Hi Munki,
What is the yahoo group - is it something separate to this and can I join?
Compo - congrats on the potty training!

mabel1973 · 29/12/2006 13:32

hi all hope you all had good xmas's.
we did , the ds's got a ridiculous amount of presents. our best xmas present was a lie in on boxing day til 9.30am! the 1st lie in we've had in 2 years.
Having a bad day here thnough.ds1 is refusing to go down for a nap and ds2 has been miserable all day and feeding constantly. i have had to give in and give him some calpol as he seems so fed up and wont let me put him down

MunkiBaby · 29/12/2006 14:10

Hi everyone! Back from in-laws last night, it was so good to sleep in my own bed! DD has been sleeping in with grandparents (they have two rooms in one so to speak) so they'd been getting up with her during the night etc so it was a shock to have her cry out at 3am then come to us at 6 this morning!!!....on the plus side Jack has slept from 11pm through till 7 the past two nights - waking at 3.30 but I've just gone in & said to him it's bedtime (not that he understands what I'm saying I'm sure!) but he's then settled down without a feed!!!! Hopefully this is the proper breakthrough....

compo, great effort on the pt!!!!

Mabel, yes both children had too many presents I'm sure! Not from us but from other people...DD was rather overwhelmed by it all but did enjoy herself. Jack loves the baby mozart dvd...really chuckles to himself when he watches it I think DD loved the dressing up shoes & fairy wings best!!! I think next year when she's 3 will be better - in terms of her understanding etc etc.

I got my BFP on Jan 4th this year...can't believe it's nearly a year since.. Must update some pics on yahoo.

kseaj · 29/12/2006 23:12

hi all

Hope everyone had a good christmas, mine was a very busy one, and i have to admit that i am glad it is all over.

Ds is coughing yet again and has started to suck his thumb which i love to see.
This time last year i was waiting to see if i would get a BFP, how things have changed in 1 year, we have all been pg all given birth and now we have are lo's to look at

Ds is still sleeping in his basket are any of your lo's still doing this.

Marls001 · 30/12/2006 01:00

Cruisemum - Congrats on new car!! (Missed seeing that.) Claire's is Fraser ... we feed Jameson during the day on a 10-2-6 schedule; after 6pm feeding he's put in his baby swing & falls asleep there; we wake him at 10:30 pm for his last night feed (he's usually very fussy about this feed, so takes him 'til 11:30 to finish) - then put him back to sleep in his cot which is actually now in our closet - the only place DS1 won't hear him if he cries loudly.

Jinglebelle - I think that was you ... you're approved for the Yahoo site now!

Munki - Thanks for setting that album up! I have got to get on the ball & post recent photos.

Have been v. sick for past 2 days. Fever, nausea ... This is just about my first coherent moment since Thurs. morning.

cruisemum1 · 30/12/2006 09:20

marls - oops! For some reason Fraser and Jameson get muddled in my mind (must both sound scottish!) Ta for clarification.
Hope you feel better soon

kseaj · 30/12/2006 11:15

hi all

marls think that was me you approved, would love to post some pics on there but dont know how. I am going to ask for dh help hate to admit i am rubbish on pc's he loves the fact i have to ask him how to do things.

MunkiBaby · 30/12/2006 12:15

whoever coll1princess may be is the the newest member of the yahoo group. welcome to the site. cant wait to see all the new and updated pics! ((i have to admit, i can't believe how much of a baby freak i've become since having my first...i never gushed at or about babies before..but now, its all i can talk about. hehehe))

and much like kseaj's LO, my ds (14 weeks on monday)has discovered his left thumb! i agree, it is adorable. he doesnt quite suck on it, but chews on it more or less. and he cant quite make out his right thumb yet. possibly a lefty in the making?? i know its too early to tell!

fynn is also rolling over a little bit. im amazed that he seems to know to take his hand out of his mouth and put it against his side so he can roll over. i'm so in awe if him and how we learn sooo much sooo young! ok ok ok, i'll stop the rambling, .

ive been looking into the Bumbo seats for babies. anyone used one before? any of your own reviews of the product?

clairemow · 30/12/2006 19:19

Hey everyone,

Wow on the Nissan Micra!!!! I got a pair of slippers!!!!! But then, sadly, that's what I asked for. Should have been more ambitious clearly!!!!

Marls, sorry to hear you've been sick, I hope you feel better now.

Munkibaby, we don't have a bumbo, but I know lots of people like them - they're good for feeding once they start solids. Pretty limited shelf life though, only a couple of months, so pretty pricey I reckon. See if you can get a second hand one.

Cruise, congrats on your DS's sleeping the other night from bedtime - long may it continue! BTW Fraser was a definite Scottish choice for us - DH is a Scot by heritage (although he grew up in Watford!), and I really like Scottish names.

The 5 am start was brilliant!! Loaded both boys in the car, F hardly opened his eyes, and L woke up, sang a bit for a while and then went back to sleep. We arrived in time for breakfast at 7.15 so perfect.

While we were away, DS1 was sharing with his cousin (also 2). Interesting settling them at night.... eventually (after extra stories downstairs and attempts at bribery) resorted to a broom handle to keep the door shut and basically controlled crying with two of them yelling away - only took 10 mins though... the next night, DS1 said when they got into bed "and now we come back downstairs and Auntie C read me another story" - oh I don't think so... and his cousin gets up around 5.30 (eugh!), but luckily DS1 either slept through her getting up, or I hopped in her bed and he then stayed in his and went back to sleep. Phew.

Fraser's still doing really well. I haven't fed him myself for 3 days now (apart from the odd sneaky bit when I'm too sore...), and after 2 days of agony, the boobs are calming down. Now I feel a bit nostalgic and sad, but tonight I was able to feed him his bottle after his bath, and get him down in time to read DS1 his bedtime stories. So it has made a big difference - 10 mins instead of an hour . He's been sleeping through from 7pm to at least 7 am with a dream feed for a few weeks now, and we're contemplating dropping the dream feed, as he only drank 1 1/2 ounces last night. Just a bit afraid of going back to 4 am wake up calls... Might give it a go tonight and see what happens.. Isn't there a growth spurt at 16 odd weeks?

mabel1973 · 30/12/2006 20:14

Hi all,
I am sure now that Ds2 is teething, he is dribbling constantly, although the feeding has calmed down from yesterday. Unfortunately he woke at 5.10am this morning - that's the earliest he's woken in about a month, as he has been doing 7 til 7. I am hoping that it was just a blip this morning and not a sign of hunger, as I don't want to start thinking about weaning just yet. I suppose I am concerned that he is so big for his age, that milk might not sustain him for much longer. He is in 6-9 month clothes now and we measured him a couple of days ago and he is an inch taller than DS1 was. I was hoping to keep going til at least 5 months. What's everyone else planning re:weaning?
We took both DS's swimming this morning, it was DS2's 1st time and he loved it, sitting in his water seat, watching DS2 doggy paddling in his water wings!
Munki - RE: the bumbo, I have to say I am not sure if they are worth the money, Ds1 wasn't keen on sitting in it for more than a few minutes (although I did find it useful to take on holiday with us, to feed him in) and DS2 seems to be the same, in fact most people I know that have them have said the same. I think because they are unable to move their legs they feel a bit trapped and just get fed up quickly, although one friend was convinced it helped her daughter to sit up early at 4 months.
Talking of baby gadgets, we are getting the door bouncer out of the attic tommorow, as I think DS2 is ready for it, as he loves to be standing up, just slightly concerned that DS1 will start pinging him all over the place!!!

kseaj · 30/12/2006 20:31

hi

iam the coll1princess on yahoo it would not let mo log in has kseaj said somebody else using that name. sorry for confusing you all.

Myrtle1 · 30/12/2006 20:32

Mabel - I think my DS is teething too. he has been dribbling loads for about 3 weeks now, always eating his fist and his bottom gum feels a bit ridged and not smooth like the rest of the gums. He's also getting stinky nappies and wind. We wondered if it was a tummy bug and phoned HV as he had a few massive nappies over christmas but now he is pooing after almost every feed but only very small and smelly ones. HV says just keep breastfeeding and he should get over it, if it is that.
We had a good Christmas and are back home now after all our travels. We got a webcam for xmas and have signed up to Skype so now we can speak to friends and parents online and see a live video of each other. (The grandparents love it!)
Must go as my cat is sitting on the keyboard demanding a cuddle
Redz - Hope your Christmas was good. Is your DP back home now?

Coriander73 · 30/12/2006 22:13

Re teething...I think Jack might be too! This morning he just wailed & wailed..never heard him like that before & I just couldn't comfort him. He seems to be putting his fists in his mouth with great aplomb & just is craggy, not his happy self at all. So much so that he had calpol twice today as I just figured he must be in pain given the squeals. I also gave him some teething granules - we sore by them with DD - they went down ok & so far he's remained asleep although let's see what happens tonight! DD cut her first one at 3.4 months so maybe he could be following suit?

DH has just walked past & asked me if I'm telling you all about his fantastic dinner he made tonight!!! I said no but I will if you wont me too...so there you are...it was bloody delic...a Jaime Oliver Morrocan lamb from his new book...yum!

MunkiBaby · 31/12/2006 10:03

Good morning, Mums. Thanks for all the advice/input on the Bumbo. Sounds like tis going to be hit or miss, really. But i'm a bit curious about the comment "short life span"... Clairemow,is it the material you are talking about or the interest/usage from the baby? I think i'll have a peek on ebay first, as they are usually new, around 29-31 quid. yes, pricey for something that may or may not be used enough to justify the price.

My DH is desperate to hook up the baby bouncer in the doorway, as well. im still a little nervous about ds being ready even though he can hold up his head pretty solidly now. and not to mention, he does like to put the weight on his legs...maybe i should bite the bullet on this and let dh give it a go...
MABEL, let me know how it goes with yours! ((and i know its a scary thought about your ds1 flinging the baby around in it, but i cant help but envision a home movie in the making for YBF or something like that. heheheh))

I finally getting a positive/happy repsonse during bathtime! i bought a couple tiny squirty bath ducks just for something colourful for ds to look at and last night, i filled one with water, got his attention, and squirted it a few times at his belly and i got the best laugh so far from doing that. but of course, he quickly became unammused after doing it a few times. hehehehe. oh well. it was cute while it lasted.

clairemow · 31/12/2006 12:00

hi Munkibaby, yes, I meant the usage from the baby not the material it's made of. Once the babies want to move a bit more I think the Bumbos are rather restrictive. Although still great for feeding.

cruisemum1 · 31/12/2006 14:26

interesting to hear of teething troubles/symptoms. ds defo not been his usual self yesterday and today. seems sleepy and doesn't know what he wants (me neither!)Has beem feeding more but that cd be cos i am offering breast to calm him.. . he has let out a couple of loud yelps/squeals which could be pain but then this could be tummy pain cos he is full . He dooesn't seem to have any evidence of teethbuds so maybe it's a 16 wk growth spurt??? Your opinions gratefully received!

RMW2 · 31/12/2006 15:19

hi there i have a 15 week old baby and she has just got out of hospital after contracting broncholitis, she is better now but the week long stay in hospital has turned everything upside down, i was really enjoying being a new mum but now am just so tired all the time, she was feeding every hour in hospital as she could only manage to go for 2 mins at a time and so fed every hour for a week after coming home i am breastfeeding so was exhausted and am sure my milk supply went down i now give her a bottle of formula at night so i can rest , i do the bath bottle bed thing at 7 but more often than not she wants to be awake till 10ish, then does about 6 hours wakes for a feed then sleeps another 3 is this good for a baby of her age? since introducing the formula her poos have gone green is this normal? we used to go walking every day but she has been had to be kept in the warm, hopefully things will get better once we get back to normal and get out and about again, look forward to hearing from other mums about there experiences

compo · 31/12/2006 15:20

Hi everyone
Yes another 15/16 week baby not happy here too.... Sucking hands all the time, crying when put down, only napping in the day when she's got a bottle in her mouth!!
we had friends round for a sort of New Year's Eve buffet lunch - all of the childless variety so goodness knows what they thought of dd screaming her head off and us asking ds if he needed the loo every half an hour
Re. the bumbo - we got one for ds. he loved it and it was great for weaning. Put dd in it yesterday and she was only happy for about 10 minutes. She looks almost too big for it as well!! Still finding girl babies much harder than boy babies, anyone else think this or is my dd and ds a one off?!

compo · 31/12/2006 15:24

Hi RMW2 - you poor thing, so sorry to hear about your little one's illness and stay in hospital The green poo is completely normal for a formul fed baby so don't worry about that. As for a routine I wouldn't worry too much (easier said than done I know!). My dd still doesn't really nap in her cot in the day, I think ds didn't really start having a lunchtime nap in his cot until he was weaned and on 3 meals a day. know what you mean about getting back to normal and going for a walk everyday. Tbh I'm counting down the days until Spring comes and I actually feel like going for a walk to get my dd to nap.
(sorry should have said at the beginning I have a 2 year ds and dd is 16 weeks on Thursdya)

Coriander73 · 31/12/2006 15:44

compo, Jack is much easier than DD ever was!!!!

compo · 31/12/2006 15:52

I think as girls we are entitled to say we are much more difficult to please than boys

compo · 31/12/2006 15:55

Just been on the phone to my dsis and she said she started both her ds's on baby rice at 16 weeks cos they were fussing like dd is at the moment. I was going to try for 20 weeks but now not sure. What do people think?

cruisemum1 · 31/12/2006 17:07

compo - thats odd. i was just gonna post as my ds of 16 weeks is feeding more today/yesterday, a bit grumpy, sleepier than usual, won't sleep anywhere 'cept at boob in my arms (not at nite tho - phew ) and ib general, out of sorts. growth spurt/teething? who knows!? Seems like a lot of our lo's are like it at the mo. very odd

Coriander73 · 31/12/2006 19:14

When did you wean DS compo?
