Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

No sleeping through or rolling here either Smile Alice seems to have a painful pattern of 1/2am, 4/5am wouldn't be that bad but dh gets up at 6am.

I'm also the worst mother as she's discovered the tv! She's currently post feed sitting in her bouncer dancing along to bad adverts...

I haven't had her weighted in a month and here the 8 week hv visit is optional and you have to book it yourself, don't think I've seen the hv since she was 4 weeks and she's 10 weeks now.

FelixFelix · 10/04/2014 08:37

Fly, Sylvie always watches tv Blush she will stretch and turn her head as far as possible just to see it. She tries to talk to it too Grin

TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 08:48

Meredith likes tv too. She sits and shouts at the news while we have dinner. It's great!

FizzypopFireball · 10/04/2014 09:01

DS (another Henry!) loves watching TV too. He's absolutely hooked. Not surprising as it's on all the time in our house.

Pidgy · 10/04/2014 09:05

Lara loves tv too! She nearly breaks her neck to get a good look.

Welcome fizzy.

toby once the fist few weeks are over I completely agree that breastfeeding is much easier. No sterilising, nothing to forget when you go out, free and means I can scoff chocolate and still lose weight. Grin

Anyone know how much volume (average) a breastfed baby takes? Just out of interest really.

TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 09:23

I am far, far too lazy to FF. I don't even express because I cba Blush

Anyone want to knit a cardigan for Meredith in 2 weeks?! I decided to knit one for a wedding we're going to. Started it weeks ago. It's currently about 3" long, and only the back panel at that. What possessed me to knit with yarn which is the approximate thickness of embroidery silk??

TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 09:24

No idea on the volume, Pidgy.

FizzypopFireball · 10/04/2014 09:37

I'm getting a feel for what it's like to FF - we've started on infant gaviscon due to silent reflux, and the only way Henry will take it is to mix it with expressed milk and feed him with a bottle, which means the faff of expressing, sterilising and all that. I usually pump after his 5am feed. I've got a wee stash in the freezer now, which means I can go out and get my hair cut and coloured tomorrow while DH holds the fort. Yay - me time!

Pidgy, I'm hoping that Henry will be happy with about 200ml in the 3 hrs I'm out, but I have no idea really how much he takes.

TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 09:40

Meredith is on Gaviscon too, but I'm lucky enough that she takes it from a syringe.

FizzypopFireball · 10/04/2014 09:48

Toby we tried the syringe but found he let it dribble out so most of it ended up under his double chin! How much do you squirt in in one go? It seemed to take forever to get the 15ml in so that he didn't gag. He should really take the double dose of 2 sachets as he's over 10pounds but to syringe in 30mls seems impossible!

TobyLerone · 10/04/2014 10:02

Ah. I mix it up much thicker than it says. Usually just over 5ml for the 2 sachets, but I don't measure. I only know it's usually around 5ml because I use the Calpol syringe to administer it.

I don't know if there's any reason not to make it up thicker than directed. It's no thicker than Calpol, so it can't be a choking hazard, and it's definitely doing the job.

I only squirt in a little bit at a time, with her tilted back on my knee a bit. I squirt it into her cheeks, IYSWIM.

beccajoh · 10/04/2014 11:02

Can't remember if I've posted this already Confused My daughter really wasn't interested in food until she was about a year old. I found it quite stressful, mainly because she was a really crap sleeper and I think food would really have made a difference - well it definitely would have done because once she started eating she was able to sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time. She ate odd bits of finger food before then, but absolutely nothing from a spoon until about ten months, and even then it was only a couple of mouthfuls. The child loves her milk!

Going to see wean DS when he seems ready. My GP did say we could start at 17 weeks because of his reflux but not sure how keen I am on that idea. Will see when the time comes.

The allergies bit - a baby's gut is either mature or it isn't. I don't think it suddenly matures overnight at six months, but I guess to be on the safe side I'll leave cows milk etc until after six months.

beccajoh · 10/04/2014 11:16

I've done BF and FF and have to say I find FF WAAAAY less hassle Blush. Washing and sterilising bottles takes about 5 mins a day, I've got the tommee tippee machine that does bottles properly in 2 mins, so no waiting around with a screaming baby in the middle of the night. I probably spend 90 mins in total a day sorting and making bottles and feeding, versus the HOURS I spent feeding DD. I can go out for more than an hour or two, DH can do night feeds etc etc. Obviously in an ideal world I would have BF DS for more than two weeks but there were other factors involved Sad

flyawayblue · 10/04/2014 11:26

Thank you for the tv comments.

I wish I had continued mixed feeding as Alice is now refusing any attempt at bottles. She was mixed feed until three weeks and then after the tt cut I exclusively bf as they told me it would help her pain and she was so upset for days. Bf does seem easier but as we're trying with bottles we have the worst of both - sterilising, expressing, trying non cows milk formula, me not able to leave Alice as I'm the only one who can feed...

As she won't

Pidgy · 10/04/2014 11:39

toby I made the gaviscon thicker too with DS. It was hard to syringe a larger volume in. Much easier with only 5 ml. Plus I was using an infacol dropper which took forever!

fly has someone else tried feeding from a bottle? She might associated you with boobies and nothing else!

I've sort of accepted that I'm tied to Lara for the near future as I can't be arsed expressing either. Takes ages to get a small amount. With DS, after a certain point he refused a bottle over and over but miraculously took one when he realised it was the only thing on offer when we went to a wedding. He was weaned at that point though so I knew he was getting some food if he didn't take it, and he would take small amounts in a beaker too. My social life in the evenings is pretty shit anyway currently so don't feel I'm missing out too much.

TarkaTheOtter · 10/04/2014 12:15

pidgy I think bfed babies always take around 3-5oz. As they get older they take about the same amount but the milk gets fattier so they still get the extra calories they need.

TarkaTheOtter · 10/04/2014 12:19

I'm also not expressing. With dh away I'm pretty much tied to the dcs 24/7 anyway. Not long til we'll be able to leave them with a pot of yogurt anyway.

TarkaTheOtter · 10/04/2014 12:24

Hope people didn't seriously think I was bragging about the rolling. Dd hit her physical milestones pretty late so well aware it's not a race.

FelixFelix · 10/04/2014 12:54

Tarka I'd brag about the rolling! I love hearing when everyone's babies can do new things Grin

I'm so bored today. Still need to get in to the habit of taking Sylvie out for walks but there's nowhere to go Hmm I'm dedicating today to doing all the washing! Also just bought some new pillows (4x silentnight ones reduced to £10 from £37.50 on BHS website + free delivery if anyone is interested!) and booked Sylvie's 3rd immunisations and to have the coil fitted at the end of the month Shock

TarkaTheOtter · 10/04/2014 13:16

Thanks felix. I'm really bad at getting out and about during the holidays when dds groups are shut. I was so bored yesterday I made her help me wash my car with Alex in the Ergo. Dh has taken the shed key away with him so I didn't have a hose so we did it with buckets. Tbh we just moved the mud around a bit rather than cleaned it. Dd started kindly pointing out to strangers that "mummy car is FILTHY". Then moved on to "mummy house is FILTHY". Umm thanks for that!

TarkaTheOtter · 10/04/2014 13:18

For those who live in London, I came across this the other day for when they are a bit older.

pumpkinsweetie · 10/04/2014 13:26

My little one is guilty of loving a good bit of tellyBlush
Especially curious george and the meerkat adverts, she is also partial to the soaps tooGrin

flyaway I haven't seen a Hv since pumpkin was around 4 weeks too. My hv has cancelled her 3m check until kids go back to school.
I haven't had her weighed either as I know she is gaining weight as she should as she is now bursting out of her 0-3 and getting into 3-6m clothes now!

pumpkin is good at night, I guess I am very lucky. She has become very clingy and whingey when I'm out and about though lol. Can't even go shopping without picking her upShock . Can't have everything I suppose

AMillionNameChangesLater · 10/04/2014 15:24

Don't be silly tarka I'd brag!

henry is 9lb 13 so he's lost 2ozs this week. He did have his jabs which won't have helped.

I'm currently at the Drs about the bleeding. The Dr said it wasnt normal that I'm still bleeding very old blood. It's so old that it's almost black. He's sending me for a scan I think to make sure the placenta is all out. He's on the phone to the hospital now

MrsVDB · 10/04/2014 15:26

Another TV watcher here! Tummy time is lie on the floor like a seal and watch tv I'm afraid.

Today I've been to rhyme time and baby massage and think I might of finally made some friends yeay! And then lunch at Dorchester tomorrow :)

Thanks for asking toby no change here. Still in limbo really

MrsVDB · 10/04/2014 15:26

Good luck million hopefully they'll sort it for you
