Thanks ladies. Chocolate and a nap solves everything! DP goes back to work on Weds and is away for the night so I think that's been in the back of my mind. We'll be fine though I'm sure!

puggywug81 · 08/04/2014 06:39

Glad ur feeling better Comms. I'm sure you'll cope really well, it's just the fear of the unknown isn't it. Thanks

FrankelandFilly · 08/04/2014 07:01

You'll be fine Comms, I was scared about DH going back to work too as he lives away during the week, but we're into week 2 now and finding our feet!

Mummytobe2014 · 08/04/2014 10:15

Hi all, its been two weeks since Jack was born and im just feeling more human so thought id join the thread and tell u about my birth.
It didnt quite go to plan lol...spent 3 days being induced and my cervix showing no signs of change atall! 3 pessaries later and doc finally said enoughs enough weneed to break ur waters or go for c section so i was moved over to labour ward and they managed to break my waters, had my epidural put in and the drip to start contractions...and waited. Contractions started and they seemed close together and i felt alot of pressure but after examination was only 2cm lol...anyway through the night Jacks heart rate kept dropping so they had to put a monitor on his head and also take bloods from his head twice to make sure he was happy all the results came back ok, then my bp and temp shot up and they rushed me to theatre for section. Was the most scariest thing i had ever done...when he was born he was so quiet and no one was telling us anything but turns out he is just a laid back boy! He arrived 15 days late at 7:16am 25/3 weighing 9lb 7...he is gorgeous.
I was breast feeding but not producing what he needed so for the first 5 days he was very unsettled and screamed at night but now on formula he is happy and very settled. He lost weight initially but is now 9lb 10 so all is well.

Congratulations to all who have had babies in the last two weeks Thanks

mrsmugoo · 08/04/2014 12:29

Breastfeeding issues sorting themselves out, blocked duct gone, cracked nipple healing.... and now.... C section scar spit open and sore. It's one thing after another!

Dealing with all of the above on sleep in increments of 1.5 hours. Yay motherhood BrewBrew

EmFlat · 08/04/2014 19:14

Congratulations Mummy! What a pain-in-the-arse birth experience, but I wonder if you're finding it's already starting to be a distant memory? So glad you're both well Grin Sending loads of love.

Also sending the same to you, Comms - some days (three weeks in!) I still hate when DH goes to work Hmm. But it really does get easier... and then worse again so you feel you're going backwards... and then easier the next day.

HmmHmmHmm Mrs... stupid bloody problems setting you back constantly. Hope they've got your scar sorted?

Mummytobe2014 · 08/04/2014 20:51

Hi Em, not sure its quite the distant memory i wld like it to be just yet but it does help when i look at my beautiful little guy Smile
I went home the day after my section and jst found out i lost alot of blood and should be taking iron supplements so that maybe why i was feeling even more shitty than i should have been.

Comms i was petrified of my dp going back to work even though my mum was taking his place i still hate him leaving in the morn but i know i will be ok...my mum is back to work tomorro but will be here in the afternoons to help out with the hse etc but i know how u feel xx

Vikkijayne2507 · 08/04/2014 21:06

emFlat I am 2 weeks in and really hate oh going to work.

James had drs appointment yesterday as did I. He's put on 200 grams in 1 week so now just over 6lbs was born at 5 lbs 7 oz dropped to 5lbs 5 so very pleased he's also grown a cm.

its his due date tomorrow and he's starting to have some attitude and let's me know he's hungry. He's started to refuse to sleep in his crib only with me or oh. I take it as a good thing he's able to tell me but it's exhausting

puggywug81 · 10/04/2014 03:39

Hello ladies, hope you are all well.

I am typing this with Finlay attached to my boob which seems to be his permanent home, he can't seem to go more than an hour and a half without wanting a feed, sometimes 3 short feeds in 1 hr. It's so tiring and frustrating, OH is snoring next to me and I'm so jealous I want to punch him!

Mummytobe2014 · 10/04/2014 09:02

Hi puggy i know how u feel. I am ff but was up every two hrs last night changing and feeding whilst dp appeared to be sleeping nicely! When i was breastfeeding i couldnt put Jack down he wld scream and scream so ff is definately an improvement Smile

onceipopicantstop · 10/04/2014 10:07

Hi all am still in process of switching from bf to ff. He's having 2 bottles a day at the moment. Am finding it difficult to wean from demand feeding onto bottles though as no set feeds times if you know what I mean? This morning he got himself into a right state whilst I prepared his bottle - had only bf an hour before anyway - so by the time I had his bottle prepared he only took 20ml and fell asleep! Am wondering if I need to stop bf more quickly? If you've switched from bf to ff how did you do it?

Mummytobe2014 · 10/04/2014 12:25

Hi once, i only breast fed for five days so i jst stopped and moved him to formula.. I am struggling to get him to drink today :-( he jst chews the teat and because he is hungry he wont settle and keeps crying for food.

onceipopicantstop · 10/04/2014 12:51

Bfing is becoming more difficult. I think the bottle has confused him. He's on and off the breast, like he's wrestling with it! And I dont think he's as satisfied. I guess my milk is drying up. May have to add further ff in a bit quicker I think.

Mummytobe2014 · 10/04/2014 14:14

You may be right that ur milk is drying up, cld u just feed formula from now on? I dnt know what effect that wld have on your milk etc but if he is confused it maybe time to just switch fully??

onceipopicantstop · 10/04/2014 14:30

You're probably right! Have been taking it slowly to avoid being uncomfortable, and because I've been a bit resistant to stopping bfing! It's a decision out of my control unfortunately. Am finding ff a bit of a faff- much easier to just whip out a boob! But just need to get a bit more organised I think. Have been using dr Brown's bottles but finding them fiddly to put together so might switch to another brand.

onceipopicantstop · 10/04/2014 14:32

By the way how old is your little one and how many feeds are you doing each day?

Mummytobe2014 · 10/04/2014 16:39

We use dr brown too and yes bottle feeding is definately a faff and one of the reasons i wanted to breastfeed but unfortunately just wasnt working.
My lo is 14 days old so still very new lol how about your little one?
At the moment he has 120ml bottles and averages 8/9 bottles a day Shock sounds such a lot for such a little guy lol well he is just shy of 10lbs now i wld prefer he had bigger bottles less times a day but 120ml seems to be his limit but he only has a small tum i guess Smile

onceipopicantstop · 10/04/2014 21:34

Ds is 4 weeks tomorrow. He was 10lb born, 12lb when weighed last week! He's taking 120-150ml each feed at the moment, although over an hour usually.

Vikkijayne2507 · 11/04/2014 00:22

hi puggy i currently have James attached to my boob been here almost an hour I really want to sleep but I can see and feel him drinking he's just wanting to eat every 1 and half to 2 hours again like the first week. We had a few days of 3 hours but no more. He's putting on weight and has grown so i guess he needs it. He was and is small so is playing catch up

commsgirl · 11/04/2014 03:40

C is two weeks old and takes 3 - 4oz every 3 hours. We we're mix feeding from the start so I just cut out breast feeding completely when we decided to switch to just formula. Had a very uncomfortable couple of days but things settled down pretty quickly. We've bought the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine which makes life a lot easier when you've got a baby screaming for a bottle at 2am!

We survived our first couple of days without daddy and it was much easier than I thought. Feeling pretty proud of myself and a lot more relaxed now I know I can do it. Plus he missed C so much he completely took over this evening so I've even managed to paint my nails :)

EmFlat · 11/04/2014 03:55

Heheh, nice to hear, Comms! Smile So there can be normality once you're a mum Wink

We've still got a slightly colicky Ben, but are learning to just cope with it. The Avent bottles with comfort formula and 3m+ teats seem to be working for now, plus Infacol and the odd bit of gripe water when needed. He'll be 6 weeks on Monday so I hope the 'peak' comes and goes soon! Full-on screaming last night, we tried everything from nappy-changing to a late stroll in the pram then a bath Confused But now he's ok, wolfed-down 4oz just now and fell asleep. Happy days.

MIL is here next week, first time she'll have seen her first grandson! Can't wait to see her Grin genuinely. She's taking Ben for a couple nights so DH & I can celebrate our first anniversary and then his birthday the week after... love her Smile

karamcleod · 11/04/2014 20:38

Not been around much, sorry!
Would just like to apologize to the Martians from the Facebook group, I'm sure at least one of you will read this and let the others know.
I'm feeling much more positive after my near break down at the start of this week.

Sending big kisses and hugs to all the lovely Martian babbies :)

puggywug81 · 12/04/2014 00:55
