I think that's the curse of parenthood compo - we don't get 'days off'! If anyone else is anything like me even when DH is home you're still 'the fount of all knowledge' and nothing can be done without asking me first - one day poor DS went to bed for his nap with no lunch because DH thought I would have told him to if he'd neede it ??? (not to mention he 'forgot' he had DS2 the other day and left him in sainsburys carpark while he did the shopping !)

Claire - nuts, but sensible at the same time. We're setting off for kent ant 6.30pm in the hope that the boys will sleep and it won't ruin the routine - it's a 5.30 hr journey though - not looking forward to it at all. Hope you have a good journey!

Marls - how'd the gro bag go?

kseaj · 22/12/2006 10:11

hi all

Not in the christmas mood either, looking forward to having dh around , I am v. lucky he is a great help.

We are off to Milton Keynes early christmas day, by then the roads should be quite.

Ds slept most of yesterday he only had 3 feeds, think it must of been the jabs.

Coriander73 · 22/12/2006 11:40

Morning ladies...

Well, we managed to get out of Ipswich last night - police everywhere...complete chaos what with late shopping too! Woke up to hear that they've charged someone so am hoping they have the right man as it's been rather horrible having it all so close to home. We're now up in Staffordshire with in-laws. Journey wasn't too bad, much fog & the odd choaking fit from Jack but we got there in one piece. Does anyone else's lo avoid Muumy like the plague when Grandma is around?!! DD doesn't want to know me at all...Grandma this & Grandma that...still am sure I must have been the same too - my Grandma was just fantastic ( & still is).

compo, Jack downed 7oz last night at 10pm then I still had to feed him at midnight, 2 , 4 & 6...what with all the choaking I slept a total of 3 hours so feeling it today. Like you say must be a growth spurt..? Am also not really into Christmas much to DH's annoyance. I just prefer other times of the year tbh. I think it'll change having children, as I can see already this year how excited DD seems to be!

boozybird, no sex here...& I forgot the condoms (sorry if tmi, but after what we've been discussing this past year!!!) at home (obviously I could get to a chemist but would rather not bother!) to which DH replied just as well, we don't want anymore September babies!!! Since our first time 3 weeks ago I have just lost the urge again...think it's tiredness more than anything & not really happy for him to stare at the scar, saggy tum, stretchmarks...need I go on??!!!

Liquid & Clairemow, safe journeys!!

compo · 22/12/2006 12:57

Hi Coriander - glad you got to your folks safe and sound. not loving this freezing cold foggy wqeather at all. Glad it's not just dd that's ravenous at the moment too!!
my ds is just the same with Grandma and Grandad (inlaws). For some reason it makes it worse cos my MIL drives me mad at the best of times and ds loving her so much and sometimes saying 'go away Mummy' when we seem them makes me feel embarassed in front of her iyswim. He's going to stay there for a week when he's almost 3 so I hope it all goes okay.
I don't think there will be any Xmas nookie for dh this year - last month's scare has put me right off

compo · 22/12/2006 12:59

p.s. Just got back from town - can't beleiv how manic everyone is getting. Dh has foolishly volunteered to do the food shopping in Asda tomorrow morning with ds - - he he he, rather him than me

cruisemum1 · 22/12/2006 20:10

hello all. So close to Christmas now and I too am feeling a bit 'bah humbug' about it all. dd is beside herself with excitement which make me feel guilty but i guess I am not alone. I am putting on a good act for her and I love to see her so excited but it's not as if we get a stress free day just because it is Xmas.
Clairmow -re sex and tears. I had 3rd degree with dd and it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. dh ws very gentle and I almost felt like a 16 year old virgin again!. This time round it is worse though even tho I had no damage. Good luck!
More later, ds has just woken up. grrrrr

Hi all, remember me? Sorry I haven't posted for so long but things have been pretty hectic. Georgia is now 15 weeks old and was 11 lb 8 at the last weigh in. She's absolutely amazing and has a fab sense of humour. She's trying very hard to sit up but doesn't seem too interested in rolling overjust yet and she's still sleeping through from around 9pm till about 8am. Unfortunately, she seems to be showing signs of teething already so I've stocked up on teething gel and Calpol!

I can't believe how much my life has changed over the past 3 months. My divorce is still going through and my ex is still being horrid but I'm feeling more distanced from the whole situation and am trying to keep myself busy going to Mum and toddler groups and spending time with friends and family. I am looking forward to Christmas, I love this time of year anyway and it's just so much more special this year.

I hope that you are all well and that you all have a great Christmas and New Year.

Mandaz

redz · 23/12/2006 11:40

Hi all

Just got back from my last minute shopping I left the house at 8am really thought I was the first person out but noooo got to Tesco and the car park was already full!! Anyway I survived and am back home nice and warm. DD fast asleep, Ive got flu and im worried she's caught it she's been coughing and sneezing although doesnt have a temperature im just gonna have to keep a close eye on her. I've had it for nearly 3 weeks and just cant shift it

Anyway im going to my mums tommorow for xmas so at least I dont have to do any cooking I'll just help her.

Dp has been in contact everyday since he left he really misses us, Ive just kind of adapted to him not being here I miss him but not as much as I thought I would. Dd keeps me too busy. Ive kind of seen whats it like to be a single parent and it is really hard but somehow you cope dont you? I would like to commend all single parents I think your amazing.

Anyway just incase I dont get to post before, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! To all of you who are travelling for xmas have a safe journey.
Im sure this Christmas will be the best ever with our new additions to the family.
Big hugs and kisses to you all from me and baby Kiyanexxxxxxxxxx

mabel1973 · 23/12/2006 11:51

Hi all
haven't managed to get on for a while.
We've had a plasterer in so been busy clearing up, plus xmas flower orders which I have dreaded doing, as the only free time I have is evenings to get them done, but finished yesterday, so that's a relief!
Hi Mandaz - glad to hear things are going well for you, sorry to hear your ex is still being nasty.
I was about to ask the same thing about teething. I thought it was too early, but Ds was 14 weeks yesterday and has been dribbling and eating his hand constantly and he had a slight temp yesterday. I can highly recommend Boots homeopathic teething powders, they do seem to work almost instantly,I found that teething gel just slides off the gums and because the pain is constnt I have always tried to use calpol as a` last resort. I have given DS a dose of powders this morning and he is definately happier. I can't feel or see anything yet, but I can't think what else it would be.
DS1 is still being a bit of a problem sleepwise....he is going to bed ok, but waking in the night and coming in to our bed. I know I should put him back in his own bed, but he gets hysterical and at 1am you just want the easiest option don't you.
Anyway, Idon't think I'll get on before xmas, so Merry Xmas to everyone - hope you have a good one!

compo · 23/12/2006 19:08

Redz - that's brilliant that you are managing so well without your dp. I know exactly what you mean about single mums - I take my hat off to you all
Great to hear from you Mandaz too
Mabel - have a great Christmas.

Well, we started the potty training today. 3 accidents and then before bed i plonked him on while dh was putting dd to bed and read him stories etc and he did a wee and a poo!!! I think he was quite bemused at just how excited I was

cruisemum1 · 23/12/2006 21:45

What on earth is going on?! . My ds went down at 7:15pm this evening and I haven't heard a peep since! Must be that Santa knows I have been a good girl and given me the present I asked for.... some time in the evenings to spend with dd and dh! Of course I don't know what the rest of the night holds in store but fingers crossed.
Merry Christmas all - feeling quite festive this evening!

compo · 24/12/2006 08:46

cruisemum1 · 25/12/2006 19:57

Hope your Christmas Day was wonderful. . dh bought me a Nissan Micra!

cruisemum1 · 27/12/2006 08:36

hi all, how was it?!

Marls001 · 27/12/2006 23:28

Welcome back Mandaz!! Great to hear from you & glad all is going well.

Mom & Dad in from Houston 'til Saturday. No arguments with Mom - not yet anyway

Jameson sleeping regularly from 11:30 pm to 6:15 am ... sometimes up at 4 am a few minutes, but settles down promptly.

As for DH & me, it's like we're dating; I'm fascinated by him. Who knew this marriage rebirth would happen in our late thirties ...

Hope all had wonderful Christmases. Any interesting plans for New Year's Eve? We'll just be home sipping cider by the fire ... since we feel one "late" night for the next 3 days!!

JingleBelle · 28/12/2006 18:42

Hi All,
Hope you had lovely Christmases - we're back home today from visiting families and while it was lovely to see them, it is nice to get back home with DS and get back to the three of us!

Hope all of you getting back to nookie found it not such a sore experience. We've only done it three times, but it's not as sore as I thought it would be.

Not glad in an evil way, but glad in a way of "oh, it could be that then" that some of you have mentioned teething. DS is drooling and putting fingers/fist/muslin/anything in mouth a lot but thought it could not be teething, as he hasn't anything showing (although can see teeth in gums and have been able to for weeks). Think I might need to stock up on teething granules (have heard they're much better than gel).

Really delighted for all of you whose LOs are going through the night, but anyone still with me and having lots of waking? I know I should be really glad that he goes down between 6.30pm and 7pm every night, but he then has to have medicine followed 20 mins later by feed at 10pm (due to reflux - medicine every 8 hours and 10pm, 6am, 2pm have found to be best), but then he's awake at ca. 1 or 2am for feed and then again at 4am or 5 am for good - for those of you with older LOs, please tell me that this will get better - I go back to work in 3 months and really want to hope that he will be sleeping better by then!

Anyway hope you all had lovely Christmases - congrats on the Nissan Micra Cruise - what a lovely DH you have.

cruisemum1 · 28/12/2006 21:54

marls - just one thing..... when fraser sleeps from 11:30 - 6:15am what is he doing between 7ish and 11ish? Do you put him to bed?

redz · 28/12/2006 22:02

Hi all

Hope you all had a lovely xmas. I had a lovely time with all the family and it was lovely watching dd take in all the excitement of the day.
Dp back tommorow cant wait to see him

DD just getting over a cold thank God for Calpol! Poor thing she was coughing and sneezing but still managing to give me a smile and a laugh but she's alot better now.

Anyway I will have to catch up with you all soon.

Hope you have a Happy New Year Everyone

compo · 29/12/2006 10:16

Hi everyone! We had a lovely Christmas. Potty training has gone much better than I expected and ds is now mostly using the toilet with about one accident a day. When we go out we've been putting him in those pants that go over real nappies but so far he's been okay.
Redz - that's great your dp comes home today, hope you have a lovely reunion
Cruisemum - I saw your other thread. Sorry to hear the evenings are still getting you down. Hopefully as your ds gets bigger it will all sort itself out but I know that's not much consolation at the moment.

MunkiBaby · 29/12/2006 10:55

good morning! i'm sure you will all get the email from the yahoo group, but just thought i'd let you all know here, as well. i've created a new photo album for all/any of us to post "September Baby's 1st Christmas" photos.

i've dropped a few there (plus a few to my normal album)...Please post a photo or few! Looking foward to seeing all the lovely babies!!!
