I expect it will be quiet in here for a while with only four Martians born so far and it not even being March yet Smile

Those who have popped so far:
Coolhand
Dabarai
LyraSilvertongue
Wuxiapian

Not until Sunday - DS needs the full 5 days of antibiotics, so we've moved to a single room so we can get some sleep!

Might actually give us the peace required to settle into knowing each other, tbh... and although I'm not thrilled, the docs wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't necessary.

Yeah, I've heard the same about day 3! Weird isn't it? Bonkers hormones, the early stages of sleep deprivation... ah, the joys Wink

Wonder if any more Martians are on their way as we speak?

Hi all, my gorgeous son was born Thursday morning by c section.

Went really well, we have been treated so well and sensitively by the staff, and I'm currently feeding him.

All I can say is wow.

floatyflo · 07/03/2014 04:43

Hi all hadn't been on the Martian thread for a while but checking in now as I had my daughter last week Friday 28th Feb. Induced at 39 weeks. Quick intense amazing. Weighing 7lbs 7oz. And delivered in the same room that my three year old son was! Xx

EmFlat · 07/03/2014 06:56

Congratulations Owl and Flo!

OwlinaTree · 07/03/2014 08:46

Never realised I could cope with so little sleep!

OwlinaTree · 08/03/2014 06:28

Congrats Flo! We are back at home now, interesting night of mainly feeding.. Feeding...feeding... I'm guessing this is the cluster feeding?!

Wuxiapian · 09/03/2014 11:35

Haven't been here for a bit, but wanted to congratulate the new mums!

We're at day 23 now. Baby is feeding every 4/5 hours, up to 125ml. Jaundice is much better and sleeping for England!

I'm on day 5 of heavy-duty antibiotics for (probable) internal infection. Feeling better than a few days ago so fingers crossed they'll see me right!

I'm still bleeding on and off, too! MW told me up to 6 weeks is normal especially with c-section.

Hope you are all keeping well :)

OwlinaTree · 09/03/2014 11:59

Hi wux. Glad you are well. Infection sounds nasty, hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I'm on day four now, I must admit the tiredness is catching up with me a bit now. Luckily we are having no visitors today, so me and Mr owl are planning to sleep in shifts all day to catch up a bit.

So lovely to see the daily changes, yesterday he really started to find his hands and look around a bit more.

OwlinaTree · 09/03/2014 18:06

Had my first pfb moment. Neighbours popped round to meet DS. Neighbour held his arms out to hold him and he smells of pipe tobacco.

I'm thinking 'no no no' but of course said nothing...

Wuxiapian · 09/03/2014 20:01

Pipe stench - that's horrible, Owl - nothing pfb about it!

Hope you and Mr Owl are getting your sleep catch-up. I think the tiredness caught up with me after about a week.

My LO has found her thumb. I tried to switch thumb for dummy, but she's not having it. At all.

I've got to return to Dr Tuesday and feel about 60% at the moment...

lumpylumps · 09/03/2014 20:10

I think I'm more precious this time than I was with either of the other 2. I just want to keep him to myself and not let anyone else touch him!!

EmFlat · 09/03/2014 20:53

Glad you mentioned about the bleeding, Wux... I've just passed a clot the size of a bloody walnut! Bleeding had really lightened 'til then, although this is my first day home after being stuck at hospital for 6 days after c-sec Confused

So cute to hear about your day 4, Owl! Smile Hope they keep getting better!

Wuxiapian · 09/03/2014 20:55

I feel the same about my baby. I think it's because she'll be my last child and my other DC are boys!

I'm not letting the broken nights get to me as I know she'll be grown before I know it.

OwlinaTree · 09/03/2014 22:14

em you poor thing being in hospital for 6 days! They let me home after a day and a half luckily.

Yes sleep catch up didn't quite happen as planned, but I have had a couple of extra naps - well every little helps!

Wuxiapian · 09/03/2014 22:43

Sorry, Em. I missed your post.

Yes, MW told me the blood loss can be slower post section as it's coming out slowly whereas you lose more at the time of a vaginal birth, if that makes sense.

Why were you kept in hospital for so long?

CalltheMadwife · 10/03/2014 06:55

I can trump 6 days, we're here till Wednesday. Emergency LSCS 05/03/14 @0517 Girl Meredith, 8lbs 13ozs.

Definitely looking forward to my own bed!

Wuxiapian · 10/03/2014 07:06

Congratulations, Call!

Beautiful name, too!

How are you both doing today?

EmFlat · 10/03/2014 07:40

Oof, Call, that sucks Hmm it's nice to be in a place where you're looked after and can ask questions at any time, but is frustrating being stuck away from home!

Wux, I had 'PROM' and then 'FTP' after 37 hours, ran a temperature and my heart rate was up, so they EMCS'd... both of us needed antibiotics and obs Hmm All's well now tho, but I'm scared of trying to take the plasters off my poor 1-week-old! He's gonna scream blue murder.

(Ps if the abbreviations made no sense, it's 'premature rupture of membranes' and 'failure to progress'... am a dab hand at all the lingo now!Wink)

OwlinaTree · 10/03/2014 07:56

Congrats Madwife what a lovely name! Good weight too, was that a term delivery?

TotalShock · 10/03/2014 09:19

Congratulations call. I was in for 5 nights and was climbing the walls! Baby James born 25/02/14. 8lb 1

Hope everyone's doing well x

Wuxiapian · 10/03/2014 09:43

Congrats, Total!

Gosh, Em, you have been through the mill. Glad you've both recovered.

I'm heading back to Dr's this morn, I think. The pain from my scar has got worse again (on day 6 of the antibiotics) and is radiating up towards my belly button.

Not happy :(

EmFlat · 11/03/2014 22:48

How did the Dr's appointment go, Wux? Hope you're okay.

Am intrigued by the baby blues... does anyone else only get them at certain times of the day? Anywhere after 6 or 7pm is when mine kick in - I'm fine during the day! Confused

SaucyJack · 11/03/2014 23:26

Can I join in?

DD3 (Luna) was due in Feb, but finally arrived in the early hours of thursday morning.

She's a very happy little chap and sleeps well- s'long as she's no further than four inches from a bare breast.

Hope you're all doing well.

Oh, and if there's anybody else out there who wants to chat about being too afraid to poo in case their insides fall out......... then I am well up for that conversation. Tried having it with DP, but he just can't relate.

Wuxiapian · 12/03/2014 02:38

Em, the Dr sent me back to labour ward thinking that perhaps it's a blood clot causing the bleeding and constant godawful feeling.

Hospital did obs (all ok), blood test (results being normal and not indicating infection), an internal (which they seemed happy with) and took swabs in which I need to ring later today for results. They also scanned me (via dildocam) which didn't show anything untoward - a small irregular patch on uterus that "might cause a bit more bleeding".

So, they sent me home with different (broad spectrum) antibiotics just incase there's an infection (from swab results) which they will then tailor accordingly.

So, not sure how to feel. It's hard to believe the pain I've been in has been for no reason.

I seem to hit a slump late afternoon/early evening. It could be just general knackeredness and looking forward to my bed, though.

Welcome and congrats, Saucy! Pretty name.

I was terrified to poo after my CS incase I burst my stitches. They gave me lactulose in hospital (understanding my worry) and I took things very slowly in that regard. Did you need stitches?
