Add your stats Viroids (or don't bother). I feel like there's something I'm supposed to write here but don't know what it is... Confused

Can't type with left hand so bear with me

Trying new night time tactic of feeding in bed as nursery chair makes him wake up ( he spots giraffe sticker on wall and gets excited - I kid you not, this child talks to anything!)

He's fast asleep so in attempting stealth transfer...

Dulcet how annoying! Did you see thing I posted on Facebook? We have to be ninjas at night! My elbow cracked once and woke him up but the worst is plugging phone into charge - it goes BZZZZZZ!!!

Deeply I would second trying sleep clinic. If she's waking that often there could be an explanation? like sleep apnoea is v common and causes wake ups. How do you put her down to sleep - do you rock to sleep? If I put b down when he's in light sleep he doesn't sleep long but if I rock him into deep sleep he sleeps a long time

Leaking not good toast get ye to the docs.

I can't feel a whole section across my stomach and it really pisses me off as I didn't want a frigging CS (damn large babies!) - apparently it could be permanent.

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 03:58

Deeply what are you doing about the wind? I'm a wind expert these days as B is v windy (yes purple we have shares in infacol)

Massage, leg whirling, leg bicycling, leg flapping, holding upright 10 min after feed, winding properly, tummy time, going dairy free, watching what you eat, infacol, checking latch, calming down with dummy before screaming kicks off, feeding little and often. All these things help

Give me a shout on Facebook if you want any further info x

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 04:00

Purple try blowing on face to keep him awake. Works a treat

Also have you tried Dr Browns bottles?

DulcetMoans · 18/10/2015 06:29

Yes la! The stupid phone charger! Pretty sure I just woke him up taking my socks off in bed too!

Fleurchamp · 18/10/2015 08:08

Morning worst.night.ever.

deeply S only sleeps for 10 hrs per day. The HV didn't seem concerned.

Now I am not sure if he's even getting that at the moment.

DH is taking S out soon so I can sleep - I don't think he realised how long I was up for in the night. He remembered S waking at 2.30 and me coming back in the room at 6 but what he hadn't realised was that I had been up the entire time. He actually said to me this morning - didn't S have a good night? - I was raging Angry

S was then up for the day at 7.30, I am just feeding him but he is so sleepy.

What is this pantley pull off?!? May google but scared of what might come up on google! I am probably creating all sorts of bad habits at the moment. S used to feed and then be put down slightly awake before drifting off to sleep. Now, I have to have him properly asleep in my arms before making a stealth transfer to his cot (making sure to avoid the squeaky floorboard on the way).

Someone has swapped my faulty baby for a completely broken one Sad

RPopz · 18/10/2015 09:03

Nope Dulcet I don't think we have! We've been out together with the baby, but not without him. I don't trust anyone to look after my baby tbh! #controlfreak

Fleur it's basically just pulling your nip out of their mouth while they're snoozy but before they fall fully asleep, so they get used to dropping off without it. Doesn't really work here as minipopz just thrashes about like a salmon looking for it again! It's early for minifleur - I wouldn't worry about it yet. X

RPopz · 18/10/2015 09:04

Pantley is the name of the author - Elizabeth Pantley I think it is. She's written a good gentle sleep book.

purplewhale · 18/10/2015 09:24

Thanks for the numbness comments - I seem to be normal Smile

Toast, if you've got red patches, or anywhere feels hot, or you feel unwell you need urgent attention. Also if pus is coming out.
Mine recovered quickly from that. The leaking was a watery reddy orangey fluid and not infection.
I stood in the bath and prodded my stomach about til liquid came out. It was quite disgusting but it needed to be out! The GP told me to use sanitary pads to absorb the leakage so I chopped maternity ones in half and used them.
I'm very glad it's stopped as you can probably imagine!

purplewhale · 18/10/2015 09:26

La I'll try blowing Smile

Fleur that sounds like hell, hope you get some rest soon

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 11:08

Oh god fleur that's awful! We were pretty much the same - bloody wind had him refusing to sleep in crib from 3am so I had to hold him and stay awake most of the rest of the night. Just had 2.5 hours kip because dh took him. Feel semi human. Ish.

B is the same with sleep - used to settle himself but now needs to be rocked or held. Grr. Wonder if it's a development thing? We are coming up for the evil leap (fleur and dulcet) I've heard it's a rubbish one

Dulcet - how was J after jabs? Got our second lot on thurs

Fleurchamp · 18/10/2015 12:07

coming up for the leap Shock I keep telling myself it is just a phase and will be over soon (quietly, to myself whilst rocking in a corner).

I feel very low today. DH has taken S out, brought him back to be fed (and to show off his tummy time skills Grin) and then took him back out again up give me some space.

Plan was that I slept (which I did for two hours) but I also seem to have done the washing, ironed DH a shirt for tomorrow and sorted out food shopping delivery for tomorrow....

DulcetMoans · 18/10/2015 12:51

Is that the 'events' leap la? I haven't read it yet. Another thing to look forward to! J was ok after these jabs. After last time I got DH to brave the day off and the little bugger took it all like a trooper and was smiling by the time we got in the car! Obviously rather he was happy but make me look like a total wimp to DH! He didn't get a fever and was t too grizzly the rest of the day. It's that MelB one that made it so bad last time.

Boo to the shit night fleur. DH has done that 'wasn't it a good night' thing in the morning - soon told him where to go! Glad you're getting a break today. It is hard to decide what to do when you have a break though - sleep, relax, chores, eat.

Didn't realise there was a name for that popz. I do try that with mixed results. Failing like a salmon is a good description though!

Anyone near a laptop for new thread?

Pisghetti · 18/10/2015 13:22

Urge spice girl jabs are just the worst Dulcet Grin

ZylaB · 18/10/2015 13:42

Separation anxiety is fucking shit! I need to get things done! She won't even sleep during the day if she isn't on me, in the car or pram. Rant over :)

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 13:50

Zyla no idea what you mean she's says whilst prisoner on couch because DS won't sleep in sleepyhead and will only sleep on me

Last time B was upset day after jabs - so dh has booked Friday off. If he's not bad I'm going to hear about it aren't I!?

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 14:07

Feeling decidedly chipper today - a bit of sleep followed by boiled dippy eggs for breakfast. weeeee it's the simple pleasures!

Viroids talk to me about day naps, own rooms and weaning. When weaning when did you start? I thought it might be ok to start offering him some solid foods from Christmas when he'll be 5 months?

During day when did you start to put baby upstairs? B is 3 months this week and still sleeps in sleepyhead in lounge, but it's getting harder to get him to sleep there - he's just too interested in everything and stares around lounge at TV and pictures. I was thinking it might be better for him to put him somewhere more quiet but as usual I'm mindful of SIDS advice

Most of my mummy friends have started putting baby in own room at night but I'm definitely not ready to do that yet with B. He goes up to our room on his own from 7 until I go to bed at 9:30, but with a whole heap of white noise, monitor on and me checking on him every half hour. My anxiety goes into overdrive about the SIDS stuff.

Has anyone seen wil? She's not posted for a while

I'm really proud of myself - B is 12 weeks this week and I'm still EBF!!! I NEVER thought I'd make it this far as I hated it so much for the first 6 weeks! When he choked I almost quit then.

I gave myself benchmarks, firstly 2 weeks then 6 then 12. But I'm still going and I'm quite happy Smile he is much easier to feed. I do still wish I could hand him to dh to feed as I'm so tired but otherwise I'm ok. No more benchmarks, I feel happy continuing. I was thinking about introducing a bottle of formula at this point but right now I'm happy carrying on without it.

Indigoblue2 · 18/10/2015 15:09

la its really not advised to offer any solids whatsoever before 6 full months - it's to do with the gaps in their gut. Before 6 months their gut is still "open". As far as I know the research says that offering any solids before 6 months will increase the risk of sensitising them to allergens and other issues. I'll try and find a good link for you.

Indigoblue2 · 18/10/2015 15:11

Re sleeps and naps I've no idea! But WELL FUCKING DONE on the feeding lass - you set achievable goals and nailed them. Kudos to you! (Blows kiss)

Indigoblue2 · 18/10/2015 15:14

Here ya go:

kellymom.com/ages/older-infant/delay-solids/

ZylaB · 18/10/2015 15:32

H still won't sleep upstairs during the day... We did solids from a week before 6 months when she took some food from my plate and tried to eat it! I kept her in our room at night until 7 months because I liked having her there, but she is a quiet sleeper :)

LaLaLaaaa · 18/10/2015 15:52

I thought i was told its ok to offer them things like banana a bit earlier - but I'll buy a weaning book and inform myself a bit more before he gets there!

Indigoblue2 · 18/10/2015 16:40

I think there's still a bit of confusion out there because they used to say between 4 and 6 months. The more research that's been done on it they've adjusted to 6 months but it's not filtered through to the HV's etc, so a lot of them are still giving out outdated advice, surprise surprise!

DulcetMoans · 18/10/2015 18:06

Haha. I thought hat when I posted it pis but went with it. That pesky jab gives babies the zigga zig ouch!

Bronze bobbies for you la! I didn't think it's make it last 2 weeks either. I had the same plans about easing him in at Christmas la, thought there would be lots of veg about to use. I looked into it a bit as I get a big annoyed at the slightly arbitrary dates on everything - not all babies are the same. The NHS has three things to look for to show a baby is ready for weaning, I've screen shot it below.

Is it a growth spurt thing zyla? Sounds exhausting!

DulcetMoans · 18/10/2015 18:10

Sorry, meant to add this...

Indigoblue2 · 18/10/2015 18:42

Yeah it's confusing dulcet! What I've taken from it is that not all babies are the same in their behavioural signs but they are the same in the physiology of their guts - so even if your baby looks ready outwardly, you can't see how open or closed the lining of their intestine is (obviously!) so it's much safer to wait. But of course it's a personal choice as with everything.
