Get stuck into that wine Min!

That sounds heavenly Ness. I know what you mean about bfing. I moan about it but it has its uses and think I'll be sad to stop this time as it'll be my last. Both MiniWil and I were so ready to stop last time though.

Right sorry to be so thick about this but I need more BLW advice. Gave her a strip of chicken to suck on which she went crazy for (thigh, not breast). But she started to suck really hard and it nearly disappeared in her mouth - surely this will choke her? She can't eat an actual piece of meat with no teeth can she? I freaked out and took it off her - she was displeased.

WilHarlot · 25/07/2015 20:48

Not a pfb thing Popz. Might be a mental thing though...

RPopz · 25/07/2015 20:52

Their gums are pretty hard wil - minipopz "chews" food. Chicken is a bit tricky because it goes stringy but mince/ meatballs works well. MiniP eats those like an apple. If it's too big to swallow they should spit it out. It's a bit nerve wracking while they get the hang of their gag reflex though, I get that x

RPopz · 25/07/2015 20:54

Will try and find the bit about it in my book when I get a mo.

WilHarlot · 25/07/2015 20:56

Ok so maybe lay off the chicken? I suck at making meatballs. They always fall apart.

Might go to bed just out of boredom.

RPopz · 25/07/2015 20:59

MiniPs had some cubed chicken breast. He mostly just sucked it and threw most of it on the floor as I recall.... Hmm

PixieChops · 25/07/2015 21:03

Thanks Minion, hopefully it's just a phase or teething and won't last forever.
We went to a farm today which was fun, ended up spending £20 to get in and we left after 2 hours because DDneeded a nap and won't sleep in her pushchair. Which was really ideal and one of the most expensive trips ever.

teejayem · 25/07/2015 21:15

Wine for you min

popz he decided a couple of weeks ago that the poddlepod is not worthy of his sleep, he just screams blue murder when I put him in it. However! Mr tee used some kind of sorcery this morning and got him to nap for an hour in the Snuzpod just with a blanket (thus how we managed to have experimental post birth sex) so I might get him to strap it back onto the bed and have a go at transplanting him into it after his last feed. It's a good week to try to stuff as Mr tee is off for the next six days so I can express him some more milk and he can take some of the graveyard shift. plus I won't feel bad about keeping him awake while we experiment.
The thought of me leaving TT with anyone fills me with a kind of panic I've never experienced! Even my mum... And I've got to bite the bullet and do just that on Wednesday as I'm having root canal. :( eek.

I kind of want a growling baby.mine alternates between scream, gulp and start.

Fx J feels a bit better ness

teejayem · 25/07/2015 21:16

That should be shart. Not start.

WilHarlot · 25/07/2015 21:35

Maybe she would spit it out then.

MiniWil never used to sleep in her pushchair Pixie and then one day she just started to as long as I went on a walk for ten minutes or so. So don't give up the faith! Would she let you carry her in a toddler carrier?

JuniDD · 25/07/2015 21:38

Wil babyj rips everything into tiny shards so that's how she eats meat.

Zyla, there are three ways of getting baby on to your back; hip scoot, Santa toss and superman. Hip scoot is easiest with an ssc. I sound like a cult member, don't I?

Been out to a bbq where everyone had a "go" with babyj which she handled well but has been a bit screamy since getting home. I am so tired and she is just not there yet. MrJ asleep of course.

He'll be grand with your mum Tee. Root canal wasn't as bad as I expected either.

ZylaB · 25/07/2015 22:11

Haha juni a bit yes! I watched the sheffield sling library lady on YouTube with a connecta, she puts baby in on the front, holds the arms up and slides baby around to the back, is that the hip scoot?? Though I so want to know how the others work now with names like that!!

RPopz · 25/07/2015 22:23

That's a hip scoot zy.

P.S. - I totes know that lady. #claimtofame Grin

WilHarlot · 25/07/2015 22:28

With her hands or mouth Juni?

People whose babies sleep on their fronts - I assume you don't keep turning them back?

JuniDD · 25/07/2015 22:44

Her hands, like a cavebaby.
She sleeps on her front now, won't settle on her back. Much easier for the shush-pat too.

I do the hip scoot from my hip but I guess that counts!

Does anyone else's DP let the baby play with non baby stuff then act like you're unreasonable for saying no? She's currently wielding a giant bubble wand and if she works it loose it'll be hell. But I'm the meanie for taking it off her. And will, clean up no doubt. Yes, she's still up. Path of least resistance...

J is snoozing, we've only had one wake so far, so he's either doing well, or is waiting until we're asleep before waking us up! Hmm

Good work on the napping Tee, hope you've managed a ninja-snuzpod shifting! You'll probably be so relaxed having some baby-free time that the root canal will be a lovely experience - right?

Glad J is not the only one growling - weird babies!

Re: weaning, we've been wanting to stop the BFing for a while, mainly because he has 8 teeth already (yes, that's EIGHT teeth Shock) and as the top four get longer he getting more nibbly, but also coz I'm away for 3 nights next week and he's been refusing the bottle for months, so I've been getting worried about how DH was going to cope.
We night weaned him last month as he's been eating like a horse in the daytime, and that seemed to hit my supply a bit, and after a very unsettled night we tried him again with the bottle and he snatched it up, so I just thought, right that's it then, and went cold turkey! So boobs have suffered a bit going from 3 feeds to 0, but worth it to get it done!
Sleeping isn't an issue coz we don't feed to sleep (we use the dummy - I don't know how the heck people get babies to sleep without one, so I have no clue how we'll ever wean him off that!) Grin

J has always found chicken hard, mainly I think because he does have teeth, so he gets these big bits breaking off in his mouth which he can't work out how to swallow Confused I think a lot of babies will just smush it up to get the flavour, they do say it's a good BLW food.

Poor you Min Confused Hope the wine has helped??

WilHarlot · 26/07/2015 00:25

Oh. Micro has no coordination to do that.

I feel really sick. Scared I have caught the spewy bug. I have a bit of a fear of puking.

Watch out for mastitis Ness stopping that fast. Pump if it gets too uncomfy.

Minion · 26/07/2015 03:51

Awake
And now being kept awake by the kid snoring away next to me .
I'd go to sleep except she has fallen asleep on her front and will have a Bitch fit when she wakes

Nessalina · 26/07/2015 04:25

Arg I hate that Confused Why fall asleep on your front if you're going to think the world has turned upside down and panic when you wake up??

J has just had a sniffly dummy wail. Again. Hmm

Wil - thanks, i have been, though it's really hard to strike the balance between pumping enough so it doesn't hurt, and not so much that your boobs think all is still milky. The first day I think I got about a pint off Grin They fucking killed by day 3, and I thought I had mastitis actually, but Dr Goofle told me that engorgement when you stop can make you run a low fever and feel a bit shite. It's hard to tell the difference when your boobs feel full of hot marbles Confused
Any who. They're a bit tender still, but the full feeling has gone now, thank god.

Sorry, I'm very waffley today Grin

WilHarlot · 26/07/2015 08:07

That'a good if they're feeling a bit better.

Viroids I cannot sleep at all since moving Micro to her own room. I've been keeping my door open but I'm such a light sleeper and hear every little noise. Plus Mini has been waking up. I'd be surprised if I got more than an hour in total. Am I going to need to get an angelcare for peace of mind?

cookielove · 26/07/2015 09:21

E went onto his tummy at about 4 months he went from waking up every 30 minutes to sleeping for 7 hrs I was Shock we started to use the monitor from the next night, we stopped the monitor (the breathing bit) about three weeks after he went into his big cot as he kept moving to far off of it, he now sleeps mostly on his tummy, and side I occasionally find him on his back which is annoying as why couldn't he sleep like that when I wanted him to.

E also goes to bed awake and self settles, this is for both naps and bedtime, I had to teach him how to self settle and now he is a pro!

RPopz · 26/07/2015 09:58

Minipopz has slept on his tummy since he learnt how to roll over. I did go through a phase of going up and turning him everytime.... Grin But I'm over that now. I think its ok once they can lift their own head?

Might be worth it for a decent night sleep Wil!! Have you got a monitor at all?

Another late night for us last night.... Apparently miniP has grown wise to the stealth transfer. And screamed his head off everytime I put him in his cot... I don't think the travel cot mattress is supportive enough for him. Might have to contemplate putting him in his big boy cot! Wah!

Ooh teeth are a bit of a game changer Ness! Mini hasn't got any yet but he's getting pretty nippy with the gums Shock Glad the boobs are ok Grin

RPopz · 26/07/2015 10:00

Hope you escape the bug Wil If it's any consolation... I've got a bit of a vom phobia too but when I had it, there wasn't really time to think about it... iyswim!

WilHarlot · 26/07/2015 10:23

I'm fine. Must have been random nausea, probably from being so tired.

Yeah we have a video monitor but because of the white noise I can't hear her breathing on it. God I wasn't this much of a worrier last time, what is wrong with me?! I'm going to buy one of those toys which only plays the noise when they wake up and maybe that'll solve that problem.
