Here we are everyone, a new thread, as promised ready for all these little ones to turn one.

Here's the link to the old thread

Miaou, I was just thinking of doing the exact same thing the other day, so much better than a baby book, as it really does record all of the milestones as they happen.

Another milestone today, ds2's first visit to the dentist. He was ever so good he let the dentist look at his teeth, which his brother never did. In fact the dentist got his first look at ds1's teeth ever today and it was his fourth visit!

We're all set for his birthday tomorrow, but I'm tired, it's hard work having 2 birthdays in a week and DH is thirty 2 weeks today, TOO MANY BIRTHDAYS!!!!! We're having friends round for an afternoon barbecue (DH will be getting in touch with his inner caveman over an open fire ) and people are dropping in as and when. Just hope that his cake is OK when it's delivered tonight.

Let you all know how things went after the party.

oh and can i just ask, is there anyone else that's still waiting for that elusive first tooth?

kate100 · 14/08/2006 08:46

Haven't posted for ages, happy birthday to, Jaxon, Joseph, Lemmy, Logan, Alex, Thomas, Caspar, finlay, Missy, Charlie, Rosalie,Milo, Noah and Max for today.

Well, I haven't posted in a while as DS2 has been so poorly. From the day after his birthday he had a high temperature, awful nappies, a terrible and he was crying all the time, not like my sunny little chap at all. He was even waking in the night and crying, really not like him. And all down to ......... a little white molar that has eventually popped through. He just got over it in time f r me to organise dh's 30th birthday and get throught the weekend and now he seems to be working on the next one He was awake five times in the night last night. It's really the last thing that I need as I'm not very well myself. I've had a bad throat and ears for about a week, but I've fought it off so that we could celebrate dh's birthday and yesterday, I think my body thought, 'OK, you can be ill now' as there's nothing to do this week, but I guess ds2 had other ideas. Off to the doctors for me this morning and hopefully I'll be better before tonights wakings

Miaou, hope the house issue is resolved soon, how is your dh doing with his letter?

Congratulations Blossom2!!!

Poor you Kate100, I do hope you manage a decent nights sleep tonight so you can both start to feel a little bit better.

Ds has a moloar coming and whilst he's not as bad as your lo, it's defienitly worse than the front teeth.

josey · 14/08/2006 22:58

hi all and birthday wishes to anyone i have missed

kate hope you and ds are better soon.

we are just back from a lovely break at mums though i had an awful trip to get there the weather always blows up for me getting there and the ferry was delayed by 2hours plus dd was sea sick bless her!!

DD is teething so badly she still only has 2 teeth but has 6 coming though she is grinding the teeth she does have along her top gum so hard she has drawn blood and all she has done today is scream and cry fingers crossed we will see some teeth soon

Maiou hope you get something sorted with a house soon - we are still trying to sort something out for moving and it all seems to be going wrong but at least i dont have to leave my house yet i think i would have pulled all my hair out by now if i did.(suzi2 we are now looking in your home town)
Better go to bed back to work tomorrow and school is back so it will be a bit of a shock all round in our house!!!

queenrollo · 15/08/2006 08:14

hi all....hope all the birthdays have been good ones so far.

things were getting more cheerful round here, dp managed to get a pay rise at work, so we were finally hoping to get some money put to one side to complete the work on the house.....then yesterday we got our paperwork through from Inland Revenue and our tax credits have now dropped by just a little more than dp's pay rise.
i have a loft full of stuff to car boot, but no time to do one. i'm now going to have to get my head round a really strict meal plan to try and get our finances pared right down. having looked at our outgoings last night the only bill we pay that is a 'luxury' is our internet, and it's my lifeline to the outside world....so i can't really get rid of it.
i have three parties coming up and was going to buy a new outfit but it looks like i'll have stick with what i've got.
oh dear.....some of us are having a less than perfect time of it at the moment aren't we. lets hope things look up for us soon

Dazie · 15/08/2006 11:14

Hi everyone

Well things havent been great here either, Dh took 2 days off last week to have some family time but the only family time we had was spent in the toilet and bed as we all had a really bad tummy bug. We were going to have a party on the sat for Max but had to cancel as not only were we ill but so were my parents . We did manage to get out for a little while and cheered the kids up with a visit to the balloon fiesta, they got to meet their favourite tv characters Fifi and Bumble.

Well Max is one today and I cant believe it, this time last year I was in the very early stages of labour doing the house work it seems like only yesterday!

Maiou - hows the house situation going?
Happy Brithday for all who turn 1 this week!

PanicPants · 15/08/2006 17:54

Oh dear, I hope everyone with problems will sort them out soon, and start having lovly times again with your lo's.

Ds at the moment is sat in highchair shrieking at me and refusing to eat. I trying to ignore him as sometimes he forgets he's cross and puts a bit of banana in his mouth if he thinks i'm not looking

Tigerlion · 16/08/2006 08:52

DS seems to be less and less willing to have his morning nap from 9-10ish. I read so much conflicting advice about sleep. When are you all going to drop your lo's morning nap?

Happy Birthday to all the one year olds and hope everyone is well.

josey · 16/08/2006 15:32

DD has cut her 1st top tooth today she has been in terrible pain with it and there are another 3 waiting to pop on the top and 2 on the bottom!!

I caught her last night i thought just in time digging her hands into a plant pot my mistake she had enough to shove in her mouth it was horrible yuk!

tigerlion my dd only has 1 nap and its either before lunch or just after she has never really been structured when it comes to naps so im not of much help sorry

bramblina · 16/08/2006 22:23

Good heavens these birthdays seem to have brought all manners of problems haven't they! Now ds knows he can get about, he has really changed, rolls over as quick as poss when having a nappy change, and is not impressed when I roll him back! If he's at something he shouldn't be, he throws a little wobbly when I take him away! WHen I pick him up he flips like a fish out of water! It's actually quite amusing, and only lasts for a second or so (phew). It's amazing though how his perspective of things has changed, just because he knows there's a world out there. He stood in the kitchen at the weekend holding on to the broom, for about 30 seconds, and will now walk barely holding on to one hand, so we're guessing it won't be long before he's off on his own.
His birthday was good, a hectic weekend, and tbh I was quite glad the few that didn't turn up couldn't as there was plenty mess without them! Ds had 2 mini sausages, and a whole piece of chocolate birthday cake! Then for lunch last Friday he had chinese buffet! Oh how I have relaxed since he turned 1! It was just circumstances really but I am a bit less uptight about it. He had his 5th haircut a fortnight before his birthday and just looks so grown up with a full head of hair...I really have lost that baby .
He got 2 ride on toys for his birthday (one is Mater from the Cars film, quite cool!) and he loves them. I found a jelly and a potato hidden under the seat the other day! He bombs everywhere on them. He got some magnetic fishing games too, which he loves.
For a good few months he has gone down for a nap about 2 hours after he gets up, this used to last an hour but since he's been more active it's stretching to one and a half, sometimes 2. He used to wake up in good time for lunch then he would last well till bedtime (usually 7.30) but as he's been sleeping later, his lunch has been later, maybe around 2pm or after, but the problem is he is just too grumpy if he waits any longer, so he won't be pushing his nap any later till he's ready really, and I don't think any time soon. Tigerlion, does Alex have an afternoon one too?
Josey, when are you hoping to move? It would be nice to hook up before you go..?
Happy birthday to all those I have missed so far, and for Benjamin, Rachel, Amelia, James, Caitlin, Chloe, Rhianna and Phoebe!

josey · 16/08/2006 23:16

Brambalina glad the birthday turned out well in the end!! if we can pull off this house it wont be until Jan/Feb time but im not holding any hopes at the moment!! It would be fantastic to me you and Jaxon, anytime you are in Dingwall let me know and I can come through - im taking DD to Mona's on Tuesday for her 1st hair cut her hair is about 2" below her shoulders at the back when you wash it but it springs up in a nice tucked under wavey bob when dry the front is just sticking in her eyes its ok if she stays stil long enough for me to clip it back

Azure · 18/08/2006 09:23

Hello everyone, sorry to hear there have been downs as well as ups. Well, it's Ben's birthday today - I simply cannot believe it's been a year. There goes my excuse for not having lost my baby weight! I'm surprised that I feel a little sad about the birthday - I guess it's the passing of a special time, especially as we're not going to have any more children. Anyway, Ben loved his little slide, and can even climb up it himself (both up the ladder and up the slide), although positioning himself at the top to come down is tricky. He's a great climber and can happily climb up DS1's highchair. DH says he took a step this morning while I was in the shower, so we'll see if he can repeat the performance. I'm at work this morning but DH and I are leaving early afternoon to have a quiet birthday tea and open the rest of Ben's presents. My parents, sister and her family are coming on Sunday for a get-together for both Ben's birthday and Sam's, who will be 5 in 9 days.

kate100 · 19/08/2006 15:29

Happy Birthday to Max and Ben! {smile]

I've been very poorly this week, I've had tonsilits and have felt properly sorry for myself But today I'm feeling much better, good job really as I haven't been able to do much and the house looks as if some kind of disaster has occured

Sorry there have been problems for people, hope you're all feeling better Dazie and you get to clebrate Max's birthday properly.

Glad the tooth is finally through Josey DS2 also needs a haircut, but the hair's never as soft after it's been cut so I'm holding off as long as I can.

DS2 has cut 2 molars and he's getting a third, thankfully after that first night he hasn't been too bad and hasn't woken in the night. He can now climb up and down the stairs and is just starting to let go and stand on his own, but I'm not holding my breath about him walking. I don't think he sees the point as he can crawl so fast.

And it just gets worse...I kissed ds goodnight lastnight before going to bed, he opened his eyes and rolled over, I assumed he was still fast asleep...dh went in 5 mins later- and he was sat bolt upright in his cot! Quite the thing, as if he was waiting for something! Dh tried to settle him back down but he got very upset and it took us a nappy change, paracetamol (almost force fed), and an hour of pacing the hallway with him and he finally fell asleep on my shoulder. {{I have to admit it was quite nice when I heard his breathing change and he had fallen asleep, he's not a cuddly baby and I think has only fallen asleep on a shoulder 3 times, he likes his bed, so it's nice to get a chance of a sleepy cuddle!}} He was fine this morning, back to himself, until dh (who is obviously quite surprised how much faster he can move on his Mater since he was home last weekend) let the dog out and left the front door open...ds tried to follow him and took a tumble down the concrete steps...I'm not sure out of the 3 of us who was most upset! He had a rather large egg on his forehead which has since relaxed in to a bright blue lump. A lesson learned, at ds's expense but I'm sure those of you who have more than one are just laughing thinking how many more of these are yet to come!

Sorry if tmi but may I ask are poos meant to be so different every day?! Last week ds had one just like a newborn, one day they'll be firm, one day loose, one day smelly, one day not( oh sorry I think you get the idea!) but I just assume the bad ones are down to teething but he hasn't cut a tooth in over a month! We are waiting for the molars to start though.

queenrollo · 20/08/2006 11:27

bramblina......my ds has the same kind of poo habits, totally different from day to day. he really can't tolerate cows milk at all, but to be honest taking him off it hasn't solved the problem so i think it just makes the existing problem worse.

we had three hands free steps this morning!i can't believe how quickly he's growing. we visited friends and their two week old ds yesterday, he's two pounds heavier than ds was when he was born and i can't get over how tiny he is!

suzi2 · 20/08/2006 13:29

bramblina - poos here are definately directly related to what was eaten. Yesterday DS had lentil & veg for tea and today we've had 3 giant squdgy nappies already. They're rarely what i would term as 'solid' and are more soft than firm. Can not for the life of me imagine what one would look like in a potty...

QR - DS also won't tollerate cows milk (or any other for that matter). Will your DS take formula? Or are you jsut not giving milk? We are bombarding DS with yogurt and cheese in the hope that he'll get his calcium from them.

DS is stepping like a pro - but only from objects to people. He needs someone to catch him. He's getting pretty steady though. He FINALLY clapped hands properly yesterday. My mum has been trying to teach him since he was about 4 months and we had seen him do it once before. But we knew he was capable and often claps objects together. No idea why he did it yesterday but is applauding himself a lot today - usually when he stands unaided for some time we get a small round of applause.

queenrollo · 21/08/2006 08:06

Suzi...ds is quite happy with formula so i'm not worrying about it, and he can take the cows milk in food just not as a drink.

i think (hope!) the teething is unsettling ds sleep pattern. he is taking about an hour to get off to sleep at night and waking at 5am.....he refuses to go back to sleep so comes into our bed. he usually cuddles nicely till 6.30-7am and we all doze but this morning he refused to settle so i am shattered (after a weekend of disturbed nights thanks to teenagers partying over the road ) i'm really hoping when these teeth are through we return to a better sleep pattern.

Tigerlion · 21/08/2006 14:25

Same issues with poos. At least DS is quite regular, so I am a happy mummy!

Bramblina, he curently wakes at 7am and then has a nap from 9-10am. I then oput his down for his afternoon n ap at 12.30ish where he is meant to be sleeping for two hours but the past few days he has hardly slkept at all. Should I be changing nap times do you think?

QR I have not yet tried it but I hear that MediSed is meant to be fantastic for teething. It aklso has a very mild sedative in it and aids the baby to sleep for hours. Some friends of mine who took a long flight recently gave it to their baby before take off and the normally screaming baby was asleep for the whole journey. Sounds good to me! Has anyone else used it and if so what can you say about it?

Got MMR for DS next week. I hope that he reacts well towards it.

Suzi2, DS has just started clapping properly too. he bursts out laughing each time that he does it. Very funny indded.

happy birthday to all those with birthdays this week.

PanicPants · 21/08/2006 16:16

Bramblina, ds's poos are very regular except when he's teething and then I get 4 or 5 a day instead of the normal 2.

My lovely baby has turned into the child from hell atm, he throws a wobbly EVERY time we take something away from him, we say no, or if we try to feed him.

It's like living with a teenager.

suzi2 · 21/08/2006 20:40

Panicpants - I was just thinking the same today. If DS doesn't get exactly his own way he's throwing a wobbly. We used to be able to distract him to calm him, but now he just goes nuts until he gets what he wants... not sure what we do about that one. It's like living with 2 of my DH...!

queenrollo · 22/08/2006 08:09

tigerlion......i have been using Medised for quite a while now, when ds is very unsettled at bedtime. all his other teeth have come through without too much bother (yes i do know how lucky i am!!) but i think all 4 canines and three molars at the same time would be too much for anyone to bear!
i don't know if it's related to his teething or a normal phase at this age but he so clingy, especially with his daddy. he gets quite upset in the morning when dp leaves for work and when dp goes to the loo ds stands on the other side of the door knocking on it, and grizzling!
well it's my birthday tomorrow........dp is at work and i am keeping my usual wednesday afternoon visit with my friend and her dd. i'm not in the least excited.....i can't remember the last time i was excited about my birthday!

Nat777 · 22/08/2006 12:57

MediSed is bl**dy brilliant! I recommend it fully! It has been a godsend to us when Missy has had terrible terrible colds (when she was much younger) and more recently for when she has been teething. I think I will always have it in my cupboard!

Azure · 22/08/2006 13:23

Happy birthday for tomorrow Queenrollo. We had a nice time with a low-key family birthday party for my boys - they had a birthday cake each plus the one our nanny made for Ben's actual birthday on Friday, so our cake tin is now full of cake-ends. DS1 "helped" Ben unwrap his presents, blow out his candle and play with all his new toys, poor Ben could hardly get a look-in.

PanicPants · 22/08/2006 21:30

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Queenrollo!

I took ds to the hairdressers today for his first trim (just the sides as he's got lots of wispy bits over the ears) and he was fantastic. He just sat there and offered the hairdresser his biscuit I'd given hin to keep him quiet!! He didn't make a sound.

His birthday is on Sunday and I'm still debating whether to make a cake or buy one. Can't believe he's nearly 1, although acting more like 15 atm.

Azure · 23/08/2006 09:51

DS2 is still way off needing a first hair cut. It's still very fine and wispy, although if he's anything like his brother it will get much thicker and darker (like mine). Our nanny made a great birthday cake for him - she baked a square cake then cut it into a "1" shape, used coloured ready-to-roll icing and wrote his name down the front (Ben rather than Benjamin!). A candle and noddy-in-aeroplane toy completed it. Simple but effective. For his party a couple of days later I copied the idea, although used a bought cake as the base and wooden Noah's Ark animals to decorate.
