La get thee to a HV or GP and tell them it's not fecking colic. I can't see the nappy, is it mucousy? Crying when flat on back could be a sign of reflux. Greenish poos could be normal, could have a bug, could be food allergy. Both could be caused by your letdown/oversupply. Also could maybe be something to do with the antibiotics he was on? Any nappy rash which could be thrush? You could try a probiotic powder. But really better to get advice from doctor. Many babies hate lying on their backs and it's normal that he'd sleep better on you. But explosive poos are normally a sign of something. Ours stopped completely when the dairy cleared her system -so it's just about finding what's causing it with B.

Fleur usually bf babies cluster feed at some point until they get older - normally the evenings. Does S? If in doubt, I offer boob and then if she isn't feeding well I would assume it's tiredness instead.

Fleurchamp · 21/08/2015 09:52

wil yeah, he does. I'm not sure if I do it right but I feed him, burp him. Lay him down - not on me, on DH if he's around and wait to see if he starts sucking, chewing hands etc.

When he's yelling (and doing the leg thing, like B la) it's so hard to know whether he wants more boob or not and whether feeding him will compound the problem Confused

LaLaLaaaa · 21/08/2015 10:30

I agree wil if it were colic he'd be crying more and if it were reflux it would be all the time.

During the night he's fine - feeds and sleeps well, it seems to kick off early morning and then prevents him sleeping properly throughout the day. Have got him to sleep but you can see his little tummy tightening and his legs coming up now and then. Got doctors appointment this morning. Spoke to HV and she agreed it's not colic.

Poor little mite - I wonder if antibiotics are behind it as it started after our hospital stay.

Meanwhile dh is in bed sleeping while I'm downstairs minding the sleeping baby. Yes, after doing the night feeds. See - he can be rubbish too! Of course it was me who suggested doctor and phoned doctor. God forbid dh would ever take the cats to vet or child to doctor.

Fleur I know the scenario you mean. They scream, then make hunger cues so you put them to boob then they pull away and scream.

Definitely tired! If you have a dummy that usually helps me to get B over the suckiness of wanting to feed when too tired. It is so hard though. And of course if I leave dh to watch him once he's down I always come back to dh holding a wide awake baby, saying 'he's hungry he's chewing his hands'.

Sigh...

Anyone who hasn't looked yet - have a look at Facebook, we have a new grads grads (grads?) baby !

Reflux doesn't have to be all the time. Think of an adult with heartburn - some things they eat make it worse or maybe some things they do. It can be a build up of stuff. Sounds like he's having tummy cramps though which is what Micro used to have. If it started after hospital it could definitely be down to ABs or to being ill though.

Cymraes17 · 21/08/2015 10:45

Wow, viroids are having a really tough time. Not commented for a while, been busy, had DD1,DS and my birthday whent to MiL in Cardiff for a long weekend, DCs 1,2&3 are still down in cardiff with Nain.
Fleur, baby B (8 weeks) cluster feeds from 6 ish to 10 every night (and then sleeps all night untill 6,7 or 8 depending on last feed, not boasting but very proud of her and soo glad i get to sleep)
Being a Mam is a difficult job, and support from DH/DP is a must. Working together as a unit. At the moment DH is being lovely and we are getting things done together and making joint decisions. We do have disagreements, where I point out how he could do more to help, tell him how to go about it, and he promises to help. Then we have the same chat again in a few months! but somehow manage to overcome. He belives in happy wife, happy life!

Fleurchamp · 21/08/2015 11:05

la S's symptoms are very similar and S was on antibiotics early on for his finger. I do wonder if it's linked.

DulcetMoans · 21/08/2015 11:09

Colic does seem to be a easy catch all for an upset baby, prevents the healthcare professionals looking into the potential the cause. Hope you both get answers and support soon la and fleur. So hard to watch them struggle and not know why! Hope the oesteopath can help fleur!

Bad news on the dickish DP/DHs. As if this isn't hard enough! They will struggle to understand if they don't have to do it all day on their own. We need a group day out where the menfolk are on duty! But can't do that with boobs...

It's my big 30 today. Planned nothing because baby. Going to bank to open him an account instead. Rock and roll! (I think I'm ok with it. Probably.)

ZylaB · 21/08/2015 11:23

Aww happy birthday dulcet!!!

Well H went in crèche at the gym for an hour and a half while I did my class and got showered etc, she was fine! Sitting in a lady's knee when I left, same when I cam back but in a different place, happily watching the bigger kids. She'd had a nappy change and half a bottle of milk too and is now fast asleep in her car seat. So ive booked her in for Monday and Friday next week hehehe! I ache though, well my shoulders do, was a boxing/fighting type exercise class, I may fall over later lol.

Fleurchamp · 21/08/2015 11:27

Happy birthday dulcet Grin

LaLaLaaaa · 21/08/2015 11:37

Happy birthday dulcet!!! Hope you do something nice as well as the bank!

Dh still in bed as we left for doctors. Late of course because I had to get him changed 4 times because he kept spurting poo out his bum over every new nappy. Confused Definitely diarrhoea.

In Dr waiting room, appointment was 20 mins ago and B is farting away loudly to himself in his sleep.

Happy Birthday Dulcet x

I'll catch up in a bit with everyone properly but I'm about to have a humongous nap as I've pretty much dumped my children on my parents for the day. I also have to go out (literally being forced by friends and OH who will all be extremely pissed off if I don't go out as I never get time to myself) tonight with my friends and I don't really want to but I'm guessing it may help with the PND. And I have a nice new outfit so what the hell!

Cymraes17 · 21/08/2015 12:13

Happy birthday Dulcet! So far I find 30 isnt that scary, but its only been a few days! Hope you at least get a meal where you dont have to make it, tidy after or have baby on you while youre eating.
La, your B is having quite a time by the sounds of it. Hope you get some answers and something to soothe him, not nice seeing your child unwell and not knowing how to make it better.
Pixie, enjoy your 'me time', make the most of it's a rare thing. Im glad your parents can help you and gx the ADs do their job and get you back to you.
Zyla I wish I had your willpower to go out ond sort my weight out. I know that i need to, but keep finding excuses.

WilHarlot · 21/08/2015 13:21

Happy Birthday Cym and Dulcet you young things! Get a takeaway and make DH hold the baby as a birthday treat!

Mm antibiotics can cause temporary lactose intolerance among other things. Hope you have some answers or a plan of action by now anyway La. We're off to the doctors also as C has a dodgy toe.

Enjoy your night out Pixie!

Anyone else's 6 month or older baby not up on their knees yet?

Pisghetti · 21/08/2015 14:22

B is nowhere near it but she is only just 5 months Wil. I don't think my son got up on his knees until he was nearer about 9 months though? I know he definitely couldn't sit unsupported at 6 months. He was a bit slower with motor development and ahead with verbal. It all evens out eventually though. Is there a chance she might be slower to use her lower body because of her earlier issues?

DP in bed as B decided nighttime was playtime. Yawn! She's been a grumpy moo and only napped for about 10 mins (as usual) so we thought she might fall asleep in bed with him. No such luck so I took her away and she's been conked out on the conservatory floor for about 40mins! So that's the trick - lie her down somewhere cold and uncomfortable Confused she's just stirring now but seems happy enough to play with her feet.

TBH La all B's poos look like that! I block feed because they went bright green for a while and the block feeding seemed to help. Now they're a bit gravyish... She's a grunty baby too. She used to do it a lot when she was younger then it stopped but she's started again in the last couple of days. It sounds like she's straining but it's not quite her poo face she pulls so I don't think its that. It's so much easier when they get bigger and can tell you what's up!!

Fleurchamp · 21/08/2015 14:24

S enjoyed the cranial osteopath Grin he is happily snoring away! He let out some tremendous farts too.

Really strange though - the osteopath also did it to me. My back feels great. She gave me some exercises to do for my non existent stomach muscles and to help my poor back Smile

I shall report further once S wakes up to see if it has eased him poor tummy.

GX little B is ok la

Pisghetti · 21/08/2015 14:25

Oh and happy birthday Dulcet! Penblwydd Hapus Cym!

Cymraes17 · 21/08/2015 14:36

Diolch Pis!

RPopz · 21/08/2015 14:56

Glad it seems to have helped Fleur! I've heard amazing things about cranial osteopathy - my friend's auntie does it Smile

How'd you get on at the Dr La? I think abx could def have caused the diarrhoea. Perhaps they can prescribe a probiotic? Though I think the best thing would be to just keep boobing... if that's what it is anyway. Have you tried putting him to sleep on his stomach to see if that helps?

Happy birthday Dulcet! You've just reminded me that we still haven't opened mini a bank account.... DH's grandad is always giving us random tenners for him. Though I have my suspicions that Mr P pockets most of them. Angry

RPopz · 21/08/2015 14:58

Enjoy your your free day and night out pixie - sounds like just what you need! Smile (Envy )

WilHarlot · 21/08/2015 15:05

MrWil does that with Mini's money too. I am going to open a new account for her and one for Micro so he can't!

Great news Fleur, really eager to know if it helps any.

RPopz · 21/08/2015 16:17

Oh. Kinda relieved to know its not just him!

Minipopz has been napping for two hours!!?! WTAF! I've actually been quite productive after the initial "OMG he's clearly seriously ill/ dead" phase.... I'm blatantly going to pay for this later!!

WilHarlot · 21/08/2015 16:22

Forgot to say thanks Pis. That's ok then. Mini was quick to move so wasn't sure what was normal. Most people say her earlier problems shouldn't affect development of motor skills which I find weird.

WilHarlot · 21/08/2015 16:24

I got that this morning Popz. Had to wake her after 2 1/2 hours! Hasn't improved her mood any this afternoon Hmm .

RPopz · 21/08/2015 16:30

I'm not waking him! Though kind of at a loose end now... haha!

Forgot to say wil - mini is up on his knees rocking and roly polying everywhere but he can't sit unaided. He was miles ahead of his little friend J who is a month older... until J learned to roll over and back again, sit unaided and crawl - all in one week!! I think they just do things in their own sweet time.

ZylaB · 21/08/2015 16:50

wil H can sit unaided but needs someone to catch her when she forgets and falls over! She's not on her knees at all though, the last couple of days she's shown an interest in trying to crawl but doesn't even push herself up, she just rolls onto her front and flaps her legs then gets frustrated hehe, but she can sit...so they all do it in different orders :)
