Argh gsr that is frustrating but you seem to have been coping well and hopefully the time will fly by.

Took O to a garden party at her pre-school today. Basically a way to introduce them to key workers and to fill out forms (even though she doesn't start till Feb!) but it was fun. O loved it. The hardest part was getting her to leave!

BookTart · 08/07/2015 18:44

That's crappy gsr. I hope you're okay, you've been so strong this far and it is just a couple more days Flowers

P threw the most epic tantrum ever today. We were leaving a group at the Sure Start centre, and she refused to put down a plastic hot dog bun (plastic hot dog not included). When I wrestled it off her she went beserk - tears, screaming, shaking, the works. It would have been nice if the other mums of toddlers hadn't stared at us as if I'd just shat on the floor. One of them even insisted that she must have hurt herself somehow, because she couldn't possibly get that upset over play food Blush

FML.

GunShotResidue · 08/07/2015 19:47

That sounds like a judgmental group book!

We had to leave playgroup early on Monday as she threw about 3 tantrums in 10 minutes. She refused to sleep on the mile walk home then managed to wiggle out of her straps and stand up in her pushchair, then she threw herself backwards when I tried to grab her and I had to throw the umbrella on the floor to catch her. Luckily we were literally across the road from our house so I didn't have to struggle too long holding her, the umbrella and the rain cover she had pulled off, whilst pushing the pram.

DH thinks they might be able to make it back tomorrow, which is better. Trying to sleep in my own bed tonight. Stupidly terrified!

FelixFelix · 08/07/2015 21:54

Sorry book but I had to laugh at the hotdog bun! It reminded me that S was playing with a plastic hotdog bun sans sausage the other day and it took me ages to work out what it was Grin

Did all the other mums have younger children? I have stopped going to the group for pre-walkers now as S was the oldest by about 10 or 11 months and all the other mums seemed horrified by her Confused

TobyLerone · 08/07/2015 21:59

Ha! Book, M had exactly that tantrum today, but in the sodding LIBRARY, of all places Blush
Tiny bastards.

Good luck tonight, GSR.

FelixFelix · 08/07/2015 22:08

GSR what a nightmare! I couldn't cope if S worked out how to wriggle out of the straps in her pram. She hates it as it is! Good luck for tonight. Let us know how you get on.

FelixFelix · 09/07/2015 17:04

GSR how did last night go?

BookTart · 09/07/2015 19:54

Yes gsr, how are you doing?

felix it was a group specifically for 1-2 year olds, so I can only assume that a) their children never have tantrums, or b) Percy is the Devil incarnate.

My money is on B Grin

GunShotResidue · 09/07/2015 20:39

Last night was ok, thanks Smile I was able to stay in my room all night, although I didn't sleep until 2 am. Then L woke up at 4.30! It was tough, but I think I'm going to try it again when DH goes away for 2 nights later this month.

Swannykazoo · 09/07/2015 21:14

I remember very carefully avoiding anyone with toddlers when I was pregnant as they gave me the FEAR.....
Cargo bike ordered! I have the fear it'll be too heavy for me and I'll hate it. I'm quite looking forward to being crazy barrow bike lady though. Two weeks to wait I think

FelixFelix · 09/07/2015 22:14

Puggle heavy bikes get you super fit very fast! According to my DP anyway, who is trying to convince me to get my dream pashley with front basket seeing as though I wont ride my road bike. They are so heavy though which is really putting me off. Plus I live in the hilliest place EVER (apart from Scotland obviously Grin)

GSR that's great (apart from the 2 hours sleep!). You're definitely getting there Smile All of the small steps you're making make a huge difference in the long run.

Naturegirl82 · 10/07/2015 04:13

That's good progress gsr. Hopefully your Dh will make it home sooner than expected.

I've been in hospital the last few days. Unfortunately they think I have kidney stones although they tried to convince me I was in labour to start with!!. Just what you need at 39+ weeks pregnant! Sad

TobyLerone · 10/07/2015 08:57

Oh, nature. You poor thing Flowers

M's been up since 3am. The 18 month sleep regression can blow me. I have child protection training today. My own child needed protection from me this morning!

Swannykazoo · 10/07/2015 13:13

The sleep refusing-will only go to sleep in pram or attached to breast-H has managed to transition to sleeping on a mat at nursery with NO BOTHER AT ALL. Apparently it takes 5mins of gentle stroking and he's out like a light.
Hmmph.
I will add this to the list of things that only happen at nursery like wearing a hat in the sun, wearing a bib for food and wearing a smock to paint.
Toddlers are highly infuriating!
Nature - hope you only have a tiny stone that can pass on its own if you have to have a stone
Toby - that sucks. I hope child protection training is like nursery and features timetabled sleeping

FelixFelix · 10/07/2015 15:14

Nature how horrible! Hope you're feeling better soon Sad

Puggle it's because you're not there! S behaves wonderfully for the childminder but is a right tiny bastard for me.

Naturegirl82 · 10/07/2015 16:54

Argh my last set of bloods have come back and are obviously worse as they are monitoring baby for 30 mins and then I'm being induced! Shock

GunShotResidue · 10/07/2015 19:04

Good luck nature! I hope everything goes well.

FelixFelix · 10/07/2015 19:13

Crikey Nature!!! Good luck and keep us updated if you can.

BookTart · 10/07/2015 19:35

Ooh nature, hope you're okay. Exciting!

felix I have a Pashley Princess. It is incredibly heavy to ride and it puts me off a bit. Even when you're used to pedalling the thing, lifting it about is a killer!

I can't believe P is 18 months today. We went to an art gallery and then the beach, she had a lovely time Smile

TobyLerone · 10/07/2015 20:19

Good luck, nature!

Happy half-birthday, P Cake

M has just gone down to bed awake, without the new routine of screaming until I resort to gradual retreat again. It's like 2 weeks ago old times. If she wakes before 5am she can bugger off if she thinks she's coming into our bed.

alteredimages · 11/07/2015 02:30

Good luck nature, and sorry you have been unwell. Flowers. I had a really easy and painless induction with DD so don't worry too much about the scare stories.

The bike sounds great puggle. Hope it arrives soon so you can enjoy the elusive Scottish summer!

Happy half birthday P. My inner three year old still maintains that half a cake should be provided on such occasions.

Hope your DH is back by now GSR.

alteredimages · 11/07/2015 02:39

I am not sure Egypt is going to work out long term for DD. She has been refusing meat and sometimes fish for the past week because she doesn't think we should kill animals. MIL made the mistake of telling her that God provides animals for us to be food and DD has been going round telling all DH's quite religious relatives (in the middle of ramadan) that she doesn't like God because he kills chickens and fish who should be allowed to play, and also that fasting is a really silly idea and anyone who does it is stupid. There have been a lot of Confused faces.

She has also decided to move, alone, to the UK on the sole basis that you can throw toilet paper in the toilet there.

Swannykazoo · 11/07/2015 08:00

Congrats Nature!

FelixFelix · 11/07/2015 21:36

I am posting from bonnie Scotland Grin arrived this evening at our hotel. Staying overnight then driving the rest of the way tomorrow. Just been hiding in the bathroom waiting for S to go to sleep in the travel cot. I am really hoping she doesn't wake in the night! Luckily I have 4G signal to entertain me as I don't dare turn the TV on.

GunShotResidue · 11/07/2015 21:50

Oh dear altered! It's funny what kids pick up. I've told DH we need to so bitching about a member of family in front of L before she starts repeating stuff. I'm trying to be a better person and not bitch at all but it's failing!

I forgot to say, DH managed to get home late Thursday. He worked yesterday and today but we're going on a picnic tomorrow :)
