We're having Nando's tonight to celebrate DS's return from the wilds of Ashdown Forest in one piece.

Naturegirl82 · 24/07/2015 20:37

Oops fell off the thread. Still here just trying to get to grips with having 2! Everyone is still alive so at least that is an achievement! Smile

FelixFelix · 26/07/2015 20:33

Glad to hear you're all surviving nature Grin

Swannykazoo · 27/07/2015 10:36

I dream of Nandos! (Living in Hicksville)
The Clangers being on at 7:30am is doing nothing for my getting out of the door at 7:45.
I am now broody for a baby soup dragon

FelixFelix · 27/07/2015 11:02

Puggle I love the new clangers!

I have sorted through all of S' toys and put a few baby ones on my local FB selling page (have someone collecting some stuff today, yay!) as I need to declutter. I've got loads of huge bags of clothes she's grown out of that I was going to keep on the off chance that we ever have another, but should I just sort through and sell them? It's a bit optimistic of me thinking that it's likely I'd have another girl who will fit in the right sizes in the right season they are for Grin

Swannykazoo · 27/07/2015 13:25

Felix are you me? I have been having the very same pondering thought about my vaccuum bags of baby clothes, initially sorted and lovingly folded, more recently just shoved in. I'm thinking I'll do nothing about it for a year, then give them away, then get pregnant shortly after!

FelixFelix · 27/07/2015 13:59

Puggle I will end up sorting through them and having a 'keep' and a 'sell' pile and everything will just be kept, and I'll have wasted an hour doing it Grin might as well not bother. I can't even imagine having another baby though!

GunShotResidue · 27/07/2015 21:26

I got clothes stored away in vacuum bags by age too. I'm hoping I'll get to use them again, but DH keeps being sent away at the wrong time!

TobyLerone · 28/07/2015 09:43

I've given all the baby clothes to my sister. She is convinced that she'll have another baby soonish, and I'm definitely not having any more so it gets them out of my way!

FelixFelix · 28/07/2015 17:33

I've had a whole day child free! It's been amazing. I've been in to Leeds and had a good mooch round the fabric shop (spent a fortune!) without a TB shrieking at me. Then a wander round some clothes shops and lunch then coffee. It was glorious. S has just been dropped off back home now and has apparently been good as gold so it's win all round.

I've just sorted through all the clothes and got a huge pile I can sell and I've still got loads saved. I'm actually a bit shocked at how much clothes she had. A few things haven't even been worn Shock I guess that's what happens when it's your PFB.

GunShotResidue · 28/07/2015 18:02

L had a few 0-3 months bits she didn't wear, I bought a couple of bundles on ebay before she was born, then was given hundred of clothes by family and friends.

Getting very excited about going to Devon for a fortnight, we're not leaving until Friday and I've already stated packing!

FelixFelix · 28/07/2015 18:45

GSR I always pack super early too. And write lots of lists. At least I never forget anything (unlike DP who always forgets something really vital like contact lenses on three different occasions and pants twice!)

I forgot to say that S has been walking around much more!! She will now wander in to the kitchen and often chooses walking over crawling. I can't get her to do it outside though.

Dropped off the thread. I am still here, in Cambridgeshire until Sunday, then various parts of Wales for a week before Scotland to see my Mum.

I have been enjoying how easy it is to get out here. I can walk with a buggy! It is a revelation. I have also spent a fortune on charity shop and supermarket sale clothes. Feeling a bit guilty because I spent part of the budget for replacing DH's laptop. Argh.Blush

I think it is a Very Good Thing I don't live here full time. I would be forever buying stuff because there are always sales on! But then again I think it is because I do live abroad where clothes are more expensive (esp kids clothes) and a lot of people struggle to clothe their kids that I am buying so much. I am secure in the knowledge that everything will be used, even if hideous or the wrong size. This isn't a positive when trying not to overbuy!

We are in the village where the lady who writes Topsy and Tim lives, and the village resembles closely Topsy and Tim's village in the books. DD has noticed and keeps trying to visit random people's houses in the belief that Topsy and Tim are inside. She also heard DSM saying we could go over for tea at the author's house and will not be told that Topsy and Tim are fictional, so thinks she is off to meet them. I hate that programme!

I have been distributing all clothes as soon as N stops wearing them in the hope that this constitutes an additional form of contraception. Frankly, baby clothes can be bought second hand here so cheaply it doesn't seem worth hanging on to anything but a couple of really nice things as a memento. I also feel guilty about having things mouldering in storage when someone could be using them.

DD is enjoying the range of toys available here, and as her birthday is next week has taken full advantage. She is watching Miles from Tomorrow and has just asked for a spaceship and a spacesuit. She thinks I am just being difficult when I say those don't actually exist as seen in the programme. She lives such a sheltered life back home that to her, buying a spaceship from Tesco is an entirely reasonable proposition.

I hope you enjoy Devon GSR. I am in awe of your packing skills and organisation!

Don't worry about the extra clothes Felix. They can be sold, or if you are lazy like me, passed on. Are there any charities local to you who could use them? Sure start centres for example? I still meet people who I passed DD's baby stuff on to and they remember even four years on.

How are you getting on nature?

Naturegirl82 · 30/07/2015 15:20

I've just shoved 4 bin bags of O's clothes up in the loft. Blush will decide what to do with them all another time!

We are good thanks altered. It's been much easier getting settled as Dh is still off work which I think is also helping O to get used to things.

BookTart · 03/08/2015 19:19

Where have you all gone? Having a life isn't allowed, you know Wink

All P's clothes etc. have been either sold or given away. I tried selling some stuff at the NCT nearly new sale here, but they take such a hefty cut of your profits that it wasn't really worth the hassle. My former SIL had a little girl when P was 6 months old, so she's had a lot of the clothes which has been dead handy. Important to get rid of it all for me, to make sure DH wasn't tempted to ask for another Grin

Nothing much to report here though. DH has finally taken a week off work, but is convinced that toddlers love visiting stately homes with gardens so I've been spending a lot of time shouting "Don't pick the flowers!" at P. She's being lovely at the moment though, so I have no right to complain. Oh, except for the crapping in the bath. I could do without that really...

GunShotResidue · 04/08/2015 00:43

I hope you all have a good week book

DH has next week off, which I'm excited about. It's our wedding anniversary on the Tuesday so we're leaving L with my sister and going to our reception venue for a meal.

I know I've asked this before, but it was quite a few months ago so I'm assuming things will have changed. When are they all napping during the day?

BookTart · 04/08/2015 07:07

That sounds lovely gsr Smile

P naps once a day for between 30 minutes and an hour, any time between 11 and 3.30. Naps happen either on me, or in the car. We've had the odd day where she's not bothered at all. This is not ideal! She sleeps 12 hours at night though, so I'm not going to mess with it! Weirdly, until about a month ago she did two 45 minute naps - it all changed very quickly.

Naturegirl82 · 04/08/2015 15:25

O still sleeps for between 1.5-2 hours usually about 10/10.30. only sleeps for 10 hours usually at night though.

FelixFelix · 04/08/2015 19:24

Fell off the thread again!

S naps at 12-ish for an hour. She's a very good napper.

I've spent all day at hospital with DP as he fell off his bike on Saturday and has been in lots of pain. Been x-rayed and has a displaced shoulder or something. He's alright though. It took up my whole child free day which was meant to be spent sewing!! Annoying.

S is walking around loads now Smile I'm really pleased.

MerryPops · 05/08/2015 08:27

Hi all. I've not posted in ages although been reading and on the Fb page too. Life just been getting in the way and A is doing well, nothing really exciting to say! He naps anywhere from 11am to 2pm, for 50 mins to 1 hr 30 mins.

Felix that's great news about S! Loving the picture of her going down the slide by the way.

We are awaiting a delivery of a Mumsnet product test this morning, a small supply of Little Dish meals. He doesn't have a lot of ready meals normally, but the chance of winning a £300 love2shop voucher swung it. I already have my eye on a new 8 man tent if I win it, how times have changed!

FelixFelix · 05/08/2015 09:22

Hi Merry! I still keep looking at the picture and chuckling to myself Grin We are getting the meals to test too. I've done loads of product tests but never won the vouchers Sad

alteredimages · 06/08/2015 20:56

No life here book, don't worry. Grin. I have mostly just been chasing N around relatives' houses shouting "Nooooooo!" and being given child rearing advice about how out of control he is. He isn't really, he is just excited to discover all the space and gardens. Also, said houses have slate floors, two polished wood staircases, an open cellar and no bloody stairgates. N could also open the front door.

Have left the bright lights of Aberystwyth now for South Wales. I have discovered two fascinating things: 1. Time travel is possible. I just had a meal in a pub and I was definitely back in the mid nineties. They played S Club 7, Britney Spears, Steps, Celine Dion and Take That. Everything is served with chips, even the curries.

  1. My cousin drank a whole can of shandy when he was six months old. My aunt ascribes his subsequent sleeping through to this and has, only half in jest, suggested this as a possible solution to N's late bedtime. Cheeky shandies have acquired a whole new meaning.

Naps usually happen around 1 to 2 pm here for about an hour. This stops him sleeping before 9pm though. Angry

Off to Scotland on Saturday and then Montpellier a week later. The baggage fees are going to be fun!

alteredimages · 07/08/2015 07:39

Oh dear. Was wondering why I have been feeling so funny, and have just worked out that I haven't had ANY fruit or vegetables since Monday. Not to worry though, I have been hitting my five a day on chocolate biscuits. Blush

TobyLerone · 08/08/2015 00:22

I fell off the thread too. Too tired for much tonight so placeholding now I've found you all again!

GunShotResidue · 10/08/2015 01:22

I think the 18 month sleep regression has hit. Pretty annoyed, we only got one month of her waking up 3 or fewer times!

She got very stroppy yesterday evening, threw a straw cup full of milk at DH when he told her off and it broke, milk all over MILs floor. Put her to bed early and she slept 7-11 and she's been screaming since. Comforting her works for 5 minutes then she starts again. She's been the same most of the week, last night we tried bringing her into bed with us and she just kicked and hit us between shouting. No idea what to do, surely she can't survive long on 4/5 hours of sleep a day?
