Toddlrt??Confused toddler obviously!

RudyTuesday · 29/03/2015 05:43

Hi all - intrigued by your weaning stories. I haven't started (ds will be 6 months on Fri so it's imminent). I think I'll start on pureed carrot - is blw when they are given finger food? That scares me but maybe I'll relax a bit once puree goes down his gullet ok. I already panic if he coughs when he crams his fist in his mouth.

Still no rolling here. I'm probably at fault cos I don't put him down much. When he is put down he is very keen to sit up, and has managed to sit by himself for a short while. I'm also rubbish at doing tummy time cos he gets in a tizz. I find the days whizz by and it'll be bedtime when I think "I should have done x today".

ohthegoats · 29/03/2015 09:14

Everything totally to shit here!! Last three nights she just WON'T go to sleep at bedtime. Well, will go to sleep at 7 like normal... awake within 45 minutes and MASSIVE SCREAMING for hours at that point. She's not been a screamer really, so it's a bit odd. Wide awake still at 9. Last night we didn't even try to get her to sleep at that point, and brought her out to play - then woke her up this morning at 7 (grumpy!) in the hope that she might be tired by 7 tonight. HAHAHA. Urgh.

Also doesn't really want to be out of my sight - lots of crying about that too. I've given up and just put her in the sling the whole time, even though I've been doing things like putting shelves up. Health and safety disaster.

Friend of mine has just had her baby at 27 weeks pregnant though, and he's obviously pretty ill, so trying to feel grateful for my extremely loud and shouty but healthy baby.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 29/03/2015 10:18

Flowers for your friend goats hope everything goes well for her and baby.

Greenstone · 29/03/2015 11:33

Your poor friend and baby goats. How scary.

My baby is doing same as yours. Ridiculous.

Buttwing · 29/03/2015 14:05

Oh no goats everything crossed for her and her little one.

Yeah maybe leaving dp with all four of them would be a good idea! He's quite good at home with them but still hasn't ever taken the four of them out anywhere on his own. When I've suggested it he's just said "what, all four of them?!" Err yes dear we do have four children time and it's what I have to do all the time.

Just bed to see Cinderella with the dds it's brilliant if anyone has older ones really recommend it :)

Buttwing · 29/03/2015 14:06

Hmm not sure where that extra time came from!

FATEdestiny · 29/03/2015 16:54

I always slightly dread going on holiday. We go for the benefit of the children, never ever a holiday for me and DH. Ever. Which I miss a lot, but I am sure holidays being about me and DH will come back, in time.

Converse others though, my DH takes sole charge of all the children in his stride. He's always more 'up for' holidays than I am. That's mostly because it's just for a week so he relishes the challenge. Rather than me, I just see the chore of it all

STIGZ · 29/03/2015 20:26

Aw goats what a worrying time for them Sad hope everything works out for them

Well i have canceled operation "big cot" poor dd has persistent cough and i just cant face leaving her by herself, am i being pathetic ? I have Just put vic on her feet to see if it helps ? Think a trip to the docs tomorrow if it doesn't improve.

Am I right in thinking that our October babies won't get the meningitis vaccine?

FlipFantasia · 30/03/2015 01:34

Goats sorry to hear of your friend and her baby. Positive thoughts for her and her baby. It is a long road ahead (one of my closest friends had her little one at 29 weeks last year and got her home a few days before her due date). Makes me so grateful for my kids.

Butt he's got to take all four out! This is one of my bugbears. My husband is great, super hands on etc. But expects a fecking medal when he takes all three out. And I'm like yes, big deal, I do it all day every day and never get a pat on the back. Can be really annoying! Especially as 3 under five is hard (I've now got a 3 year and a 5 year old since birthday season has passed...was glad to move out of the 3 under 5 category!!). I like holidays, but only cos they usually involve travelling to ireland to see family!

MundayCakes85 · 30/03/2015 04:28

Morning all, tough night so far. Currently sat hiding at the side of DD's cot stopping the leg banging Sad
Goats I hope your friend and her baby are ok- must be such a scary time.
Also in awe of you Mums with baby + toddlers. How do you get any time to sleep?!?

sazzlehopes · 30/03/2015 11:37

Back to the shit nights last night. Oh well...I'm blaming the clocks.

Rudy don't worry about crawling or rolling. My first ds1 didn't do much of either until he was about 8 months. He hated tummy time so I think that's why. He did however learn to sit really well which personally I prefer to the far too early crawling ds2 I have now!
And the weaning thing, didn't do BLW with my first. too worried about choking, but generally being more relaxed this time I've done it and it is worrying at times, but they seem to have an amazing gag reflex and stuff just comes back out randomly....it is however REALLY FRICKING MESSY!!!!!

Goats thoughts for your friend. I saw such tiny babies when N was on scbu and they looked so fragile. Hoping the road is smooth for them.

butt my OH wanted to book a camping holiday this year in england for us and taking 4 year old and baby. I said only if luxury camping not actual tents. He couldn't work out why that would be. I tried to explain england = rain + wet ground + crawling baby + mummy + no hot showers + whinging from ds1 + a baby that likes to wake all the time at night still = really miserable mummy. We compromised....fancy glamping on Isle of White. Hot showers, cooker and actual beds. Even if it rains all week at least I'll be warm and comfy at night!!

STIGZ · 30/03/2015 17:00

Shit night last night here aswell, also blaming the clocks sazzle Hmm

It has been so wet & miserable here the whole weekend and that light period i said i had, has turned into a heavy one thats lasted over a weekShock so i feel a bit yuck and my dodgy pelvis aches at time of the month, can you tell I'm on my period? The constant moaning is a bit of a give away eh ?

RudyTuesday · 30/03/2015 17:29

Thanks sazzle he sounds like he's doing the same as your ds1 - he loves to sit up and howls at tummy time.

Buttwing · 30/03/2015 20:50

Hmm maybe I should just bite the holiday bullet, but with some ground rules ie I don't end up doing bloody everything! Dp suggested my mum flying out for a few days but I'm not sure.
flip hols to visit close relatives would be much more fun always a pair of hands to hold a baby.
Dd1 was desperate to go to Ireland when she was in reception. She came home from school one day saying she wanted to go to Ireland in the summer hols as loads of people from her class were going (catholic school in a big Irish community) I think she thought they were all going to the same place all together. She didn't want italian family anymore she wanted to have family in Ireland! She got quite upset about I felt bad I couldn't magic up any Irish relatives Grin

So sazzle took your advice and tried babywing with some baby rice much more successful no sick lots of spitting out and face pulling but I can cope with that. Will take it really really slowly I think.

ohthegoats · 30/03/2015 22:18

I've refused to go on a self catering holiday - boyfriend likes to cook, go to the markets in other countries etc. But that would just mean that I'd spend the week washing up. As a result we won't be going on holiday!

My child just won't sleep - during the day or at night. Going to do sleep training, I'm over it.

MundayCakes85 · 31/03/2015 08:19

Morning all. Really surprised the wind didn't disturb E more, it definitely woke me up!
Went to the Oceanarium yesterday, she loved looking at the turtles and big fish. Think we enjoyed it more Grin

BettyJudy · 31/03/2015 09:15

goats i recommend a bit of sleep training it really worked for baby betty who is a fab sleeper again. Pick one you like the look of and use your own instincts to tweak it and give it a go.

We're going to Alnwick this weekend - aaah lovely Barter Books (if only had time to read books now) - and we're staying in a hotel. Am already thinking up problems of not having proper kitchen facilities to hand... So yep, holidays are just basically relocating all your shit to another location when you're a mum, I guess!

BettyJudy · 31/03/2015 09:17

I LOVE oceanariums Munday! So beautiful and un-earthly

BettyJudy · 31/03/2015 09:19

sazzle i reckon glamping sounds the way forward. Full report when back please!

YellowWellies · 31/03/2015 12:54

Betty I love barter books!

We're off to a wee farm cottage in Tuscany (too small to call a villa!!), a pool, a vineyard, farm animals, a playground, sitting on the terrace on a warm night with a glass of wine = bliss. Yeah its more stress with kids (especially with food allergies which presents its own special ball ache) but its fun too.

FATEdestiny · 31/03/2015 13:11

We have the dilemma of fitting 7 people (we always take one of the grandmas) plus all our luggage into the car.

We've always done it with a roof box but this year we are borrowing a trailer too.

Sazzle - we are off to the Isle of White too

Buttwing · 31/03/2015 20:20

Wow it's quiet on her today, hopefully everyone has well behaved and sleeping babies!

yellow that sounds amazing part of the problem of our holiday is we like to go out to nice restaurants and eat which is fine when we were doing it with the two girls but I can just imagine the horror on the waiters face when we rock up with a double buggy and four kids thre of them very little! Dps argument is well they will be asleep in the buggy Hmm really dp are you sure about that? Or will they be absolute horrors because they are over tired and grumpy from the sun?!

Quote of the week from dd2(4) when we were practicing letters "mummy n is for knackered isn't it?" Blush hmm can't think where she heard that word...

STIGZ · 31/03/2015 20:58

Buttwing i know what you mean about the stresses of holiday, i constantly worry about them being to hot, do they have enough suncream, fighting about keeping hats on etc. The sun just takes out it my first dd so the last couple of holidays i was in the apartment most of the day while she napped "most of the day" Hmm

My mum, dad and brother are away with us this year so i really cant complain as their will be plenty of help but i just worry too much about all the above ... I will never know how kids from hotter climates survive the heat safely Wink.
