tatty its my 30th birthday tomorrow and all i would really like is a full 7 hours sleepGrin dp has working 7 days for the past month so i think im just drained as i really have not had a break for a while, he's off tomorrow so he says i can have a lie in Grin

He is taking me to avimore next weekend for two nights in a log cabin as a birthday treat, my mum has the kids so really not long and we will both have a wee chance to unwind & relax so i shouldn't really complainConfused but the baby has been bloody hardwork recently due to teething etc and dd1 is a really terrible patient when she is ill Shock its just been constant crying i have heard from both of them since monday, i am normally really patient and try not to stress but this week would have tested a saints patience i thinkWink

It's all a bit doom and gloom today. Let me tell you about Valentines cards in out house to warm your hearts.

I asked my children if they would like me to buy them a card to give to someone special at school (aware DS has a 'girlfriend') and both my boys wanted a card, not my eldest daughter though.

DC5 actually asked for two cards (because "Helen is my girlfriend but I am going to marry Lois"... apparently). DS9 has a 'girlfriend' who happens to be the sister of Helen mentioned above. So spoke to their Mum about this and it would seem that my two boys will be getting valentines cards back.

Knowing that DH and I will buy each other cards and that DS5 and DS9 will be getting cards, worried that DD10 would feel left out.

DD10 is of the ewww boys camp but I think she's like the ego and self esteem boost of an anonymous valentines card. So have got her one and a work colleague of DH has written it so she doesn't recognise the writing. I've posted it in the school valentines postbox so all three of my Bigger Ones will be getting their cards in about half an hours time.

Crossed post - Happy Valentines Birthday for tomorrow Stigz

MundayCakes85 · 13/02/2015 17:05

Happy birthday for tomorrow STIGZ, I really hope you get at least 7 hours sleep tonight and maybe even a cup of tea in bed Smile

splendide · 13/02/2015 17:30

Happy birthday!

FlipFantasia · 13/02/2015 18:00

Happy birthday for tomorrow Stigz! Your weekend next week sounds amazing!

Fate how lovely about the valentines. My older dc are at the cute preschool stage where everyone gives and gets cards and they make cute stuff (my 2 year's old gift to me: a box of love aka a box she decorated and filled with heart beads...I love it!)

Sorry to hear about all the non sleeping. It's rough. I also try to ignore the phone/clock during night wakes as being aware of the time makes it worse for me I find.

Goats why are you expressing in the middle of the night? I try to stay as sleepy and relaxed as possible during night wakes (expressing makes me awake and tense lol so is the last thing I'd want to do).

ohthegoats · 13/02/2015 18:17

It's a lucky reason - child has slept too much so boob about to explode!

I have a Hop Tye mei tai from the sling library. Already love it and will be trading others in.

STIGZ · 13/02/2015 18:56

Thanks for the birthday wishes ladies (",)

Question for the mums with more than one child... Do you feel guilty when the baby is taking up most of your time and your other children are having to take a "back seat" ? My baby is really demanding just now and i feel so sorry for dd1 just now, as she is just watching tv or playing on the iPad till i find a spare moment to engage with her properly which isn't very oftenSad

Re ignoring the clock at night. I normally wear night & day contact lenses, but have a week in glasses each month before putting a new pair of contacts in. I sleep a million times better in the week of glasses and the reason is I cannot read the time on my bedside clock and so am never aware when or how often I woke up.

STIGZ It is really hard with a baby & toddler. It gets much easier when the older ones are at school or nursery, if that helps?

FATEdestiny · 13/02/2015 19:15

Is anyone else's mumsnet bookmarks not working? It's beginning to really annoy me! Grr.

Errrr2012 · 13/02/2015 19:17

Stigz I've had one of those days where I feel like I'm parenting them both badly. Baby has been chewing her arm off and super slobbery and bit wingey. Toddler has had one of his more challenging days of late (has been a bit of a superstar lately so it's been a bit of a shock to my system!) although even when he's good he demands attention so much ie come and look at this mummy, can I help mummy, play with this saxophone mummy etc!! So I usually feel like it's poor baby missing out cause she's generally quite a chilled out soul.
Today I feel frazzled by them both and was looking forward to a night with DH and a curry. He gets home 10 mins before toddler goes to bed, then gets his sports kit and I realise that it's his night off out. Ugh!!!! So I'm holding the baby no easy tea organised and I just fancied a chat!! Oh well, hopefully I'll remember next week.

tattyblue · 13/02/2015 19:51

stigz happy birthday for tomorrow. Someone gave me 30 (very posh) sausages for my 30th birthday. Best present ever, except the freezer was broken so they all had to be eaten in a week. I was practically having to shove them down the throats of strangers in the street.

fate how did the valentines go down?

Today's been great. I feel like I've got my old cheerful baby back, except she's better because she's really engaging with things. It makes the prospect of possibly having another dick of a night so much less awful when I'm not already feeling really fraught. She's asleep now though so maybe... just maybe...? Hope is such a bastard.

STIGZ · 13/02/2015 19:52

Oh err thats rubbish Sad ... I know what you mean about wanting a bit of conversation, sometimes its a long day when you have no adult company!! Does he have a day off tomorrow ?

STIGZ · 13/02/2015 19:58

Soz posted to early meant to say fate she is at nursery in the mornings but constantly complaining she is bored as she needs constant stimulation, never been a child who happily plays on her own ... First child/grandchild on both sides that has had constant attention wherever she goes. How did you dd react to the valentines card ? So cute Grin

Errrr2012 · 13/02/2015 19:59

Yes he's off for the weekend now. A chat with someone who doesn't ask you the same questions over and over and over and over and over........you get the point, would do just nicely. I'll have to wait till the morning cause I should myself and little miss will be in bed before he gets home. Happy birthday for tomorrow!

BettyJudy · 13/02/2015 22:30

Happy 30th for tomorrow STIGZ! Wishing you a peaceful and serene household and lots of cute baby giggles

Kirstipops · 13/02/2015 22:36

Happy birthday for tomorrow Stigz!

FATEdestiny · 13/02/2015 22:47

Evening

Valentines cards went down very well. DS9 came out of school holding hands with his girlfriend Shock but soon let go when they thought anyone might notice, quite sweet.

DD10 is dumbfounded. Straight around to her bestfriends house after school so that they could try to work out who it was from. She is super flattered by it all and has shortlisted four possible in her class who it might be from.

DS5 has out-done us all though. He came home with four (4) valentines cards! Grin

ohthegoats · 13/02/2015 23:14

At the current rate of 'not helping in any way and instead drinking whisky on the sofa while I run around like a headless chicken', I won't be sendingany valentine cards!

Happy birthday stigz!

Errrr2012 · 14/02/2015 07:34

Morning all! A quiet night on here! Well we've had our most 'normal' night yet. Put bambino down in her cot at 8.30 (usually sleeps on us downstairs), crept out of her room like some sort of super ninja (DH out for the evening and I was starving so no help if she woke up!), had some dinner/tv time, I went to bed at 10, fed baby at 1.45am, and she's slept till 6.30!! She's snoozi on me again now after another feed. Amazing after all the 2hrly wake ups and then the standard 4hr/2hr/2hr nights we were getting. She was exactly 4 months yesterday so this 4 month sleep regression you guys keep mentioning better not happen - we've only just got out of the newborn feed forever regression! Just need her to do it again tonight now.......

Hope everyone else had good nights?

Errrr2012 · 14/02/2015 07:36

Oh and we have a mover here!! Both wake ups she was the opposite way round to where I'd put her.

Twistedheartache · 14/02/2015 07:50

Morning all
No overnight messages so hopefully that means better sleep all round

Happy birthday stigz'- hope you get your lie in - not long to wait to get one anyway!
fate glad valentines surprise was a success. Very cute!
Know what you mean about toddler/pre-schooler being ignored - I'm trying to make sure she gets some special mummy time but it's hard! I have left her in full time nursery at the moment - v skint but good for continuity. Seems crazy to take her out just before she starts school when she's been there since she was 11 months. Really must give notice to reduce her hours though.....

I thought this one was going to be quiet personality wise coz she's so placid - not judging by the constant noise that comes out of her mouth. The cooing I cute but the shouting! So loud!

sazzlehopes · 14/02/2015 07:50

errrr with ds1 I used to sometimes slide out his room on belly for fear of treading on a floorboard and waking him. It's actually ridiculous what you do sometimes!!
So glad your night was good, hope it lasts!

And oh yesssssss we at last had a better night, he stayed asleep from when I put him to bed at 7.30 woke when I went to bed at half 10 for a feed them again around 2ish I think, trying not to clock watch them again around 4 and was a pain til 5 which is normal and then slept again til 7!! Wahoooooo. So really only 2ish wake ups as supposed to hourly ones! Long may it last....he is 19 weeks today (20 adjusted I guess) so I'm hoping we might be through the worst?!

happy birthday stigz!!

ohthegoats · 14/02/2015 08:35

Mine was awake loads last night. Just seemed really hungry - i was out with her all day yesterday so maybe she didn't get fed as often as she does when we're at home. Boo.

I have a question for those of you who have them in a cot - do they move around loads? Rolling over andastuff like that? Does it wake them up?

MundayCakes85 · 14/02/2015 08:41

Yay Sazzle and Ned! Bet you feel better this morning. Fingers crossed this is the start of something.
Since dropping the dream feed E's gone from waking at 3 to 5ish so much better Grin
Off to get some photos done of her today. Happy Valentines Day everyone x
