We've no time for JSing. We're battling green nappies, sleepless nights, x-box playing men and trying to hide our sling addictions. Fuck it, let's do a runner on a golf cart.

A lovely thread for all the JS Grad Grads to chat feeding, sleep and post-birth STUFF.

Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... wink

pis, I back carry in the SSC but working up to using the woven more. It's a lot of fabric in the heat and would like someone else in the house while I practise.
Just tried a Poppins hip carry with my new 4 which is lush. Anything longer probably too much tail though.
mini a ring sling would be perfect for your post-section tummy, or maybe a mei tai. I used the Moby from week 2 but my wound behaved itself.

Hope everyone healing is getting on ok today. Just realised I haven't had fally-outy-cervix sensations for a couple of days. Nice!

WilHarlot · 23/06/2015 19:51

You're such a pro Juni. I still get a sore back if I wear the carrier too long. Clearly not doing it right.

So knackered, must be bedtime.

Minion · 23/06/2015 20:09

Me too wil! Though I do love the attention we get when I wear her.

minimooo · 23/06/2015 21:24

Ah brill, thanks juni I'll have a Google tomorrow and see if I can get one Smile

tee Ignore your hv - she sounds like she has no clue what she's talking about. I feel angry on your behalf Angry

Pisghetti · 24/06/2015 00:34

Tee she's an unbelievable moron - as Ness said it's quite simple maths!

The lady who runs our sling library is also a baby wearing consultant. I'm thinking of booking an hour with her when B is old enough for back carries. There does seem to be a 'leap of faith' moment when I've seen others setting up back carries which frightens me!

I love my mei tai. To get her high enough I tie it around my lower rib cage rather than my waist so it should be well clear of the CS wound. I'd definitely recommend going to a sling library if you can to try out a couple of options before you buy though. I really didn't get on with a ring sling but I know others swear by them.

Well done on week 3 Zyla Smile

teejayem · 24/06/2015 02:46

She was a moron. Such a shame because I think HVs have for potential to do so much good, tbh she lost all credibility with us when she turned up on Monday claiming she had spoken to me and agreed an appointment. She actually had a completely wrong phone number for us yet was adamant she'd had a conversation with me last week, and got a bit funny when I told her it wasn't convenient and wouldn't let her in. Now I know I was a bit mental and overwhelmed then but I'd have recalled something like that. Hmm. She also chucked a bit of. Spanner in the works as my GP is not THAT local to us, it it's the same one I've been going to since I was a teenager so have a really decent relationship with them there. I got a call from them about an hour after she'd left to say that she had rung them to ask if I would be covered by them as we are out of catchment, and of course we aren't, so we spent a good two hours dicking about registering all of us at a new Drs.

So anyway it's 2.40 and I'm covered in wee. It was a decision to change TTs nappy quietly before Mr tee woke up that did it - he's back at work today and I am a bit Confused about it, and want him to have a good sleep beforehand. Unfortunately it backfired a bit so although TT is quiet, I'm going to have try and put new jamas on him after this feed. Yay!

WilHarlot · 24/06/2015 07:43

What a cowbag Tee that's so annoying.

Hope you survive today without Mr Tee. I have had the worst night's sleep and have such a busy day. Think I'll be suggesting take away for tea tonight.

Minion · 24/06/2015 08:40

Still no better with miniwil? Poor you (and her obviously, but yes, poor you). Fingers crossed she'll be better for you soon.
Solidarity sister.

We have a tooth. Well, it's not fully popped out but you can see it just below the skin, she was using me as her teether yesterday and I said ouch etc, thought she was going to get her top 2 first but it's where it hurt when she bit me.
Don't think the rest will be too far behind.

Pisghetti · 24/06/2015 10:44

I'm pretty sure you can request another HV Tee. Shame you had to change GP first Angry they have their uses and you want someone who's professionalism and advice you trust.

Brew Wil

I'm going to brave a trip into work today with BabyPis. Not looking forward to it and I'm not even sure why. I've emailed a couple of people I know so hopefully there'll be a couple of friendly faces in reception and I'll have discharged my duty without having to traipse from office to office.

Pisghetti · 24/06/2015 10:45

Yay for a new tooth Min Smile

WilHarlot · 24/06/2015 15:58

How did it go Pis?

Last night was a mixture of micro waking and me having a killer headache. Must make more of an effort to drink more. Survived meeting though and am now on couch watching cartoons and so tired I'm virtually hallucinating Grin .

JuniDD · 24/06/2015 19:52

Drink drink drink wil. Sorry about the rubbish night, hope tonight is better. BabyJ is awake but in her cot. I am choosing not to watch her on the monitor...we'll see how that goes.

Ok, I am officially over hearing about how "tiny" my baby is! One day I'm going to reply, "...do you ever wonder, maybe your baby is FAT?!" She's DAINTY, not tiny. Poor kid, I had to put up with that shit until I was an adult and it starts early, doesn't it?

How was the trip to work pis?

tee you can request a new HV. My friend requested my mum when she had her third as all the others were mental. Plus my mum (who is an HV) was quite anxious about who I'd get because they're all mental. The theme is, HV's are a bit...mixed.

cookielove · 24/06/2015 20:26

We have some rather rubbish hv's one suggested controlled crying when E was barely 6 months I was Shock and the one at his 10 month assessment was scatty and flustered the whole time, it was a good thing we aren't worries otherwise we would have been in a right panic leaving Hmm

We had to change gp's my old one way brilliant my new one is shite!

ZylaB · 24/06/2015 20:50

When are they meant to have assessments?

WilHarlot · 24/06/2015 21:37

I think we get lots at the start then 3 month, 4 month, maybe 6 months? Then round the year mark I think. Probably different up here. I always end up with extra ones for one reason or another.

Tell them their babies are fat Juni, go on! Grin Grin Grin

ZylaB · 24/06/2015 22:00

I must ask them tomorrow then, we haven't had any checks..just weighing..

WilHarlot · 24/06/2015 22:04

They don't really do much tbh. Sometimes measure length and ask if they are doing certain things like tracking objects/responding to voice etc. And we get bookbug stuff and toothbrush/paste and possibly weaning advice - haven't actually looked in the bag Shock .

JuniDD · 24/06/2015 22:45

When we do the "ask the age" thing at singing I'll say " wow, he's very...large". WITH A HEAD TILT.

my child is refusing to sleep with added screaming. Sad Sad

teejayem · 24/06/2015 23:03

Just laughed out loud at your HV 'mental' comment juni. I really think it's a shame as they could be so valuable if they were maybe a bit more consistent.
Tiny tee has been positively angelic today, I took him out for the first time in my own (in the car!) only to my mum's mind, and he was brill until Mr tee got home and then screamed the house down. Mr tee got a bit out out and told me he felt left out because he can't provide the boob and can't ever settle him, so I ended up expressing some specifically for him to feed him with. Hmm

JuniDD · 24/06/2015 23:23

Plenty of time for the man to settle babies down the line, tee. (Am a bit full of bf fire tonight, mind you).

Well, she finally sleeps. I am on my iPad in the bathroom for ten mins to myself. Bet she's back up at 1am. Hey ho, see you then!

Pisghetti · 24/06/2015 23:33

It was fine - knew I was fretting over nothing! Lots of 'wow she's TINY' comments but as they didn't have babies with them I could call fat, I just had to smile and nod Grin

Braved a trip to ikea afterwards. I had the mei tai and she was sleeping really soundly so I got cocky and browsed.... Of course by the time I got to the till she had had enough and screamed her head off Hmm fun times!

Drink Wil! I always take a pint of water to bed but never drink it... Had a swig last night and it tasted funny. Checked the filter jug today and it had some algae around the edges vom vom

Made some home made pasties. God knows what possessed me. Started at half eight and I've only just eaten Shock

WilHarlot · 25/06/2015 05:09

Oh my God Pis that was ambitious. I have no energy for cooking. We got a chinese takeaway last night and micro is moaning lots and refusing to go back to sleep so I'm suspecting it had something in it I wasn't supposed to eat. Sigh.

How did your night go Juni? Weirdly lots of people tell me micro is big - which kind of just shows there's no actual logic to people's comments. Although she does have a bit of chub on her arms and legs.

WilHarlot · 25/06/2015 05:11

Tee MrWil sings to the baby and it sends her to sleep. Worth a try maybe.

teejayem · 25/06/2015 05:50

I think he's just in that newborn thing of boob poo sleep repeat, and doesn't really give a shit about anything else, mostly boob. I think Mr tee panics when he can't instantly stop him crying like I can with said boob, I can't believe he's taking it so personally!

Well, I paid for our peaceful day yesterday, I don't think we managed an unbroken hour last night. I am fooked. And I've got a plumber coming over at 8 so need to try and time it so TT is half settled and not boob clinging. I bloody hope we can nap today....

JuniDD · 25/06/2015 05:58

Babyj used to settle for her dad when he rocked her etc. Hope he chills out, you've got enough to worry about! Thanks Thanks

Babyj just woke up and finishing a feed. So six hours. I feel pretty good too. All to the good as I'm babysitting the crazy nephews tonight with her. Confused Confused
