HI all

wont go into to big a diatribe about my stuff tonight (awright only a little one!!!), but I had a great 2 hrs at my hospital's drop in breast feeding grp. A sense of relief this evening that Im not doing wrong by my little one. Especially as they said that shes been plotted on a chart thats for complete ff baby, so a percentile drop is perfectlty normal for an almost 90% BF baby as they level out.

Pink , Id like to know more about the loss of natural sucking reflex. I learnt today that for bottle feeding it uses 4 muscles in the mouth and BF uses 40 ! She seems to be fussing at bottles and me now , hoping its not nipple confusion . I didnt get a chance to ask at the group about it today.

awww eenny, just wanted to say what a wonderful breakthrough for you , a much brighter mummy & daddy hey! Im soo pleased for you , may it continue.

oh Pink , I hope its getting better for you soon in Pink household ?? Is FIL still there?

poor little Austin , hws he doing today snowboo ? dd2 is stuffing in fists and dribbling loads. Ive got the camomila powders at the ready.

Yellow thats a lovely idea , dh not keen on mn meet up things , so need to do some persausion, but Id looooooooove to come, just no sure how !

anywhooo , Im sitting at the table feeling like Im at rough seas, must get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

olivo · 05/11/2006 11:26

hello everyone! hope you are all well.
melsy, that sounded very reassuring- i've just been given the bf graph but dd is still not showing a very good curve - 4 oz then 3oz per week - i'm totally bf and dont want to do formula just yet.

eeny - glad alex is settling a bit and you and sal are getting some time- that first hot dinner togehter is great isnt it?

PT - FIL gone yet? sounds like a nightmare!

dd has started only going 3 1/2 hours between feeds in the night again so am shattered - i cant help smiling back at her when she gives me a big grin when i pick her up though! she's just so gorgeous!!

YF - would have loved to visit you - you're in northallerton aren't you? not far from my old stomping ground. will be thinking of you all at the xmas meet up!

sarahlou1uk · 05/11/2006 11:39

Morning everyone. Well I had day 2 of my reflexology course yesterday. All was fine until my partner asked the instructor to show her one particular move again. Next thing I knew there was a lound crack from my little toe where she was working and I burst into tears!!!!! I wasn't hurt but couldn't stop crying. Turns out the area where she was working was the shoulder/neck area and also in chinese acupuncture, was the spot for responsibility and expressing emotion! Felt a total tit but everyone was amazed at the response. This has now got me totally believing in what I am doing and can't wait to learn more. If I make it to the meet up, I might practise on all of your feet!!!!

PinkTulips · 05/11/2006 15:13

wow that's so cool Sarah, well not the pain bit but the reaction it caused! really proves there's something in it all doesn't it? used to go to an acupuncturist when i was a teen and it was brilliant so you girls should definitely take Sarah up on her offer of freebies!

fil left on Friday but both kids got sick, dp got sick and now his asthma has flared up. I'm way better but still hacking my lungs up and my throat is red raw.

glad you had a positive experience at the bfing support melsy, you going to go again?

olivo, Caleb's shortened his stretches of sleeping at night too, he was going for 6-8 hours quite happily, now he wakes every night at between 11-12 hungry. I'm hoping my supply will catch up soon and he'll switch back because i did enjoy my bit of time on my own in the bed before her came in! know what you mean though.... Caleb gives me the biggest cheekiest grin when he wants up during the night and its impossible to resist!

Pink isnt it amazing what their smiles are like? Me and Sal are endlessly trying to get smiles from Alex. HE is smiling more and more these days and I am happy for him to get older as it means more smiles!! Glad you FIL finally left! Sorry you are still not feeling great though.

Sarahlou that is amazing! God could you come sort me out please?

Olivo hope DD starts sleepinng more for you. Its probably a growth spurt?

Ok PLEASE tell me, what are all your ngiht time routines with putting babies to bed? What time do you do it, how long does it take to get them to settle etc. We are putting Alex to bed around 7:30 - it takes between 20 and 60 mins to get him to sleep. He sleeps til maybe around 11 then its hell getting him back to sleep and he wont sleep in his cot after that. Please tell me what you all do!

PinkTulips · 05/11/2006 16:05

eeny, one thing i've noticed since having caleb where i think i was causing problems with dd was when i give the last feed. with him i feed him downstrairs, then bring him up and give him his bath and get him dressed for bed, put him in his crib with his dummy and dim the lights and he dozes off while i see to dd. with dd i used to feed her last thing before i put her down, often feeding her to sleep and she'd never settle. i've noticed the odd night calebs routine is messed up and i feed him right before putting him down he doesn't settle well, or at all.

its worth experimenting with differant lights and beddings as well as babies have quite distinct tastes. dd hated her crib as she bumped her hands and prefered her cot, calebs the opposite and much prefers his crib all snuggled up. both of them like a very dim nightlight, not too bright but scream if its pitch black.

HTH babe!

Hi all

have taken ages reading through - sorry to all of you going through the mill abit. Things should get better soon

We've had a rough few days - DS1 has had tonsilitis and been really poorly bless him - throwing up allnight for 3 nights so am absolutely knackered bewtween him and jack, although Jack only waking once still. We had a few days where he went from 7.30 to 5.30 so thoguht we'd nearly cracked but think us getting up to ds1 is disturbing him cos hes now going 7.30 till 2.30ish and then till 6 ish. We've had to move him into his own room as he grew out of his moses basket - is massive have just had to buy 3-6 mo clothes for him and hes only 9 weeks!

Hes also at the really cute smily gurgly stage and loves ds1 waving toys in fornt of his face and stuff. Ds1 hasn't worked out that he cant quite play cars with him yet!

Anyway we're off to centre parcs for a few days tomorrow so that should be fun. Jack can have his first swim - have wanted to take him before but can't takle 2 on my owna dn been busy every weekend so far when dh is home so havent been.

eenybeeny · 05/11/2006 17:52

thanks Pink for the info!! Everyone else, please tell me your bedtime routines!

Snowboo · 05/11/2006 17:57

PinkTulips · 05/11/2006 18:38

snap snow, calebs in his 6-9 month stuff too, and one pair of 9-12 pants i'm afraid to shop for him as he grows out of stuff in a month everytime. and he's moved up another size in nappy covers and they're tight on him!!!

enjoy you holiday katylou, sounds like you need the break! i bet they'll love the swimming too

eeny - our routine is kind of the opposite of PT. at 6.30 ish, we bath dd then i feed her and put her down in her moses basket with dim ligth on and she puts herself to sleep ( often with thumb) but no fuss. she either wakes between 9.30 and 10 or we wake her and i feed her and put her back down. she wakes at about 2 and then around 6.30 for feeds at the mo. she was going from 10 till 3.30ish but not at the moment. she is in a moses basket in my room with dh in the spare room!i think you might have to try different things, we did and have now been doing this for just a few days but so far,so good. good luck!

olivo · 05/11/2006 19:09

am actually of those who need bigger clothes - dd is just growing out of newborn at 10 weeks!!

eenybeeny · 05/11/2006 20:13

Olivo thanks for telling me your routine. We just got Alex to sleep FINALLY! He keeps clawing at his own face and wakes himself up. he hasnt properly learned how to suck his thumb yet although I wish he would so he could settle himself better. As it is we have to run every time he spits his dummy out.

Pink and Snow I cant believe how big your babies are!!!! Alex is in 0-3 months right now - and he is 12 weeks old.

eenybeeny · 06/11/2006 17:42

No one has posted here since my last post yesterday??? Whats going on?

Ok... um...

Well I started my xmas shopping a few months ago but this week I am going into full XMAS MODE!! I am throwing a party so have a lot of planning to do.

Well hope you are all well!

We are doing good - Alex is a little darling whom I adore!

Micku5 · 06/11/2006 21:34

Hiya, not had time to read all the messages since I've come back but will do so soon to see how everyone is.

Had a good time on holiday and was pleased to be catch up with Mum, Dad and my sister. Both girls were really good on the flight and on holiday Talia slept loads so I was able to spend more time with Jadyn.

She's also sleeping longer through the night and days now which couldn't have come at a better time.

Talia had her second lot of jabs today so I am expecting her to be a bit miserable for the next couple of days. I am taking her to get weighed tomorrow since we've missed a few weeks.... she's still tiny compared to some of the other babies around. She's still in 0-3 months clothes even though she's almost 16 weeks old, but they are getting tight on her

If you are interested there are a couple of new photos of dd1 and 2 from holiday.. and some of the view from my mum's place. I am not jealous at all

PinkTulips · 06/11/2006 23:49

did i not post earlier? i could have sworn i did..... even remember writing the post! o dear, i think the crazy is finally taking over!

micku your girls are gorgeous! so beautiful and with lovely dark eyes and fabulous smiles. and i'm sobbing in of your mothers view

Eeny, glad to hear you sounding a lot more upbeat and hooray to little Alex!!!! Enjoy your olanning, im now in Christmas mode....once ds1 has his birthday it will be exactly one month to go! Yipeeeeeeeeee

Pink, im crazy too. Walking down the road taking ds1 to school, suddenly stopped as i thought id forgotten Austin! Checked buggy and he was still there.....

Micku5 · 07/11/2006 14:41

Thanks.... I tell DH that they take after me lol (everyone says they look like DH though)

Mum and Dad live in Seychelles and my sister lives in Mauritius.

BigHotMama · 07/11/2006 17:46

Hi everyone, hope your all good!

Jackson put on 5 oz last week so am relieved as he has only put on total of 2lb since birth.
We have got him into a bit of a routine now too with bedtime. We bath him at 7pm, he has a big booby feed then we attempt to get him to sleep for maybe an hour or two, then we give him 6oz formula at 10pm and then bed, he has ben waking up around 5ish so I'm getting used to more kip which is so refreshing. He cant seem to get himself off to sleep, we have to rock him with his dummy everytime. We could leave him in his basket where he will be grouchy for half hour then fall asleep. Its so hard leaving hime to cry though, I feel so guilty!

Hoping to get online more as we bought a pc the weekend and are going onto broadband fingers crossed!

Micku5, lovely pics of your girls. Hopefully i can get some pics of me n Jackson on here soon x

eenybeeny · 08/11/2006 10:18

Micku, those are lovely pictures!! Your girls are beautiful!

BHM I can identify - it takes us to about an hour or more now to get Alex off to sleep and it is hard work! He sleeps fine in the sling (I'm wearing him now) but the cot is a different story.

Snow, lol at you thinkin you had forgotten Austin!! Poor thing!

Things here are still getting better. I am really tired today as I woke up with a migraine, have taken loads of pills and just hope I can get through the day as quietly as possible. Alex has his days and nights mixed up a bit, he sleeps A LOT during the day now (in the sling!) and wont really sleep at night so we are just trying to work out what to do about that!

Hope you are all well!

olivo · 08/11/2006 10:54

eeny - hope you sre feeling ok, try and get some rest.
snow- lol at forgetting austin! i often have to check that i havent left dd in her car seat on the drive!
micku - great pics!

am hoping one of you girls might be able to help me - sorry if you've already seen my posts on feeding etc but i have started dd on infant gaviscon and am really struggling. i syringe it in after a feed and she spits it out again, also gets quite angry with me - not good in the middle of the night when i'm trying to jeep her sleepy!! any tips? meant to give it 4 to six times a day and dreading tonight already!

eenybeeny · 08/11/2006 13:21

Olivo we were giving Alex infant gaviscon as well. We made it up and gave it to him in a bottle, not a syringe and he took it fine. I think once we made it up it was just under an ounce. Try giving it to her that way??

eenybeeny · 08/11/2006 14:35

i remember back when we were all pregnant, if I went away for an hour I would come back to 20 new posts! how different it is since the babies were born!

olivo · 08/11/2006 14:35

good plan - will try that. she has been getting used to a bottle with ebm so will make up some gaviscon and try it at the next feed. thanks eeny.

eenybeeny · 08/11/2006 14:43

Olivo I am pretty sure you can mix the gaviscon in with milk as well so you could even give it to her in the EBM. I think Sal did that for Alex I will ask him when he gets home.
