Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes, they do feed more when hot, just as we drink more I guess. MiniSnap is very sleepy today too, actually quite hard to get him to feed (no change there then).

What's with these DHs and their inability to participate in the care of their children? Is it the 1950s? And the 'I've got to work' thing is utter bullshit. Like caring for a baby 24 hours a day is the easy option. I felt like I was on holiday when I went back to work after mat leave last time.

Having a baby does put a strain on relationships but it does get easier as they get bigger and sleep more, feed less, and start interacting with you both. Nothing like those first gummy smiles, MiniSnap has just started and it makes it all worth while.

Until then I think you need to kick your DHs' arses into the middle of next week. And put festering babygros in their pillowcases.

And hair - my luscious pregnancy locks have started falling out of my head and proliferating everywhere else. I am a yeti. Same thing happened after my first was born and then it grew back in tufts all over my head - attractive!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/08/2015 20:03

Have a lovely night out those viroids going out!!! You deserve it!

Dulcet I wondered if I was the only one whose stitches were still bothering them. I am still in massive pants and can't wear anything except maternity leggings. I wore jeans the other day and it was warm - big mistake it was very sweaty and sore!

Pil came and were very sweet and loved MiniLa. Dhs step mum had 4 babies so took mini straight from me which was lovely. They took him out in pram which was nice except they were an hour and a half so when he got back he was boiling and dehydrated.

They've only just left (dh went to work at 3) so I'm enjoying a bit of downtime as B is asleep and cats are in and asleep upstairs. My bedroom is 25 degrees! Should I just put him to bed in short sleeve and no leg babygrow? I could put him in 1.0 tog sleeping bag too but he doesn't seem to sleep well in it. Might just stick blanket over his legs. What are you putting yours to bed in tonight? I know I've asked this before but do please indulge my mad OCD!

Min - hug back! You're having a shitty time from sounds of it! Jiffy bag for minimin?

Cross post snap! Can you use yeti ness as excuse for fancy new do?

Glad to hear it gets better...!!!

La - to save you millions more typing.... the things with no legs are called vests or bodysuits. To me anyway. Anything with legs and feet is a babgrow. (Not sure where I stand with babygrows with no feet in.... Hmm Grin )

ANYWAY. I just put miniPopz to bed in a short sleeved bodysuit. But he is a sweaty betty. I'll prob put his pj bottoms on when he wakes up later for boob..... which apparently is now.... bugger.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 22/08/2015 20:32

MiniSnap will be going to bed in a body suit (short sleeves, no legs as Popz says) with single cellular blanket. I would use a sheet but they're all too big and would be folded several times. Temp in room is 24 degrees.

Love the idea of a fancy new do, La, I haven't brushed my hair for 7 weeks! Glad you got a little respite today, your PIL sound lovely.

LaLaLaaaa · 22/08/2015 20:53

Vest! I knew that, it just vanished from my baby brain!

Cool that's what I'll do too. He's fast asleep here - busy day being adored by doting grandparents!

Popz how often does miniP nap now? Do they start to nap less and be awake more? I really should get a parenting book but I quite like finding stuff out as I go! I'm reading the baby whisperer during feeds. Has helped already - rocking forward and back instead of side to side puts B to sleep really well.

Snap yes - these pil are lovely. Dhs stepmum is hilarious. She took lots of acid in the 60s/70s so is a bit out there and hippyish and I love how she thinks, she helps me to see life from B's point of view and understand why he's doing what he's doing.

I think you deserve the new do! I'll support you in any argument ;)

OP posts:
WilHarlot · 22/08/2015 21:05

Yes La they start napping less. In fact you might find they stop napping at all and in fact would fare quite well in guantanamo bay during sleep deprivation torture Hmm . Micro normally has one good sleep a day and then a few crappy five minute when half feeding ones.

Go for the new do Snap. You must join fb so we can see before and after shots though Grin .

Ah sweet bed. Please let tonight be ok.

RPopz · 22/08/2015 21:18

MiniP has two or three naps a day now, depending on what we're doing. One is usually in the sling during walking the dog or going out somewhere. I think asleep and awake time has become more defined as he's got older. As a newborn there was a lot of feeding and boobsnoozing! It took me a while to understand his sleepy cues too.

I'll support your right to a new do too Snap! I've got an app on Tues but don't know what to have done or whether I can really justify the cost...

RPopz · 22/08/2015 21:19

Hope you get a good sleep wil!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/08/2015 21:25

Popz whatever makes you feel happy or good about yourself is worth the cost Grin

OP posts:
DulcetMoans · 22/08/2015 22:30

Get to sleep wil, hopefully you'll be allowed a good few hours!

Stitches are mostly ok la but not so good in the heat. They look like they've healed well but sting a bit sometimes. My bigger issue is the flabby but above it. Feels so bruised and injured and doesn't seem to be getting any better.

J is a sweaty Betty but still has long sleeves and legs for bed. Maybe should reconsider that - in my mind that is PJs though. He just has a blanket over him then which I have been taking off half way through the night.

How long until your trip home min? Good to have that to look forward to!

Are you thinking you will get a drastic do change then popz?

Evening out went well. Was gone 2.5hrs, DH drive me down there so J slept in the car and then stayed asleep until they collected me more or less. Didn't even use the milk until we got in. He must have been knackered though as he barely slept all day!

WilHarlot · 22/08/2015 23:19

Hurrah Dulcet a total success!

The wee minx is up already Hmm .

Pisghetti · 23/08/2015 00:12

I'm sat in a club toilet pumping. Can't workout if this is a high or low point in my life!

LaLaLaaaa · 23/08/2015 01:27

Hooray for night out going well!!

It's boiling here! Just done first night feed and I'm sweating buckets under hot infant

Dulcet I wondered about that - the flabby bit above my stitches also feels bruised and sore.

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 23/08/2015 01:29

Wil - gin? (You not her)

Pis - most definitely a highlight! Chalk it up to experience!! Hope you're having a lovely time

OP posts:
DulcetMoans · 23/08/2015 01:36

Haha. That's a photo for the 'glamourous book of motherhood' pis! Hope you're having fun!

First feed of the night here too. He's so warm! I'm so warm! Don't dare open window though in case he cries it outside wakes him up.

LaLaLaaaa · 23/08/2015 06:14

I'm exhausted. He's waking every hour and in pain from wind. I wind him and wind him but can only get a burp out one in two times and he then gets woken up with legs thrashing in the air.

Hoping gripe water will help but he can't have it for another week

OP posts:
WilHarlot · 23/08/2015 07:08

La I really think he has reflux. That's what C was like.

It's not very hot here Angry .

Pis I have been there before! The worst part is having to chuck the milk away. Hope you had a good night.

This one woke up three times by 3am at which point I just let her sleep with me. My nipples hurt - she clearly thinks they are dummies.

LaLaLaaaa · 23/08/2015 07:35

But he's never sick and doesn't have any of the other symptoms of it. I'm confused. He was fine all day yesterday because I managed to wind him each time and get a burp. He slept really well. I couldn't wind him very well last night so I'd thought it was just trapped wind. I've propped cot up at one end though to see if that helps. He goes off to sleep fine but then gets woken up and thrashes about and cries

LaLaLaaaa · 23/08/2015 07:46

At end of tether here. How do you get a decent gp? Mine didn't know anything about babies

OP posts:
minimooo · 23/08/2015 08:06

la I've been doing baby massage with E for 3 days now and last night was the first night in ages and ages that she hasn't woken up with legs in air struggling with gas. I can't say for sure if it's connected to the baby massage yet but maybe it would be worth a go? I was given a booklet by a hv last week which has pictures of the moves - would you like me to post some photos of the pages?
I'm going to continue with it and will let you know if the better nights continue or not.
she also did a ginormopoo yesterday too, with hardly any of her usual straining and purple face
Def give the Gripe Water a go when you can. It's not a magic cure by any means but it's definitely helped move the wind along for E.

Sounds like rough night wil. 3 times by 3am is hard work. Did she sleep better once she was in with you?

I always have that internal argument dulcet! Open the windows and risk noise waking her up? Or close windows in stifling heat? Last night I took the risk and opened them because it was 27.5 degrees in our bedroom!

Haha pis Grin Hope you had a good time!

la and dulcet I had that very sore flappy bit above my incision too. I think it was sore until about 3 months (though I seemed to recover from my cs quite slowly compared to others) It hardly hurts at all any more it's still very flappy though Sad

Ooo new dos! My hair is falling out by the handfull atm too snap. I keep clogging up the shower plug, ugh! Before and after shots please popz and snap! Need some inspiration.

Off to the in laws today. Really really don't want to go Sad Not getting on with MIL at all atm which is sad because she's a nice person in her own way. Since E was born, our relationship has just gone to shit.

minimooo · 23/08/2015 08:07

I wish I knew the answer to that question la! I can't even get an appointment at ours Angry

WilHarlot · 23/08/2015 08:13

Can you try a different one at the practice? Silent reflux I meant, not the sicky kind. Maybe not then but he does sound awfully sore. Definitely try the massage and lots of time in the sling when it cools down a bit.

Mini that's a shame about MIL. I think I'd be like that with mie if she was closer and I really like her normally.

Can I have a super quick poll. Choice of two dresses: White with a print or black with a print. White is more flattering but my skin is only one shade past Scottish and have no instant fake tan. Which to wear?

minimooo · 23/08/2015 08:33

We used to get on OK, not best buds or anything, but we were OK. I think it's because I just used to let her take over everything without pushing back. She's like the matriarch of the family and pretty much everything is done her way. It never used to bother me that much before because I'd just let it all go over my head and not get caught up in it all. But since I've had E it really bothers me! Especially when she tries to tell me how to look after E. And she slags off other new mums (dh's cousins) to me about their parenting choices, so I just know she's doing the same about me to them Angry

I'd be inclined to go black with print. Is it black with white print? Or different colour print? What's the occasion?
