Nope. M doesn't watch TV. She's not interested in the least. Apart from The Chase :o

TobyLerone · 14/03/2015 09:00

Argh. Inviting my mum and sisters round for afternoon tea tomorrow seemed like the easy option. Now I have to make blondies, macarons and a salted caramel layer cake today. What an idiot.
At least I made the malt loaf yesterday. Small mercies and all that.

Anyone got nice plans for tomorrow?

BookTart · 14/03/2015 10:50

Good luck with all that toby! I'm sure they'll appreciate it when it is done though Smile

No plans at all for tomorrow. Last year DH didn't even mention Mother's Day, and he has told me that he'll be planting a hedge all weekend so this year looks much the same. I suspected as much, so I took P to the zoo yesterday as a pre-emptive treat Smile

TobyLerone · 14/03/2015 20:04

Macarons were a disaster. Salted caramel cake went ok until M had a meltdown and I stupidly put the icing on it before the icing had fully cooled. It all leaked out of the middle and ran off the top and down the sides and looked like an elephant turd. Then I had a strop, DH and I had a row and it was all a bit FUBAR.

Eventually we all calmed down, I managed to bodge the cake so that it looked a bit more presentable, and we all carried on as normal.

What a joyous day!

Hope you and P had fun at the zoo, book, and that DH isn't a complete douchelord has at least sorted a little something for Mothers' Day.

FelixFelix · 14/03/2015 21:54

Been away since weds at my parents as went to a wedding on Thursday. S was an angel all day even though I was so worried about her being a nightmare!

We looked at ITNG live at the Trafford Centre too but it's bloody expensive!! DP wanted to book it but I said no Grin

Naturegirl82 · 14/03/2015 21:59

toby glad you managed to salvage the cake
book hope your Dh sorts something out for you for tomorrow
Felix glad S was good for the wedding.

O has still been out of sorts today. Woke up early which threw the whole day out. Still think she isn't 100% as she's barely eaten today again, but think teeth and the start of a wonder week is not helping!

FelixFelix · 14/03/2015 23:17

Toby cake all gets mushed up in your mouth anyway so it doesn't matter what it looks like Grin

We aren't doing anything tomorrow I don't think. My Mum asked what S was getting me for Mother's Day and DP has now panic-bought me something random from Amazon even though I said no presents. No idea what it is! And it won't be here in time anyway.

TobyLerone · 15/03/2015 01:30

Excellent point re the cake, felix :o

I'm so frustrated! M woke up 2 hours ago. She was easily settled and haven't heard a peep since. But I have been wide awake since and I could cry. I'm so tired. But my nose and throat feel like they're on fire and my sinuses are full of acid. Stupid fucking bastardy hay fever :(

Call the waaaaahmbulance.

Naturegirl82 · 15/03/2015 09:09

Hope you managed to get some more sleep toby

Happy mothers day everyone.

I've been spoiled rotten this morning which was lovely. Out for dinner with Dh's family later which will be nice. Nothing else planned for the day just a walk down the beach and a coffee.

BookTart · 15/03/2015 10:11

Hope you're feeling better toby. Hayfever is an utter bastard.

As expected, no Mother's Day is happening here. It hasn't even been mentioned. I know it is daft as I saw this coming a mile off, but I'm so sad. I'm going to take P to Tesco in a bit to buy some sweets to cheer myself up with Smile

Naturegirl82 · 15/03/2015 13:33

book I'm really sorry he hasn't sorted anything out for you. I think you are very justified to be sad. Does he get his own mother something or just doesn't celebrate the day full stop?

I think I would be buying myself more than just sweets!

BookTart · 15/03/2015 15:14

He never used to get his mum anything nature, but I buy her cards from DH and P now and he writes them. I told him he was a git, so while I was out at Tesco he made a card and got P to draw in it when he got back Smile

Bambooshoots14 · 15/03/2015 16:29

Sorry life's been too hectic so haven't been able to keep up but just popping in to say happy mothers day Flowers

MrsGSR · 15/03/2015 17:33

Hope everyone's had a good day :)

Glad your DH steeped up a little bit, book. Next year mark it on the calendar in massive letters and tell him you expect at least a card and some chocolate/sweets :)

We've spent about 2 hours on Skype to our families today, which has been nice :)

FelixFelix · 16/03/2015 11:53

Happy Mother's Day for everyone yesterday.

S is doing my head in. She keeps whinging constantly and does this ridiculous fake cry. She's just done it for 2 hours straight at play group this morning. It's so exhausting!

Swannykazoo · 16/03/2015 20:10

Any leg clinging Felix? That drives me daft, especially if trying to cook/get ready

FelixFelix · 16/03/2015 20:33

Yes! Weirdly she's more clingy to DP when he's at home but when it's just me and her out and about she's horrendous. I nipped to the loo at play group and she had a full on meltdown. Apparently she looked in one of those pop up fabric tubes searching for me (we were playing with it before) Grin

TobyLerone · 16/03/2015 20:38

Oh, God. The leg clinging. Nothing annoys me more. I end up doing a weird skippy dance trying to avoid M even getting close to my legs while I'm trying to cook/wash up.

MrsGSR · 16/03/2015 23:20

We've got a stairgate on the door between the kitchen and dining room, partially because L was driving me crazy grabbing the backs of my knees whilst I was stood at the sink.

She's just woken up for the first time since 7! Last night was every half hour from 10-3am, i felt like I was being tortured as I'd just drift off and she'd scream again. I am not a good parent (or student) on 3 hours sleep...

Swannykazoo · 17/03/2015 09:45

Another little torturer here. I told DH the other day that if I ever get sent to Guantanamo they'll never break me as being woken every 30 mins and listening to endless singing kettle is par for the course.
Toby the thought of your little skippy dance has made me laugh a lot. Any chance you could video it?
I find myself doing the convict shuffle dragging the leg with a baby clamped to it while I try to move between cooker and sink to drain potatoes etc.

TobyLerone · 17/03/2015 10:25

Imagine Rumplestiltskin doing a little dance of rage while trying to avoid a swarm of bees and you've got it :o

Naturegirl82 · 18/03/2015 08:22

O decided 3am was a good time to wake up this morning Sad Sooo tired!

FelixFelix · 18/03/2015 12:16

Ugh nature sounds awful!

S has a new trick! She keeps standing up holding on to me then letting go and balancing on her own for a few seconds. Then I have to clap and cheer for her or she gets upset Grin she will only do it stood on the settee though which is weird...

Angelesque · 18/03/2015 22:54

Nature that's so rough with work... Hope you are asleep now!

Felix so cute!!! Love the egos on our little ones... Grin

Went to a bloody superb hotel last weekend for my birthday up in the lakes. They do a baby listening service... So DH and I got to have a five course meal, in a proper restaurant, with grown ups, getting a bit pissed!!! Like we're young things of 29 again!!!

Anyone else now in possession of a truly TinyBastard toddler? It's like a switch has flicked. F as of this week throws the most enormous tantrums if I commit crimes as heinous as:

  • moving a toy an inch to the right
  • gently removing my phone/hair/face from his grabbing fist
  • taking too long to change the TV channel
  • stepping out of the room for more than 1.018 seconds
FelixFelix · 18/03/2015 23:04

Yes angel!! S is absolutely horrendous. It's actually a bit embarrassing at play groups. I literally can't do anything right. Glad I'm not alone Grin

Where did you go in the lakes? Sounds fab. We go every year for August bank holiday and stay near keswick.
