My, full to the brim, wheelie bin blew over. So I wedged it. And it blew over again. So I picked it up to move into garage and it blew over again, into me. So is in garage now. I have just been up the hill and it is crazy, some twat is on their roof as something has gone awry. I couldn't watch.

YellowWellies · 05/12/2013 10:57

A huge horse chestnut has just fallen into my sister's garden. Nowt damaged, and as she has a wood burner she's rather chuffed at the unexpected free firewood! The winds are dying down here now. It sounded amazing last night. I confess to being Smile that we are in a stout stone house on a street of similar houses not in our old rickety windswept cottage on the island (one field back from Scapa Flow)....

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 11:06

Wow. To wobbly s max. Wow to horse chestnut firewood.

Just bough the empty recycling bin up from the road. An expedition in itself.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 11:18

Nothing lovelier than the sound of weather doing its worst. When you're safe inside of course. Wind, rain, thunder, love it. When i was little I would sometimes go and sit in my mum's car on the drive in the rain. Such a lovely sound.

I also love that when there has been a big snowfall you can tell before even opening the shutters. Everything goes so quiet.

flouncymcflouncerson · 05/12/2013 11:38

It's completely calmed down here now. I have an electrician in the kitchen and waiting on the plumber coming now. Hopefully they don't get in each other's way!

YellowWellies · 05/12/2013 11:38

Woo yes I love that muffledness and the weird glow you get even before you open the curtains. The temperature has plummeted here. Snow soon? Grin

Jonas has just spent half an hour opening the drawers in the spare room, climbing in and sitting, waving and dancing at himself in the mirror Grin

flouncymcflouncerson · 05/12/2013 11:39

I've also just climbed into bed to rest up here outta the way. I've been staying upright for too long and gravity isn't pleasant just now so taking advantage of the fact I can snuggle into the duvet. Dh is here so will see to the tradesmen and come get me if I'm needed.

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/12/2013 12:02

I can't believe how windy it is here. Much worse than the day there was supposed to be a storm. I'm still walking to take DD1 to nursery. its not like that will blow away Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 12:14

flouncy when is your post op check? Flowers

ChasingDaisy · 05/12/2013 12:19

My arms nearly got ripped out of their sockets as I was trying to control the pram in the wind Shock

I want to cook a vegetable omelette tonight, with mushrooms and courgette. I am terrified and therefore clueless about cooking with eggs after a food poisoning incident a few years ago. Can anyone kind give me a basic recipe I can follow? Grin

Misslaughalot · 05/12/2013 12:28

Chasing DP cooks a mean omelette and he uses a Jamie Oliver recipe, there's one here that might do well for you?

Tell us about your trip to London!

Feeling rough today but the ear spray is helping slightly with the earache. O has had a horrible nappy this morning (and two yesterday according to mil) but has scoffed one weetabix, two slices of toast and a bowl of fruit so far today so I'm not worried about her yet.

Meant to say so much more...

ChasingDaisy · 05/12/2013 12:41

I'll write up my London trip tonight when I have the laptop. I want to record it properly so I can tell Oscar about it when he's older. Thanks for the link Smile

Passmethecrisps · 05/12/2013 13:17

Hell's teeth.

Gales+misinformation on local radio advising of school closures+snow+1700 teenagers = total and utter chaos!!

Passmethecrisps · 05/12/2013 13:21

Chop some onions.
Fry them lightly
Chop mushrooms and courgettes
Fry them for maybe 10 minutes until nicely cooked
Mix up eggs
Add whisked eggs to frying pan
Cook until the edges are solid
Pop under hot grill to cook the rest

This is more of a frittata but same idea and easier in my opinion.

PurplePidjin · 05/12/2013 13:25

Shock at the wind, there's barely a breeze down here although i think it's heading here in the next day or two.

I am the meanest mummy ever Sad R was falling asleep in his lunch, went down nicely in his cot but - as he does when i let him get over tired (he refused a morning nap in the sling) - woke after 20 minutes. So i let him cry (shout, there's a difference to his hysterical something's wrong cry) for 30 minutes till he went back to sleep Sad it was the only way, if i go in he expects to get up and dp's got the car Sad horrible PidjMummy Sad

Ooh, wind is picking up..

Pikz · 05/12/2013 13:54

What do you buy nursery staff for Xmas?

PurplePidjin · 05/12/2013 14:59

Well it clearly worked, he's been asleep for an hour and 40 minutes - 2 hours total today. That's nearly an hour longer than when he has 2 naps Xmas Shock please don't be a nightmare for granny tonight

Pikz, salt dough hand prints, or plant a seed in a yoghurt pot for each worker in the room?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 15:00

Want omelette now! Haven't gad one for ages.

Apparently we are due snow. According to the woman in Asda,so I am not sure how reliable that forecast is. Xmas Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 15:02

One year I just for them all a bath bomb from lush and bunckphed them up in tissue paper with nice ribbon, put all together in a box for them to pick their own. Looked v pretty.

flouncymcflouncerson · 05/12/2013 15:09

pr I haven't got my date through for post op appt yet. Supposed to be 6 weeks from op which would mean Xmas day of they were going by 6 weeks exactly!

Having yet more kitchen nightmares. Electrican has gone, DH has paid him, yet he hasn't got my oven and hob working!! WTF! He claims power is getting to them but doesn't know why they're not working. Makes no sense to me as I can see fused spur unit for oven has no indicator light which implies to me no power! He's trying to blame my dad for disconnecting the cooker originally but all dad did was remove fuse. Weird! I'm so angry as DH didn't even come up and get me so when I was asking DH what was up he didn't really know. He thought it was just hob not working. I asked what the guy had said or pointed to when talking and he said they'd been in living room. Why wouldn't you go into the room the work was being carried out in and see what he was talking about!!!! Oh I'm so angry!!

Plumber is here now and he's a friends dad so should in theory be fine!

StuntNun · 05/12/2013 15:15

We had snow at lunchtime Sophia but it's back to heavy rain.

Chasing I sometimes finish a frittata off under the grill to get the top cooked. While it's still in the frying pan cut it in half to see if it's cooked. So long as there are no runny parts then you'll be fine.
