Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 11:32

Oh and although there are still challenges, I definitely think it gets easier. I used to do every single thing to the sound of C crying. She'd scream whenever she was put down or even a lot of the time when being held. Made life v stressful. Even teething doesn't compare to those days.

FurryScoob · 02/09/2015 12:19

la I found it got easier after 6 weeks & a lot easier after 12 weeks. I've got no idea how it got easier I just started to realise I was showered & dressed before lunch time & leaving the house didn't take hours of planning any more. I've got no idea how you make the men understand how trapped you feel being with a baby 24 hours a day, miniS is 9 1/2 months old & DP still doesn't get it.

Thanks for the mixed formula suggestions ladies, unfortunately it doesn't mix & becomes a weird split cocktail looking thing.

I have Hives Sad I've had them for 2 months & there just getting worse, been to the doctor but theres nothing they can do, it's a virus that has to run its course. I may itch myself to death before it's better.

DulcetMoans · 02/09/2015 12:39

Thanks for the reassurance all. I didn't realise they can fall and follow another line. Maybe he was born too big, he was a big boy! HV wasn't too concerned this week but obviously did raise it. They are very pro BFing here and there's lots of support which I have accessed which is why I'm a but distressed that it's not doing the right job. There's a group tomorrow morning I've been going to so might ask there.

I'm at 6 and a half weeks la and already agree that some things are better and some aren't. BFing is better in the sense that I am healed and know better what I'm doing but the frequency hasn't died down and I see no daytime pattern yet. FX for 12 weeks now!

You must be getting good at catch now then wil if she flying off the bed, why are they so determined to injure themselves?!

Bad news on the hives furry, where are they? Is there not even cream they can give to help ease the itch?

Good news for another good night min, long may it continue!

I had been doing so much better emotionally but had a break down on an unknown sure start member of staff earlier when I turned up at the wrong place for a group that wasn't running today. I don't cope well when he's crying and I'm out! Think he might have a slight cold - he's got a croaky cry!

WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 13:03

Aw Dulcet, sending hugs. It is stressful when they're crying in public and you think everyone is thinking "why can't she make him stop?" But what they're probably actually thinking is "oh god, poor woman, I've been there." You're definitely doing fine with the bfing. I only get the baby weighed a maximum of once a month and then I find I stress less. We still have no pattern with daytime feeds. I think if you feed on demand you don't really.

Hives from a virus? Didn't know that happened. I had them all over my body once and they just wouldn't go away, it was torture. Now I can't take penicillin just in case that's what set them off - though I doubt it. Have you tried steroids etc?

Minion · 02/09/2015 13:32

And so she crawls... And has her eyes firmly set on the fireplace..

FurryScoob · 02/09/2015 13:42

I never knew you could get hives from a virus either but they are definatly everywhere. The worst ones are on my arms so doctor doesn't want to give me steroid cream incase it gets on miniS, I've got some antihistamines which have reduced the itching but I still look like Mr Blobby with no clothes onSad

You can't beat a bit of fireplace climbing min! I'm fighting a loosing battle keeping miniS away from the fake coal in ours.

Minion · 02/09/2015 14:15

The same as us scoob, there must be something about fake coal which is jus so exciting for rugrats.

WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 14:48

Oh the fire fascination lasts well into toddlerhood. Thank god we don't have one.

Can't you take steroid tablets though?

Stuck in teething hell. Refused afternoon nap so we're out for a walk but that's not working either. Humph.

Minion · 02/09/2015 15:00

Oh wil
Hugs.
Gin.

Fleurchamp · 02/09/2015 17:02

I typed a really long post and then lost it Angry

Hurrah! (I think?) for crawling! min

That's rubbish wil I am dreading teeth - how on earth does that work with BF?

la I agree - get out there! I force myself to go for a walk every day - S likes the car seat or the sling and will usually nap for about an hour. I am lucky I live near a park (although I know every square inch of it and could do my usual walk blindfolded!)

I hate HVs too - I mentioned that I had given S some formula when I was unwell. Her reaction was as though I had poisoned him! She basically said I was on a slippery slope to giving up BF (maybe I am!) but I need the comfort of knowing I can have some time off if necessary.

We ended up getting a private referral to a paediatrician under our health insurance - the Dr basically said we would have to wait a few more weeks before she could refer under the NHS. The only alternative was to take S to children's a &e! The thought of spending a day there sealed it for me.

I have treated myself to some clothes (shirt dresses mainly) which are suitable for BFing and are not maternity. I feel so much better for it Grin

WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 19:30

Gin gratefully received. Crossing fingers she's going to agree to bed in five minutes. The toddler begged me to let her go to bed early tonight, strange child. Hoping she now won't be up at stupid o'clock.

Teeth + bfing = extreme sport. Latch them on and hope to fuck they don't realise what they're capable of Wink. No, Mini only bit me once or twice so hoping this one won't be worse.

Do you think being dairy free has had any effect Fleur?

Funny how buying clothes can help you feel better. Like getting a hair cut.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 02/09/2015 19:44

The toddler is possessed.

And the baby sounds like a kazoo.

Furry hives sound horrid. Are you run down (obviously sleep deprived and exhausted)? Hope it calms down soon.

Crawling Min! It's amazing how fast they can go once they get the hang of it. A friend's baby once moved so fast she couldn't get to him before he'd dashed to the toilet, plucked out the Toilet Duck gel pellet and swallowed it whole. He was fine, though he did have Toilet Duck burps for a couple of days.

Glad you've got a paediatrician appt, Fleur, shame you had to go private but at least you have the insurance. Really hope you get some answers and a good plan to follow.

You've probably already tried them, Wil, but do Nelson's teething granules help? It feels a bit wrong pouring white powder into your baby's mouth but a couple of friends swear by them.

DulcetMoans · 02/09/2015 20:01

Wonder what flavour toilet duck it was snap! Hopefully teaches them not to do it again.

Suspect behaviour from mini there then wil but hopefully positive! I've been told about Teetha as a wonderful baby product, would that help with teething? Hope it's over quickly anyway.

Links to nice BFing clothes fleur? I'm struggling!

Cried on some more strangers at a cloth nappy meet this afternoon, and then on DH when he came home. Today is a write off!

ZylaB · 02/09/2015 21:08

Teetha hasn't helped us, bonjela and calpol did a bit, though had another tough afternoon. She hasn't worked out she can bite me yet, so hope that continues! I sort of hope she figures out crawling soon because she gets so frustrated in her front when she doesn't move...but I feel a bit like she's miles off it :(

Minion · 02/09/2015 21:08

R loves those teething powders. She gets all excited when she sees the packet and waits with her gob wide open.
Little weirdo.

Toilet duck burps! That's a sentence I thought I'd never hear!

ZylaB · 02/09/2015 21:09

Dulcet, big hugs!

WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 21:30

What's stressing you Dulcet? (Other than sheer exhaustion). Is it the feeding? It's crap. I just grit my teeth and try to power through the year! Part of me definitely thinks that you must enjoy your baby more if you bottle feed which is a bit sad. I think expectations have just changed so much these days. My biggest fear is that Micro isn't going to want to stop. She seems much more into it than Mini was.

Tried all the powders with Mini and didn't think they did anything. She did quite like them though. I know Ashton & Parsons has a lactose base though so wonder if they also contain dairy?

Fleurchamp · 02/09/2015 21:53

m.oasis-stores.com/the-georgia-dress/dresses/oasis/fcp-product/3270018523 this is my current favourite dulcet

I hope you're ok - we all have bad days, try to start tomorrow afresh. If it's any consolation DH is feeding S formula (4oz!!) as I have been feeding since 4pm and am utterly exhausted.

I am a complete failure.

wil no, I don't think dairy has made a difference. I have it up for 3 weeks and then gave him cows milk formula (desperate measures) which seems to have had no ill effects. He still screams just as much.

WilHarlot · 02/09/2015 22:00

Ooh that's nice.

Wheesht with the failure chat. You deserve the break I say. Well at least you've ruled out the dairy thing anyway and hopefully the paed can offer some solutions.

RPopz · 02/09/2015 22:05

I wrote a big post this morning but apparently it didn't post! Angry

Haha, min - miniP does that with calpol... He bloody loves the stuff.

Hugs Dulcet. Pick yourself up and start again tomorrow xxx

MiniP has been a whining nap dodging horror all day. Hope it's not a leap..... Also speed crawling everywhere. Also pulling himself up on everything. I'm bloody knackered!

We need a New Fred!

RPopz · 02/09/2015 22:06

Omg Fleur I love that!!

Minion · 02/09/2015 22:17

popz, leap 6?
It's a bastard I tell thee!
Think R went into a week early so should be out of it now or else she has 5 days to go.
As long as she is out of it by our hols...

Fuck, it was a looonnnnggggg ass month.

Minion · 02/09/2015 22:20

Ahhh posted too soon.

fleur you are not a failure.
You are just having a rough time. We've all been there. Different reasons but equally as shit.
That's what we are here for. Xx hugs
(don't get the unmumsnetty hug thing so you have to have the real minion hug I'm afraid)

LaLaLaaaa · 02/09/2015 22:58

Hugs to everyone needing one - you're not a failure fleur and dulcet its not a sin to feel overwhelmed and shit and cry.

My child hasn't slept since 4pm and I've just swaddled him in desperation. He melted down spectacularly earlier for no apparent reason. I just had to hold him while he screamed.

Shall we write off today and look forward to a new day tomorrow?
