Wow puggle. That sounds like a good birth, apart from the small matter of cleaning up the en suite afterwards.

Has anyone succesfully weaned yet? I am feeling bored with bfing now and am ready to stop. N doesn't seem to feel the same way though.

H sounds like N puggle. He still isn't really talking but peppa pig were his first intelligible words apart from mummy and shoes. He also loves My Little Pony thanks to DD.

Swannykazoo · 22/09/2015 13:32

H is often called the breast pest he is so into it. I do find the "boobie Peeese (please) Mummy" quite endearing. I have bought "Sally weans from night nursing" to introduce the concept of nightweaning but its frankly the lamest book in the world. Maybe we need an episode where George or Peppa wean from BF?

alteredimages · 22/09/2015 13:42

We certainly do puggle, but sadly Mummy Pig seems far too efficient and would have had Daddy Pig doing the night feeds with EBM by six weeks post partum.

I am pretty sure the Scots language story books my Mum gave me have to be the lamest ever. If they deal with child nutrition at all I doubt they would stretch much past "gie the lad a macaroni peh and a tin e irn bru". Sorted.

GunShotResidue · 23/09/2015 07:59

I'm sure I wrote a reply on Sunday, as it's not here I must have imagined it

Thank you puggle and altered :) I'm so worried about something going wrong, I've been lurking on the may 16 group but I'm too scared to post! I'm not normally such a pessimist!

We are down to just one feed before bed. I think L would be ready to totally wean but I'm glad we've carried on so far, she's just come down with chicken pox bit it seems to be fairly mild, probably because I'm immune and she's still feeding. Tempted to give up one she's recovered.

Hopefully when she's better she'll start to sleep, but I don't hold out much hope. So far the 18 month regression has lasted longer than the month she actually slept half decently!

Puggle I hope your cycles start again soon and H starts sleeping through!

Swannykazoo · 23/09/2015 13:18

I am laughing in a roll on the floor Peppa Pig style way at the thought of Mummy Pig's mastery of breastfeeding.
Need to post a picture of my cargo bike it is the best thing in the world!

Angelesque · 24/09/2015 18:55

Hi all waves fell off thread for a bit...

Can't believe our babies are coming up for two! Second Christmases coming up... Have to say I am so excited to see what F thinks of Christmas this year - he was too young last year to have any idea anything was going on!

BookTart · 25/09/2015 22:09

Congrats gsr! How exciting Grin

I think the last lot of molars have started to come through. It is pretty harrowing by P's standards, but not too bad so far really. Horrible nappy rash, clingy at bedtime, but otherwise just a bit grumpy and chewing her hands off. Poor thing.

And she has finally said a word that isn't No or Dada! She can now say 'star' and can baa like a sheep. Clearly a genius Wink

Swannykazoo · 26/09/2015 14:54

Have stockpiled a sit on digger for Christmas (diggers are THE BOMB in our house at the minute) but wondering if the fad might have faded and whether it would be better to break it out sooner
What's everyone's wee one wearing to sleep in? Gave up on the gro-bags when we went on holiday as it was too nice then. Now getting chilly, and H loves to sleep with legs akimbo and sometimes up on me. Keeps kicking his duvet off so I cover him back up a million times a night but wondering what to do as we start thinking about the big boys bed He's in JCB long sleeve PJs and socks, and scratchsleeves over the top of his arms.
Here is cargo bike too

January 2014- the one where the babies move more, but sleep less!
FelixFelix · 26/09/2015 17:16

Congrats GSR!! Thanks

Puggle I love the cargo bike. It's so awesome.

S will have her third Christmas this year Shock I'm looking forward to it. We are having it at home on our own this year rather than visiting family on the day as it just stressed me out last year. I am being one of those parents and requesting wooden toys only this year.

S grew out of her sleeping bag and I didn't bother replacing it, so just put her under a quilt at the moment. It doesn't stay on long though and I worry she's too cold.

MerryPops · 26/09/2015 21:14

I will add to the congrats gsr!

I have started the gift planning for Christmas. As A is a complete fire engine obsessive I'm sure we will be gifted a load of noisy red plastic. We are getting him a wooden train set which will be left sat in the corner while he favours the aforementioned noise machines. Not sure where we will be yet.

A still sleeps in a sleeping bag, he rolls around loads in the night so it's required at the moment. Not thinking about big boy bed just yet.

In other news the tantrums have really ramped up in the last couple of weeks. Dh in particular is struggling as he is a sahd for the most part and his patience is very stretched. And he is naturally more of a disciplinarian than me so he gets frustrated with him easily. Still presenting a united front in A's presence but lots of discussions after bedtime about the best and most consistent way to deal with it for us. All good fun Confused

alteredimages · 27/09/2015 18:44

N won't be doing with gro bags either puggle. I had stockpiled them from the charity shop specially but the TB has refused covers from day one! I am lucky that he doesn't need covers for most of the year here, but when it is cold I just put him down in warm pyjamas with thick socks because he wakes up screaming the minute a cover is placed on him.

The cargo bike looks fantastic! I am v v jealous. I can just imagine coming back from the market in that baby. Think how much veg you could fit in that! Too good for kids, definitely.

Well done P on the new words! I can't remember whether I posted about this, but last week N decided to carry a plate round at a party Oliver style saying "foo! foo!" for food, as though MIL's opinion of my parenting skills weren't high enough already. Confused

That sounds hard Merry. We are having a similar thing parenting DD. It is so hard to keep up a united front and not to undermine each other, esp when extended family are involved.

Anyone else watching the rugby world cup? Haven't been able to keep up with all the matches but England v Wales last night was amazing!

GunShotResidue · 30/09/2015 20:01

Thanks all :)

I'm so excited for Christmas, I've already bought all of L's presents. She's got one of the red and yellow crazy coupes as her main present, found one for £30 and couldn't resist as she loves the one at playgroup. I've bought far too many little presents, I might have to keep some back for her birthday!

L's sleeping under a duvet, she loves it. Still wakes a lot, but stays lying down. Before as soon as she woke she would be standing up. I'm hoping the next step is falling back to sleep!

alteredimages · 01/10/2015 10:32

Christmas....currently ignoring, but not sure how sustainable this is. DD has picked books about Father Christmas every week from the school library since the start of term, so it is only a matter of time before she clocks that he brings presents to everyone, i.e. her too. She looooves him but so far thinks he is just a jolly old man in a red suit.

Staying lying down sounds like good progress GSR. N is on a normal bed and gets down and comes through to us. I find him jammed between me and DH every morning, sometimes with DD there too.

Swannykazoo · 12/10/2015 13:03

Looks like the thread has died - Sob! Shall we have another thread title?

alteredimages · 13/10/2015 15:05

Glad to see you here puggle, I thought I had bored you all to death. Good to see signs of life.

Yes to a new thread. Even if it ends up just us two!

How is the cargo bike going? Are you still getting to use it?

N was off nursery ill and just went back today. He always comes in ravenous, heads straight for the fridge. He is usually very thirsty too. Is this normal? Can't decide if he isn't being fed or is just a greedy guts.

BookTart · 13/10/2015 20:11

I'm still here! Good to see the thread still going.

Glad N is better altered. P also eats anything that isn't nailed down, but luckily can't open the fridge. Is it super hot where you are now? Would that explain the thirstiness?

P fell off a climbing frame yesterday Shock. The x-rays didn't show any fractures, but she can't walk or put any weight on her left leg at the moment, poor thing. It does mean that I've been able to drag her around the shops in her buggy and slob on the sofa watching films with her, so it has actually been quite nice.

I took her for a hearing test last week, which is part of finding out why she has delayed speech. It looks as though she might be unable to hear certain frequencies in one ear, but we have to go back for a repeat test in 6 months to make sure.

TL;DR: we're keeping the NHS busy Smile

Swannykazoo · 14/10/2015 08:24

Yay! I worry about thirsty too altered - H doesn't seem thirsty and seems to drink very little generally, but if I give him juice /flavoured water as a treat he'll down 250mls in minutes. Definitely not hot where we are though!

Cargo bike is immense. I'm on it most days I'm not at work. I'm even sad that I have to put it in for a "run in" service on Fri as I'm on a day off. I keep thinking about fun places to go and do and then remembering no bike...boo. We get lorry drivers waving and even a peloton of serious cyclists on a sportif gave us a big communal wave a few weeks ago.

Book hope P's leg is better soon. How are you doing with the milk ladder?

Any suggestions for new thread title?

GunShotResidue · 16/10/2015 08:46

I hope P's leg is better!

We had our first trip to A&E a few weeks ago when L climbed onto a window sill then jumped off and landed on her head. We got our own waiting room as she was recovering from chicken pox.

I have my graduation ceremony tomorrow, and I'm worrying about tripping up or L throwing a huge paddy in the middle of it! Then we're down to Devon for a week for a wedding and birthday party. Busy week!

MerryPops · 16/10/2015 15:17

Im still here too. Currently sat in Asda's car park as A is being a complete little sod sleep refuser recently so I drove him around for 20 mins to at least get some sleep out of him. How are the rest of the TBs doing on daytime naps?

Hope P is doing better book. I know what you mean about liking the down time though, A is really boisterous normally so when he is ill I feel bad for him but enjoy the snuggles!

Thread title - they will all turn 2 on the next thread I would think so something aling those lines. That's as far as my inspiration goes, been a hard week at work. Although off next week, hooray! Have a good weekend everyone.

MerryPops · 16/10/2015 15:19

Oh and have a good day at your graduation gsr Smile

GunShotResidue · 16/10/2015 18:11

Thanks Merry :)

L's pretty good at daytime naps generally. Still rubbish at night time though!

I can't believe they're going to be 2. The terrible 2 literally terrify me. DH keeps going on about them but I'm hoping L will skip that phase!

Angelesque · 16/10/2015 21:01

So...nearly... On... A new... Thread...

Grin
MerryPops · 16/10/2015 22:48

Even nearer to a new thread! I will leave the last message for someone to link to a new one as I don't know how to do it.

I've just checked the first page of the thread. It was started 5th Feb. It's scary to think how much they have changed since then, A had only been walking a week. It also shows how much busier we all are with toddlers (and in some cases more babies!) that it's taken over 8 months to fill the thread. No more thread a month for the Jan 14ers!

I wonder how they will all change over the course of the next thread? Confused

alteredimages · 17/10/2015 19:22

New thread

I feel like I just lost a game of spin the bottle and had to come up with my crap thread title!
