Evening guys. On my phone so might not be a typical epic post but will give it a go! Think it's been quite quiet today?

E has drank his cows milk again, he left a little though but I'm hoping that won't make a difference to his sleeping :/

Poo (lovely topic) today, and he ate very well at tea, after the dirty nappy, and his mood improved, I will keep keeping a log and will probably end up at the doctors next week if the cycle keeps, well, cycling!

pikz yay, time off! Please do rest x

Gosh sophia that sounds so confusing!

Glad you're feeling a bit better pr

gt tomorrow sounds like heaps of fun! I hope fh is helpful since he's gotten you in the predicament of a long ass day! Hope h is ok bless him

stunt very helpful thanks, perhaps doctors is wise now rather than later just in case :/ I'll ring and see what they say I think

chasing what a fab post :) I'm proud to know you and call you a quiche friend, you're an inspiration and you and o are doing fab

Congrats for phd passing pass to your dh!!

Ohhh another happy post, brill evil, you too are doing flipping fab! Very proud of you also :)

FC you get the job pp :)

vq they would be daft not to give you the job what with you being so brilliant and all that :) I hope you get where you deserve to be :)

Oh horsey hope your poor doglet is ok :(

I am enjoying these positive posts :)

misslaughalot how are you now?

BigPigLittlePig · 11/12/2013 22:07

Lots of job related things floating around - good luck to all that need it.

And lots of positive posts which is also lovely to hear.

First night with the puppy was, well, fine. Not a peep from her. Just a big stretch and a yawn when we went in this morning closely followed by a wee and a poo.

GT I don't know how you find the time to do the things you do! When F was a few months old, I accomplished very very little in a typical day. Even now, if it was just me and her, nothing creative/crafty could be done, as she wants to be right by me. So I salute you!

Kyz hope Es bum situation is sorted, sounds nasty for him poor soul.

This revolting cold/viral thing is lingering on and on. Wish it would bugger off now. Sore throats and blocked ears are not that compatible with shouting to deaf patients Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/12/2013 22:54

Knackered after second late night in a row, but popping in to say MY SS ARRIVED. made my day!

And congrats chasing remember how inspirational you are and make sure to have some champers. Xx

Pikz · 11/12/2013 23:03

Curled up in bed with the quiche and a box of balsam.

Was bound to succom to some of his illness.

However we can both slob tomorrow and I've not got too much more work to do.

Big huggles all round.

ValiumQueen · 12/12/2013 02:01

Awake since 11. Finally dropped off. Cannot feel my arm. Grr.

ChasingDaisy · 12/12/2013 05:40

Fecking teeth. My poor boy. Yawn.

Exciting day ahead. My old school friend is coming down - haven't seen her in 10 years - and we are off to relive our youth at the Big Reunion concert Grin Not looking forward to leaving my boy overnight though, especially as he is in teething hell Sad

Lily311 · 12/12/2013 06:31

Mumsnet is playing up here. Wrote a long post and it's gone.

Sorry chasing for shit night! enjoy the reunion.

O was up at 5.30, she shouted ik, ik which is milk. She has a bit of cold so warmed up. Bottle and she drained it. She is back in bed now.

kyz meant to say, o does at least 2 poos a day. Often 3. She never had a day without a poo.

vq good luck with job

pikz boo for illness but yey for time off.

What does everyone do for Xmas present for grandparents? I did footprints on canvas (don't care what they are doing with it, I'm on a mission to clutter their house with O's artworks) and a mini photobook of her pictures as my mum always complains what a hassle it is to print them. I'm thinking of home made gingerbread cookies too. I don't want to buy anything, we agreed to only buy things for kids.

Kyz · 12/12/2013 06:57

Morning all. Sat waiting for my first cuppa to cool down. It had better hurry up, I doubt it'll take long though with how bloody cold it is this morning!

Anyway...

Glad puppy is behaving bplp :) hope the cold buggers off soon.

Hope you don't end up too poorly pikz

Hope you got some sleep in the end vq?

chasing teeth are a ball ache, E still only has two! But a couple feel like they're getting there and will pop through soon. I hope you have a good time tonight and hopefully o will settle alright :)

Bless her lily how sweet of her to ask for milk. I have made a calendar for dps parents and my mum as they will love them. I am tempted to do something else involving handprints but I'm not sure what exactly.

What is everyone else up to today? And how is stunt, stunt are you ok?

Today, well this morning, I have my DN for the morning. She is 17mo so with e that'll be fun!

StuntNun · 12/12/2013 07:05

Just hectic here Kyz! I did all my Christmas shopping between Saturday and Tuesday, we had our old neighbours round for dinner yesterday with their two kids in tow - cue much furious tidying up and cleaning, not to mention cooking. Tonight DH and I are going to see Black Sabbath and DMIL is babysitting but it's her birthday so I have to make her a lovely birthday dinner first. Hopefully we'll get our Christmas tree on Saturday then I have a week to get my Christmas food shopping organised - we now have 11 for Christmas dinner eep - before heading over to my mum's next Friday for the weekend for her birthday. I'm so looking forward to Boxing Day when I won't be doing anything!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/12/2013 08:09

Sounds chaos stunt but am sure it will be brill.

Have a great day chasing despite lack of sleep.

Hope you manage excessive slobbing today pikz

I am just about to desposite the O at Nanny's and take Ds1 round with me while I give in his admissions forms at the relevant places am having an unnecessary wobble about them loosing my forms and not submitting them!

Then is family group Christmas party. I am off to England tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing my girls more than you could imagine! Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 08:21

Morning all. My big thankful Thursday goes to the roads for not being icy when I had to go the long back roads to the nursery.

Nursery are having their Christmas do tonight. At 6.15. When LO is normally eating. I think I'll go up a bit earlier with a bottle for her, and hope the excitement stops her from being a total nutter until we can slip away by 7. I think they're putting a buffet of some kind on. And Father Christmas is coming so should be able to get the obligatory tearful photo :o

If the bloody roads weren't closed I'd go get her early and bring her home for some quiet time but sod it, I'm not doing the long route three times in the dark in one day.

Good luck with the applications vq and horsey .

Hope your dog is ok horsey .

Bad night for me - insomnia. LO is a tad unsettled from her jabs so didn't dare pop a pill.

Nursery are doing a Chinese menu today including prawns and crispy pancakes. DD1 loves prawns but not pancakes so I hope tonight's buffet is full of crap to fill up on. She couldn't sleep last night for exitement about Father Christmas. Was a reminder of the years to come of Christmas excitement Xmas Smile So it begins....

I'm either going to slob on the sofa today or do some wrapping while slobbing on the sofa. Decisions...

ChasingDaisy · 12/12/2013 08:50

Has anyone seen O? I fear he has drowned in a river of dribble. How can one tiny person produce so much fluid?!

PurplePidjin · 12/12/2013 09:41

I didn't get it. They want me to carry on 0 hours. I'm seriously considering saying no - it's a total ballache: short notice of sometimes just a couple of hours, 25 minutes drive, all for £30. Worth it in expectation of regular hours eventually, but that doesn't seem likely now. I am a total and utter abject failure

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 10:01

pidj you are not a failure, please don't think that Flowers Cake Really really really not a failure.

Pikz · 12/12/2013 10:09

PP you are the furthest thing from failure. I will be very glad when 0 hour contracts are banned. It just takes the piss.

PurplePidjin · 12/12/2013 10:24

My entire career has been like this. Get job, love job, fail to get promoted for stupid reason. Fucked off.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 11:15

Yes zero hour contracts are utter bollocks. Is anyone planning on banning them at the next election?

Lily311 · 12/12/2013 11:30

What is zero hour contract? Never heard of it. You are not a failure, far from it. ((Hugs))

We went to tesco and will stay in all afternoon. I'm too tired. Oh but I need to go to post office. Sod it, will go tomorrow.

PurplePidjin · 12/12/2013 11:32

It suited me at the time - i was 7 months pregnant at interview - but the idea was that it was a stepping stone. So now i just feel worthless and my trust has been broken, another in a great huge line of people queuing up to kick me.

StuntNun · 12/12/2013 12:09

I'm really not looking forward to Black Sabbath tbh, I only said I would go because DH wanted to see them. If had known my FIL was going then I wouldn't have agreed to go. I actually tried to sell my ticket on Gumtree but it didn't sell. Hmm

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 12:14

I was on something similar to a zero hours contract for three years in Paris. It was my sole source of income and quite honestly was a very stressful way to live. The good months could be ok, but the bad months were awful (4 hours work one August) and nothing in case of sickness or holiday.

YellowWellies · 12/12/2013 13:57

Zero hours contracts are like freelance but with none of the perks (ability to dictate your own hours and clients and high hourly rate) they are so undermining of worker's rights and any sense of security and make me fume about our so called economic 'recovery'. I'm so sorry Pidj you deserve better luck you really do.

I've had a good surprise. I'm dead chuffed that DH's clients have changed his team's travel plans just five hours before he was meant to fly! He was meant to be heading off today to the Falklands for 11 days today taking 7 flights each way and spending 4 days of that travelling. The Argentinian government have been sabre rattling that any contractors flying via Argentina to the Falkland islands on oil industry business risk arrest - so DH's client has chartered a Lear (!!!!! I know!!!) to fly them from Houston to the Falklands so they can avoid Argentina (and the risk of being in a South American jail for Christmas!).

So now he'll only be gone 7 days and doesn't leave until Sunday and will be home well before Christmas. He's still missing his birthday but I'm so relieved. I was dreading 11 days without him as he's such a star. The bear and I can handle a week on our own. Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 14:53

That's brilliant news yw you must be really delighted. Oil in the Falklands eh? The French news never mention that when doing their hypocritical anti-British-colonialism misinformed rants on the matter Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 12/12/2013 15:35

I have an AIBU. At nursery in the entrance area there is a bench where the bigger children sit to take off shoes etc, and a kind of wide shelf where you remove baby's coats etc. like a huge changing table. This morning a bloke came in with his baby and toddler like me and lay the baby (about 6mo max but could be smaller due to all the winterwear he had on) on the shelf and went off to look after the toddler, putting the coat on pegs etc.

I was waiting to do the same for my two. Bearing in mind the changing shelf thing is quite high and the baby was kind of shuffling around WIBU to go and stand right next to it to make sure it didn't fall off? These things happen so quickly. I wasn't going to say anything but the bloke looked really angry when he realised what I was doing so I muttered something untrue about me being paranoid because both mine fell off changing tables and it's quite scary, at which point he just looked furious.

I know I would and do get seriously pissed off at other parents' unwanted advice and criticism but wibu to go and hover to stop the baby falling? It looked pretty precarious. He'll be at the party tonight no doubt and am dreading another evil look.

TheDetective · 12/12/2013 15:55

Nah, NBU. I reckon my DP would do something similarly stupid. I'd rather someone reminded him not to be so fecking stupid.

I have a cat. Shock. Well, it's still a kitten really Confused.

I only went out for lunch FFS! It's how we ended up with the dog too!.

The cats and dogs home is right next to the posh garden centre. We took O to look at them. DP is a fucking soft arse, honestly.

Anyway, cat and dog seem relatively non plussed about each other, although the dog is insisting on reminding me that she was here first, and is therefore higher in the pecking order Hmm. Cat is sat in the highest place in the room, flicking V's at the dog and putting things in their 'rightful' order.

I have no idea how the fuck we are going to work the whole litter tray thing. This cat will be a house cat. So we do need one. Hmm

DP's out buying kitty essentials. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Cat is mostly black, little bits of white. I want to call him Jesus. DP disagrees. So we need a name for him. Baring in mind the last 2 times we tried to pick a name, the dog ended up with her original name because we couldn't find anything else, and O was O after having a whole pregnancy to chose, then still being unable to until he was 5 days old and we were desperate to give him a name!!
