It wasn't the greatest toby I can tell you. On the plus side though at least she had eaten something to throw up which is a step in the right direction. She has lost so much weight this week!

On a better note, we booked in for the work on our dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and utility room to be done yesterday. Not getting done till June but still exciting Grin

Naturegirl82 · 11/04/2015 11:33

Well it looks like on top of the mmr reaction O has cut another molar as well. Poor thing must have been feeling really crummy.

FelixFelix · 11/04/2015 19:40

Poor O Sad that's a lot to deal with at once. How is she today?

Naturegirl82 · 11/04/2015 20:03

Much better. We managed to take her swimming this morning, then she had a 2.5 hour nap and she has been up and about for the rest of the afternoon Smile She was shattered at bedtime though, but she is eating again which is great so we seem to be O over the worst of it. Hopefully she may sleep better to night.

FelixFelix · 12/04/2015 10:34

That's good, I'm glad to hear she's perked up a bit. I still haven't taken S swimming! I bet she'd love it too.

Naturegirl82 · 12/04/2015 12:12

Felix you should take her. O loves swimming. We usually take her to swimming lessons with puddleducks but it's easter so we took her to the local leisure centre which has waterfalls and waves etc. Meant she could walk in and stand up as it's a sloping entrance. She really loved it.

She's definitely much better. Slept 7.30-5.40, then in with us and slept till 7.30. Smile She's also got her appetite back and is eating mega amounts again which is nice to see.

Right -Toby - are you the baker? Someone is here cos I remember being v impressed that they'd been baking when we had teeny tiny screamy babies. Anyway -DH's 40th on Sun. I have potentially some time Mon, Tues Wed night and he's away. I'm planning a dairy and egg free sandwich cake so we can all have some. Can I make the two cakes for the sandwich bit and freeze them, then decorate them Fri? (we're going away for the weekend with little puggle) Can I freeze fondant icing when rolled out and cut into a 40 sign shape??

TobyLerone · 13/04/2015 15:08

I am a baker! Perhaps not the baker.

Yes, you can freeze the cakes. I've never frozen dairy/egg free cakes, but I can't see why not.
As far as the fondant is concerned, you don't need to freeze it. So you want to cut out the 40 shapes from fondant in advance ready to put on the cake when it's defrosted? They'll be fine just wrapped in cling film so they don't dry out.

FelixFelix · 13/04/2015 15:15

I bake too Smile Toby beat me to it though. You'd be surprised how well cake keeps in the freezer.

Swannykazoo · 13/04/2015 15:18

yippee yippee -that makes life a bit easier for the surprise element - cheers Toby

TobyLerone · 13/04/2015 15:27

I'm sure you know, but when you freeze them They need to be just as they are. No icing of any sort.

Swannykazoo · 13/04/2015 16:15

And presumably some sort of ziplock bag so they don't dry out?

TobyLerone · 13/04/2015 16:17

Absolutely. Or acres of cling film in my case.

FelixFelix · 13/04/2015 17:20

Acres Grin

I baked brownies yesterday but I'm forcing DP to take them to work tomorrow as I keep scoffing slices!

Swannykazoo · 13/04/2015 21:06

I made vegan banana choc muffins last week for nursery snack. They were ace. Tried a hybrid of boiled orange cake muffins as I had no black bananas and they're interesting, and orangey but possibly not so child friendly - would be super with cointreau splashed on them but that's maybe less ok with nursery. (and what isn't super with cointreau splashed on it I ask you)
Right, must try and get the shell edge sorted on my pal's baby blanket and then I'll have something to show for make it sew....
(I'm not stalling making the birthday cake, oh no)

FelixFelix · 13/04/2015 22:37

Puggle that sounds yummy. I have about 3 bottles of Cointreau in the garage sat doing nothing!!

I forgot about make it sew. Weirdly I've just had my sewing machine on and it stressed me out to high heavens!

FelixFelix · 14/04/2015 13:10

Can I ask what time everyones babies are napping at the moment? I've just put S down for a nap at 12 as usual, but she just screamed and cried and is still wide awake now playing with her toys in the living room. I don't know if I should push her nap back to slightly later?

Naturegirl82 · 14/04/2015 13:14

O is weird and naps in the morning about 10/11ish for between 1-2 hours.

What is everyone's approach to LO's behaviour at the moment. O knows the word no and usually stops doing whatever it is, but has started being mischievous and turns it into a game where she will go back and do it again and laugh. We are thinking of removing either the item or her from the situation to reinforce it as obviously we can't put in consequences or anything at the moment because she won't understand. We just want to find a consistent approach as I've read it's important to establish this now.

FelixFelix · 14/04/2015 13:20

Nature I'd love to know what to do too. She thinks no is funny and laughs and keeps doing the thing she's not meant to. I don't really know what else to do apart from say no and remove her from it! A bit hard when she's pinching me and just crawls over and does it again. It's her new favourite thing.

Naturegirl82 · 14/04/2015 13:28

Nice to know we aren't alone Smile . She's only really started doing it last few days but I remembered reading something about it in the wonder weeks.

Whoops phone gremlins Grin

GunShotResidue · 14/04/2015 18:23

Sorry I didn't reply before nature, we've been away so I've not been keeping up very well. I know it's irrelevant now but she had a spiking temperature that wasn't controlled by calpol and what I think was a febrile seizure, which was why we went to ooh. Hope O puts her weight back on soon.

Ls not well at the moment, she's got a bad chesty cough and cold. Her eyes are streaming and a bit sticky. She's napping loads at the minute, slept for 2 hours this morning and afternoon. Still looks half asleep. Giving her calpol to keep her temp down but not sure what else to do.

alteredimages · 14/04/2015 18:23

Glad to hear we are not the only ones with increasingly challenging behaviour. N is very cute but does not stop all day. He has an amazing capacity for repetitive and exasperating adventures. Smile

Hope O is better nature. It is miserable having a poorly toddler.

We are finally back in the flat and Easter/ Sham el Neseem is over so I can put away the Easter egg dye for another year. I made three batches of hot cross buns and Armenian Easter bread and would be happy not to see another sesame seed or sultana til next Easter. We ended up having a 14 hour nightmare of a family gathering yesterday which ended up with DD and I both having meltdowns. Still, at least I had the presence of mind not to take all the chocolate with me. Smile

N is also going dairy free. His nappies are awful and he is pooing loads. I am not sure if it is an intolerance or just teething but it is pretty awful.

Anyone else's TB clingy and permanently clamped on for breastfeeds? I would wean him but then that would be my last reliable method of getting him to sleep gone. Confused

alteredimages · 14/04/2015 18:28

Sorry L isn't well GunShot. N has been ill a few times over the past couple of months and it is horrid. You have my especial sympathy with the cough. I don't think there is much you can do for them except wiping sticky eyes and keeping her nose clear. Sad. I also had to prop N up on a pillow when he was sleeping so he could breathe and to stop him puking up phlegm. Hope L perks up soon.
