A lovely thread for all the JS Grad Grads to chat feeding, sleep and post-birth STUFF.

Roll call please ladies and perhaps add the number of slings and buggies you have acquired at the time of posting... wink

Contraception round here is abstinence! But condoms when it happens. Better sort that out to save a row.

Sorry about the rough times min, hope the Dr can help. She only doesn't look at you cos she knows you're there and feels secure in that. Babyj is much more interested in other people than me!

Bit bored today. Already been shopping and it's too crap outside to go for a walk...baby happily yelling on my lap so at least she's happy!

WilHarlot · 01/06/2015 14:48

Min don't say that, in fact don't even think it. All babies at any group I've been to always look at anyone other than their own mother. They probably get bored of us!

You're doing great. If you're genuinely concerned about anything though, push to go back to the paediatrician. I have learned you have to be quite forceful with some HCPs and tell them what you want. Using the dummy to stop her crying is no different to me shoving my boob in Micro's gob or turning on the white noise. If both these fail I'm at a loss of what to do. Does she hold eye contact with you or MrMin when she wants to? Do you think you're ok from a PND point of view? (Totally not insinuating anything, just putting it out there as it can make you feel like you're not doing a good job).

We're failing at anything longer than a twenty minute nap today.

ZylaB · 01/06/2015 16:00

min looking at other people is showing an interest in the world, she's learning about new things secure in the know.edge that you're there for her, please don't worry about that. At swimming I'm lucky if H looks at me once, there's that much else she'd rather look at. She knows you're there :). Sorry you're having a tough time, you're doing great for her.

Hello :)

min sorry to hear you are having a tough time regarding sleep, I know what a bugger that is. We finally cracked E sleeping through by doing a tamer version of controlled crying, he hasn't gone to bed or had milk through the night for almost 2 weeks (my little super star)

Fx the Dr appointment helps!

Re contraception I have the implant but wouldn't recommend it!

So E has had a bad temp we may be going to the drs tomorrow :(

cookielove · 01/06/2015 17:23

Forgot to say that I fell over with E in my arms today, so blimming scary. I am sore and E is fine thank god!!

WilHarlot · 01/06/2015 18:32

Glad he was ok Cookie, what a fright. How high is his temp?

cookielove · 01/06/2015 19:10

The highest it has been is 38.8, at the moment it's 38.4!

Minion · 01/06/2015 21:27

As suspected, sore throat from a viral cold. Turns out milk can coat the throat so they can be reluctant to feed, wolfed down a pot of orchard chicken and a fruit pot tho.
Thankfully tonight she ate all her milk but she's still unsettled really.
Doesn't help that she's mastering blowing raspberries, when the bottle is in her gob.

PND wise, I think I'm ok. It's a mixture of sleep deprivation and is exactly 6 months since we last dad. I feel I haven't grieved properly really, what with having R so soon.
I'll be OK.

She does make a lot of eye contact, just usually so much more interested in everything else bar feeding and sleeping at the mo.
This too shall pass eh!

JuniDD · 02/06/2015 03:05

Shit night here so far. Been woken three times with screaming. After the third time of my boobs being mangled I've given cal pol and put her in her cot. Ouch. Shes dropping off now and I hope she goes longer than two hours.

Minion · 02/06/2015 04:02

Bless you juni, hope she is sleeping and you are too.
Husband slept in the nursery on the floor til 3 with her, gave me some much needed shut eye. He's driving to Anglesey today so I've taken over.

Still very unsettled.
Fingers crossed a heady combination of snufflebabe, calpol, neurofen and cuddles will sort her out.
If not, send supplies.
Cake and wine greatfully received x

WilHarlot · 02/06/2015 07:05

Thanks Brew Wine Biscuit for Min and Juni. This one is still being a night time pest too although I think I got a three hour block before the nonsense started. Been awake since 5.30 and really have to get up now.

Hope E is ok Cookie, poor thing.

Have a course thing to go to and have to take Micro with me in case she needs fed. Praying she doesn't scream the place down and get me chucked out.

JuniDD · 02/06/2015 09:26

Thanks for cake and tea. Much needed. She slept til 6.50 in the end so I think teeth or something is hurting her. So what to do...I can't give her calpol every night, or can I? Can't sit for this rain to dry up, a change of scene really distracts her. Hope we all have decent days. I am hoping for a long joint nap!

Pisghetti · 02/06/2015 10:47

Brew To all of you dealing with sleepless nights. BabyPis has decided evenings are for screaming but she does at least sleep.

HV today - please send fat thoughts for her! If she gives me side eye and ask if I'm eating ok again I'll knock her out. I'm eleven and a half stone so I certainly do not look in need of a bowl of soup. What is depressing is the people saying to me I'm carrying baby weight. I was heavier when I got pregnant Sad couldn't be less arsed to do something about it though especially when the weather is so epically shit!

WilHarlot · 02/06/2015 11:56

Pis tell them all to fuck off. Your weight is your own business. Good luck with HV.

Hope you get your nap Juni. I think you can give calpol whenever she's particularly uncomfortable. Have you tried Ashton and Parsons powder? I never felt they were any use but some people swear by them. Bonjela? Something you can put in the fridge then give her to chew?

I'm knackered but course was really interesting this morning. I was informed at the weekend by inlaws that my children deserve a mum and dad who are married. Hmm Wind your neck in folks. Never have I had to bite my tongue so hard.

JuniDD · 02/06/2015 12:30

Lots of people need to be told to fuck off. What does that even mean wil??!! And pis who the hell is commenting on your weight?! Do not even think about dieting til babyj's is six months. That's good stuff for growing babies. (Am the same weight Wink)

Been to singing in foreign languages today. Babyj just "chatted" through it and so loud we couldn't hear the instructions...BlushBlushone lady was there with twins. Kudos!!

Currently mainlining cake and aiming for a quick lunch then feed and sleep. Fingers crossed.

Pisghetti · 02/06/2015 15:02

BabyPis is settling on the 25th centile so the HV is happy. Phew! The weight commenters are my ex-kind-of-in-laws - DS's paternal grandparents. They were telling me how their other daughter in law had just snapped right back into shape by two months but it was ok that I was still carrying baby weight Hmm fuck em. Eurgh Wil thats ridiculous! Ex-kind-of-FIL keeps asking when we're getting married. I made a bet with him that I'd be neither engaged nor married within two years - I'm due to make £50 next year Grin

FurryScoob · 02/06/2015 15:14

Bollocks to them pis you are lucky they are ex in laws!

We've had the same comments wil I've also been told if Mr furry hasn't proposed by now he's just looking for a better option, this was from someone who's marriage lasted 6 months.

Mr furrys jobs gone to shit & I now have no option but to go back to work in a job I hate, so I'm in a fuck the whole world mood today. Sad

WilHarlot · 02/06/2015 15:26

Shit Furry, what happened?

God people are twats. What's so great about being married? It's me who doesn't really want to in our case. MrWil would as long as he didn't have to organise anything.

FurryScoob · 02/06/2015 15:37

Mr furry's a taxi driver, the company he works for have put a new system in for sending out work which doesn't work as well as the old system which cuts down the work & costs him more to use.

Miniscoobs giving me a cuddle & were off to find some chocolate in a bit. Grin

WilHarlot · 02/06/2015 16:59

That's shit, could he try a different firm?

Can't believe someone said that to you btw. It's like having a child with someone is nothing at all. Aargh fuck the world and eat chocolate!!!

For the first time ever, I'm a wee bit upset by fb stuff. I generally live by a rule of 'don't compare your life to anyone else's' and I'm not a jealous person so I tend to be amused by people who get fb rage. Mm must mean I'm overtired and oversensitive I think.

FurryScoob · 02/06/2015 21:40

Hooya wil get off Facebook & get some sleep!

The married comments were before miniscoob & the woman was an arse/lonely old bitter woman so I wasn't offended, we'll get married when we get round to it.

Mr furry could change firm but still wouldn't earn enough but I'm gonna win the lottery on Friday, I've decided it's my turn, anyone want a million? Grin

WilHarlot · 03/06/2015 03:53

Me please!

Minion · 03/06/2015 04:12

Bung us a couple quid then I could afford a night nanny.

WilHarlot · 03/06/2015 07:53

Amen to that Min. Couldn't get back to sleep after 3am feed. Proper zombie. Wish we had nothing on this morning.
