Oh that's a shame :( no worries about the comment, it's true :) I've just transferred all my stuff over and cheered me up a bit

BookTart · 21/03/2014 09:37

Cheers everyone :) Yeah toby she's following the curve, not sure what the HV's problem is. I think the paediatrician thing is for her stomach. I'll try thickening up the Gav, good idea.

She's asleep now, obviously! I am taking this as a sign to carry on with my Dawson's Creek marathon until the doctor's appointment.

I forgot to say I'm glad the appointment went so well nature

TobyLerone · 21/03/2014 11:27

I don't know if there's any reason why not to make the Gaviscon thicker. Can't think of any. It's still not as thick as Calpol, so it's not a choking risk or anything. And I give M a bit more milk after I've given it so it waters it down a bit more, although that sounds like shite logic now I've written it down!

Going to get my hair cut in a bit. I'll be over your way for the rest of the day, book, so shout if you need anything.
DH is going on a stag weekend tomorrow morning, so I get the bed to myself tomorrow night :o He's dreading it, poor thing. Stag nights are really not his thing.

BookTart · 21/03/2014 13:31

Cheers toby. She seems okay, just really sleepy.

GP has referred her to a specialist for her reflux. Hopefully they'll see her soon.

An afternoon on the sofa beckons I think :)

mrsv I was wondering how you're doing. Hope things are going okay with your DH.

FelixFelix · 21/03/2014 14:19

Just a quick one for the bottle feeders - Sylvie is on size 2 avent teats at the moment but the past couple of days I've noticed the teat is collapsing in on itself, like she's sucking too hard. Does this mean I should move up to the next size?

fryingpantoface · 21/03/2014 15:05

felix sounds like it's time to change to me

fryingpantoface · 21/03/2014 21:35

I've had a great day today. Lie in, went to F&B's for breakfast, made apt for new contacts, made three loaves of bread, mil brought back ds1 from hers (hence my productivity) and just chilled. Both boys have been asleep in their bed/cot since 7.30 and I'm relaxed. :)

also, work confirmed i got the hours i wanted. Will be working tues-sat finishing no later then 7pm, just a variety of shifts in between. I'll have 4-6weeks advance notice of my shift times. So I'm very pleased! 9wks 5days until I'm back

FelixFelix · 21/03/2014 21:47

Thank you frying! Do you reckon I could get away with poking a tiny hole in each teat with a sterilised pin rather than buying new ones? I've got 8 bottles so it will cost me a fortune Shock

Sounds like you had a good day! Great news about work too Grin

Sylvie just cried inconsolably for aaaaaaages but turns out she was just over tired and now she's snoozing away. She's slept loads today so no idea why she's so tired.

fryingpantoface · 21/03/2014 21:56

Although they tell you not to, someone I know me tried it with ds1 when the 2nd teats weren't fast enough, but the third were too fast. It worked well. If it doesn't work, you've not lost anything?

The MAM bottles we have cost £4.50 for new teats, 2 in a pack. We've got 6 bottles, so it all adds up. Maybe check out Boots deals, when they do the 3 for 2, as it could work out cheaper? or Asda sell Avent teats, try there?

Henry gets overtired really quickly too, even when he's slept loads. Apparently we've got 4 days left of his Wonder Week Leap, so maybe his reaction is to be really sleepy? Works for me!

FelixFelix · 21/03/2014 22:14

Ooh yes they recently had 3 for 2 on at boots actually. DP said he doesn't mind buying them but it just seems so expensive to me haha. Maybe I'm just a bit tight...

fryingpantoface · 22/03/2014 07:51

I think they are expensive too

MrsVDB · 22/03/2014 08:17

Thank you book hopefully were working through it but time will tell

Henry slept a lot better last night even though we're at my parents (still woke every 3 hours but went back to sleep after). Although I was awake most of the night as found an amazing house I'm going to try and view today and was too excited!

Going out with my friends today so leaving h with my mum for the afternoon until dh takes over tonight. I'm staying out so it'll be his first day and night away from me. Hope he's ok

fryingpantoface · 22/03/2014 10:29

I'm sure he'll be fine MrsV, have a wonderful time!

FelixFelix · 22/03/2014 10:38

MrsV he will be fine! Don't worry and enjoy yourself Grin

pumpkinsweetie · 22/03/2014 11:30

Have fun MrsV Smile
I may be going out next week, first evening away from baba, eeek. Looking forward to it but at the same time I will miss my lil cherubkins.

Think baby pumpkin has colic, although sleeping throughout the night she has been screaming for an hr or more solid every evening for 5 evenings between 8-9- 1/2 9
Nothing settles her, tried winding her, rocking her, pacing the room etc but it doesn't settle her really.
She draws her legs up and clenches her fists as though she is in pain. Tried gripe water but that doesn't really work either. ..

TobyLerone · 23/03/2014 01:01

Quiet day on here yesterday! Hope everyone's well. I'm up with M asleep on my chest. I think she's had long enough upright now after her feed so I'm going to put her down in a sec. Absolutely dying for a drink so might have to go down and get one, even though I really cba.

She did an epic poo just before I fed her. I think that's what woke her up, as she's not usually up at this time. Doesn't Gaviscon make their poos evil?!

flyawayblue · 23/03/2014 01:30

Hey toby I'm up for the same reason Smile though Alice waited till after she had been fed and burped to have a massive go and wake herself up. Just going back to sleep now and I'm so hoping it will last.

Might have been mean to dh as he started talking when we came back in the room, I'd done the whole change with lights low and no talking... Once she starts excepting bottles again I'm just going to leave him for a night or two so he can learn why I don't talks to her and wake her up!

Hope everyone is okay.

TobyLerone · 23/03/2014 01:39

Morning, fly :) Your DH definitely needs to do some night duty penance.
My DH managed to wake me up from 60-odd miles away just before Meredith woke up. He's on a stag do in Brighton and texted to say he was having a good time :o

I'm still wide awake, though M is sleeping. How annoying.

Pidgy · 23/03/2014 03:01

Hi all,
I was at my parents on Friday night. DS loves going there as he loves the attention, toys (it's amazing what my mum has found in charity shops) and walking on the beach and a local farm. We tend to do the same things each time because he won't shut up about them so we're all pretty fed up of the small petting farm except him. Really wanted to go to the range or dunelm to get some picture frames for the hundreds of new photos we now have, but there wasn't time.

DS learnt how to climb out the cot there. He found it hilarious and so did we the first time. He eventually stayed put at 10pm..3 hours later. :-( Still woke up at the usual time though. Grrrr!

Lara is still waking 2-3 times a night for a feed and often not going back down after 4/5pm until 6.30-7 which is when DS gets up. Not sure what I can do to get her to sleep longer. Anyone know if a bottle of formula might help?
Ideally I wanted to avoid formula as we have lots of allergies both sides of the family and she's already got eczema. I heard breast milk limits allergies? But, I need more sleep as it's hard with a crazy, excitable toddler who seems more challenging each day.

Time to put her down. Hope you dozed off toby and fly, and yes, I got quite a nappy shock when we used gaviscon with DS. Paste!!

BookTart · 23/03/2014 16:12

Paste is definitely the word pidgy! I'm secretly quite pleased as it seems to have stopped the twice-daily, clothes-destroying poonamis :) If you find a way of getting Lara to sleep longer without formula then let me know, that sleep pattern sounds horribly familiar!

NCT reunion tonight. I'm hoping that as every single one of us has had trouble with sleep and feeding that it will be more honest and fun than the baby groups full of smug Alpha Mummies that I've been going to...

Did you have a good night out mrsv?

TobyLerone · 24/03/2014 09:35

book, have you seen that there is a 'sleep expert' going to Smug Mummies' Group tomorrow?

Hope your reunion was fun.

I'm sooooo tired this morning. Yesterday evening I suddenly started feeling horrendous. I was ok as I served dinner and by the time I'd finished eating I had a runny nose and a really sore throat. Can't stop sneezing and didn't sleep well.
DS had a man-cold last week and I guess I've got that. It was so odd how fast it came on!

Can't go back to bed because I'm waiting for a parcel -- some of the elastic on my nappies has failed, so Little Lambs are sending replacements. Very impressed with their customer service.

Pidgy · 24/03/2014 14:17

Hope you're feeling better toby.

Is there are wonder week growth spurt around 8/9 weeks. Lara is a right starvo! Can't seem to feed enough at the moment.

BookTart · 24/03/2014 14:44

pidgy yes there is! Percy went back to feeding hourly

Sorry you aren't well toby. I hope Meredith is doing okay. I can't make SMG because I'm going to Cinebabies to see a film I don't want to see. I think I might hire a consultant if things don't improve, although last night Percy slept on the bed instead of on me all night. If she does this more often then I'll attach a cot to the side of the bed :)

TobyLerone · 24/03/2014 15:03

That's excellent, book! Hope you feel a bit more rested today.
Cinebabies sounds like hell! Have fun Wink
I'll text you re Weds.

DD just texted to ask me to pick her up from school because she's got a headache and "might actually DIE!" My heart bleeds.

Naturegirl82 · 24/03/2014 18:14

pidgy there is a spurt around then. Going through it here as well so feel your pain!

O still hasn't had her jabs. I had to cancel the first appointment 3 weeks ago as it clashed with her alder hey appointment and they haven't sent a new one through yet. She is nearly 9weeks now so think I will chase tomorrow.

O's consultant has reviewed her ultrasound and has now decided to put her on antibiotics based on what that found which is not great. I'm hoping once the results are through from last weeks test that she may be able to come off them again.
