O has a fever. We've been told to take her to the Dr's to test for uti if she has an unexplained fever. But it looks like this might coincide with the effects of the mmr. So not sure what to do. don't want to waste the Dr's time but also don't want to risk kidney damage.

TobyLerone · 07/04/2015 08:21

Take her. Didn't she have her MMR weeks ago?

Naturegirl82 · 07/04/2015 08:33

toby mmr was only 12 days ok which fits with the symptoms we had it ridiculously late. But I rechecked the sheet and it said to take them with a temp over 39 anyway so we have an appointment later. She definitely isn't herself. We've given calpol but will check her temp again in a bit to see if it's come down at all.

TobyLerone · 07/04/2015 08:49

Ah, I knew you'd done it recently but thought it was a few weeks ago. Hope it's nothing more than that.

Naturegirl82 · 07/04/2015 08:52

Hope so. I figured I'd regret not taking her more than taking her and wasting the Dr's time so phoned first thing.

FelixFelix · 07/04/2015 09:20

Nature I'd take her if I were you too. Hopefully it's just MMR side effects.

Despite her not going to bed very easily last night, S woke once at 1am and had water in a bottle then woke up again at 3 but I left her for 5 minutes and she went back to sleep.

I need to try and stop the one wake-up she now has (it's always at around 12/1-ish) but I don't know how!

Naturegirl82 · 07/04/2015 12:53

So Dr thinks it may be a uti as she isn't showing signs of any of the other mmr symptoms. We somehow have to get a urine sample! If anyone has any tips or ideas about how to do that it would be great! We have antibiotics to start her on as well just in case.

FelixFelix · 07/04/2015 14:38

Oh bless her! Glad you ended up making an appointment now. I've read before that you can get pads from the GP to put in their nappy then they can collect a sample from that. Did they not tell you how to do it? Shock

Naturegirl82 · 07/04/2015 17:14

Felix problem is it needs to be a clean sample so anything like that wouldn't work. Dr suggested sitting her on a sterilised potty! Shock So I've got a naked O sat on my lap at the minute , potty at my feet. As soon as I feel her start to go I'll try and catch some. Definitely taking one for the team here! Dh got the easy bit of taking the dog to the beach in the glorious sunshine!

FelixFelix · 07/04/2015 17:30

GrinGrinGrin Good luck!!!

Naturegirl82 · 07/04/2015 18:38

Success! Grin Grin And even better is I didn't get weed on either! Managed to strategically place the potty between my legs and O was sat with a clear path below! Whoop! I feel I have had a successful day! Grin It's all my life seems to be about at the minute as I had to collect a urine sample from the dog last week as well! Shock

GunShotResidue · 08/04/2015 07:18

Nature well done on getting a sample, i had to try and get one from L at 6 months when she had an infection, not fun! Hope O feels better soon.

Got back from Germany late last night, DH has popped into work to pick up a car then we'll be heading down to Devon Smile

Naturegirl82 · 08/04/2015 21:06

gunshot how was L when she had the uti? We don't get the results back until tomorrow but she has been so unwell. Barely eaten the past few days and has visibly lost weight. Luckily she is drinking though. But she has spent most of yesterday and today asleep. She seemed a little perkier today so hoping the antibiotics are starting to work. Just feel so sorry for her.

TobyLerone · 08/04/2015 21:42

Poor L :(

FelixFelix · 08/04/2015 21:55

Oh it's awful when they are ill. I'm quite lucky that S has never really been properly ill (just the odd bad cold) and it sounds horrible for you and O. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

S was up three times last night and she's crying again right now. AHHHH!

Naturegirl82 · 08/04/2015 22:09

She is just so out of sorts. Not like her at all. So glad I'm off work this week so I can look after her. But we haven't managed to do any of the fun things we had planned for her which is a shame.

I've managed to get O to sleep in her own cot tonight. Past few nights Dh and I have taken turns with her in our bed. Not sure how long it will last but at least it gave me some chance to catch up on the housework.

Felix hope S settles quickly for you.

FelixFelix · 09/04/2015 09:06

Nature how is O this morning? Did she sleep well in her cot?

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 09:17

Felix she woke about 10 mins after I posted! So was another night in with me. She didn't sleep well even then though and was tossing and turning. She woke up for about an hour at 5 and has only just woken up again!

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 16:10

Results have come back clear for a uti thankfully. But O has now come out in a rash over most of her body. Assuming this is probably a measles rash from the mmr but seems a bit late for this to develop now (14 days after jabs). Did any of your LO'S have such severe reactions to their jabs. We are thinking of taking her back to the Dr's again tomorrow as she is still completely out of it.

FelixFelix · 09/04/2015 16:37

That's surprising about the UTI. If she's got the rash then I'm guessing it is a bad reaction to the MMR. Poor thing Sad

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 17:56

Just been back to Dr's and it is a reaction to mmr. Rash is a measles rash. Glad we know for sure what it is now and hopefully she should start to perk up again by the weekend. Apparently it's quite rare to react like this. Typical! Probably overreacted but at least our minds have been put at ease.

FelixFelix · 09/04/2015 17:59

At least you know what it is now and might not worry as much. It's a shame she's been ill on your week off though!

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 18:04

It is but then I would have felt awful leaving her with my MIL when she was like this. At least she has had lots of mummy and daddy cuddles this week.

Naturegirl82 · 11/04/2015 01:54

Mmmm banana flavoured baby vomit. Just what you want to be covered in at this time of the morning!

TobyLerone · 11/04/2015 07:15

Ugh. You're having a rotten time, nature :(
