I expect it will be quiet in here for a while with only four Martians born so far and it not even being March yet Smile

Those who have popped so far:
Coolhand
Dabarai

Our ante natal threads seem like a lifetime ago. Can't believe the mini Martians are 18months now and Kate's been a big sister for 2 months... Shock

Oh, and Pram is pregnant with baby number 2, conceived naturally. She's about on MN.

It's been a long time since I last posted here. Thanks for asking about my restaurant, Magpieblue. It's going ok. Would have been better if we hadn't faced so many ordeals just after we took it over, my brain tumour being one of the worst, but DP is working his arse off to make it a success. Adem, my Martian mini, is 18 months now and has been walking since 10 months. He's just starting to grasp language and can say "oh dear" and "all gone". That's pretty much it. But he's beautiful and funny and adorable.
Martians still going strong on Facebook with 46 members but we can't add anyone new now, unfortunately.
Hope you and your minis are all well. x

Nobody??

Harrumph. This is like the time I went to a comedy gig and was supposed to be there with four friends, except every one of them had an emergency and none turned up and so I sat near the front in a row all on my own.

Hi EmFlat. I'd like to know who else is here too. I want to know how Pram's getting on, and how Lyra's restaurant is doing. I didn't join the FB group at the time it was being set up as I wasn't on it, but I've caved and joined - FB that is, don't know if I've left it too late to join the group? Can't remember who was organising it. If they ever read this, can you let me know!

DD is standing loads and desperate to walk, though can't yet. Babbling lots, and so far has two words - daddy and cat. So I'm the only one in the house she doesn't have a word for - harrumph. But she has started hugging me, which is beyond lovely. Kisses too more likely bites

Questions: where is the Martians 2014 Facebook group and how do I find it?
Who else is here?? Frankel, Ice, MrsMugoo... so many more to remember :) how are you all doing??

Love, EmFlat & Benedict xxx

Hi people. It seems like a lifetime ago that I created this thread.

My little Martian, Adem, is doing great. He's now started walking, which is a bit terrifying.

The Martians group on FaceBook is very busy and we have 46 members. It's a shame more of you didn't join it.
Hope your little ones are all doing well.

Hello all, glad to see some of the Martians are still around! Can you believe we're rapidly approaching the 1st birthdays???? Shock

DD is doing great, started crawling on New Year's Eve and we're now up to 4 definite teeth and 2 others looking very imminent! She's in nursery 1 day a week at the moment, stepping up to 3 days from next month when I go back to work properly - a scary thought?

Mrsm, we're talking about TTC soon too. It took us 3 years and fertility treatment to finally get DD and it looks like my problems (PCOS) haven't resolved so it's likely I'll need more treatment if we want another one. I've spoken to the fertility clinic who have said that thankfully we are eligible for more NHS treatment in my area as my treatment (not IVF but not far off it) is funded even if you have children already. Our plan is to start TTC ourselves in the spring and then get a referral to the clinic if it doesn't happen within 6 months.

We are still around. No crawling here but wiggling around on his bottom when sitting, think he will be a bottom shuffler. Four top teeth, and one plus a second almost through at the bottom. Down to three breastfeeds a day, def plan to change to cows milk at a year but we still have the snuggly morning and night feeds. Mostly sleeping through the night (though a bit disrupted recently because we went away for new year). Definitely boredom problems though, need to be more organised and do toy rotation but we try to get out a lot. Definitely not thinking about another one anytime soon - v brave!!
Work plans not entirely clear yet - have put in flexible working request and waiting to hear.

What has happened to everyone?! I'd love to hear how some of the familiar names on the antenatal threads are doing. I realise I never post, but still...

DD is crawling at speed and as of last week pulling herself up to stand. She never stops moving. Trying to put a nappy on her is like wrestling a rottweiler. Never slept through the night but I gave up getting up in the night some time ago and now we bed share so I barely notice her waking and latching on - honestly, I'm like a sow, just lying there, with my suckling piglet. Still BFing at 9 months, and no plans to stop maybe when she's 16 since we got the hang of it after a difficult start. We did baby led weaning from six months which has been really good, except she won't let anyone spoon-feed her. On the whole it's really great, though I have lots of days when I wonder if she's bored (and sometimes I am).

Wow Mrs Mugoo, plans to TTC! My birth memories and the really stressful early months are still a bit fresh for me I think.

Any other Martians about?

Resurrecting!

Any Martians still about?

DS is just short of 9 months now - crawling and cruising but not a single tooth!

Finally seems to have "got" food and is down to about 4 milk feeds a day - using formula in a sippy cup (never accepted a bottle, ever) ad hoc now, mainly still breastfeeding though.

Not feeling as emotional now about breastfeeding as last week we swapped our bedtime routine around so last feed of the day is before bath, and DH does the bath and putting down for sleep. He seems to have dropped the first thing in the morning feed in favour of going straight to breakfast so we no longer really have any "snuggly" feeds - they're all pretty wham, bam, thank you mam. So feel like breastfeeding is phasing out...which I'm fine with because periods are back and we want to TTC in the spring!

I'm back at work too and really enjoying it!

Sleeping through the night finally - going 8-7 which is heavenly.

How is everyone getting on?

Cant sit properly yet tends to just sorta it for a few seconds then dive for feet and eat them. Using sock ons very handy keeps them on longer than 2 mins. Have been weaning for a few weeks only a bit of pureed fruit and veg once a day and now a bit of cereal. He likes it will be 6 months next week.

really wants to crawl now starting to get knees up but gets upset quickly.

commsgirl · 01/09/2014 18:35

Just about sitting here and absolutely desperate to crawl but making do with rolling everywhere instead!

Going to start BLW at some point towards the end of this month/beginning of Oct.

She was suffering quite badly with teething but that seems to have eased for now. No sign of any teeth!

Hope everyone is doing well :)

FrankelandFilly · 31/08/2014 12:40

We're still here! No teething yet but we can now roll back to tummy and tummy to back, but only in one direction. DD can also sort of sit up if I put her hands on the floor between her legs, but I don't think that really counts Grin

I'm moving DD into her own room tonight, eek! I'm also going to start baby led weaning in the next week, she's already had a nibble on a piece of cucumber and seemed to like it so we'll see how things go. I'm going to take her to be weighed and measured on her 6 month birthday, as it coincides with the weigh in clinic.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

muddling along here 5 months today he has had 2 bad days mixture of teething out of routine and under the weather as we are visiting England. 2 massive runny poos last night at 1.30 am needing 2 changes of clothes he's quite unhappy today really struggled to get him to nap im expecting a bad night

Report
Imeg · 21/08/2014 09:12

We're muddling along ok.
Baby has shot up from 0.4th to 50th centile over the last 10 weeks (breastfed) - it's possibly not entirely a coincidence that I've had some grumbling ill health. I wanted to put him on a couple of formula feeds a day to help me get better but he's really not having it. I'm sure if I suddenly stopped breastfeeding he would take formula but I really don't want to do that because I've got so used to the convenience of breastfeeding.
We have been having proper battles at bedtime - he's too big to feed to sleep as he wakes up when I put him in the cot. I think he's still too young just to leave to cry so when he gets properly agitated I then spend considerable time walking up and down with a crying baby until he goes to sleep. On the positive side, his sleep pattern hasn't changed since going into his own room, and after night feeds he seems fine to go in the cot awake and go to sleep by himself - not sure why bedtime is different!
We have started on purees - I tried him one week and he wasn't interested so I thought I'd try once a week until he showed some interest. He does now seem quite keen and grabs the spoon to try to feed himself! Very messy...

Hi Martians - how's everyone going?

Any teeth/crawling/sitting/weaning yet??

Report
mrsmugoo · 24/07/2014 17:08

DS has a teeny tiny hard sharp bit on his bottom gum that has cut through which explains how grumpy he's been!

He "slept through" last night - going through from 10:30 dreamfeed to 6am and then straight back down til 8. It's his best ever night!

He is obsessed with flipping over onto his tummy now. It's exhausting because all he wants to do is roll and can't manage longer than 5-10 minutes on his front. He can roll front to back, in fact he learnt that first, but he seems to have forgotten how, so it's a constant cycle of grizzling to be turned back and then rolling straight back over again.

Report
Vikkijayne2507 · 24/07/2014 15:49

we have 2 clear teeth coming through in the middle at the top. hence an unhappy baby at times. 4 months today he's learnt to roll front to back first was a week ago. But he won't always do it. He has some lovely smiling moments and giggle fits when his teeth arnt pissing him off.

I think last time I posted in here must have been just before we were slammed with 4 month sleep regression. It lasted 3 weeks and nearly broke me!

As a result I decided to call time on co-sleeping and naps in arms and we did a bit of cc sleep training and now we have a self settler who sleeps in his cot for night and naps and has done 6 nights in a row going down between 7-7:30 and only waking up once between 3-5 for a feed then sleeping until 7-7:30. I really hope it sticks.

Hello!! Hope everyone's doing ok? I also got a bit caught up in the every day routine.

Sounds like some of you are doing well with sleep patterns. Its lovely to get a few reliable hours even if everything else is hit and miss. We have introduced a dream feed and its working quite well. DS will go through from df to around 5am most of the time :)

We also had sleep regression from around 3.5 months for about a month due to rolling, immunisations, growth spurt and teething! DS has half one front tooth and one next to it is just coming through! It makes him grouchy and a bit shouty :)

We've almost moved entirely to ff from ebf by dropping one feed a week - its so different for me but don't think DS has really noticed. I offer boob in the night if he is fretful but he's not really interested in much more than a comforting few nibbles... Just as well with those nashers!!!

We're trying to make the most of the long sunny days - I have a vague countdown of about 6 weeks until I'm back to work so no more pajama days for us. Is anyone else planning their return to work?

FrankelandFilly · 15/07/2014 20:25

Lost you all for a while, hope everyone is doing ok. We've just come out the other side of the 4 month sleep regression, at least I hope we have!

Has anyone got teeth yet? A few of the babies from my post-natal group have started getting them through so I guess that's the next bit of fun to look forward too!

Imeg · 10/07/2014 07:57

Oh yes the 5-6am poo! We have that - I'm sure he wouldn't wake for food at that time as he's usually fed at 2-3am but he wakes himself up pooing...
