last night James slept in between feeds I was shocked he's been a bit off today tho. wanting sleep a lot spat up some milk ate some more afterwards. he didn't eat much at 8pm abdt been asleep since but he's stirring now so he is hungry om guessing growth spurt dying down

puggywug81 · 13/04/2014 06:26

I think they just have good ans bad days, or at least Finlay seems to. Yesterday he was sick 3 times, 2 of them after his bath, but today no sick but he wad really restless uptill about 10pm, refusing to go in his moses, but he's in.there now fast asleep making lovely little baby noises. I hope James has a more settled day today Vicki. Thanks

EmFlat · 13/04/2014 10:51

Exactly, Puggy! This would explain why I'm still struggling to understand Ben's unpredictability... he's just having a bad day, but his complaining about it is much louder and more annoying than most grown-ups Wink

Vikkijayne2507 · 13/04/2014 11:48

a bit of a messy night James eating regularly but not sleeping in his cot. in the end I was near tears in tiredness after feeding for an hour or so oh took him he was searching a bit for food but i think he started using for comfort. oh took him to living room and they napped in there and I slept for an hour before his next feed which was much better but James wouldn't go down in his cot he then went really red and stiff and oh felt he was choking a load of snot came out and panicked oh took James for a bath mainly to make him scream he did but we could hear he was a bit blocked eventually he cleared himself and had a proper cry he then fed and is now asleep on me he didn't eat for as long as he did but he's waking when hungry every 3 hours and still have pooey and wet nappies

puggywug81 · 14/04/2014 03:11

Aww Vicki and Em hope you both have a better day today. Fin is having a very restless night unfortunately.

Mummytobe2014 · 14/04/2014 07:18

Jack is having a restless night too, well had a restless night and hasnt finished one bottle which isnt helping hin sleep! Its so frustrating when it seems to just happen out the blue although we had a long day out yesterday so cld be that!! Heres hoping for a good day Smile

EmFlat · 14/04/2014 10:58

Ah the joys of motherhood! Ben was a little bugger for Daddy last night but has been fine this morning... sigh. I'll pay for it, no doubt Wink

Mummytobe2014 · 14/04/2014 14:24

Its nice (in a way) knowing i am not alone especially during the night, sometimes nightime feels so lonely if that makes sense. Jack remains unsettled today not finishing his milk and only sleeping an hour before wanting food! Not sure why its changed as we were doing so well.
Hope your having a good afternoon Em

puggywug81 · 14/04/2014 15:04

Hello ladies, hope you are all well.

Finlay had his hearing test today and everything is fine which is great, unfortunately im falling apart a bit, my epesiotomy hasn't healed so I'm left with a gaping hole, pun intended! I have to take pain killers, wear massive sanitary towels during the day and only wear skirts no tights - my legs are so hairy! At night I've got to keep it exposed and sleep on an old towel, argh!

Mummytobe2014 · 14/04/2014 16:03

Oh no puggy that sounds awful, did they say why it hasnt healed? Lol to hairy legs mine are at their worst Shock
I have had enough of wearing towels now but think my bleeding is coming to the end thankfully but i feel your pain having to wear them Sad
My c sectiom wound has an infection so off to get anti biotics tomorrow so hopefully it will be better by weekend.
Glad to hear Finlays hearing test went well Jack had his last week and all was good.

We had Jack on comfort milk as we thought he was suffering wind but realised he wasnt so moved him to regular formula, same make and he keeps being sick. He has just brought up what he drank, what should we do?? Any advice gratefully received.

puggywug81 · 14/04/2014 18:12

Hi Mummy sorry to hear about Jack's troubles I'm afraid I can't offer any aadvice just hand holding and hugs.

Midwife thinks my stitches dissolved before the wound could knit together.

Mummytobe2014 · 14/04/2014 18:25

Thanks Puggy hand holding appreciated Smile

Im wondering whether to move him back to comfort milk, i dnt want to mess around too much but am concerned its only happening since changing! Hmmm its so hard to make the right choice.

Oh thats a bugger then, hopefully everything will start to heal for you. Keeping it exposed will help the healing process though...

EmFlat · 14/04/2014 20:57

Oh Puggy, I'm so sorry for you! HmmConfused Man, I hope the healing picks up the pace from here xxx.

Mummy, how many days ago did you change types of formula? It can take a good few days for their little tummies to get used to - well - anything! So ring the HV and see what she says, I reckon... maybe you could put him back on the original type, since it's the same make? All I know is to not change makes of formula once you've changed once...

Mummytobe2014 · 14/04/2014 21:17

Hi Em, we only changed on Sat. I think we will stick the new one out for a few more days and hope that he settles! Its the same make still and hopefully we will see an improvement over the coming week.
I have seen that some people use two different formulas at the same time so im hoping it wont cause too many issues if we need to change back!
Its so hard to know whats best!

Vikkijayne2507 · 14/04/2014 23:10

I have stitches that won't heal they got Infected and uts still sore I dunno if infection has cleared up or not going to see nurse Wednesday been taking anti biotics all week to see if there's an improvement but my bleeding has stopped been 3 weeks ago today so there is light at end of tunnel

EmFlat · 14/04/2014 23:30

Exactly! Far too much contradictory information, too Wink I'm taking my sister's advice as she's been through the same recently.

commsgirl · 15/04/2014 02:11

Poor little C has hiccups and is not too happy about it! She's normally fairly easy to settle in between night feeds but I'm sensing tonight may be different!

Mummy C was sick a few times in the first two days we FF only, HV said it was just her tummy getting used to the change. Might be the same for Jack? It's so hard to know what's best! Give them a ring if you're worried. I hope your infection clears up quick too.

Puggy so sorry about your stitches, sounds painful! I hope they start healing speedily from here Wine

Hope everyone's doing well :)

puggywug81 · 15/04/2014 04:03

Aww thanks everyone.

Sympathies to Vicki on the stitches front.

Hope everyone is having good feeds and a settled night tonight.

Mummytobe2014 · 15/04/2014 12:12

Thanks comms he hasn't been sick on a feed since yesterday afternoon, he has brought some up but I wouldn't say it was sick so that's promising. He hasn't pooed for 24 hours but he didn't when he went from breast to formula so we are on poo watch lol, he remains unsettled and I am really hoping to get things back on track soon!

Wishing those with infections a speedy recovery Smile

your so right Em everywhere you look has different guidelines or peoples experiences which is always different and contradictory - guess you just have to go with your instinct sometimes!?

EmFlat · 15/04/2014 14:03

Stressing right out here - anyone else's LO just having a damned bad day? Ben's crying any time he's not asleep, and he's barely doing the latter.

Changed him to Colief yesterday after Infacol - worried this has made everything worse?! Anyone else have experience with this?

mrsmugoo · 15/04/2014 14:04

How is everyone? DS is 5 weeks tomorrow and the purchase of a bouncer has changed my life! He also dropped off to sleep in it all by himself for the very first time. We are so getting little smiles - waiting for a proper cheesy grin though!

Still only getting rare 3 hour stretches at night - 1.5 or 2 are more typical. I'm waiting for the opportunity to start bottles of EBM at night but I bloody hate that breast pump - it reminds me of the horrible first week where he wouldn't latch and I was horribly engorged - we've come a long way!

FrankelandFilly · 15/04/2014 14:31

Em we've been exactly the same! E is 5+1 and yesterday morning just started having epic meltdowns out of nowhere. She's been the same this morning and I've been in floods of tears convinced I'm a crap mother for not being able to calm her down. I ended up taking her for a drive and then a few hours later for a walk in the pram. I've come to the conclusion that she's been over tired/ over stimulated so am now instigating the Baby Whisperer routine and using a dummy to settle her for naps. She's actually been asleep in her carry cot for just over an hour, which is almost unheard of lately! I'm hoping giving some structure to her day us going to make things easier for both of us.

Mummytobe2014 · 15/04/2014 14:46

Oh Em i hope your ok, stay strong. Jack has started screaming during feeding and not sleeping properly and i think he is feeding for comfort rather than hunger. We had a good routine but its gone to shit so i know how you feel. I havent heard of colief but its one of those things isnt it, im wondering whether changing his milk has upset him but in reality maybe they r just having a bad few days!? Confused

Mrsmugoo, my lo is three weeks today and im convinced he smiles when i talk to him..
What sort of bouncer did you buy? We have one that vibrates but we r yet to use it, perhaps i need to get that sorted!

Can i ask you ladies where you put your little ones to sleep during the day? Do you put them upstairs to sleepor keep them downstairs with you? I was putting Jack upstairs until the afternoon so i can get on with stuff but feel guilty that he isnt with me, if that makes sense!?

Hi Frankell, do you only use the dummy for naps? What about nightime? Will they become dependant on the dummy? Sorry for all the questions but i have been toying with the dummy idea but dp isnt keen

mrsmugoo · 15/04/2014 14:58

The bouncer is from mamas and papas - nothing fancy it's just beige with stars on. It does vibrate although I've not put batteries in yet.

DS sleeps on a pile of folded blankets in the corner of the L shaped sofa in the day as I can't get him in the modes basket! Today he's asleep in the bouncer though.
