Good afternoon all!

Ah little monster has started waking in the night starving and i cant keep up with him!! Seems to snack every two hours so im permanently at the sink washing bottles then sterilising them....Thank goodness for ready made formula

Is it only me that is having a major guilt trip about giving Austin formula? Everywhere i look i see 'breast is best', and how bf babies are better through their life. Not that my two are unhappy, just wish ppl would let up and realise that for some ff is the only option.....Whinge over.

Austin is now in 6-9month clothing and he is 14weeks. I will be weaning him soon....

Olivo, been trying to think of a Christmas name but seeing as my brain no longer exists it may take a while....

Eeny, so good to hear you sounding really cheerful after all you've been through. Wheres Sal these days?

Right, must get off my backside and tidy b4 dh gets home from golf....we going out for Chinese tonight (she says hopefully!)

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 10/11/2006 13:23

Dont be daft Mels . It must have seemed strange me not being online, since I'm usually glued to it lol.

SBoo, dont get me started on these bloody breast is best crappola. It really pisses me off seeing all these threads.
I was saying to Mels the other day, I might start a thread titled "I love formula".

MrsChristmasboo · 10/11/2006 13:25

Ohhh if you do i'll join it!!!! Start a riot...hehehe.

Did i say like the new name? Never remember what i've said to who and can't be bothered to read thru my posts. Feeling lazy....

Opps, now really MUST do something in the house whilst Austin is sleeping.....

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 10/11/2006 13:27

I should be stripping wallpaper
Having a sneaky break ,lol!

Am soooooo tempted. It will cause a right hooo haaa wont it!

MrsChristmasboo · 10/11/2006 13:37

Ah shall we? Will be a bit of light entertainment...

As you can see, i'm STILL sitting here. Oh dear, i do believe i'm obsessed with my beloved computer.

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 10/11/2006 13:42

lol I knew you'd reply

Ok shall we set a time to start it, get stocked up with refreshments and enjoy a nights entertainment

PinkTinsel · 10/11/2006 13:45

lol, would be fun to see you do it but methinks all hell would break loose!

is anyone else starting to hyperventilate at the thought of xmas? i'm coming to the realisation that we'll have to fall further behind on the rent to get through it.... and we were only just catching up i'd ;love just for once to be able to enjoy xmas instead of feeling sick with worry over money

and speaking of money.... caleb has grown into the same size nappies as dd so my the theory of not having to buy more for the second baby is out the window, frantically trying to find the money to pick some up. i had to buy the little monstor a size 9-12 month coat the other day as the 6-9 one was barely big enough.......(((((SIGH)))))

MrsChristmasboo · 10/11/2006 13:48

Oh gosh, looks like we've bred a couple of monsters!!

Well i will be getting dh drunk from 6pm so anytime after 7pm is good for me!

Oh sugar, dh has just pulled up and im still on my bum....am now going til later and whizz round the kitchen before he gets out the car!!!!

BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PinkTinsel · 10/11/2006 13:51

bye! good luck with the cleaning blitz

melsy · 10/11/2006 13:51

ok had a whole bf / ff diatribe written here , but didnt want to start another feeding debate , my head cant take it today. Dont wish to upset anyone at all , my comment to pink the other day was we are all doing the very best we can in terms of capabilities , physiology and personal lifestyle.

PinkTinsel · 10/11/2006 13:56

exactly melsy

everyone here is doing the absolute best they can for their babies, none of you have any reason at all to feel guilty. ye should be proud of what you do for them every day of their lives (and don't forget the fun filled nights!)

melsy · 10/11/2006 13:58

looks like I got to the party too late , your all gooing !!!!

Theres gonna be flames on here tonight !!

Wow pink , you have some good stuff there, 9-12 mths size !!! dd has now started to be too big for 0-mths babygros, so got to go out tomoz and get some bigger ones, weird I dont have any of dd's 3-6mths , very odd .

Funny how when we were all preggers we all kinda linked with the same ailments and funny niggle. Now we have the babas here , we can very clearly see how different all our lifestyles and choices are. Yet we all seem joined in our efforts and daily life.

melsy · 10/11/2006 14:01

that was meant to be dont have any of dd1's old babygros , as I kept EVERYTHING, gonna save me a fortune in coats and jumpers and all sorts of stuff. All I can think is that they had longer use and werent nice to keep may be.

PinkTinsel · 10/11/2006 14:08

lol, i kept everything too melsy but its all pink after size 0-3 months i don't think caleb could quite pull off pastel pink flowery dresses!

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 10/11/2006 17:35

Pinky, I think thats half my problem with the whole feeding thing.
I dont feel guilty at all for choosing to feed the way I do but some posters on here, wether or not they wish to admit it, think that breast is best, theres no excuse not to and if you dont your a selfish lazy chav.

I hate the whole attitude of it all and the snobbery. It really does piss me off.

olivo · 10/11/2006 20:05

YF - pmsl @ "selfish lazy chav"

eenysugarplumfairy · 10/11/2006 20:21

Hi all!! Wow no one posts all day then I go away and the thread lights up like a christmas tree!!

First of all, Sal sends his love. He keeps meaning to post and then forgets, I'm going to remind him though as I know he really wants to!

Olivo I am trying to think of a festive name for you... um... MrsOlivomas MrsOlivoClaus um... OlivoClaus sorry thats all I got.

Regarding the formula - Alex is 80% breastfed and the other 20% is formula. Its when I sleep at night. I really can not wake up to feed him as my migraine meds that I take before bed totally knock me out. I have felt really guilty for it AT TIMES but most of the time, I am ok with it! It isnt poisen ffs! Anyway... he is a happy healthy baby (now!) so I know he is ok. I personally love breastfeeding him but if I had a problem doing it for some reason then it wouldnt mean I loved him any less.

I can not believe all of you and your huge babies!!!!! Alex weighs 13lb 7oz as of last Tuesday, he is in 0-3 month clothes... I cant picture all your big babies please please please send me pictures!!!

Went out shopping today with our neighbor who is kind of a mother figure to us. She got Alex the Chicco high chair . It is sooooo great!!! I love it!! It will be a while yet before I can use it but I am so excited about it!

oooohhh I just love Alex to bits. He is the cutest little thing and his smile just melts my heart. I know this sounds maybe a bit dramatic, I dont mean it to, but I feel he is such a part of me its like he was carved out of my flesh. Sorry I just had to express that! Arent we all so lucky?!?!?

micromum · 10/11/2006 21:34

Hi Everyone,

Sorry its been so long, the time is flying by just trying to catch up.

Me and little maria are doing well, had her weighed last week she is now just over 13lb (8 weeks).

Not sleeping through the night yet but generaly only wakes once about 4. Has anyone mastered sleeping through ?

What time generaly do your little ones go to bed at?

Loving the name changes

Any advances on the christmas meet up

Salamander · 10/11/2006 22:45

WELL HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THERE
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, allow me to apologise for my absence.
Secondly, let me say that PinkTulips was correct on the Hamstergate Thread (here if you fancy) when she said that my time is now taken up by looking after Eeny & Alex!!!!

Oh My Goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing, but nothing could have prepared me for what Fatherhood is like.
It is MAD MAD MAD. I don't know about other gents' perceptions, but my world has been turned upside down.

It is as if I can kind of view my previous life through a fun-house mirror, but I can't reach it.

Gone are the days of care-free collapsing on the sofa and focusing all my attention on Eeny.

Gone are the days of running out the house on the spur of the moment.

Eeny was right just down below saying that I keep forgetting to post here. I do, but it's out of having NO TIME AT ALL, and my brain being fried.

Having Alex has redefined the meaning of the word 'tired'...
I thought I knew what tired was before... I had NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!
---
Having said all of the above, of course, I LOVE ALEX TO BITS and being a father is AMAZING and nothing that I could ever fully describe.

I'll attempt with some thoughts:

The nose wrinkle Alex does when he laughs at something

The gorgeous bottom the boy has

The knowledge that I will be helping to raise this human

The shape his lips make when he falls asleep

This little life we have created is fascinating and I feel honoured to be given the chance to be his father.
I'm honoured to share the journey with Eeny too.

I hope all of you are equally blown away by this mad change in your lives if you're first-timers too.

I promise to try and get back on here again soon.

Tara,

Sal...........

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 10/11/2006 22:45

omg how cool is this!
I bought myself a little treat in the form of a nintendo ds last week. So guess whos mumsnetting in bed right now?!!!

MrsChristmasboo · 10/11/2006 23:46

Wow Sal!! i think you should be an honoury woman....My dh has NEVER understood the true meaning of tired and still has time to crash on the sofa plus buggering off down the pub at the drop of a hat..... Nice to see there is a man who can appreciate how tough it is
Eeny, you have a special man there (but methinks Sal is equally lucky too)

Soz didn't make the party to another thread, ended up watching two very crap films and had two boys asleep on my lap! As it is i'm supposed to be burning dvds but got sidetracked....

Oh was gonna say something else but my brain has well and truly gone to bed!!!!

MrsChristmasboo · 10/11/2006 23:48

Oh and i want a nintendo ds now Ive got the old nintendo gameboy wassitcalled....the one with hte flippy screen......Or maybe Fathre Christmas will be kind and bring me a pink, must be pink, psp! Then i'll know which one is mine!!!!

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 11/11/2006 10:08

Sorry Sal, we got crossed posts last night and the second I did post it switched off cos the battery died!
You are well and truly smitten arent you!
I have to say being a new parent is fab because everything is new and you just cant wait for the next day to see what new things they're going to do.
But
doing it again, yes it has its downers but its so much better. I feel like I'm appreciating Ellis alot more than I did with dd IYSWIM. Not in a bad way.
I keep finding myself looking at him thinking OMG I made you!

I'm so pleased Alex is happier now and your both enjoying parenthood.

SBoo, would deffo get the Nintendo Ds rather than the Psp if you want it for the internet. Dh has got the psp and its so slow on the net. The Ds loads the pages up instantly, its fantastic.

PinkTinsel · 11/11/2006 11:04

sal can we clone you? please? we all want one like you!

dp says all the same things as you...... from his nice comfy seat on the couch! he's besotted with both kids but doesn't know the meaning of giving up all his time for them, NOTHING interferes with his relaxation!

feathers, i know exactly what you mean..... this time round i'm so much more relaxed and know to take my time with caleb and just enjoy him. with you first youe constantly waiting for the next development, rushing things along in your eagerness to see them grown up, then suddenly they're a toddler and you realise how good you had it when they were tiny, and all you missed out on through neurotic worrying!

another thing that amuses me is the age thing. with dd i knew her age down to how many weeks and days she was for most of the first year...... with caleb i haven't a clue.... he's 3 months-ish and beyond that i don't know or care! had to ask dp the other week when i needed his age in weeks for somehting and we had to find the calendar and count it out as neither of us knew!

eenysugarplumfairy · 11/11/2006 18:20

Micromum - nice to hear from you. I think meeting up this side of Christmas is sounding a bit ambitious. I propose a meeting in the New Year. Are we all still settled on Birmingham area? If we agree to do it in the New Year I would be happy to arrange it. I won't have time to do it this side of Christmas. Pink & Olivo I am devastated at the thought of you not being there! Is there any way you could come in the New Year?

Is a Nintendo DS a tiny little thing? If so how on earth are you able to use MN?!

Girls, I am lucky Sal is really really great.

God I just had a fright I thought I had missed the X Factor - what a loser! haha

Its so funny listening to you all talk about how different it is with baby number 2. Sal still says absolutely no more babies but I think I might be happy to do it one more time. I hope I can talk him around. BUT I may never know what its like to have 2 babies.

Alex went through a bad episode tonight crying a lot I couldnt work out what was wrong with him. I think he is overtired but also I get the feeling he isnt feeling well. We put him in the sling (I'm wearing it) and gave him some calpol and he has gone to sleep. The Baby Whisperer routine we put him on is working a treat. Its really simple, it goes, Eat, Activity (basically just awake time) then Sleep. And it repeats every 3 hours. Alex has responded so well to it. He is such a darling I am really enjoying it.
