel like we are a last minute "oh I've nothing else to do so I know I'll go visit fudge/baby fudge". Grrrrrrr

purplewhale · 16/09/2015 19:32

Oh shit La how terrifying. So unbelievably glad he's ok xx
Poor B and poor you/DH

Thanks fudge I'm prone to anxiety so I'm very aware of it all. I do keep crying but I'm not anxious. As long as it stays that way it will be fine

cookielove · 16/09/2015 20:08

Oh la how scary for you! Glad B is ok!

Hello chook welcome to the mad house Grin

Chookford · 16/09/2015 20:24

Hello cookie and pixie thanks for the welcome...

la my god how scary, I'm so glad B is ok now you must have been absolutely terrified

Chookford · 16/09/2015 20:26

snap thank you too Smile

RPopz · 16/09/2015 21:50

Hey chook and fudge x

Omg La! Poor B and poor you!! Glad he's ok now though - are you staying in?

Glad bfing is on the up purple ... Do you have to pump/ feed every 3 hours for a reason? Is he prem? I forget sorry. Because I think he's old enough now for you to just feed on demand - which like La says is the best way to get your supply going. Pumping isn't very efficient either so don't feel disheartened if you're not getting much. Hope you don't think I'm picking on you or being breastapo or anything - I just get really upset by people being given bad advice on bf by hcps who know little about it. (I'm actually going on a bf support worker course at the end of this year).

Sorry for not contributing much. Minipopz is in leap 6 and a tantruming nightmare Confused Am feeling a bit lost amongst all you new mummies too! X

RPopz · 16/09/2015 21:52

(Not trying to say I'm the world authority on breastfeeding either though! Wink ) Oh man I'm all defensive and anxious. Better go to bed....

mountaingirl01 · 17/09/2015 04:05

Hope he's ok la Flowers how terrifying.

Ok viroids, so we have another night of cluster feeding here. She starts about 11 and we're still going. Thing is I can cope with just feeding her all night, but she isn't even doing the deep suckling and keeps falling asleep on the boob (only to wake up when moved and scream if out in crib). Is this a problem with my let down?! Or normal?! Actually about to go crazy. and if dh keeps snoring there may be a murder
I was hoping to go to the breastfeed clinic tomorrow, but there's no way now I'm going to get out the house by 9! Plus her latch is good and was checked by mid wife yesterday. I am getting thoroughly fed up of random people staring at my boob :(

LaLaLaaaa · 17/09/2015 06:00

We are still in hospital (same room as last time!) for observation. It looks like b has reflux. I had noticed he was a bit more spitty and dribble this week but thought perhaps just a stage. But now it makes sense that it's reflux. They think he choked on milk coming back up rather than my fast let down.

It was terrifying. I was feeding him and he started to cough like he's done before. Pulled him upright and he wasn't breathing and went all floppy. I turned him over and banged his back but nothing happened so I just blind panicked. Ran out into the street in my slippers in the rain screaming for help. Luckily a lady was passing who just grabbed him off me, turned him upside down and whacked him a few times and he started breathing again. But his breathing wasn't right - think he was sleepy and shocked - so ambulance called and we were taken to hospital.

I'm now terrified to feed him :(
