That sounds like a plan yw but I am sorry about the dairy. P is now typically one nap a day with maybe a half an hour in the morning. She hasn't slept past 3pm since maybe 11 months. She is totally ready for sleep by bedtime at 7pm but manages well. It probably helps that her afternoon nap is now maybe 2.5 hours or so rather than 45 minutes sometimes

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 20:25

The Historian is one of my favourite books. It's so beautifully written. I bet you loved the Oxford bits. So well described.

Nursery put on a brilliant party. We had to leave quite quickly as LO was knackered but they had transformed the place since this morning. Was a winter wonderland. And the food was brilliant. And Father Christmas was suitably scary :o

Our remaining cat was rescued too. We got him from a couple of mad cat lovers who live on the edge of the forest. They put the unrehomeables into the forest, vaccinated and fed them. There are little shelters dotted around. They keep about 15 in their flat and rehome all they can. Ours was also semi feral but six years on has the occasional cuddle, more so since t'other puss was pts. He is part wild cat, actual wild cat, so huge - 8kg is his natural weight when he's not carrying a beer belly and has never hurt a soul deliberately. Except the vet. And wouldn't you if you'd just been de-bolloxed? Is great friends with the dog.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 20:27

Oh when LO cried at Father Christmas the nursery worker was a bit Hmm when I snorted and said That's the shot I wanted Xmas Grin

Passmethecrisps · 12/12/2013 20:28

8kg?!? Chuff me! P is just over 8kg! Aging pussy is 2kg.

ValiumQueen · 12/12/2013 20:39

Loving the idea of calling a cat Jesus Grin I know I shouldn't, but I love it! (Prepares to be struck by lightening)

Passmethecrisps · 12/12/2013 20:40

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 20:40

I liked that too. Reminded me of the joke with a burglar:

A burglar broke into a home and was looking around. He heard a soft voice say, "Jesus is watching you". Thinking it was just his imagination, he continued his search. Again the voice said "Jesus is watching you". He turned his flashlight around and saw a parrot in a cage.

He asked the parrot if he was the one talking and the parrot said, "yes."

He asked the parrot what his name was and the parrot said, "Moses."

The burglar asked, "what kind of people would name a parrot Moses?"

The parrot said, "the same kind of people who would name their pit bull Jesus".

Evening guys! Lookit me on a roll with postings! Thankful thursday - i am thankful e has taken to cows milk and I was brave enough not to make up an emergency bottle of formula tonight :)

stunt you do sound busy! Bless you, hope you manage to enjoy tonight a bit even if you're not too keen on going

Safe trip for tomorrow sophia bet your girls are so excited to be seeing you too!

how is o chasing? hope he sleeps ok tonight what with teething bless him

pp you are far from a failure and 0 hour contracts are very unfair :( when dp had one he was lucky enough to at least get some hours every week but on the weeks he had only a couple we found it very stressful

wooo for your good surprise yw how fab!!!

pr i would've stood near the baby too

ooooh a kitty det :) lovely :) e loves my cats. Luckily for him the raggies are the softest things in the world ever and are very patient with him

hey always of course we remember you!

woohoo for the independent steps pp wonderful :)

bless him yw that's fab :)

glad m's session went well today isles :)

oh pikz hugs :(

gosh vq eric is 87cm and I thought that plenty big enough!

house looks lovely isles :) Is P on a last chance or is it just a case of you biding your time until you can afford to leave?

I would love another cat. A blue point ragdoll to be exact. And his name will be frost. And i will love him and snuggle him. but not yet! Besides, the usual thing for me is to set my heart on something, then go to a rescue and pick the scruffiest looking least likely to get a home type critter and take that instead XD

forgot what else i wanted to say

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 20:44

Only in France? Huge truck pulled up outside this afternoon. Delivered about 100 crates of champagne to my neighbour's. Second truck pulled up minutes later, deliveringnpacks of paté, foie gras, duck confit.

Ever since the whole village has been lining up outside my neighbour's house to pick up their Christmas orders. Bloke opposite is a food wholesaler so gets it cheap in bulk ie less than half price.

Yes, we ordered some champagne and yes, I am about to take my first sip.

There is a huge party going on opposite. Damn those kids we had to get to bed, we could have joined in :o

Pikz · 12/12/2013 20:48

Thank you PR I needed that joke.

It's definitely not been my week. We appear to have avoided a and e for now. What a hell of a lot of blood.

Hugs all round my brain is very frazzled

Passmethecrisps · 12/12/2013 20:49

You would never, ever get that round my way pr! Deliveries of Doritos and tennants super? Sure thang!

And, YWNBU for standing next to the baby. He was bein a dick to look annoyed. I could have understood his annoyance if you had berated him or picked the baby up but you were using common sense. I was a bit Hmm in ikea at the weekend when a man popped a 6 month old on one of the sofas in the cafe and then got distracted by the toddler. I was much too far away to do anything but I was a bit nervous. That baby wasn't even moving but I know that p would have been off!

FlouncingIsles · 12/12/2013 20:50

Kyz 99% of me is biding my time. The stupid/naïve/idiotic 1% is willing him to change his ways. But I am a realist, and really I will either by that house or another. On. my. own. Smile

YellowWellies · 12/12/2013 20:51

Kyz when I lived south of the river a neighbour moved out leaving her blue point ragdoll behind Sad I really wanted to adopt her but she and Mr Cat didn't hit it off - so upstairs adopted her instead.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 20:57

Christmas isn't Christmas in France without expensive grapes and force fed ducks...

pikz bust lips and bitten tongues produce masses of blood it is scary. But quickly forgotten. DD1 has dislodged teeth at least twice but they seem to put themselves right. Like huge bruises you just get used to it. Just before LO was born DD1 climbed on the sofa and flipped herself off the back landing on her face. There was blood, and tears, but I was already immune. Checked her limbs and for signs of concussion or need for stitches. Recently tested a fab first aid app for MN, well worth downloading. It's free.

Evilwater · 12/12/2013 21:07

I've had a day at home. It's been lovely.

Ex p has gotten wrong the time again for tomorrow. He thought he had n till 11. But he agreed to just an hour. Grr.... Angry He also wants the house papers too. All asked for at 1640 today. Angry
Oh and "I forgot to tell him of the HV seeing n" and nosing at my place. But it's not his business! Angry

Evil

ValiumQueen · 12/12/2013 21:17

Evil all good reminders for why he is ex ((((hugs))))

I am quite good with blood. Having kept a bloke alive after his jugular was slashed for the 45 minutes it took for the ambulance to arrive, and having to apply pressure all that time, blood barely gets a nod.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/12/2013 21:26

I think was I backed up by someone else who recommended the potato peeling book!

pp I really felt for you today and wanted to come and look after you. Have thought that a few times actually. Big hugs.

Hi there always sorry about your boob issues! hope they are sorting themselves out.

pikz how is L now? How is mummy now?

isles I like that house best of all I think. I hope is still on market, how quick do things move round by you?

Elizadoesdolittle · 12/12/2013 21:35

pikz Snap! We had a split lip and loads of blood here too today! Once the swelling had calmed down and the blood had stopped I could see it deosn't need stiches i hope. DD1 decided to put E in her plastic crappy shopping trolley and push her around. I don't know if the trolley flipped over, or if she flipped out of it. Guess that doesn't really matter. Anyway all was fine here thankgoodness. Glad L was ok too.

pp I'm sorry you didn't get the job news that you wanted.

pr YANBU at all. What a dick splash. Glad the party was a success.

This morning (before trolley incident) we had a nice morning wrapping presents. Chaotic with a 1 yr old and 3 yr old as you can imagine but I let my anal wrapping perfection slide and we actually had fun. DD1 was surprisingly good at it. She did tell DH in great detail what she'd wrapped for him when he got home which made me giggle.

Tomorrow it's DD1's christmas show for the dance class she goes to then I have a girlie dinner at my fave local chinese just 5 mins stagger from my house. Prosecco is chilling in the fridge ready for pre dinner drinks. Dh is not only looking after the girls but DN too. They should hopefully all be tucked up in bed, that's the therory anyway Grin.

FlouncingIsles · 12/12/2013 21:39

M is still awake. Screaming at me.

I have mock exams to sit and a bath which I've been longing for all week waiting. I have showered every day, honest!

I really really hate this is the only time we spend together at the moment Sad

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/12/2013 21:49

(((Hugs))))) isles it will level off I promise. Xx

horseylady · 12/12/2013 21:57

Today e went 12.15 to 9pm with no nap. And no tantrum either.

I can not get him in bed before 830. He's just not tired. And he's up at 6.30/7ish most days.

Generally naps 1-3. Today was 10.30-12.15. Go figure?!

pikz hugs. Amazed no split lips here. But I feel we've had a fair share of illness!

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 22:04

The local scouts here do present wrapping for a fee. Next year they're doing mine. You know the gorgeous xmas day photo of all the presents? I'm going to tell everyone dd1 wrapped them. She didn't. I did. Stone cold sober but you Wouldn't know it. Yesterday I said I hate wrapping presents. At lunchtime today I remembered why. It also reminded me of why I don't knit or decorate cakes. I have rough floppy hands. I am good with words, not hands.

horseylady · 12/12/2013 22:05

Me too pr

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 22:09

isles she is screaming at you because she can. DD1 was angelic with cm when I went back to work but was a banshee all evening. She was not unhappy, just emotional. She's not punishing you, she's just screaming it out. Bedtime is the shittiest time of the day. They don't want it, you do. It's a readymade battle. Think of the weekend.

Zamboni · 12/12/2013 22:16

Might have been me sophia, I love it too. The Historian is on my kindle YW and PR.

Pidj shitty luck, again. Zero hours are a bastard and shouldn't be allowed IMVHO.

pikz scary stuff. Mouths bleed loads very fast. DD is constantly busting her lip.

She's currently sporting a black eye from bashing the corner of the fridge as DH opened it, and a fat lip after falling out of the front door down the step. I took her to the dentist who asked DD/me what had happened. I meant to explain as above. I actually said "oh she got on the wrong side of DH" which sounds like he's walloped her. I am expecting SS any moment...

flouncy how is the recovery going?

always lovely to hear from you Grin

I'm enjoying kyz's return to epic posting form. Smile

evil glad you are settling into new home.

Early train to the big bad smoke tomorrow so need to be asleep an hour ago...

Night quiche!
