Here we are everyone, a new thread, as promised ready for all these little ones to turn one.

Here's the link to the old thread

Miaou, I was just thinking of doing the exact same thing the other day, so much better than a baby book, as it really does record all of the milestones as they happen.

Another milestone today, ds2's first visit to the dentist. He was ever so good he let the dentist look at his teeth, which his brother never did. In fact the dentist got his first look at ds1's teeth ever today and it was his fourth visit!

We're all set for his birthday tomorrow, but I'm tired, it's hard work having 2 birthdays in a week and DH is thirty 2 weeks today, TOO MANY BIRTHDAYS!!!!! We're having friends round for an afternoon barbecue (DH will be getting in touch with his inner caveman over an open fire ) and people are dropping in as and when. Just hope that his cake is OK when it's delivered tonight.

Let you all know how things went after the party.

thanks for the birthday wishes for Lemmy.....our party went well, with the few little ones invited being very well behaved until the last half hour when tiredness kicked in and they started getting grumpy. all except Lemmy who is such a good natured child i can't believe how lucky i am.
i nearly cried when we sang him 'happy birthday'....been feeling quite emotional about how quickly this year has gone.

it's been a fantastic day with the exception of our cat coming home injured and being rushed to the vet....she's ok, but quite poorly.
i'm now going to go and fall into bed.....i am shattered.

blossom2 · 05/08/2006 22:01

hi everyone, its been ages since my last post on our thread (dont think i've posted here...).

but wanted to ask if any is pregnant with second or third?!?!?!?

suzi2 · 06/08/2006 13:07

Well Logan is one today. I feel quite sad, but happy too. I just don't know where the time has gone and want to relive it all the time! We're just on our way to my mums for a party - hoping that not too many of the relatives think it's an excuse for a drinking binge!

Blossom - I'm about 12 wks pg with our second. Tigerlion on here is pg too - I think she's due soon (October?). Have you news to share with us?

blossom2 · 06/08/2006 17:43

phew, its great to know i'm not the only one!! But this is my third and although i'm excited, its also very scary. 3 children under 5!!

PanicPants · 06/08/2006 20:58

blossom thats so exciting - how pregnant are you? Thats 3 of you now. I'm a bit broody but not enough yet to take the plunge!

Happy Birthday to all the babies who were 1 this week. And to all the mums too. We've 3 weeks to go yet so I can still call James a baby for a while!

Bramblina-your party sounds lovely even without the inlaws. It's your day with your lo, so enjoy it. We are just having a tea party for James and if the weathers nice we will have a bbq as well.

Tigerlion · 07/08/2006 14:25

Thanks for birthday wishes for DS. He had a great day and enjoyed his party with 10 little friends. All he was interested in were the salt and vinegar crisps which were for the adults. As it was his birthday he was allowed some and seemed to absolutely love them! My DH reminded me last night thatin 14 months' time, we will have already celebrated DS's second bday and DD's first birthday. What a terrifying thought!

Congratulations Blossom. When are you due? The other day I realised that I was not alone in my craziness - a girl I met who had a DD who turns One on August 11 is expecting her second baby on August 29. Now, that is fast going!

Suzi2, I am going to get a tandem pushchair which is easy to fold up for the car. I think that I will go for the Marco Othello which comes out in September. Marco alreay has the lightweight Skystroller (available online at Jussone) but are bringing out the above improved version in September, which will be suitable from birth.

Hope all birthdays this week go well. Thinking of Tiggerintum's Thomas, Wilbur's Caspar, KMS's Finlay, Nat777's Missy, Kipper's Charlie, Nome's Rosalie, Jessajam's Milo & Pookey's Noah.

josey · 07/08/2006 21:23

Dazie · 08/08/2006 11:57

Happy Birthday to all those about to turn one and the babies/toddlers that I have missed!!

Gosh what a lot of news and how many pregnancies!!!!

Max will be 1 next tuesday we will be having a family party on saturday hopefully the weather will be nice. We havent really bought him a present as we have no idea what to get, his brother and sister have so many toys that he would rather play with and chew.

We are making Playdough today I lost my recipe so I have oppted for one off of the net I hope it works I only have enough ingredients to make one lot!

Nat777 · 08/08/2006 12:32

Hi guys. Well Missy is now 1!!! She was born at 11.46 but we had to put her back to bed at 11.30 this morning as she was soo tired! So far, so good and her favourite present was the Winne trike, she loes it and wont leave it alone! She has worked out how to put things in the boot, how to honk the horn and she sings when the music plays! She is pretty fast on it as well!

She took a tiny little step this morning, couldnt believe it! Admittedly it wasnt enough for us to consider it as her first step, but it was def a mini step! I am hoping that she will start to walk fairly soon as we have wood floors and I can see that it isnt very comfortable when she crawls.

Well once she is up we have a birthday lunch and cake!

Birthday wishes to everyone else today or who has a birthday soon xoxo

PanicPants · 08/08/2006 19:26

Happy Birthday for today Missy!

And Happy Birthday for the other babies this week.

Exciting news, James can stand up on his own for at least 15 seconds! He stands and rubs his tummy - looking very pleased with himself. I'm really hoping he will have taken his first step by his birthday in 2 and a half weeks. Do you recken he will have?

Nat777 · 08/08/2006 19:59

Thanks Panic pants! Was a really hetic day and Missy was so so tired! She got loads of great pressies.

Missy has been standing on her own for a couple of weeks and today took one mini step at home and one mini step at Great Grannys. But they werent real steps if you know what I mean. You never know PP, it wont be long!

suzi2 · 08/08/2006 20:24

Nat - DS also took his first mini step on his birthday. he followed it up yesterday with 4 steps before falling into my arms. It sort of a lunge forward but now the legs move too!

Panicpants - DS was only standing alone for the last week or so. Although he is very strong and steady when cruising and does a lot of crouching and half standing. So I reckon it won't be long before James takes a step.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 08/08/2006 20:35

Hi all. Happy birthday to all the lo's that I missed while not having internet.

We're finally (mostly) settled in our new home. Just waiting for DH to be able to live here.

Caitlin has been walking the past week or so. She can walk pretty much the length of the house. She's still really unsteady. She looks horrible because her ability isn't as much as she thinks it is, and when she tries to follow DS around, he goes too fast and her little feet get tripped up. She's fallen on the wall or furniture 4 times, and has 2 bruises around her right eye. I hope people don't think I beat her.

PanicPants · 08/08/2006 20:45

C&CMommy I'm sure noone will think that at all. James has got bruises on his knees (we have wooden floors and tiles!)

Oooh thats quite encouraging then, so he may have taken a step or two by his birthday then.

What pressies did Missy get?

josey · 08/08/2006 21:23

oh it makes me giggle hearing of all your babies walking standing and crusing DD doesnt know what her feet are for i must have the laziest baby out of the lot they rate she is going she will only start walking on her 2nd birthday!!
She still only has 2 teeth and her mouth is giving her so much jip if you look at her gums she has what looks like lots of little hard white parcels.
Just trying to get ready to go to Orkney for a few days hope the ferry crossing is calm.
Happy Birthday to all the babies over this week

queenrollo · 09/08/2006 11:03

birthday pics

some photos here of Lemmy's party.......we didn't get many. we were too busy having fun.

Miaou · 09/08/2006 11:18

Well sadly Calum's birthday was totally ruined for me by us being told that we have to leave our house at the end of the year - it would have been sad anyway as we love our house, but it is actually quite worrying as there is a severe housing shortage up here and it is quite likely that we will have to move to another place entirely, which means uprooting the dds from school yet again. Added to which we then went on holiday about three days later (am still on hols now!) so we can't do anything about it for two weeks! I'm sure it will all work out in the end but it is a worry we didn't expect to have just now.

Ds is doing very well though - adding new words daily (cat, turtle (soft toy), dd1's name) and looks like he is about to start cruising (he keeps lifting one foot up when he holds on the furniture, but not moving along just yet!). He can get himself off a chair safely (backwards) and can climb up two steps but mercifully no more just yet . I guess he is on target to walk unaided at about the same time that his sisters did (14/15 months). He can crawl very fast though!

What are your dc's favourite toys of the moment? Ds is very enamoured of his soft toy rabbit, who he cuddles very lovingly, an Argos catalogue that he likes to rip the pages from, and a couple of little rattles (the rest of it is spurned ). At the moment he is far more interested in moving about and getting hold of things which are not his!

Miaou · 09/08/2006 11:19

Sorry forgot to add, many happy returns for all the other one-year-olds!!

Nat777 · 09/08/2006 13:45

Miaou- So sorry to hear that, what a bloody nightmare and what crap timing! As you say, I am sure things will work out. Fingers crossed for you. x

PP- Missy got a fur'y rocking horse- completely gorgeous and she loves it! She sits on it, rocks back and forward, places her head on it to cuddle him and sings! She got a Winnie the Poo little trike, makes noises, lights up etc. She got a really old fashioned wooden toy with a chalk board on one side, a clock on the other, spinnnig numbers and those wires with the beads on that you can move around (norm have them in Doctors) hope that makes sense! Then it was the usual- bath robe, slippers, teddy bears, hammocks for her bears, piggy banks, lot of clothes, photo albums etc etc and £150 which has gone straight into her bank account. xx

PanicPants · 09/08/2006 16:31

Nat777- wow missy did very well then! James is getting a similiar rocking horse from Grandma for his birthday so I'm glad Missy liked hers. A friend of ours has one and he just loves sitting on it and screams the house down when I take him off it!

Queenrollo - I love the pictures, it looks like fun was had by all. I especially loved the cake, can't quite believe someone made it and it wasn't shop bought though. I was going to make James', but I may have to buy one instead (theres no way anything I could make would look that good) otherwise I'll feel he hasn't got the best iyswim.

Miaou - thats such a shame, and I guess that it has put a dampner on your holiday as well.

I took James to see the health visitor today as he has a rash which I thouht was a heat rash (after doing the glass test last night to check it wasn't Menningitis) and she thinks it's either a reaction to something he's eaten or chicken pox (def not heat heat rash) so I'm hoping he'll be ok. He is ok within himself just a bit grumpier!

Nat777 · 09/08/2006 18:47

PP- strange about the rash! Missy had a very fine rash over her body, quite a covering but not very obvious if you know what I mean! It appeared the day after she first had cows milk so I was really worried that it didnt agree with her, the doc thought it was viral and we stuck it out and after a week it disappeared. It hasnt been back since and this was last week, so hopefully it wont come back. Be interested to know what happens with James. x

suzi2 · 09/08/2006 20:05

Panicpants - my DS has eczema and gets heat rashes too. However, a couple of times he's had a fine pinpricks type rash and it's definately been viral. he's come down with something a week or two later. Chickenpox is pretty obvious so I would have thought the doctor would have known for sure. Has he had his MMR? If so, it could be the reaction to that.

DS had his MMR today - what a trouper he only cried for a second. I made the HV hold him which was good as it meant that he came to mummy for a cuddle which instantly calmed him. Still battling his eczema, it's a real mess at the moment. He's really discovered scratching and has his ankles bleeding. Phoned docs about it on Thurs and got an appointment for next Monday - 10 days. Pathetic.

PanicPants · 11/08/2006 17:25

Suzi2 thats a ridiculous wait for the doctor, it's such a bad system, I feel for you having to wait that long and seeing your lo suffer in the meantime

Nat777 and Suzi2, James' rash is much better now, just a few spots left. We worked out that a day before his rash I'd given him whole blackberries (he's had pureed bb before mixed in with other fruit and cereal and been fine) and he's squished them up and had been covered in the juice, and coincidently the spots were where the juice had run (face, hands, arms and legs - he was wearing a vest and nappy at the time!) so I quess our little man is allergic to blackberries!

His new trick is to try to get to standing without pulling up on anything. He starts off on his kness and throws both arms to heaven and trys to lever himself up that way. Looks like he's praying!

Miaou · 11/08/2006 18:52

Hi everyone. Still on holiday and battling with our housing crisis from afar whilst trying to enjoy ourselves! Ds has got even more new words (turtle, rabbit, tiger - all fave toys!), and can now climb up and down the stairs by himself, and off a chair if you put him on one. He has dropped most of his daytime sleeps now in favour of a longer one at night (yipee! I really hope it continues).

Twiga · 11/08/2006 23:30

Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long - how useless am I?! Should really be in bed just now so really just saying hello and will post properly in next day or so. Been away from home a lot recently and also been a sad time for us as dh's uncle died recently. Anyway, big congrats to all the wee ones that are now 1, as dd was so determined not to come out we've got to wait until sept but hey! Doesn't seem like a year already and can't believe the changes etc. right must go sleep but love to all and will check in soon x
