Bonjour PR!

Ou est le piscine? the only French I remember from school

Pikz · 05/12/2013 08:49

Moi aussi. Ce que vous faites aujourd'hui?

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/12/2013 08:51

good idea re ss lily I'd like to know that mine has arrived safely too. I leave the house at 12:15 to take DD1 to nursery so will send positive luck vibes to Hungary on my walk. Really hope it goes ok for you.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 08:53

Bonjour.

Today we are braving the gales and going up the hill to commander someone's tractor to take a ginormous piece of granite stone down to the stone people who will split it and polish it and engrave the number of our house in.

Then

I am going to town to family group.

Then

I am going to the post office to collect post.

Then

I will come home and light the fire and cosy up with my boys.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 08:54

Commandeer.

ChasingDaisy · 05/12/2013 08:54

Hoping the Haggis quiche members (and Stunt & Sophia too) don't get swept away in the gale force winds forecasted today!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 08:54

Ha I was going to piss you all off by doing the day in French but this is much more important: if you want to let me know when secret santa gifts arrive then i can message the sender if for some reason you don't want to put it on facebook :)

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 08:56

Ooh yes bonne chance with the wind. Tiny bit of northern france is on weather alert for flooding. I assume the wind will be here in a couple of days but often it's done its worst already in the UK and holland and is more of a breeze by the time it gets here.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 08:58

Thanks chasing.

I was musing earlier actually. When I was reading the weather warning info it said winds would be 80 to 90mph and we have been warned not to go to the beach or next to the sea Confused or whatever. Anyway I thought that these are the same strength winds that there was in Oct that bit the south of England and there has been nowhere near the same amount of news coverage.

I will only go to the gown that is to the east of me as the road town to the west runs right along the sea wall and sometimes they shut it as the waves crash over the road bringing debris. Shock

Love this weather when I haven't got to catch a flight.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 08:59

Hit.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 08:59

Ffs town.

Give up.

I might do the whole day in Sophia typos.

ChasingDaisy · 05/12/2013 09:03

I'm going to annoy you all later by telling you the story of my day yesterday in great detail Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 09:04

That won't annoy us I can't wait!!

I think the reason this storm is so bad is the coastal flooding expected soph something about worst surge in years, but i think that's more in the East of Britain.

ChasingDaisy · 05/12/2013 09:06

Radio just said that there is risk of flooding in the east. A few counties near me are on flood alert. I must admit that the only reason I heard about the winds was because of announcements at Euston last night. Far less media coverage when it doesn't involve the south of the country it seems.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 09:08

I lied, I just looked on the bbc website, there is news coverage!

Can't wait to hear about your day chasing xx

Pikz · 05/12/2013 09:36

Have just stuck my thumbs together with superglue.

Happy Thursday :)

Morning Brew

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 09:44

:o

Oh dear. Well on thankful thursday you can be thankful for whatever unsticks superglue.

I'm thankful for my freezer, and for the woman at Toyota I just phoned who was very patient with my longwinding way of explaining why my car needs a check up. I'm not good at cars in English let alone French. Am also thankful for a good night's sleep and that both girls are so happy when they arrive at nursery every morning.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/12/2013 09:44

Ok so the triple glazing just wobbled. Shock

flouncymcflouncerson · 05/12/2013 09:47

It's very windy here but I can't see why some people aren't taking their kids to school etc. It's Scotland we are used to wind and rain! Am I a cruel mum sending them to nursery? It's 5 mins away!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/12/2013 09:59

Nope, not cruel. I guess some schools may have closed just in case? Or people are worried about it getting worse? I'd take mine in even in heavy snow. In fact for a good few weeks sometime soon there will be heavy snow. I'm more wary of strong winds but it'd have to be pretty strong to stop me taking the girls in

YellowWellies · 05/12/2013 10:40

Transport Scotland are advising to stay off the roads and stay indoors due to the risk of flying masonry (chimney pots and stuff) and falling trees. DH can't get to work as the Forth Road bridge is closed and J and I can't go swimming as there are no trains running in all of Scotland. Duvet day it is then! Wish we'd got wrapping paper in the house as I could get cracking wrapping presents Confused

StuntNun · 05/12/2013 10:48

I'm sitting in the car in Lidl car park as J is asleep and the car is rocking from side to side in the wind. It's an S-Max ffs, it weighs 1.7 tonnes! It sounded like a tile or two came of the roof last night as well. Still at least the bins were wedged in tight and didn't blow over.
