Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

Congratulations nature!

I'm at the train station because we're going to Sheffield for the night. I'm going to see a brother I've not seen in 4 years! He lives abroad, so he's not met my sons at all, I'm very excited

book definitely there's a 3 month growth spurt. Both of mine started to look less like newborns after that one. They also started to sleep a bit better.

TobyLerone · 11/04/2014 08:40

book, Google says growth spurts at 3m, 4m, 6m & 9m.
Good luck with the paediatrician today.
Btw, I dreamt last night that you and I took Percy and Meredith to a Baby Horror Film Make-up class :o

Congrats on your promotion, nature! Hope you feel better soon.

Nature that's brilliant re your promotion! Well done. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Book that sounds awful Sad I think there's one from around 14-16 weeks so maybe she's just slightly early with it. Hope the paediatrician goes well today.

Fizzy you'll be fine at Jamie's Italian! We have taken Sylvie to quite a few restaurants in Leeds and she's mostly slept through it apart from a couple of times. I always just try and remember your baby crying sounds so much louder to you than it does to everyone else Grin also restaurants are usually quite loud anyway so no one would even notice.

Ooo we are nearly at the end of our first postnatal thread!

toby thanks for the info. I was hoping that rewashing it would sort any problems out.

I don't do much with O in the house. She goes on her playmat for a bit, and I also hold her rattle in front of her as she likes the flashing lights and music. She has just started to spin it by herself as well. Then it's mainly watching tv!

Had a lovely day yesterday. Popped into work for half an hour as I was passing. Found out I'm being promoted (will be with pay rise as well but I don't know what yet) and being made office manager in my office Grin . Was quite a surprise.

Then went and met my friend for lunch and cake at this lovely place. O was really good all day and mostly slept in the car and even slept through so I could eat my lunch in peace Smile I thought this old lady was going to comment on me bf but she said how well behaved O was Smile . although she did think O was a boy even though she was wearing pink and wrapped in a pink blanket!

I had major boob leakage yesterday though as O slept so much. Went through 3 sets of reusable breast pads and even had to hand express some off as the fountain just wouldn't stop! Luckily I'd thrown some spare pads into the changing bag on a whim yesterday morning.

Feel awful again now though. Developed a cough and can barely swallow so a nice lazy day for us today.

No baby disco here either, sadly. I'm pretty sure Persephone is breathing a huge sigh of relief about that though, as I have no shame on gage dance floor and would totally show her up :)

fizzy I put her under her baby gym, in her bouncy chair, swing, tummy time, sing songs, walk around the garden. I try foisting books on her, but she's not interested in anything that doesn't rattle or have a mirror in it!

Bloody hell the last 24 hours have been hideous. Percy cluster fed from about lunch time yesterday, after missing her morning nap completely. She fed herself to sleep, then napped on me and woke up shrieking every time, then repeated over and over until bedtime. She then woke up hourly through the night, and has started with the sleeping/feeding again today. We're seeing the paediatrician for her reflux this afternoon, so I'm hoping for some help on the feeding, but does anyone else know what might be wrong? Is there a three month growth spurt? The waking up screaming is very upsetting but the only answer I can find online is an ear infection but she's not got any other sign of that. Poor Percy, she's having such a miserable start :(

I think Jamie's Italian is casual enough to take children to. Even babies!

Fizzy I think it's a tricky one... So far F has only been out to Giraffe which is uber-family friendly. It was so nice to get out and have a proper table service meal... I think it depends on how you feel. I was very comfortable in Giraffe, happily bf at the table, staff were brilliant in terms of giving me more time to eat even when the rest of the table had finished.

I'd probably go for it in Jamie's - especially if it was with other mums. Also I think it's a bit easier at lunch time - it's more casual and other diners are more tolerant.

I'm with Felix, so jealous of the cool stuff in London. I'm in Scotland and can't seem to find anything except coffee mornings.

By the way, what's the protocol to taking out young, potentially screamy babies to nice restaurants for lunch? I got invited out to lunch with some non-mum friends to a Jamie's Italian, but because DS feeds so frequently and can get quite grumpy, I bailed. I must admit I was one of those people who got annoyed with yelling kiddies before I had DS! Do you all avoid those sort of places now, or should I just go and hold my head up?

angel I find h likes books that have actual stories if you know what I mean rather than the shorter picture books. Obviously not saying he understands the story or anything but think he gets frustrated with me turning the page every word! I got some more out the library today

H seems to like noisy toys which he giggles at avd loved a friends laughing and vibrating elmo toy, he's 9w. I don't really have much so need to go shopping

fly don't worry if a screams, I'm sure other babies will too :)

Fly we have an ergo and it's really great. I know a couple of others on here have one too.

Becca I don't really do much. I'll put music on for her and she will lie on the bed and wriggle about after her bath. And ill wave toys at her and sing. She just loves watching telly the most Hmm we have a baby gym thing for her but I have to rearrange all the living room furniture for her to go on it so I never bother as she starts whinging after 5 minutes!

Angel, Sylvie has only just started being interested in toys in the past few days (she's 16 weeks on Sunday). She will now hold them and shove them in her mouth and smile if I wave them at her. Most of the little toys I've got are too heavy or big for her to hold yet as she can't really grasp very well. It just happened all of a sudden!

Not "charting", chatting

Also - keep trying to get F interested in his books... No luck yet!

Report
Angelesque · 10/04/2014 21:41

becca baby gym, swing chair, vibrating chair, chatting, singing, "show and tell" (ie walking round showing him things). I do find it hard to think of new things to do with F while he's so little - in any case his favourite thing seems to be charting, which is lovely :)

At what age do babies start really playing with toys? F loves being in his baby gym, but it's really just to looks at everything rather than grab the toys and "play" with them...

flyawayblue I think the Ergo carriers are meant to be good.

What do you ladies do to entertain your babies? We've got a baby gym thing, and he watches TV if it's on, and I sit and 'chat' to him when I get a minute. I think I need to do a bit more with him though as he does look bored sometimes, but can't remember what I did with DD.

Report
flyawayblue · 10/04/2014 21:18

Another one who's not keen on tummy time here, she just looks at me like what's the point of this mummy.. I can't see the tv or my toys! I mostly forget about it though so she doesn't try it very often.

Had a mixed day, bcg this morning which was fine and lovely afternoon in the park with my aunt but Alice was unsettled and screamed quite a bit. Down asleep now and hopefully she won't be like that tomorrow for the lunch as that will not be fun!

Looking at going to a sling meet next week as not sure about the connecta I have so want to try out some other carriers, anyone have any preferences? I also have a moby but find that too much fabric for outside..

I know, where I live we don't have anything like it at all. You can start horse riding lessons at 18months though Hmm

toby definitely no rolling back to front - still doing best stranded beetle impression. Not much of anything except whinging today in fact.

Alex doesn't seem to mind tummy time. I think it helped him when he was younger. Dd hated it and wasn't really happy til she could sit and see what was happening.

I'm sooooooo jealous of baby loves disco! There's a 'baby rave' I'm here but the music they play is absolute shite and it's basically just a soft play with lights and someone playing music. I am massive on electronic music and I'd love to go somewhere that plays decent stuff where I could take Sylvie. London always has all the cool stuff Sad

Hope it gets sorted soon million

Baby pumpkin hates tummy time too, I try her a few times a week but only for a few minutes as she absolutely hates it.

Tarka we have baby loves disco here (Surrey but inside M25) too and it's meant to be very good.

I've not been arsed with tummy time. Does that make me a bad mum lol? I've tried a couple of times and he just mashes his face into the blanket and cries. I never did it with DD either, mainly because I didn't know I was supposed to until she was 5.5 months. She sat unaided a week later! She was a textbook baby for milestones. Crawled at 9 months, walked just after her first birthday. The only thing she didn't do was roll until she was about 10 months, and I think even then it was by accident!

Report
TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 16:11

Brag away, Tarka :o

Rolling front to back is easier for babies than from back to front. That's why I'd be a bit Hmm about 3mo babies doing it.

I should get a scan date soon, but the registrar at the hospital has recommended something which should stop the bleeding. If it doesn't, there are another few tablets I can take, well another two. They don't want me using the pill because it could still be post natal bleeding. In fact, the registrar and the gp believe it is.

So pleased you've all said your babies love TV. F's discovered it this week and is just transfixed... DH reckons F particularly likes tedious re runs of Top Gear Hmm

Fingers crossed we've escaped DH's norovirus... We're four days down the line and DH is pretty much better now. F had his first jabs yesterday (so traumatic... For me Blush) and he's turned into Velcro baby...
