Hi everyone

Wow PF4 and Snowboo, how frightning for you both! Glad to hear they're both ok now anyway.

Eeny, have you had Alex in one of those baby sleeping bags? With Ellis its not such an issue but with dd I used to sleep her in one so that I could just unzip it, change her bum and then feed her. When she'd finished, she'd go back to sleep all nice and warm so all I had to do was put her back into her cot.

All is well here. Ellis has now streched his sleep even more! So he now goes from 9pm till 8am I think its because he doesn't sleep during the day although when we're out in the car he does nap so who knows the logic!
He also had his jabs on Thursday and thankfully he was ok. He also had his measurements taken and he's now 11lb 3oz and I've been told he's taller than average, just above the 75th centile.

I also started CBT on Thursady. It was supposed to be this coming week but she had a cancellation and slotted me in. It was a bit full on and i ended up having a do in there. I asked to go out but she made me stay with it and breath through it. Shes also given me lots to read through and I go back on the 23rd.

Anyone going to a firework display at the weekend?

sarahlou1uk · 29/10/2006 16:51

SYF - not going to a firework do this weekend but we are having our own little display next Sunday. Will have to pre warn fire dept and all neighbours as dh is a bit of a pyromaniac!!! Last year he nearly shot a rocket from our back garden into the bedroom window of the house behind us! He is lethal with fireworks - worse than a big kid!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 30/10/2006 08:26

Well dh, dd and myself have all come down with cold.
I feel so yuck. My head feels all funny and my neck aches. Boooohoooo.

So I'm feeling sorry for myself!

I have however, been doing bits of xmas shopping here and there and I can see light at the end of the tunnel! It always seems never ending.

trix1 · 30/10/2006 14:39

hello everyone, sorry for disappearing for weeks and weeks but hasn't the time flown. My little teasure Caitlin is now 10 weeks and she is such a dream. We are so lucky with her she now sleeps 12 hours at night (she takes after her mom).

Ive printed this thread to read so I can catch up with you all.

I hope you are all loving motherhood / parenthood.

eenybeeny · 30/10/2006 19:31

YEllow sorry about the cold. We are just starting to get over one here. Its awful! How are your panic attacks?

P42 its nice to hear from you! Glad you are all well!

Booby I emailed you - Sorry I havent called its been manic. Call me anytime and I will try to call you asap!

Well we are having some problems to be honest. I am losing my patience with Alex. He is a very 'high need baby' like on this website. I just wish he were nice and easy like some of your babies! Instead he has to sleep in our arms, he cries at the slightest thing... sigh. Sometimes, a few times a day , he is happy. Thats it. The rest of the time he is really stressed and we are stressed too.

Well I hope you are all well!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 08:18

Eeny, I read your thread sweetie
Look I know I'm nowhere near you but I would be more than happy to chat on the phone with you. I'm on Msn most days so just give me a buzz anytime even if it says I'm busy or away. If your msn is still playing up just email me.

Have you tried a sling or did you get one? Also what about the sleeping with a tshirt thing. Instead of one of your tops, sleep with a few of his sleepsuits. That way he's actually wearing the suit and its more nearer to him.

The anxiety is still lurking. Mornings seem to be worse and if I know I have to do something that day it seems to trigger it.
I've decided to take up knitting so that I have something to take my mind off it. Can't g'tee great results but I'm sure it will be a laugh trying.

melsy · 31/10/2006 12:05

Hi all

sorry havent been on here for ahwile , I have been posting , but mainly in health board,as mines gone a bit haywire. All sorts of ailmetns and things , mainly stemming form anxiety and stress. We also lost an Uncle last night , so have to go to a shiva this week, cannot face the funeral today as Ill just be a right state if I see aburiel , Dh is going , I hope they are ok with that.

Hey at least I have here to come too and yellow too , thank you for all our chats on MSN, youre part of my all important home buddy team!!!!

This is my list ,sorry if I go on , but I need to let it out somewere. Some of this I went to a gp today about and in a roundabout way she suggested that she couldn only deal with so many as she onyl comes once a week or something???, so I feel a bit of a numpty ( a great turn of phrase from yellow!) now for all this , but here goes:

-Sacral Illiac awful pain ALL THE TIME,really hard to stand straight after sitting, waiting for a referra NHS or dh's cover if he doesnt resign!!!
-HUGE calcium spot needs removing above eye , having 2nd consulation in 2weeks(may have another referral to plastic surgeon as so near eye)
-Panic attacks returned last week to my shock and horror , hoping its just stress and tiredness, but havent had them for 2yrs
-Vertigo / severe giddyness , cant take stematol as BF , so not sure what to do about that???. GP today said I'll have to live with it for the time being

  • Funny fanjo ! stitched to tight so have to see a gynae , again maybe able to do on dh's cover before he resigns, otherwise another NHS referral.

Soooo do you think thats enough , I feel like a headcase AGAIN!!!!

Oh and to top it all at HV clinic today I got driven mad about dd2s weight as shes dropped a whole percentile (althought dont really understand it all). Shes gone from 50th to 25th and as I havent weighed her often enough they coudnt plot the curve properly , so have been advised to go every week. Ive worked out shes gained approx 4oz a week since I last weighed her. I feel bad as it was nearly 8 weeks ago , but she seemd to be thriving so well and having to go into bigger nappies and babygros. After birth she was gaining 6oz a week , so if shes stayed doing that , she would be 13lbs now and then theyd tell me se was being overfed , OH FGS, this all drives me mad.

Im soo so sorry for you eeeny and Sal having a time of it. Everyone seems to be giving you really good suggestions and sometimes I find it best to just vent in yuor situation.

BigHotMama · 31/10/2006 17:38

Hi everyone hope your all ok

Melsy chick, sounds like your having a right time of it, hope things get better for you soon. And I know how you feel about the weight thing as Jackson's weight dropped from 50th to below the 25th last week so I'm on a mission to fatten him up a bit, and at same time not beat myself up over not having enough breastmilk. I'm sure its probably because he's sleeping better at night now and missing out a feed. But he makes up for it during the day. I'm feeding every 2-3 hours and he is on the boob for at least 40mins. I really want to carry on BF as i love it but am scared whgat they'll say if he doesnt put on weight. He's only 10lb 9oz and 10 weeks. The other babies at the 9 week check up were nearly double his size. He's got a tiny head too but is absolutley gorgeously cute. only thing I can do is feed him up during the day more and hope he puts on weight.

Eeny hope your ok chick, sounds like little Alex just wants to be close to you all the time, its so hard and bet your knackered! Hope he starts to settle for you real soon.

Snowboo and P42, sorry to hear about your scares. Good to hear both babies are doing good now, what a relief!

So hope we can do this meet up as it would be lovely to meet you all and I'm up for anything.

Very of those of you whose babies are sleeping through the night! I still feel like a walking zombie! x

olivo · 31/10/2006 17:53

melsy - sorry to hear you're having a crap time of it. hope things get better soon.

hope things are a little better for you too, eeny.

regarding the weight gain thing, my dd ony put on 3 oz this week, and 4 oz the week before after weekly gains of 7 oz or so. the hv was lovely tho and just said that we'd keep an eye on it and that she seemed happy and healthy and maybe she is just going to be petite like me (cheered me up as i'd been on the scales myself this a.m !!) . so its a case of wait and see..... gutted as i though bf was going well.

everything else fine, dd a bit windy but generally content i think!

off to hide from the trick or treaters now

eenybeeny · 31/10/2006 17:56

hi everyone! how are you? We are ok. I have to go really as Alex is stirring but wanted to post a little. Thanks for all your support. Someone on MN has very kindly made me a sling so I should have that soon and hopefully it will help a lot. I am just trying to keep going at the moment. I am just sad this isnt more fun really. Hope it will be soon. Have a great HAlloween!!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 31/10/2006 20:52

Evening all

Great news about the sling eeny! I think this will make a difference. I've said before, Ellis can be screaming like mad and as soon as he's put in the sling he goes quiet. I'm sure its a combination of the position and the fact they are so close to you. I think you'll love it too. You'll get to see what your hands look like

Melsy [hugs]. Hope the funeral was ok for you if you went. Let me know how you are.

I think I need help. I can't stop spending on the internet. Never mind all this about online betting, what about online shopping!!!! My poor credit card aches!

PinkTulips · 01/11/2006 18:01

hello all

i've just lost half a week of my life to the flu. spent the last 3 days curled in the armchair shivering, sneezing and groaning with caleb feeding constantly. still feel rotten but seem to be over the worst of it. it's no joke being sick with 2 kids though, how on earth do single moms cope?!

eeny, that article describes dd perfectly! you're in for so much fun when he's a toddler! seriously though, try not to let it get you down, i always find dd so much easier to deal with when i just relax and tell myself it won't last forever. if i start to get too caught up with how she 'should' behave or how other peoples babies behave i lose the rag altogether and get so snappy and grouchy with her.

melsy, i'm so sorry about your uncle are you ok?

feathers, have you felt any improvement since the cbt? whens your next session?

lunavix · 01/11/2006 19:00

Hi everyone

so sorry you are still struggling eeny, it's not easy is it! Hope your sling helps

We're struggling with dd now. She's been a total angel, but the last few days she's started something new. When she gets tired, it seems like a switch flicks in her head and she starts screaming (exactly like her hungry scream which before she had reserved only for hunger!) it really is deafening and she's crying tears and everthing. The only thing that calms her down is vigorogus rocking/bouncing, while swaddled, with a dummy wedged in her mouth. 10 min or so later, she's asleep with red ears and tears everywhere. THen she wakes up and does it again then again... after about 20 min she'll either be asleep enough to put her down or wake herself entirely up.

It's really stressing us out. She's still mostly sleeping through so we do get a break, but it's every single time, including bed time. She won't even fall asleep feeding anymore, in the car, or in the buggy. I'm going to try the sling again tomorrow but I'm not holding out hope. I've no idea what caused it. I came down with tonsillitus nearly a week ago - it might be the meds? But I can't remember if it coincides or not.

We also put an offer in on a house.... and were turned down Ho hum.

lunavix · 01/11/2006 19:00

red ears? red eyes

YellowFeathers · 02/11/2006 08:37

Lunavix, sounds like it could be a virus.
I remember dd being just like your describing. She slept through too and then suddenly she just decided to start screaming at sleep times. We had her checked over and it was a virus.

Pinky, poor you. Flu is horrible. I cant imagine having to BF when you feel like that. I hope your better now.
The CBT isnt till the 23rd so a bit to wait yet. It should be interesting though as dh goes away again the week after that. So I hope it has some impact.

Hope everyone is ok.
xxx

dreamydowler · 02/11/2006 10:12

hi everyone. sorry to hear some of you have been ill and stressed. I think we have all done really well and should be so proud of ourselves. Im going to Birmingham this weekend so will have some news about the meet up for you all very soon I hope I think we definitely need a break and to get to see the people that have kept us going over the months I cant wait to meet you all even if it is just for a macdonalds

trix1 · 02/11/2006 16:02

Dreamy when are you hoping to have the meet up? im not far from Bham.

eenybeeny · 02/11/2006 16:28

Pinky I Am so sorry about your flu!!!! We had a cold and it was horrible looking after Alex who felt miserable while I felt miserable!

Well he is in the sling right now asleep - Its great!!!!!!!

Things are MUCH MUCH MUCH better for us the last few days. I Am much happier (ADs starting to work or a coinicedence?) and Alex is also much happier. He is crying less and smiling more. Last night Sal and I had a breathrough and even got him to sleep IN HIS COT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may seem like a little thing to some of you with easier babies but for us it was a total breakthrough! He usually only sleeps while he is held or in the pram where he is rocked constantly. To get him to sleep, turn the baby monitor on, and go downstairs to eat dinner just the two of us was a godsend! And Alex is happier for it too.

We saw a peadiatrician today just to have him checked over and make sure there was no problem and he got a clean bill of health. (We waited over 2 hours just to see the Doctor! )

Luna sorry about your DD. Yellow is right it could be a virus. Maybe she is getting overtired and cant cope?

eenybeeny · 02/11/2006 16:39

Yellow didnt you say before you had an idea for the meet up or am I imagining that? I really want to do it! I'd love to meet you all! I Am really sad though that Pink and Olivo wouldnt be able to make it.

PinkTulips · 02/11/2006 18:05

omygods this week can't get any bloody worse.

dp is sick too with the same bug (but he's worse of course , dd is sick with it too, calebs in a mood, we couldn't do the shopping as dp and dd are too sick so we've no food in the house and to top it all off dp's dad has just come in the door on a feckin surprise visit so i have to put down the mattress in calrbs cot in our room and make it up for dd and make the bed in her room for him and to make it worse the man has a effin nervous breakdown if i feed in front of him and cannot be made to understand that he has to stand by the door to smoke.

sweet jesus i'm going to cry

sorry for the rant but needed to get that out somewhere

CONGRATULATIONS EENY AND SAL!!!!! wow, was that the best tasting dinner of ye're lives or what?!

OP posts:
eenybeeny · 02/11/2006 20:21

Thanks Pink for the congratulations! We just successfully got Alex to sleep in his cot again tonight!! YAY!!!!! I am on such a high.

HAving said that - I am Soooooo sorry about your week it sounds dreadful!! Your FIL sounds like he is a bit of a pain! How long will he be with you? Does he live near?

PinkTulips · 02/11/2006 21:26

5/6 hours by bus..... and at no point on that trip did it occur to him to ring and let us know he was coming. no idea when he's going, tomorrow i hope, i'm not exactly being overly friendly!

babies keep waking each other as they're both a bit sick and i'm running up and down the stairs like an idiot every five mins.

wow! 2 night in a row! thats excellant, long may it continue babe!

OP posts:
Snowboo · 02/11/2006 23:15

Eeny, well done on two nights so far.....have my fingers crossed it will continue for you both! Now make sure you and Sal (mainly you) rest up whilst having the chance....

pfor2, how on earth did you cope? i fell to pieces and it was just a scare!!!! Think i'd be in a white coat if it were for real....Glad to hear Matthew is well now.

Hi everyone else, hope all is well, will read thru properly when i get a chance, Austin a grizzler at the mo, teething and puking and not feeding so now on Dr Browns bottles and Colief....

YellowFeathers · 03/11/2006 09:51

Yey Eeny and Sal!!!!
Well bloody done and long may it last I'll mention the meet up idea further down.

Eeek at the teething SnowBoo! Its such a crappy time isnt it. I hope he doesnt get too bad with it. Dont know if you've used it with ds1 but Bepanthen cream and Metanium is good if he gets the dreaded nappy rash.

Pinky, needless to say your not having fun! I hope you all shift the bug quickly.

Ellis was weighed again yesterday and he's 11lb 8oz. HV started talking to me about weaning and invited me to a talk they're having at the dr's about it. She's said that under normal circumstances she would encourage mums to wait till 6 months if possible but because of Ellis's reflux she has said to go for it at 16 weeks. Not sure how I feel about it tbh. Dh says go for it, I say we'll see . I think I'm going to start a thread on it and see what other mums with reflux babies have done and if its worked.
Dh is still off sick, has been now for 2 weeks. He goes back on Monday but what they originally thought was a bug, turns out he could have Crohns disease or IBS. Just waiting for some test results to come back.

Ok, my idea for the meet up was incase we couldnt get anything arranged. I would be more than happy to have everyone at my place. The house is big enough to take it and those with other children, we have more toys, tv's and dvds than you can shake a stick at .
I do appreciate though that this takes the central location away for some of you.
It was just an idea. I mean we are only in North Yorkshire so its not like the outer hebrides or anything and if any of you fancy making a break of it I'd be happy to find you nice accomadation.
This invite doesnt just stand for xmas either, your more than welcome to come by anytime

eenybeeny · 03/11/2006 20:40

Yellow what a lovely offer!! If we could afford the hotel costs then we would love to do it. That applies to a more central meet up as well. It would be so great to meet everyone!

Well we have settled Alex to sleep in his cot for the third night in a row!! YAY for us!

Pink you poor thing!! My heart goes out to you!

Snow sorry about the teething! So early! God as soon as we get over colic we are going to be plunged into that!

Yellow let me know what you think about the weaning as its something we are interested in as well although we have decided to hold off doing it.
